T440 Disable Touchpad Mechanical click?

First Lenovo product, purchased a T440.  The touchpad is really, odd I guess is the best word.  You can physically depress the entire trackpad to trigger a mechanical "click" or you can tap to click.  The mechanical click is obnoxious at best.  It's just sensitive enough to accidentally press down when moving the pointer.
Is there a way to disable this mechanical pressing?  Like a screw somewhere to lock it in place?

Where is sound exactly coming from? Is it from cursor movement area(where you move mouse cursor) or from left/right click buttons?
Also Could you please post complete product/model number of your Notebook? You can use link below to find this info

  • How can I disable the touchpad right click feature?

I don't know how exactly, but I believe that on my Pavilion 15 laptop it is possible to right click by doing some weird tap thing on the touchpad. I only want to right click using the right click button and find it annoying when I try to use the touchpad to normal click but it right clicks instead.
When I go to the synaptics settings panel I can't see anything about disabling the right click on the touchpad feature. ANy idea how I can disable it? The touchpad is the same texture/look for all of it - I can't see or feel any designated right click zone. Thanks

    Hi,
This depend on the make/model of your hardware, and, the software/drivers currently installed, the steps will vary.
For your model, i search the information from Lenovo website:
You could have a try. For more further information, i suggest you ask Lenovo support for help.

  • Disabling touchpad envy 17 with Windows 7

The touchpad on the envy 17 is giving me fits.  I'd like to disable it.  I've done it on THIS computer, quite simply, in the past but a recent software update and tech support phone call/interaction may have changed that.  Once located in a different place, the option for  'disable' function is greyed out.   I've checked other inquiries of same or similar requests.  For the record, after reasing past posts, there is NO Hardware option from the Control Panel as suggested here:Click start- Click control panel- Click Hardware and Sound- Under "Devices and Printers" click on "Mouse"- Click the "ClickPad Settings" tab- Place a check in "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached" This process referenced also is unavailable:Control Panel > MouseSelect Clickpad settings tabTick "Disable internal ...."Click Apply then OK to get out.To get it back, untick #3 above.   This is very frustrating. Please help.

Or The touchpad is controlled through the Mouse Properties (in the Control Pad) where there is a tab "HP Control Zone Settings" and 2 "buttons": 1.  HP Control Zone enable2. HP Control Zone disable There is also a Tray Icon section of the window which allows a system tray icon  which is a shortcut to getting to the enable/disable capability Or Click on the below shown link to find the steps involved in disabling the Touchpadhttp://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03922412  Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP

  • How do I disable touchpad swipe or edge gestures on Envy x2 13-j002dx ?

I find that the edge gestures on the touchpad get in the way of my productivity, so I would like to disable them.  I've been able to disable these on other laptops, using an icon in the tray area.  I see no such icon with this device ( Envy x2 13-j002dx )
The closest I've come is I did edit this registry setting, based on instructions I found for touchpads which use the PrecisionTouchPad (including the Surface 3), but it didn't help, even though those registry settings were present:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad]
    "ScrollDirection"=dword:00000000
    "EnableEdgy"=dword:00000000
    "AAPThreshold"=dword:00000002
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad\Status]
    "Enabled"=dword:00000001

So I did some looking around and it looks like there may not be independent software for the touchpad on this model. First time I've actually come across this. (Regarding disabling touchpad gestures on a Split series notebook.)
I looked in the user guide and it talks about using gestures but no way to disable or enable them. It looks like they may not be able to be disabled on this model.

  • Disable tap to click

I am having a problem with the tap to click "feature" or as I would rather call it, nuisance.  It was easy to disable the tap to click feature in the touch pad driver for Windows 8.0, but the one that Toshiba Service Station suggested for Windows 8.1 seems to have that setting removed.  Is it possible to disable tap to click on my laptop using Windows 8.1?  I have a Satellite c655d-s5300. Any help will be appreciated.  I don't care for this tap to click feature, but I guess I will have to get used to it if the setting to disable it has been taken away.

Nothing. Thanks a lot, Toshiba. And your customer service did exactly zero to tell me how to disable the tap to click, either. They sent me instructions on something that had absolutely nothing to DO with disabling tap to click! What the holy heck is wrong with these people? If you're going to have completely ineffectual customer service, completely ineffectual customer forums, and no --um-- MANUAL THAT I CAN READ, maybe, either online or in the box--that would have been nice-- then can you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE NEVER HAVE A TAP TO CLICK FUNCTION ON YOUR STUPID COMPUTERS EVER, EVER AGAIN? Whew. Sorry for the rant, but after getting no manual, no help from customer service, and no help here, I just had to. No one is listening anyway, apparently. I guess I'll buy a mouse so that I can just disable the stupid touchpad. An extra so many dollars, but fat luck getting any effective answer out of these people at this company, I guess.

  • Permanently disable touchpad on EliteBook 2560p

    Hi,
    I own a HP EliteBook 2560p w/ 8gig RAM, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I don't know the current BIOS version.
On this model I can (de-)activate the touchpad and associated mouse buttons below the touchpad by double tapping a small dot in the upper left corner of the touchpad (http://computershopper.com/var/ezwebin_site/storage/images/media/images/hp-elitebook-2560p-touchpad/...)
Stupidly this is just the same spot where I usually rest my left thumb (just below the left-click of the upper mouse buttons).
When I double click the left mouse button, the trackpad (de-)activates.
What I'd like to know is how do I PERMANENTLY disable the touchpad (w/o opening the casing and disconnecting the cable)?
    Thank you in advance!
    This question was solved.

You definitely should be able to disable to touchpad in the settings. Try following these steps to see if you can find the "Disable TouchPad" option in the Settings.
Control Panel > icon view > Mouse > TouchPad Settings >
(repeat) TouchPad Settings (button) > Click-on Tapping >
CHECK "Double Tap to Enable / Disable TouchPad"
CHECK "Switch TouchPad off for one session"
This should disable your touchpad. Let me know if this does not work.
    Thanks,

  • Facing Strange Problem in DIR HOW TO DISABLE THE RIGHT CLICK MOUSE IN THE DIRECTOR? (through parent script/ movie?)

Summary : HARD QUESTION : In the DIR file, the game runs well, right click = no effect. Coz I'm not making right click scripts. BUT in EXE file, right click = ERROR.
    Explanation :
In the Adobe Director screen, this DIR file game is worked 100%.
I tested right click EVERYWHERE... NOTHING HAPPENS.
Because I don't make any programming with "on rightmouseup" or "on rightmousedown" command.
THEN, I published it into EXE...
I tested right click EVERYWHERE...I hoped the result will be the same as DIR tests....
WHEN I RIGHT CLICK IN THE AREA THAT'S GIVEN ON EXITFRAME ME, IT SHOWS ERROR, CHANGING PICTURES.....
this does not happened in the DIR file...
I didn't make a runmode program or anything else.... This is awkward... mystery for me...
WHY THERE'S A DIFFERENCE IN DIR and EXE... it should be exactly the same result.
I have used Director for years.... This is really strange for me...
    >>>>>>>>HOW TO DISABLE THE RIGHT CLICK MOUSE IN THE DIRECTOR?
THIS ONE is useless.... It doesn't prevent the rightmouse click,...
          on rightmouseup me
                 nothing
         end
          on rightmousedown me
                 nothing
         end

    Dear Adobe Forums friends
I need your help and guide through this problem...
In the game's dir file that is run on the DIRECTOR softwawre,
the game runs perfectly, I can do LEFT CLICKS (coz I programmed the script)
and when I do RIGHT CLICKS = there are no effect ( coz I don't do script for it)
LATER THIS GAME TURNED INTO EXE.
It supposed to run like the dir file as ABOVE. BUT STRANGELY, WHEN
I DO RIGHT CLICKS, it turns Error and showing as the picture attachment.
The right clicks that goes error are above the picture of numeric button only. (in DIR file
this run normal). I looked into the script behind the numeric button picture, there are only "on exitframe me", there are no script I made inside the "on exitframe me" that is triggering RIGHT CLICKS.
    1. I wonder why there are differences in DIR and EXE effect
    2. Why right click? Left click effects are all normal.
    3. IS THERE ANY WAY TO DISABLE ALL RIGHT CLICKs since the beginning of EXE. So the game will be run normal. I don't need right clicks anyway, but whenever people do right click there will be ERROR.??
    4. Is there any way to STOP THE MESSSAGE BOX TO APPEAR IN FRONT OF THE GAME? (I hate the Dirrector Error Message Box), or auto press OK.
NB: this game uses Buddy API Xtras, File IO Xtras.
    Thx
    David S

  • Disable Mouse Right click inside Adobe Acrobat PDF plugin

    Hi All,
We are rendering Adobe live cycle pdf file inside html object tag.
I have disabled toolbar , navigation bar using navpanes=0&toolbar=0.
But when mouse right click reenable the context menu again.
So Is there any way to disable mouse righ click inside Adobe Acrobat PDF browser plugin?

I had the same problem after updating Firefox to version 4.0 and Acrobat Reader to Version X. For me (Win XP) what solve the problem was deleting the Acrobat Reader Plugin (nppdf32.dll) in the Firefox plugin folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins). So now there is only one Acrobat Reader Plugin left namely the one in the Acrobat Reader plugin folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Browser).

  • Disabling touchpad

    Hi everyone!
I have Solaris 10 running XSun server on x86 laptop. I'm using an USB mouse, which gets configured simultaneously with laptop's touchpad when using any of the drivers of kdmconfig available for an USB mouse. Sounds nice, but however I'd like to disable touchpad to avoid accidental mouse actions. How could this be done?
    Any help is appreciated!

    Besides,
I have another mouse-related problem, too. My mouse gets stuck after some JSD use, normally from 15 minutes to half an hour. The problem remains with every driver I've tried, both USB and touchpad. How to cure this?

    Hello Wontsey & Welcome
On 6-4-06 I installed Norton Internet Security 3.0.1 for Mac. I thought maybe my problem was related to the firewall part so I unistalled it and turned the Apple firewall that came with the computer back on.
This did not help. In fact, when I try to open “Help” from the desktop menu the program opens and then immediately closes so I can’t access it.
I hate to have to tell you this Norton is the problem, looking into uninstalling it, the uninstallers that came with it are not effective so no matter you do not have the CD/DVD go to their site to get the Uninstaller
UseCocktail or OnyXto find the invisable files. Just follow Macjacks directive.
This is covered in this Topic thread, abandoning Norton Internet Security see the files Macjack speaks of in the topic thread. This is why i first came to Apple discussions, to get help with the mess Norton can make on Panther and found help as you will. It is not a Safari issue per say, rather a Norton problem.

  • Thinkpad YOGA touchpad loud clicking noise.

I am quite happy with my Yoga and sensitivity of my touchpad, however the clicking sound is ridiculous, it is very loud and can be heard in the next room Someone already uploded a video showing it: http://youtu.be/XPJ7D96EAY8
I have tried new T440p, it has the same type of touchpad, but it is much much smoother and quiter.

Yep, just want to throw in my agreement that the touchpad physical clicks are unusably loud.  Both the upper buttons for the trackpoint and the lower buttons for the trackpad itself.  Lenovo, PLEASE fix this in future versions.  Or in this version.
