T430s, newest chipset package (9.3.0.10.21) doesn't support hibernation :-(

Just made a clean installation of Win7 Ultimate-N SP1 32x (from MS media) and as soon I install the chipset package (the first thing I do) Win7 cannot go into hibernation. Not even after installing Power Manger driver and Power Manager software.
Hibernation works before installing the chipset package.
Who to blame? Me, Intel or Lenovo?
Any help?

I'd have to say you. Since you did not go through and confirm or change the situations in which hibernation will take place in the Power Manager. It controls it and not windows. Works for everyone else.

You do not need any "Cleaner" app for Macs.  I would not be at all surprised if that didn't actually damage your Mac, especially if it were MacDefender. Applejack is OK, but I'm not sure what it erased.  Do you know?
You also don't need any Virus Barrier.  That could also mess things up.
The fact that all of your browsers are now messed up indicates that it is not a Safari problem, but more system-wide.

  • Newest ati-fglrx doesn't support Radeon 9000?

I just upgraded to the newest ati-fglrx package (ati-fglrx 8.29.6-1), and started getting a dreaded white-screen when I ran startx.  Errors indicated my chipset (0x4c66, I believe) isn't recognized by the driver.  I'm sorry, what?
So, after running aticonfig again and trying to wrestle with kernel modules and xorg extensions, I looked at the ATI drivers release notes (http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/linux_8.29.6.html).  Notice anything funny there?  Mobility Radeon 9000 isn't listed in the supported products.  Huh?
So, what's a guy to do?  Am I correct in understanding that pacman won't let me revert and go back to the last ati-fglrx package that actually supported my video card?  Do I have options, or am I stuck with software rendering from now on?
For reference, it's a Dell Latitude D600 laptop, with a completely up-to-date set of packages (newest non-beyond kernel, etc.).
    Help?

cheer wrote:But I don't want to switch to OSS drivers, when new kernel comes out, as they're worse for me.
When was the last time you tried them?  I've heard they've improved quite alot in the last little while.
cheer wrote:Is it so difficult to make 2 packages every new kernel version?
If I wanted to be snarky, I could respond with "Is it so difficult to make yourself 1 package every new kernel version?" but I'm in a good mood, so I'll just make a joke about it in this paragraph.
Keeping around the old version of the package would be, afaik, against the Arch 'bleeding edge' ethos, as well as slowly becoming a maintenance nightmare as it keeps drifting further and further out of date compared to the kernel (and possibly Xorg as well.)
If ATI decided to maintain a 'legacy' version of their drivers for older chipsets like Nvidia seems to be doing, then I'd pick that up in a heartbeat - but as it stands, we're stuck with what ATI's giving us.

  • I've just purchased the photographer's package, but the download for Lr doesn't show in my app list?

I've just purchased the photographer's package, but the download button for Lightroom doesn't show in my app list. How come?
I've checked everything and my computer system should be able to run it perfectly.

From what I can tell you won't be presented with apps Adobe thinks are not compatible with your system but I don't see why that would be true in your case. It is supposed to be possible to download the trial and then convert it to the cloud. Maybe you can try that. Here are the instructions for Photoshop. Hopefully it's similar for Lightroom. The link for Lightroom instructions on this page just goes to the same page.

Mozilla 37.0.2 doesn't support WiseStamp 1.3.5 so there is an ongoing missing icon issue in gmail. Can you please provide a fix? I have provided the fix-it link and you will see that an incompatibility notification pops up during download.

  • How to store data in JavaCard

    Hi folks,
I have a basic question. I want to store data in Java card of each transaction in a log file. Each record contains some information. I'm wondering how to create this kind of file on java card and update log file for each new transaction.
Suppose that I want to store about 1000 maximal records in my log file (1000 transactions). From your experience working with Java card, could you please suggest me the way to do this task.
Thank you very much in advance.
    Best regards,
    JDL

I spent a little time searching over the internet and I read this document:
    http://www.informatik.uni-augsburg.de/lehrstuehle/swt/se/teaching/fruehere_semester/ws0708/javacard/Dokumentation/JCADG.pdf
I try to explore whether my Java card support javacardx.framework package or not but unfortunately, it doesn't support this package. It means that I must build my own class to manage EF files.
Another try over the internet, I found a very useful example dealing with managing Cyclic file on Javacard. At the moment, I'm on the way designing and coding my own class and hope that it will work :-)

Thank you anyway your response, it would be helpful :-)

  • Applets in non-plugin IE

I have an applet that loads beatifully on clients that have the java plugin installed. on machines that just run the microsoft vm, it doesn't load and the error message is "ClassNotFoundException". Now these microsft vm machines can load other applets - in particular I was able to load a simple scribble applet. So I'm wondering why my applet doesn't load and the scribble applet does. I even took the scribble applet code, rebuit it w/ jBuilder , put it on my webserver (iPlanet) and COULDN'T load it from a microsft vm machine. what's going on? I thought maybe the microsoft vm only loads classes built with old jdk's so I downloaded 1.1.8 and rebuilt my applet - but still no luck. any ideas?

That depends on what packages the applet is using - microsoft doesn't support SWING and some other APIs. Second thing is that I've found that code compiled on SDK 1.4 and above doesn't run on microsoft at all.
Try to convert your HTML code for the applet with the HtmlConverter tool that is in YOUR_JAVA\bin directory. It will change the APPLET tag to OBJECT tag and the IE will load the appropriate plugin to view it.

  • How to Turn off Smart Quotes

I am unable to turn off “smart quotes” (for the purpose of entering computer code). I have unchecked the box in System Preferences > Language > Keyboard, and in Safari and Mail under the Edit Menu > Substitutions (also in Word and TextEdit), but the smart or ”curly quotes“ continue to appear in each application. Is there any way to fix this in Mavericks? I am running OS X 10.9.3

TL;DR: AFAIK, nobody tries to use Microsoft Word for programming in Python, or programming in general, and TextEdit is dicy here at best.
    slps01 wrote:
    red_menace:
That's my problem: no matter how I set the preferences in the applications, the smart quotes won't go away.
There is clearly an issue with smart quotes in your configuration.  The global smart quotes setting is not being honored, nor is any local setting that might exist.
Which particular application are you using to edit your Python code when this problem arises?
(As with programming in general, details matter here.)
Did the tools you are using also get restarted after the global settings were changed?
Why ask this stuff?  This information will allow folks to see if there's something else going on within that particular application, and it's also because there are text tools around that just won't create text files that the Python interpreter can process — whatever you're using here is probably closer to creating a plain-text file than some, as you're noticing the smart quotes here, though.  Of what you've mentioned so far, Microsoft Word is not known for its ability to create ASCII or UTF-8 text files, and TextEdit is dicy here at best as that tool is quite fond of using RTF formats.
But if it's Word or TextEdit you're using?  That won't work at all well.   TextWrangler (free) is a common choice for folks that prefer a GUI editor, or MacVim (free) or whatever emacs is current (also free) or other such if you'd prefer a more advanced editor.  (Note: vim and emacs are much more cryptic, and much more powerful editors.)  Or use the included nano editor (has an on-screen list of commands), or the integrated vim or emacs editors at the command line.   There are also Python IDE packages around, as well.  (Xcode doesn't support Python, though there are reports of some success with it.)  These tools all work, and these tools all produce the sorts of sequential text files that the compilers and interpreters can process.   In some cases, these tools also provide syntax highlighting and other features, which can be very useful when coding, too.

  • 3d crash

Hello, i'm not able to use any 3d feature because Photoshop always crashes.
I've the latest version of Photoshop CC, the latest version of my graphic drivers and the latest version of my pc drivers.
    This is my PC:
    - This Desktop PC http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01561543&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3 819431
    - With a nvidia 9600gs graphic card
    - and Windows 7 32 bit
I tried changing various options both in the graphic card configuration panel and in the Photoshop Performance and 3d panel but i'm not able to solve.
    Thanks

It may have enough RAM, but the chipset is now 4 generations behind and doesn't support the necessary shader operations. Sorry, but it's just a bunch of outdated silicon these days.

  • Prospective Mega 865 buyer with a few questions...

I'm looking into upgrading my Home PC, and I really like the small form factor of the Mega 865. My main goal is to have a very quite computer (my current PC has a noisy Maxtor hard drive), and the small form factor is a real plus. Here are a few questions:
    1) How quiet is the Mega 865? Is the power supply fan very quiet?
    2) If I use a Northwood 3.0 GHz CPU, do I need to buy a standard cooling fan or does the Mega 865 have it's own CPU cooling fan system? If so, how quiet is this fan?
    3) What's the highest screen resolution that the Integrated 865G Video can output in True Color?
    4) Can I fill one of the two memory slots with a single 512 MB module, or do I need to fill both slots with a module?
If anyone can help answer these questions, I would greatly appreciate it. Any other comments would also be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    ppcinfo

i don't have a mega 865 personally, but i'll try and answer what i can.
    1) the mega 651 was very quiet under normal loads, you'd only hear the cpu fan whirr faster when the cpu was getting hot. i imagine its the same on other megas.
    2) all the megas come with their own custom designed heatsink and fan, i doubt you'd get anything else to fit. BTW the northwood is probably a better bet than the prescott, as they don't run as hot
    3) i don't know about the mega 865, but i recently built a PC for my mom, based on the Aopen XCCube EY65, which uses the same intel 865g chipset as in the mega 865 (only doesn't support any prescott cpus  ). it runs on her 18.1" tft in 1280x1024 in truecolour mode, but only allows for a max of 16mb shared VGA memory. as she don't play games (she's an architectural glazing designer, using AutoCAD) thats fine for her.
    4) you can just use one stick of RAM if you want, but stick to some good stuff, cheaper generic RAM usually causes problems on MSI mobos
thats my tuppence worth, can any mega 865 users clarify anything for us?
