T430s - Stop Error 101

Hello,
I'm starting to use a T430s with:
Core i7-3520M
8GB RAM
256 GB SSD
and in 2 days of usage, I've gotten 2 stop 101 errors:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000101 (0x0000000000000031, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff88003365180, 0x0000000000000002). A dump was saved in: C:\windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 071812-8346-01.
Debbuging the memory dump, I get this:
CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT (101)
An expected clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor in an
MP system within the allocated interval. This indicates that the specified
processor is hung and not processing interrupts.

What does error 101 mean and how do i fix this?

It had problems completing the download.  Where are you choosing to download the install files too?

  • Error 101 ~Photoshop CS5.1

I have the same problem except I have Vista 32-bit operating system. On my C: drive, I have 85.6 GB of space left. (Which is more than enough space) And on my D: drive, I have 106GB out of 106GB left. I had already installed Photoshop CS5.1 before but my computer crashed so now I'm back again and it giving me Error 101.
Please don't tell me I have to re-boot my computer and start the download all over again because I have a dial-up connection and it took forever to get to the process I'm on right now. Please help!
*P.S. I already closed out the Download Assistant and re-opened it. It didn't work...But I do have YouTube downloads running but I have to re-boot my computer in order to make them stop because they froze up.*

It did the same thing for illustrator CS5.1 too!

Though this is the same response, as in the other thread, I am adding it here, in case someone else finds this thread, and not the other one.
Here is a CHECKLIST for general installations of most Adobe programs. Did you do anything differently?
Especially with a dial-up connection, I would advise against multi-tasking, while downloading. I would give that same advice, when installing. Just do the installation (with everything else shut completely down), until all is up and running correctly.
As far as available HDD space, it can take more to install, than one imagines. First, one has large download files. Next, those have to be Extracted, and then some working files created. Last, there is the installed program, itself, which will be much smaller in footprint, than all that goes into the download/install process. When all has completed, those Extracted files and working files will be deleted, or should be. When all is runnng fine, one can then delete the download files.
Also, if one is using dynamically managed Windows Virtual Memory (Page File), that can grow quite large, when the installer uses up its allocation of RAM, so what one saw at idle, for available HDD space, might shrink under load, fairly drastically.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • (Error 101) Can't Install PS CS5 Trial?

    d

I'm trying to install a trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS5, but every time I try I get the following error in the Adobe Downlaod Assistant:
Error extracting the product installer (Error 101). Check for available disk space on your system and try downloading the product again.
I have two hard drives: the one my comp came with; which is where Windows is installed, and a second one on which everything else is installed and downloaded to. The latter is the one I'm trying to install PS to, and it has 59GB available, so I'm not sure why I'm getting this error. The other hard drive has 1.55GB available, and even that should be enough to install the program.
I looked in the install logs for Adobe and found this under summary:
WARNING: The payload: Adobe Photoshop CS5 Core  {7DFEBBA4-81E1-425B-BBAA-06E9E5BBD97E} requires a UI parent with following specification:
    Family: Photoshop
    ProductName: Adobe Photoshop CS5 Core_x64
This parent relationship is not satisfied, because this payload is not present in this session.

WARNING: 1 ARKServiceControl::StartService: Service not started/stopped SwitchBoard. Current State: 0 Exit Code: 0 Service Specific Exit Code: 0
The second problem is what I think is causing the error. I'm runing Windows 7 32 bit. Does PS CS5 only work on 64 bit? I know it's that way with Adobe After Effects CS5, but I wasn't sure about PS.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Ti4800se and STOP errors etc

    My specs:
    ASUS P4S8X-X motherboard
    MSI Geforce4 Ti4800se-VTD8X (MS-8900) GPU
512mb pc2700ddr ram (not sure which brand)
Power Supply is 400 Watt I think.
    WinXP Pro (no SP1).
I got this new box nearly a month ago, and I have been hammering my brain so much about this main problem:
I keep getting STOP errors mainly in games (from 10 mins till an hour or so of playing), although it also happens when switching user accounts and other random things. Two days ago this happened 8 times in one day.
These STOP codes range from 0X0000008E (most common) and 0X00000050 (sometimes PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA) mentioning nv4_disp.dll or nv4_mini.sys, 0X000000D1 (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) and 0X00000093 (INVALID_KERNAL_HANDLE), to 0X0000007F and 0X0000000a (not often, and these last two haven't happened since not using the supplied MSI display drivers).
Microsoft has been really helpful (note the sarcasm) in determining the reason for these errors.
Experts Exchange has proved to be no help either (http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinXP/Q_20646778.html).
I used DocMemory to test my ram, and 4 tests through and all passed.
There appears to be no IRQ conflicts:
    (ISA) 0 System timer
(ISA) 1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
    (ISA) 4 Communications Port (COM1)

(PCI) 18 SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
(PCI) 19 Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
(PCI) 20 SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
(PCI) 21 SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
(PCI) 23 SiS 7002 USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller
but is there something bad with two things using #20?
I have tried many different display drivers (nvidia 44.03, 43.45, and 43.30 from nvidia.com and driverheaven.net), but I keep getting these errors. I am currently running the MSI 41.07 drivers from here: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=407%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&NAME=MS-8900 and they appear to not be WHQL compliant. I am now downloading 43.51 and 41.04 to see if they work.
GART driver update? I thought I downloaded a newer version, but I got that from MSI and not ASUS :S - am downloading one from ASUS.com.tw now and seeing if that works.
However, somehow, by creating a new user account in WinXP, there appears to be no crashing when that user is active (computer was online for more than a day!), until I switched to the normal account and it crashes again ?( .
Among other things, the two MSI tabs in Display Properties I can get rid of thanks to this forum, and it's a shame the hardware monitor doesn't work due to it not actually being supported by the card X(
I haven't installed Ghost Recon yet, but I read there might be a problem there too?
I am seriously wondering whether to take this stuff back to the shop I got it from.
    Any other suggestions?

    adboehm,
Here are some error codes for you:
    Quote
Bug Check 0x0A IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, which is defined as 0x0A, indicates that the driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or higher.
Bug Check 0xBE ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY, which is defined as 0xBE, indicates that the driver tried to write to a read-only memory segment.
Bug Check 0xC1 SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION, which is defined as 0xC1, indicates that the driver wrote to an invalid section of the special memory pool. Typically, the current thread's backtrace reveals the source of the error.
Bug Check 0xC4 DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION, which is defined as 0xC4, is the general bug check code for fatal errors that Driver Verifier finds. The accompanying parameters are the parameters that are passed to KeBugCheckEx and displayed on a blue screen.
Bug Check 0xC5 DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL, which is defined as 0xC5, indicates that the driver tried to access invalid memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
Bug Check 0xC6 DRIVER_CAUGHT_MODIFYING_FREED_POOL, which is defined as 0xC6, indicates that the driver tried to gain access to a freed memory pool.
Bug Check 0xC7 TIMER_OR_DPC_INVALID, which is defined as 0xC7, indicates that a kernel timer or DPC was found somewhere in memory where the kernel timer or DPC is not permitted. This condition is usually caused by a driver's not canceling the timer or the Delayed Procedure Call (DPC) before freeing the memory in which the timer or DPC resides.
Bug Check 0xC9 DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION, which is defined as 0xC9, is the bug check code for all I/O Driver Verifier violations.
Bug Check 0x50 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, which is defined as 0x50, is issued if invalid system memory is referenced.
    Take Care,
    Richard

  • Why am I receiving the "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped" error message and how do I fix it?

Why am I receiving the "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped" error message and how do I fix it?

I am so upset. Please read my messages from my postings. This has nothing to do with SIM Card, Hard Reset, Apps, Google Gmail Account, nothing. I have gone thru all of this and NOTHING has fixed this. I went to the store today and spoke to the manager on duty. He said he had to try and duplicate the problem before he could help me. I showed him "screen captures" I did, told him it's out here on the board, etc. etc. Needless to say I ended up coming home with the same phone, "he" erased the phone and started over again. Well guess what, it's not a error with "MY" Gmail account being corrupted because if that is the case Mrs. Hayden14 has a bad Gmail account too. If you guessed it, the phone just crashed again! I was able this time to capture a report with ALL the history in it and saved screen captures to PROVE to him this is not a joke. Even the report says "Crash". This time it was something else I don't even or ever have used. I have also wasted over a day , yes a full work day on this without question.
I have had to get the run around for the last day. This is totally ridiculous, including them putting me on hold for 55 min. Oh, that's another funny story. Anyways, tomorrow morning I am going to the Verizon store one last and final time and I hope they decided to do the right thing and give me a phone that does not crash and works. It would be handy at work for me, especially where I work at. I hope hope hope someone listens to and helps me. I would love for them to see me walk in, take my phone and say to me were going to get you another phone, hand it to me, see if it works and prove it's the device. I don't hear anyone having this issue on other phone types so sounds like its the phone type.
I have had 3 phones now in the matter of 2 weeks. I am sure the FedEx charges will add up to a cost of a new phone at some point and start to outbalance your requirement to give me the same phone when it has the same problem.
Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.

  • MSI K9A Platinum and VIA drivers issue? XP 0x0000007B stop error.

I get a Windows Stop error when trying to boot into Windows XP with new components. The SATA hard drive (and Windows XP installation) is from the old computer.
    The new computer components are:
MB: MSI K9A Platinum, chipset: RD580 (North Bridge), SB600 (South Bridge)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+, boxed (the cooler and fan came with the CPU).
    Video: MSI Radeon 1950 XTX
The old (and working) computer setup is:
    OS: XP Professional
    MB: Abit AV8-3rd Eye, chipset: VIA K8T800Pro + VT8237
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    Video: Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro All-in-Wonder, videodriver: atidvag.dll version 6.14.10.6542
HD: Maxtor 6B200M0 SCSI Disk Device
    BIOS: Phoenix 6.00PG 20.04.2005
System drivers with "via" in the name: VIAAGP1.SYS, viaide.sys, viasride.sys
VIA 4in1 (Hyperion) version: 4.55 (that can be found at HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Via4in1Driver).
VIA 2.20e SATA/RAID driver was used when installing this computer setup.
    The precise stop error is:
    0x0000007B (0xba4c3528, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
From many sites I have gathered that the error is related to Windows XP not being able to access a critical system drive. Most probably the SATA hard drive issue.
The problem probably is the VIA drivers of the old motherboard and/or the SATA driver.
First I should mention, that MSI K9A Platinum does not have a hard disk SATA driver. If it does, I have been unable to find one. Certainly no such floppy disk included, and no such driver in the MSI's Web page for this motherboard.
Second important point: I never used RAID. I did use VIA 2.20e SATA/RAID driver disk when installing Windows XP to the old computer.
Strange that the hard drive model is reported as a "SCSI Disk Device". It's not a SCSI drive however: it's a SATA disk.
I have tried to uninstal the motherboard chipset drivers (Hyperion v4.55), but there seems to be a bug here: the drivers should be uninstalled using the installation program, and select the uninstall option. However, I do not get the uninstallation option to choose at all! Yes, I'm using the normal installation mode, not the quick installation (although tried that, too). The Hyperion setup program just installs, and asks to reboot the computer. After rebooting and trying again, it still does not offer me an uninstallation choise.
I know how to install hard drive VIA SATA driver, but I have no idea how to uninstall it. And I'm afraid to do that without certainty that it IS the solution, since I could not access the hard drive any more in the old computer setup (and return to read this forum). Also, I do not have a floppy drive any more. Anyone know if there is an issue with K9A and XP having VIA SATA driver installed?
When I tried the new computer setup, I first tried the simplest possible hardware combination: there were no CD/DVD-drives, no (parallel)IDE hard drives, and no PCI cards, except the MSI video adapter.
My BIOS Setup experiments. None of these helped: got the same stop error each time.
    1) I didn't much touch the BIOS setting first. Just tried to boot with the settings BIOS came with.
    2) Next I disabled the integrated audio, LAN and IEE1394 devices and floppy drive and disabled all other choises except the SATA drive as a boot device.
    3) Next I tried with the fail-safe BIOS defaults.
    4) Cleared CMOS.
    5) Changed OnChip SATA type from Native IDE to Legacy IDE. (Only one boot attempt with the setting as Legacy.)
    6) Disabled PCI IDE BusMaster.
    7) Never touched anything in the Cell Menu: so the settings are in minimum.
A step I have taken after the last attempt: run Windows XP hard drive error-checking tool to every logical drive with the fix option selected, and the system drive also with scan the bad sectors option selected.
    My plans next are:
    1) to install a newer Hyperion driver. If that would correct the no-unistallation-choice-bug,
    2) to disable USB-devices in the BIOS (desperate),
    3) to choose the Windows general video display driver (although I seriously doubt this is a display driver problem!).
    4) to uninstall the Anti-Virus software (Avira Antivir).
I've read a numerous Web pages so far about the 0x0000007B stop error. Here are some links:

    Stop 0x0000007B or INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
This Stop message, also known as Stop 0x7B, indicates that Windows XP Professional lost access to the system volume or boot volume during the startup process. This error always occurs while the system is starting and is often caused by one of the following:
        * Hardware problems
        * Corrupted or incompatible storage drivers
        * File system problems
        * Boot sector viruses
        * Outdated firmware
During I/O system initialization, this error can occur when:
        * The controller or driver for the startup device (typically the hard disk) failed to initialize the necessary hardware.
        * File system initialization failed because the system did not recognize the data on the boot device.

You receive a Stop 0x0000007B error after you move the Windows XP system disk to another computer
    SYMPTOMS
After you move the Microsoft Windows XP system (boot) disk to a backup computer, you may receive the following Stop error when you try to start the Windows XP-based backup computer:
    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF741B84C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
    CAUSE
This error may occur if the registry entries and the drivers for the mass storage controller hardware in the backup computer are not installed in Windows XP.
    RESOLUTION
To resolve this error, use the same hardware for the backup computer.
Heh, heh! Very nice Microsoft, but I plan to update my computer, so I NEED to use different components

    Device Driver Issues
You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message in the following scenarios:
    •   A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.
    •   A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted.
    •   Information in the Windows XP registry (information related to how the device drivers load during startup) is corrupted.
    Hardware Issues
You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message if there is a resource conflict between the boot controller and another controller or between SCSI devices. You may also receive this Stop error message if drive translation is not being performed or if drive translation was changed. To troubleshoot this issue:
    1.   If an IRQ or I/O port address conflict exists between the boot controller and another controller, Windows XP either stops responding (hangs) or displays a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message. If you recently added new hardware, remove the new hardware or reconfigure it so that it does not conflict with the resources of any other installed controllers.
    2.   If you are using a SCSI hard disk, check the SCSI chain for correct termination. Remove any unused SCSI devices or make sure that each SCSI ID is unique.
    3.   Make sure that drive translation is turned on (if it is required) and that it has not been changed. For example, if you recently switched controllers, this issue may occur. SYMPTOMS
When you start your Microsoft Windows XP-based computer after you replace the motherboard on the computer, you may receive a Stop error message that is similar to the following:
    STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE
    CAUSE
This issue may occur if the new motherboard contains an embedded IDE controller that has a different chipset than the original motherboard.
    RESOLUTION
Method 1: Perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP [<- That means repair installation of Windows XP]
    •   Do not use a repair or in-place upgrade if you suspect disk problems.
Method 2: Repartition and format your hard disk and reinstall Windows XP

Alright I got the situation over.

I did try all all the above, and none of them helped.
And by the way: after installing the new Hyperion (VIA chipset drivers), I was finally able to also uninstall. It also uninstalled the IDE SATA (I think) and PATA drivers.
But what I had to do, was to make a REPAIR installation of Windows XP.
So, I was wondering now afterwards: this is really, really silly. Why the hell we need to re-install Windows if we move the SYSTEM SATA drive to another computer? We don't have similar problem with parallel IDE drives. Whom should we thank here??
The issue is to insert the driver files and the information of the ide drivers Windows should use with the next boot. How can it be this difficult?
    What you basically need is..
    - the information about the new chipset's PCIIDE.SYS/[VENDOR_PROVIDED_FILE].SYS and ATAPIIDE.SYS inserted into the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSetXXX\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase
    - and the vendor's IDE drivers to the %SYSTEMROOT%/System32/drivers folder.
Maybe something else, I don't know. But the problem was, Windows didn't know how, or what drivers to use. That can't be so big problem you need to install the whole OS anew!

  • PC getting Stop error when connecting iTouch

I have a 2nd generation iTouch that I sync'd up to my pc with no problem when I first got it about 2 weeks ago. Now everytime I connect it, I get the blue screen with a stop error. My daughter also has an iTouch (1st generation) and I can connect that one with no issues. Any ideas on what to do? I repaired iTunes but really didn't want to uninstall and it seems to be just my iTouch. I can connect it to my work laptop to charge with no issues too.

Well, the other USB port was working for a while. Now none work. When I plug my iTouch in, I get the Windows XP stop error and the blue screen of death. The USB port works for other things like my jump drive. I can plug my iTouch into my laptop and all is fine. I recently upgraded my iTouch to 3.0 but it still worked after doing that. Do you think my USB drivers need to be upgraded?

You don't need to upgrade your software.  But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3.  It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC.  More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.

If you don't have a budget to work with, you can roll your own menus with jQuery plugins.  A bit more effort on your part, but they perform better than Spry.

  • ITunes Stop Error

Ok ever since last night, every time i open iTunes i get a stop error on a blue screen causing my computer to restart. The error is 0x0000008E. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?

I figured it out, it was just permissions on the drives..

  • Stop Error / Blue Screen of Death... Please Help

    Hello,
I have been having problems with my desktop computer ever since I Installed the BT Total Broadband software.
I have seen a similar topic regarding the Stop error and BSOD,but the problem there appears to be with a wireless connection with a laptop. I, on the other hand, am using an ethernet cable connection with a desktop, so I am not sure if the fix will also work for me.
The problem I have am having is that my computer frequently either resets or BSOD's, with an IRQ_Less_Or_Equal message. This usually occurs within minutes of any kind of internet navigation, and after it has occured once, the problem seems to persist, causing my computer to freeze during bootup, or crashing/resetting shortly after windows (eventually) loads successfully.
Please help, this is driving me crazy!

Thanx again for the replies guys, this is all very helpful!
Firstly, Im running windows XP, SP3.
Also, I have to admit the inside of my computer is quite dusty and could use a good clean.
Finally, its interesting to note that although my computer has a habit of crashing/resetting/BSODing quite regularly during online activity, sometimes the system seems to stabilise, and will run perfectly well for hours at a time.
However I have reached a point where the continual errors, and the resulting 100x crashes and windows failing to load has driven me to seek professional help (here, not a pyschiatrist )

  • Restarting After a Blue Screen Stop Error

I have received a Blue Screen Stop Error on my Toshiba Satellite 5200 Series laptop.
I could report it here, in full, if that would be helpful. However, it begins by telling me to restart the machine but the unit's Power button is not allowing me to switch it off.
What action should I take ?

Crikey ! Someone at another forum just told me to hold the button down for 5 seconds..... and it worked !

  • Critical error, blue screen stop error

after installing installation CD today, my laptop keeps going to a blue screen reporting a STOP error.... a critical error, but can't reslove. Have now removed the iTunes and it hasn't happened yet.
    Maybe a conflict, I don't know.
    Dell Inspirion Laptop   Windows XP

I found the answer !  Turns out it is/was not a Win7 problem, but a drive problem.
I was following some links on another Win7 forum and happened upon mention of SSD drives causing a BSOD.  The one in particular mentioned was a Crucial M4 SSD. It sounded familiar . . . I have one as my C: drive.  Turns out I needed a firmware
update. The update corrects a condition where an incorrect response to a SMART power-on counter will cause the m4 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat
once per hour after reaching this point. 5184 hours is about 7.2 months. Just a bit under how long I've had this system.
I applied the update . . . . . computer has been running seven hours now.
Thanks to all who helped me here.
    Joe
    Wanted to add for reference:
The original post from Crucial acknowledging the issue.
    BSOD Crucial M4
The fix is as simple as updating the firmware, but the hoops to jump through for the firmware update to take place is a bit frustrating.
With my board, z68-v pro, it was necessary for me to go into the bios and change my controller mode to IDE. In addition I needed to remove the drive connected to the Marvell port and plug it into the Intel port as well as put my two ssd's on the first and
second Intel ports. Once this was done I was able to get past the 'finding drives' screen and update the firmware for both ssd's. Once the update finished I went back into the bios and changed the controller mode back to AHCI. As i said, a frustrating experience
but I commend Crucial for owning up to the issue rather than lead people to think their ssd's needed replacing or something was wrong with windows and subsequent unnecessary re-installs.

  • Blue Screen Stop error

I have experienced windows reboots due to stop error like 000000c2 or 100008e. First I have reinstalled windows and all the adjacent software, but it seems the problem keeps on hitting me again. Last week I have connected my notebook to internet and since then I have had two windows suddenly reboots. I don't think it's a virus 'cause I'm running Kaspersky, with a Sygate firewall and a Ad-Aware real time protection spyware shield. Could you please give me an advice regarding these issues.

    Hi Vlad
Not easy to say what the problem can be but if you describe some problem you can give more info that can be useful. At the basis of your posting we can just speculate.
    Which unit you have?
    Some hardware upgrades (like memory)?
    Connected some external devices?
If the problem persists after fresh OS installation I presume that there is some hardware problem.
