T430s two finger scroll

Hi!
More often than not two-finger scroll only works after going back and for more that 10 times on the touchpad. I have the latest drivers but two finger scroll is sluggish and unreliable to pick up.
Are there settings to improve two finger scrolling?

Hi, theking2
I did some research on your issue and I found this thread that has users with a similar issue. One of the users, hysy, linked a program called TwoFingerScroll that helped him and many others. You may want to give that a shot.
Hope it helps,
Adam

  • T430s Two finger scroll not working reliably

    Hi!
Sometimes it works, sometimes it takes the skin of my fingers to get two finger scroll working.
The system update does not see a reason to update the drivers.
Is there more effective software for the synaptic touchpad to do two finger scroll?

    Hi, theking2
System Update is a very useful tool, but I find it best to always check for driver updates manually, just in case the updater missed something. The latest version of the Syanptics driver can be found here and may help your issue.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • T430s two-finger scroll occasionally causes page to 'jump'

My problem occurs sporadically while using two-finger scroll to read documents online. I'll scroll up or down a little bit and the page will jump as if I had pressed pagedown or pageup (sometimes it jumps even further). I'm currently using Two-Finger Scroll and Chromium Wheel Smooth Scroller (a Chrome extension that provides smooth scrolling similar to Mac's inertial scrolling), and I've disabled SynTPEnh.exe since it interferes with GTK+ apps. I've updated my touchpad drivers and fiddled with the settings to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, were you able to fix it?
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can share some insight regarding this issue.

I experience this sometimes, it is sporadic and doesn't happen all the time. I just scroll back to the right place. I use the trackpoint most of the time so this is not a very serious issue to me.

  • T430s: Old mouse drivers? (two-finger scroll broken)

    Hi all,
I just used the lenovo update manager to update my mouse driver to version 16.2.19.2 (latest) for my T430s with Win 7. Previously I had been using the two-finger scroll all the time and have really been enjoying this feature. However, the new driver has been giving me some unwanted behavior - instead of scrolling only on two fingers, now it scrolls with one finger about half the time.
I've double checked that I'm not accidentally touching the pad with another finger. I one-finger edge scrolling disabled, as I have found this unreliable anyway. I can get back to reliable one-finger movement by un-checking the two-finger scroll from the advanced ultra-nav options in mouse settings. However, re-enabling this still gives the unwanted one finger scrolling for a touch anywhere on the pad.
So unless anyone has any better ideas, I'd figure I would roll back to the older driver. Unfortunately, the lenovo update manager has no history of the old driver, nor does windows device manager. And the driver listed on the lenovo site here, is the same version as the one I'm currently running. So.... anyone have the link to the old driver or any other ideas?
    Thanks!
    [Edited to avoid wall-of-text]
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Okay, I've tried multiple un-install / re-install cycles. I've removed the ultra-nav and synaptics files after uninstalling the driver from device manager and add-remove programs (you have to do both it seems). And a fresh re-install of both, together and individually.
    The problem still persists.
After checking with other solutions on the forums, I gave a third-party program "two-finger scroll" a try (http://code.google.com/p/two-finger-scroll/) and it is working much better. I can't devote any more time to this problem, and this solution seems to be excellent.

  • [SOLVED]Two finger scrolling/tapping stoped working after xorg update

Hi everyone, i updated my system yesterday to the new xorg server (1.11.1-2). Everything works except for the two finger scrolling on my synaptics touchpad.
    There is some info:
    Kernel:  3.0.6-2 (stock)
    Synaptics Touchpad driver: 1.5.0-1 (lastest)
Right side scrolling works fine, two or three finger tapping doesn't work either.

  • Two finger scrolling quit working on Windows 7 Boot Camp.

My two finger scrolling just quit working while running Windows 7 on Boot Camp. Any ideas?

  • Two finger scroll no longer working in windows 7 HP Pavillian 15t- n200

Hello!  My two finger scroll on the touchpad is no longer working!  I have run the BIOS again and disconnected battery with power off for 60 sec but still not working. Please help!  Thank you so much

    Hi eg1978
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having issues with your two finger scrolling. I have a couple of things for you to try. This HP document Using and Configuring the TouchPad has a section on Turning individual gestures off and on and make sure that the two finger scrolling is enabled. If that does work then reinstall your Synaptics TouchPad Driver.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!
    Thank you,

  • Windows 7: No two finger scrolling

Fresh install of Windows 7 on a boot camp partition.  Installed the drivers off of a snow leopard cd.
Right click works, two finger scrolling doesn't.
In device manager, the "Apple Trackpad" driver is dated 3/09.
    Any ideas?

The Windows Support software is installed from within Windows not while making a bootable usb. You start Windows and the Windows Support software should start automatically from the usb and be installed. If for some reason it does not install, from Windows navigate to the Windows Support software and double click the setup.exe file.

  • Why doesn't two-finger scrolling work for me with Yosemite?

MacBook Pro from 2010, upgraded to Yosemite and now none of my two-finger scrolling works with the Trackpad. Doesn't work on any application - Chrome, Safari, Word, anything. It's super annoying. Tried messing around with Trackpad options in system preferences, didn't help.

    Hi thekidcanada,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that this type of situation can be very frustrating. One troubleshooting step I would recommend would be to reset the PRAM on your computer. I know the article is written for Mavericks but the steps will be the same for Yosemite.

  • T440s Win 8.1 Remote Desktop two finger scrolling

Two finger touchpad scrolling in Chrome desktop mode has been pretty bad on my T440s until the recent driver update.  But after the update, I've noticed now that in the tiles version of remote desktop, two finger scrolling no longer works.  It acts as a right mouse click and hold to select text or drag.  In the desktop version of remote desktop on windows 8.1, two finger scrolling works fine.
I saw an article about editing the Synaptics config file to get two figure scrolling to work in the desktop version by adding a lince that references mstsc.exe, but that line is already in my Synaptics config file.  Not sure how to get Synaptics to pass gestures when using the tiles/metro version of RDP.
    Any ideas?

Well, I've confirmed it.  This is a Synaptics driver issue.  I went back to a 16.X version and the scrolling within windows 8.1 tiles version of remote desktop works.
But, I can see what Synaptics did between these two drivers.  In the latest version of the driver, two finger scrolling is now handled like trackpoint scrolling now.  With trackpoint, if you hold the center button down and mobe the trackpoint vertically, a vertical scroll icon appears and scrolling works well in windows 8.1 and within a remote desktop session in using the tiles version.  The vertical scroll icon appears in both cases.  And when you do two figure scrolling in the desktop, the vertical scroll icon appears, but when you go to a remote desktop session (tiles version), two finger scroll does NOT work, no vertical scroll icon appears.  In the remote desktop session, the two finger scroll is treated like a right click and drag.  This is horrible because if you try to two finger scroll in an explorer window, you can accidentally move files or folders into other folders!!!!  FRUSTRATING and dangerous!
In the desktop version of remote desktop, this is not an issue, when two finger scrolling happens, the vertical scroll icon does appear and scrolling works!
In the old version of driver, the two finger scrolling must be handled independently of the way trackpoint scrolls... there is never a vertical scroll icon but scrolling always works, albeit herky jerky and buggy in some programs.  In the new version of driver, the bugginess is now fixed, except this new two finger scrolling issue has been introduced.
I think the suggestion about modifying the Synaptic tp4table.dat file is a good one except that I can't seem to add a windows 8.1 tiles app to this file... have no idea how to do that as the tiles apps are OS protected and are not exactly .exes.  UGH!  Ideas about this??
Just got off a horrible telephone support session trying to report this... tech kept asking me about my boot issues... I don't have boot issues!  I don't expect any help to come soon... I guess I hope someone at Lenovo or Synaptic actually reads this stuff!
Please Synaptic... this should be a simple, quick fix.

  • Two finger scroll problem in Preview

When viewing a pdf with over 200 pages in Preview, for example a pdf book, two fringer scroll stops functioning periodically. In order to get it working again you have to click on the destop and then click back onto preview to get two finger scroll to work agian. Is this a limitation of the Preview app? This does not seem to be a problem with smaller pdfs.

You aren't the only one having this problem.

  • Two-finger scroll doesn't work in the "comments list" in Adobe Reader

Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.07, Mac 10.9.3
Two-finger scroll works great in the main pane.  However it doesn't work in the comments list area (View -> Comments -> Annotations).
Dealing with 500+ annotations that I have to approve.  Not being able to scroll through them easily is frustrating.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Photo Booth and Two Finger Scrolling

Is there anyway to install Photo Booth or the Two Finger Scrolling features on a 12" PowerBook? Just Wondering.
    Thanks,
    Shane Eliason

I think there may be some specifics here as to what 12" Powerbook we are talking about. If it's an older model, the preference setting is not available, however all may not be lost. See this link.

  • Can I stop two-finger scroll from stopping playback in 3?

Does anyone know if it's possible for Soundtrack 3 NOT to stop playback whenever a two-finger scroll occurs, no matter how miniscule?
I'm afraid my habit of editing, developed under Soundtrack 2, involves almost constant two-finger scrolling. Making matters worse, I'm still adjusting to the no-button track pad on my new MacBook Pro, so I sometime leave my thumb where the button was on my old machine. Even a little move that doesn't even reposition the window stops playback. I actually thought that playback was randomly stopping, so I restarted twice before I realized what was happening.

    Same problem here.
Also, when horizontal scrolling with two fingers, the slightest inclination of the gesture up or down starts zooming in or out while moving. SInce zoom centers on the playhead, it keeps jumping back there at the same time. Very frustrating.
It is so bad that the interface feels better when I set scroll wheel to "Scrolls window content" in prefs. The drawback is that this makes my USB mouse's conventional scroll wheel do nothing, unless I am holding shift for horiz. scroll. And it still does not solve the problem that playback stops on any 2-finger scroll, even in the now disabled up-down direction.
