T440P - Error Installing WinXP (ACPI compliant error)

HI,
I'm installing WinXPsp2 64bit on T440P.
I'm using nLite to build an instalation image with AHCI Sata Drivers and when I'm installing show a BSOD with 0x000000A5 error say that BIOS is not full ACPI compliant
When I press f7 on install show a menu to select ACPI Multiporcesor x64, ACPI Uniprocessor x64 and Other.
If select Uniprocessor or Multiprocessor the error is the same.
If select Other don't work because I don't have the driver.
How can I  download the driver?
How can I load the driver with nLite?
Can I update or downgrade the BIOS to obtain its compliance.
Thanks.
Cesar.

If you insist on running WinXP in 2015 you need T430 or older.  T440 and newer will not run XP.

Thanks guys you rock!!!
NOTE: I've read so many posts here from members and mods recommending to NOT flash the BIOS unless is inminent...I guess is good advice, but on the MSI website, the only new feature they mention about the 7.9 update is: "Add USB storage bootable function"....but then again, the update fixed my problem (read first post). The log file are not very explanatory. Anybody has any idea? DOes the installation work with WinXP (in the quick guide it is written Win2000 or Win 2003) ?
Thank you,
Paolo

Thank you for the answer.
I run the MMC. The J2EE is there and I started all its task.
Byt what do you exactly mean with "retry for installation"? DO I have to run the installation from INSIDE the MCC?
I simply re-run the installation with the MCC on and it gives the same error:

• Error installing windows xp via bootcamp

Hi guys,
I just bought my macbook pro yesterday and I tried to install windows xp via bootcamp and after the installing it says "setup is starting windows" and then an error saying "session3initializationfailed" came out.
I downloaded windows xp sp3 from my university and burn it into a disk.
Can anybody tell me what's going on or what did i do wrong?
Thanks

Greetings Appelonians
I am privileged to have attained a brand new Macbook Pro 2010. I am not completely new to Apple and have used 'boot camp' on my other iMac's have have owned previously. In the process of installing Windows XP on the new Macbook Pro, I came upon a few challenging errors, some I have solved, but others getting the best of me at them moment. I am going to run through my situation I am at the moment, starting with my initial challenge, the solutions I came up with and at last the cul de sac I am at the moment.
The family of errors all evolved with me trying to install Windows XP on my Mac
A) Windows on my Macbook
1) I used Boot Camp to create a 50gm partition for Windows XP.
2) I booted up with the WinXP Install CD (original)
3) Deleted the Boot Camp Partition, recreating it and formatted it as NTFS.
4) Rebooted and got my first error after choosing to have the Macbook reboot with the newly installed WinXP partition.
Error
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<windows_root>\System32\hal.dll
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
windows_root\System32\hal.dll missing or corrupt:
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.
Error Fix
1) I used a Bootdisk created by BartPE and changed a line in the Boot.ini file. Apparently this issue is due to the fact that the Macbook Pro has a 200Mb partition, the Boot.ini refers incorrectly to the wrong partition when trying to complete the WinXP installation after rebooting.
2) I changed the line in the Boot.ini that refers to the partition as 3 to 2 (see bold below):
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
3) This fixed the issue and Windows started after the reboot, remember still that my WinXP installation is still incompete.
B) Blue Screen of Death
1) During the WinXP run screen, my second error popped up as one of the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, as found at the mentioned link.
2) It seems that this error is caused by a problem with an IDE cable or the BIOS in which case you just replace the cable or reload the fail-safe default settings in the BIOS. However, most of the time this error is caused by some sort of problem with the volume.
3) I booted again with my boot disk and ran 'chkdsk -r' and there after 'fixboot' to fix any errors regarding the volume of the HDD. (Fix can be found at the above mentioned 'Blue Screen of Death' link.)
4) Now I know that Mac does not use a BIOS but a EFI and this is where I am stuck.
All I need is to get WinXP installed properly on my New Macbook Pro. I had no trouble installing WinXP on my other iMacs and this has been the first time I had this issue. I do own a copy of Parallels, but I would like to run WinXP on a seperate partition with the option of either booting up with WinXP as well as using WinXP as Virtual Machine in Snow Leopard.
Hope some one out there can assist me, please.

• HAL.dll error on winxp install

Tried installing XP SP2 on BootCamp (latest Leopard + updates).Launched Bootcamp Assistant, split equally (i need a big ntfs partition for XP) Inserted XP SP2 install CD (original retail version), rebooted. Loaded Bootcamp and showed me that i have a FAT32 partition, this is unacceptable for me so i reformatted it to NTFS by windows setup(Full format). Then it copied setup files and then upon first reboot a message popped windows root/%system32%/hal.dll is corrupt or not available, dont remember exactly how it spelles but this is standart windows setup message when boot.ini is corrupted. So what should i do to make it working for me ?
I'm a convert, i bought my MBP his year in march. I assume that any newbie may had some problems adopting to new archirecture but i almost cannot use my mbp the way it is advertised. All my USb devices are laggy in Leopard, so i installed winxp sp2 on VMWare/Parallels, in winxp is all working but music making software runs very slow in virtual machines so i decided to use bootcamp. And now i even cannot install xp. Sad, i have a gig soon and i will ask my friend to give me his Asus laptop so i can somehow play my live gig.

Here are two ways of fixing the missing hal.dll
using the XP install tools.
Option 1:
Boot from your CD and follow the directions to start Recovery Console. Then:
Attrib -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini
DEL C:\Boot.ini
BootCfg /Rebuild
Fixboot
Option 2:
Boot from your install disc and follow the directions below to start Recovery Console.
Insert the Setup disc and restart the computer. If prompted, select any options required to boot from the CD.
When the text-based part of Setup begins, follow the prompts; choose the repair or recover option by pressing R.
If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access from the Recovery Console.
When prompted, type the Administrator password. (if you didn’t create one try pressing enter).
At the system prompt, type Recovery Console commands; type help for a list of commands, or help commandname for help on a specific command.
Most likely you will need to expand the file from the CD. The command would be expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll. Substitute d: for the drive letter of your CD. Once you have expanded the file type “exit” to exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer.

• Error installing LabVIEW 2011 on Win 7

I'm getting an error installing LabVIEW 2011 Professional:
I found a thread concerning missing MSIs, which suggested that one run setup.exe with the /log function, so I did, but I don't think it actually says anything useful.
I also found a Microsoft download page for WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe, which is the thing that's supposed to be missing. This seems to be an old version of the installer (most recent compatible OS = WinXP SP2), so I don't really feel like installing this on my Windows 7 system.
Help!! Thanks in advance.

Hi Keller,
I'm Jamie an Applications Engineer at NI UK.
It does seem that you are missing some of the necessary support files required for the installer to run correctly, the details of which are available in the KnowledgeBase article here. Did you download the install files or are you installing from disk?
In addition to the setup.exe file, ensure that you have copied the following folders to the target PC or destination folder when creating an installer with LabVIEW.
bin
license
supportfiles
Hope this helps get you up and running with LabVIEW 2011, let me know if you experience any further issues.
Thanks

ERROR:  - Adobe Flash Builder: Install failed

Hi,
Looks as if you have your home folder on VMWare mapped back to the host OS drive, and that's triggering the initial failure in the log you posted. There's a faulty assumption in our installer's home folder logic that you've encountered, where it thinks your home folder is one level above your Documents folder, though we know that's not always true.
Here's a workaround you could try:
- Back up your Documents folder for safe keeping (\\vmware-host\Shared Folders\Documents)
- create a new folder tree named \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\home\Documents. The folder in the middle doesn't need to be named "home", you can call it anything you want, but there needs to be a new folder in the middle. Make sure you have write access to that home folder, as well as to its Documents subfolder.
- in VMWare Windows, reconfigure your User settings, moving your "My Documents" location down to the one created below \home\.
That last step varies a little, depending on which version of Windows you're running. On Win7 you can do it this way:
- in your user home folder (\Users\yourUserName) locate the My Documents icon, and right-click it
- choose Properties
- in the "Location" tab, click Move, and then choose the \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\home\Documents fodler you created earlier on your VMWare host
On Vista, you can right-click the Documents icon in your Start Menu, choose Properties, and from there on it's about the same as on Win7.
On WinXP it looks slightly different:
- right-click your My Documents icon (often on the desktop for convenience), and select Properties
- the tab you want is named "Target" on WinXP, and then you can click Move to relocate it to the same location described earlier.
After moving your Documents location this way, I would reboot first, and then make sure any old copies of FB4 are completely removed before re-installing. I just tested this out on my own VMWare machine (Vista), and it worked here, so with any luck it will work there too.
Let me know how it goes,
-Chris
P.S. We'll be fixing this problem in the next release, but can only offer this workaround for now. Thanks for bearing with us.

Welp, I've come to the conclusion that I am either doing something wrong, or that my installation source (USB flash drive) somehow is corrupt.
I've been avoiding removing the 'asm' symbolic link on my laptop and everything has been going pretty smoothly, but today I decided to install Arch on my desktop computer. I have a Nvidia card and when installing the drivers using Pacman, it runs into conflicts - just like it did when trying to download and install Ndiswrapper.
So, thinking that the asm problem was isolated to my laptop, I went ahead and deleted the symbolic link:
rm /usr/lib/klibc/include/asm
I then list the contents of the 'include' directory and the 'asm-x86' directory is still there and the symbolic link is removed. Perfect.
So I reboot and everything goes smoothy. I install the Nvidia drivers and then decide to examine my 'include' directory again. Oddly enough, the 'asm-x86' directory is gone, and a new directory called 'asm' exists! It appears to have all the same files within. As I expected, I reboot and it drops me into the ramfs command prompt with very limited commands. Now I am not sure if the above is the reason why this keeps happening to me, but it is just something I noticed that changes.
I got curious, loaded Arch from my USB drive, mounted my root partition and then tried to recreate the original directory structure, but no go.
Pacman is awesome and makes things so much easier to install. I'd hate to have to avoid it for certain important installations. If anyone has some updates for me, or any kind of advice - I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

• Error installing motherboard drivers

I recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows XP. When I use the download from HP to reinstall my mother board drivers I keep getting an error: "Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)." in the error window that comes up after I close that message I get: "1800: Error opening file/pathToInstall=FileGet(filename,""). Winbatch 32 2009B. WILversion: 6.09bib." When I do a "Traceback" it shows: "291 pathToInstall=FileGet(fi...instll.wbt)
After I clear my screen of all the error messages the winow showing that, "Lightscribe System Software" is in progress. But nothing happens except the little green bar keeps going round and round and round. How do I fix it or how do I find the drivers that will install?

Most reinstalls require the motherboard drivers at first step.  The chipset drivers first of all. I would wipe the install and try again.   Without the model number it is difficult to give good advice.
BTW: what are you using to install WinXP?  If you use the Recovery DVD set or the Recovery partition, that will also solve any reisntall problems.

• Error "get disk space file error" to install patch p158 to FM 7.2

I have Adobe FM 7.2 with the Patch B144 on Windows 7 x64 and when I try to install the new patch AdobeFrameMaker7_2p158Patcher.exe I get the error "get disk space file error" and the window freeze.

> I have Adobe FM 7.2 with the Patch B144 on Windows 7 x64 and ...
I'm surprised that FM7 even runs native in Win7. I would expect various random problems during FM ops, and a complete inability to reliably use the Acrobat/Distiller5 that came with FM7 (although a later version of Acrobat/Distiller, separately installed, might work, esp. if using a Print-to-Ps-and-Distill workflow).
You need to install FM7 inside a virtual machine. There are several solutions (e.g. Virtual Box) for that, some of which require that the CPU have hardware virtualization. Most AMD chips do. It's often fused-off, however, on low end Intel chips (just because you didn't pay enough).
I've built a Win7 Pro64 PC, and run FM7 in XP Mode (a virtual machine that is a complete instance of Windows XP/32, and not to be confused with Compatibility Mode). XP Mode is a free download from Microsoft, still available, but only for Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional and Ultimate (not Basic, Home or not-so-Premium). Note: XPM is not supported on Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. You'll need a 3rd-party VM for that (and you'll probably have to install your own copy of XP in any 3rd party VM).
If your chip is AMD, there's a hotfix patch (KB 2519949 as I recall) you need to install before you do anything else about XPM. This patch is not included in any of the 200+ Windows Updates that a virtualized XP wants you to install, in several waves (yes, this takes a while).
And from a related discussion:
>> Microsoft no longer support WinXP, does it a risk to use it?
After you install XP in the VM, and apply all 200+ Windows Updates, and install the apps you need:
disable the VM's networking capability*
or at the very least never use a browser inside the VM
if possible, let the AV software in the host OS access the VM's virtual drive
MS is going to EOL Windows 7 in 2015Q2 as well.
* For some apps, the networking would need to be on periodically for license validation.

• E: Error installing CMOS-RTC region handler

I could not find the right topic under which this would go, and decided to put it in my corner since I may be forgiven such a slight indiscretion here.
On wake up from suspend I get an error
Error installing CMOS-RTC region handler
Internet searches revealed nothing but source code and from this I deduced that it is something that has to load the region handler on an ACPI namespace scan.
Upon further investigation it seems that on x86 architectures the RTC gets handled differently on boot and that is why this error only occurs at resume after suspend.
Could someone perhaps point me in an appropriate direction regarding this?

Hey, so I don't use suspend and yet with the 3.15.4 and 3.15.5 kernels, I get this on each boot (be it cold boots or restarts) on my work laptop (an Intel i3-2370M):
dmesg | grep CMOS-RTC
[ 13.718504] ACPI: Error installing CMOS-RTC region handler
I don't remember seeing it with 3.15.3 or before that and it's not happening with any of the LTS series of kernels that I run or with 3.15.0-1-ARCH. So, I reckon it's a kernel update. Let me downgrade and report back.
Reporting back: I have it with 3.15.3/4/5-ARCH, 3.15.3/4/5-lqx AND 3.15.3/4/5-ck-pax but not 3.15.2 or any patched version before that. I reckon it's a kernel bug introduced with 3.15.3.
@hzy199411, gremble: Could the both of you please try downgrading your kernels (no need to try other branches, just the ones your currently using) through the various versions and report back please?

• Running horribly (stop errors installing XP or 2003)

P4 3.2GHz, HT enabled
Kingston DDR400 3-3-3 unbuffered non ecc
865PE Neo2-FIS2R
MSI FX5950 ultra 256mb no OC
Antec Trueblue 480W
Maxtor 80GB IDE on ata100
Samsung 120GB IDE on onboard promise ata133
Maxtor 250GB sata on the promise controller
BIOS - mostly default settings... need help here too
trying to install WinXP + SP1
my problem:
if i disable EVERYTHING including the l1 l2 cache and leave HT enabled, i can get xp to install VERY slowly.
if i enable l1 l2 cache, i get the bsod stop errors 'IRQL not less or equal'
so for now its installing VERY slowly.
i'm hoping to get XP installed so i can at least update all drivers and everything.
this is not easy for me.
can anyone give me a helping hand at configuring this system properly? basically what i need is for someone to go through with me what my bios settings should be so that the system runs properly.
i've built 6 systems and never had issues like this before. thanks in advance, and i apologize for my 'noobism'

hey thanks for the quick reply!
i'll try moving the samsung to the ata 100.
right now its finally installing windows 2003. its taking a ridiculously long time. says 26 minutes left. it takes 30 minutes for every one minute to go by :(
i'm trying to install windows on the maxtor 80gb drive on the ata100 up top.
how should i configure bios for the one sata drive on the promise controller? i'm a newb with all this new technology.
my plan is to have my music archive on the 250gb drive, developmental stuff on the 120 (web/graphic design, video editing), and windows with apps and games installed on the 80gb
so basically i'm asking this:
where should i plug each drive?
i have 80gb as master of IDE2 (blue one) and i'll move the samsung to slave of ide2
i have my 2 cd roms set on the IDE1 (pioneer dvd master, mitsumi 54x burner slave)
and then the 250gb sata is on SATA4 right now. where should it be?
also, bios settings. as you said i have to set stuff up in ide config, what values should i have there?
and for memory timing and all that... should i leave it default?
and why am i getting stop errors with l1 l2 cache enabled?
thanks a lot again in adavance. i hope you can answer these ones now

• T60p acpi irq error - Vista Business 32

My system will hang occassionally when powering up. System process shows 100% cpu utilization. Battery will get very hot quickly when this happens, and very hot air blowing out of the vents. Hard reboot will eventually resolve issue. Sometimes requires 2-4 hard reboots before issue goes away.
Recently upgraded to Vista SP2, updated BIOS and all Lenovo software and software drivers (specifically Power Manager and ACPI drivers), still occassionally receive hanging issue. Thought it was only when powering up on battery power, but found issue resurfaced when plugged in as well.
Msinfo32 shows all IRQ's as ok, unable to open msinfo32 when system hangs as msinfo32 hangs.
Vista reports issue as ACPI IRQ error and points me to Lenovo. Unable to determine exact cause.
Battery/AC adapter product numbers not listed as those to be recalled.
This is a factory configured system, no hardware changes or special software installed.
Is anyone experiencing a similar issue?

I am not having that level of problem, but I am being told that there is a device that can't be loaded because of "ACPI IRQ Holder".  I also don't have any any audio output devices now.
