[T440p, HD+] Autodimming of the screens backlight at dark images
I have an issue with the (HD+) display of my T440p.
It dims the background lighting gradually when I just view dark images (i.e. an editor with a dark color scheme like sublime: http://images.six.betanews.com/screenshots/1255718643-1.png). By doing this, it gets close to unreadable.
When I switch back so not so dark content, the screen gets brighter again - also rather slow.
I already switched off the adaptive brightness under the powersettings of Windows 8.1.
Did you also recognize such a behaviour or do you know how to fix it?

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If you have already disabled adaptive brightness in Power settings of Windows, try this.
Bring up the charms bar by moving the mouse to bottom right corner or Win+C.
Next, tap 'Settings' and now in the bottom right corner, tap Change PC Settings and then PC and devices. Under Power and sleep, turn off “Adjust my screen brightness automatically”.
Still if you find that your screen continues to automatically adjust brightness, please try the following as well.
Right click on the desktop and select "Graphics properties." Now, select the "on battery" tab and turn off "Display Power Saving Technology.

When I open dark images, my iPad has this yellow like spots around the screen next to the bezel. It only happens when there is a dark screen like for instance when a YouTube video is loadeding or when I have dark pictures. Is this normal.? Or should I take it to the Apple Store.?
first of all was your ipad dropped on a hard floor or something if not then you should just take it to apple as that is not normal you should probably get the device replaced

My iPhone3GS has started crashing. I'll be mid-phone call, or using an app, when the screen will go dark. I'll have to do a restart. It dumps to the warning screen that there's no power and needs to be plugged in.
Once I connect the phone to a power source, in a couple of minutes it's ready to roll again, and displaying a "full battery" icon.
The phone is almost always fully charged when this happens, and I don't get a crash when the phone is plugged into a power source.
Took my iphone to apple store, they informed that battery is very good and there is no need for replacement. Might be there is a problem with iphone motherboard. But they can't repair it as my 3GS crossed warranty.
Where should I go to repair this. Within 2 years...this 32GB 3GS is almost garbage for me with no support from apple. I am ready to send it to apple for repairs and pay the repair charges.
I tried everything... deep reset ... factory settings .... nothing is working... Apple staff pl. take care of your customers ...This is a User to User Forum... You are Not Addressing Apple here...

After upgrading to Mavericks on my MacBook, I'm not able to download third party applications like Dropbox and MyCleanMac 2. After clicking the download button, the screen just turns dark and is frozen. Any idea what is happening?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

Hello I just found a problem with my Ipod nano 6th generation. It worked fine an hour ago but then the screen turned a dark grey. Did the restore through Itunes and then it went white. But now it's totally unresponsive and seems to be off even when it is plugged into itunes. Can't even restore it. I get Error 1415?

i tried to turn off the voice over thing on my iphone and now the screen is completely dark i don't know what to do now...help! ima go crazy without out my phone
ok so this is what i did i finally got it to work...so i taped the black screen with 3 fingers and then it went back to normal and it ****** me off because i had tryed that already so when it goes back to normal even if the voice over is still on it is easy to turn it off if you follow the steps....lol i googled how to turn off voice over so google it

My iPod screen got broken and some water got on it! The screen has gotten darker due to the moisture but otherwise the iPod still works except for the sound! I have no sound anymore! What can I do? Pleas help!

Satellite Pro M10: image on the screen is very dark
I have a Satellite Pro M10 Notebook that has a black screen, i.e. the back light doesn't work. There is an image on the screen but it is very dark. When connecting an external monitor I get a normal image on that monitor.
From information gathered from other posts here I conclude that there is a problem with the backlight of the lcd screen or the inverter. I checked all connections, but that didn't solve the problem. If I bring the laptop to a service center what will it approx. cost to have it repaired? The thing is 2-3 years old, so if it is very expensive I might better get a new laptop.
I'm sure I will be able to change to inverter board myself, but how will I be able to determine that the inverter is the problem? How to obtain a new inverter? Does anyone of you know the right product number?

I agree with Tobi. You description sounds like a faulty FL-inverter.
This part is placed behind the LCD screen under the lid cover.
As mentioned this part isnt very expensive and you could order it from the Toshiba service partner in your country. But please note that if you have no replacements experiences so you should ask the technicians for the help. -

To restore your iPhone, connect it to iTunes and hold down the Power/Sleep button simultaneously with the Home button. Keep both buttons pressed down until your iPhone powers off. When your iPhone turns off, release the Power/Sleep button, but keep the Home button depressed until iTunes detects the iPhone (it should detect restore mode).
Once iTunes detects your iPhone in restore mode, hit the “Restore” button to get your crashed out iPhone back to working order. -
ok i had my e65 a fews days now and i have
nearly figured out everything as in all
the functions with the exception of these,
which i need help with.
1, when the sreensaver comes on i notice
that its too dark and i mean, if i wanted
to quickly look at the time and/or date
i have to focus properly to see it, i cant
quickly glance on it as other phones
is there some sort of control to adjust the
clock on the screensaver to turn the brightness
or contrast up a bit that i may have
overlooked ?
2, whats the real purpose of this light sensor
on the top right hand corner ?
i have covered it a few times in day light and

nope i have not figured them out yet... the screen saver is too dark and that light sensor must be some sort of joke.

the light sensor really annoys me to look at knowing it serves no purpose at all and after using a few other screen savers its too bloodly dark. it would of been better if nokia had put nothing there at all at least this way i could understand that there is nothing to look at.
as for the slow capture actions of the camera..... well i will leave that for another time

apart from that though the nokia e65 is the best ever phone i have used to date. connecting via VPN or SSH to my home server is a breeze, using SIP with www.sipgate.co.uk is like talking on a house phone (very clear) the internet is fast even with the stock browser.

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons

If it's new then take it back to where you bought it and get replacement or you're $ back. New should work perfect out of the box

My screen is dark, yet backlit. Have "jump" started it twice. Have restored it from iTunes and it is up to date. How can I get it to respond? I have tried to sweep across screen even though it is dark to get to regular screen.
the screen is as normal, it invites me to 'slide to unlock' shows the time, date and wifi connection. There is also the camera icon in the bottom right corner. The only other thing on the display is two small bars (equal shape and size) located at the top and bottom of the screen, dead centre. basically a thicker '-' (minus sign).
The screen revolves when turned, the home button brings the ipad out of power save mode, the sleep button invites me to 'slide to power off' and the ipad does reset, showing the Apple symbol, however has no effect on the problem.
