The parts list shows that Hitachi, Toshiba and Western Digital drives are used, to find out exactly which is fitted in a unit the serial number will be required as Lenovo will use whichever is available at the time of manufacture, (although over the years my experience says Hitachi seems to be the first choice manufacturer by Lenovo, but this is no guarantee).
You can select the parts list on the following site where you will also notice that none of the 1TB drives have 7200RPM.
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsDBLookup.page
The 20ANCTO1WW is a Construct To Order system, it will have the size and speed of drive you choose when ordering, it will not be possible to choose the drive's manufacturer

  • Which hdds are compatible with hp pavilion dv6700t cto entertainment notebook pc (out of warranty)

I recently purchased a Seagate momentus as replacement http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148591 thinking it would be compatible but when i tried to replace
the connections(interface) was not compatible with the laptop. Is there an adapter to resolve this problem?
if not which hdds are compatible?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
If you have the original HDD, check that there is not a black plastic adapter that you can pull off the old drive and fit to the new one.

Today I called a few stores and Apple Authorized Service Provider in my country, Croatia. All they told me, whether from ignorance or do not know why ... Do I have to buy onlyoriginal HDD to Apple because we second HDD my MacBook Pro will not recognize. I do not know what to do. HDD 2.5", 750GB, 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM, 8 or 16 MB of Cash in the IT shop costs around 60 USD, while the Apple service costs 150 USD. Now what to do, buy a SATA III drive 2.5" in the IT shop or twice as expensive as the Apple service. Please help me !!

  • Which HDD interface for which drives?

    Hello,
I have read Harm's and others' excellent advice on drive configuration, but am not sure about which drives to put on which interfaces.  Assuming an X99 motherboard has 2 M.2 PCIE sockets, 1 SATA Express port, 1 SATA Express controller with 1 port, 8 SATA 6 GBs, and possibly a PCT RAID card.  Which of these connectors would you use for which drive, and why?  (I suppose another way to ask this might be which hdd uses benefit the most from increased speed--OS, application, pagefile, media, etc?)
Also, closely related, one thing I cannot discern from what I have read so far is where lies the point of diminishing returns. For a system used for a mix of Premiere/Photoshop/AE, using as HaswellE, 32Gb, and say a 980, how many drives and how much drive throughput is required to prevent HDD from being a significant bottleneck?
    Thanks for any thoughts!!

Normally PCI-E slots are a premium for editing systems and config options so I don't recommend wasting those on NVMe drives or adapter cards. I would suggest the Sata ports for storage usage and a SSD OS drive for sure. A SSD cache drive is a good idea as well provided it's big enough. Normally you want a 256GB Cache drive if so.

  • Which HDD is compatible with HP 120W Advanced Docking station (NZ222AA)

Please tell me which HDD is compatible with integrated SATA upgrade bay of the HP 120W Advanced Docking Station (NZ222AA).. I can't find the info neither in user's manual nor at HP site. Thanks in advance.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
    Please check this:
While neither station can be upgraded, both feature an upgrade bay that allows you to install an extra hard drive. If you choose to install the extra drive, you will add additional gigabytes to your current laptop storage space. However, if you choose to take advantage of the extra space, a standard hard drive will not fit in the upgrade bay. HP offers a 500GB hard drive specifically designed for the upgrade bay on the 120W and 230W; you would need to order the upgrade hard drive through HP.

  • IMAC 2010 which HDD can I use to replace the malfunctioned Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB?

iMAC 2010 which HDD can I use to replace the malfunctioned Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB?

After doing a bit more research, the 2010 iMacs do appear to have a third cable connecting to the  hard drive, for the internal temp sensor.  This would appear to be the block of 8 pins that are on almost all drives, but they are normally intended for jumpers.  Unfortunately I was unable to find any documentation or specs that would indicate this pin block connects to the internal temp sensor on either standard (non-Apple) WD Black or Seagate 7200.12 drives.
I did find some info that may be of some use:
WD: Where to connect an external temperature sensor to a Serial ATA or EIDE hard drive.iFixit: Replace the hard drive, how do I connect the hard drive thermal sensor?
    Apple Technician Guide: iMac 2010 27" (mid-2010)
Various discussion threads I found through google searching indicated some people succeeded with installing an external temp sensor on the body of the drive.
    Sorry I couldn't help more.

  • Choosing which HDD as the master boot

I got a Product name: HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC and recently I've replace the stock HDD to a 1TB SSD HDD which was working fine with the HP provided recovery solution.
Then I bought another msata 500GB SSD HDD thinking to use it as a secondary HDD (Say D drive). However it seem to be causing the windows OS to fail and I keep going back to a loop saying there's error with Windows. I suspect is due to msata as a master boot HDD instead of the 1TB SSD.
The rom setting only comes with a "Notebook harddisk" option in the boot sequence option. Is there a way to explicting indicating which HDD to boot at? Primarily I like to keep the 1TB as main WIndows to boot then Msata

<<Then once you retire the XP. You will need to choose one of the other machines as the main one. >>
How do I choose the main one? I have read many of the docs and never found a hint about this.
Setting up Sync has been very difficult. The system messages are unclear...it's not even possible to know if a machine is set up unless you know the "secret" about seeing "Set Up Sync" on the menu. Might be logical to the developer but not to this end-user.
Last night I was running back and forth for hours trying to set it up on my PC's. My notes include six sets of 12-character codes and one of those long password strings. When the link-up fails, there's no error message.
Last night I renamed the whole feature "Firefox Stync" I was so frustrated. Who designed this anyway? Pardon the rant but it obviously was not tested by end-users, judging from the huge volume of questions it generates.

  • Help! -Recovery media and which HDD fits?-

Recently went to my local Geek Sqaud "best buy" and had it checked out. What my error was (Recovery) 0xc00000f " PC needs to be repaired" geek squad said it was a hardrive issue, thus needing it to be replaced. They told me I needed "HP recovery media" and an HDD. Matter in fact I don't know which "Recovery media" nor which HDD I need for my notebook. If anyone can help please let me know asap on what I can do.
Update: I've checked the prices for recovery medias, but how about the HDD??
One more thing if I'm trying to recover the laptop that was running 8.1, do I buy the recovery media for 8.1 ??

I'm sorry the shipping took so long. However, I just wanted to point out that you can make your own recovery media and are encouraged to do so by the documentation that came with the laptop.

  • T440p Ultrabay caddy HDD rails/spacer

I bought the official Lenovo Ultrabay IV caddy for my T440p but apparently I need a spacer to ensure the HDD does not move around in it. Currently there's a 3mm gap on all sides of the HDD. Can someone point me in the right direction?
The HDD is a Travelstar 7K1000, so it's exactly the right size for the caddy (2.5", 9.5mm). I tried the plastic surround from the main drive bay, but even that allows a slight bit of movement, which is obviously a no-no for a mechanical drive. I'm at a loss what I'm supposed to use, short of literally jamming some strips of plastic in the gaps.

Great hdd you've got.  Just use some dual sided tape and your problem is solved.  Snag a small roll for a buck at the dollar store.  More importantly, why did you spend $70 on the "official" Lenovo caddy when they are $9 on ebay?

  • Which Macbook Pro 15.4" or 17" and which HDD

    Hi,
since last days I'm reading and reading online too so decide first between 15.4" and 17" Macbook Pro 2011. Currently I use a 2.5 years old Dell Studio 17"
I'm currently always changing my decision between both, SD card which I'd need for the camera pictures, but then 3 USB slots on 17", cheaper 15.4" ...
Any suggestions from your side? Want to buy the not glossy one.
Another decision is to take the 750GB 5400rpm HDD or the 500GB 7200rpm HDD. Any suggestions on these? Price is not different between both.
Which differences are in battery life and speed? Currently 500 GB would be enough. Got 600GB now and 220 free, and could delete at leats min 100.

I went with the 500GB as the extra speed is noticeably, but it really depends on what you plan on doing with the MBP.
I eventually put in an 80GB SSD and put the 500GB in an external firewire enclosure, where I put most of the non-application files, though that was just what I could afford at the time.
I don't think there will be a huge hit in battery life between the two. While the 7200 might feasibly take more power to do things, it will do them faster and vice versa for the 5400. Don't forget that, depending on your model (I am not familiar with the speces of the 2011), the HDD is sometimes user replaceable and you can just put in your own HDD, going for one that has speed and storage.

  • Which HDD Camcorder

    Hello all,
I figured this was the best place to post this. I'm looking for some constructive feedback. I am planning on purchasing a Hard Disk Drive Camcorder sometime in the next 6 months. I intend to shoot the typical family footage along with some amature nature stuff. Indoor, and outdoor use applies here. Mostly, I'm worried about it's compatability with my MacBook (Running 10.5). I've been looking at the Sony models (DCR-SR62, DCR-SR82, etc.), and like their light weight, size of hard drive, and placement of buttons. I'm looking to spend somewhere under the $650 range.
I'm looking for feedback regarding what YOU think is the best camera (brand and model) and why.

Call me a "traditionalist" and you probably will be right, but before I buy a HDD video camera, I would compare the advantages and disadvantages between Tape based camcorders and HDD ones, and you may want to refer to the site below (and others).
    http://www.cnet.com.au/camcorders/camcorders/0,239035915,240061716,00.htm
Despite some disadvantages, the Tape based format is the best choice in terms of image quality; more compression is applied to HDD and as you would know, you will compress further when you burn to a DVD. At the end of the process you finish up with a very compressed piece of video, resulting in loss of details and image clarity.
If easy access to your material is a major factor in your choice of Camera, keep in mind that, as you burn to DVD, you can have your chapters which gives you such access. And forget about in-camera editing which is a feature of HDD !
Also keep in mind that Discs can be very easily damaged, if you drop them for instance; they can end up with scratches etc ... which make them un-readable. With HDD you also have to "render" in camera and that process may take some time.
Familly type footage is an extremely valuable asset hich you will want to treasure for many years to come. Prices have come down a lot in recent years and I would even suggest you consider the purchase of a tape based HD camera such as the Sony HC7 or Canon HV20. One drawback for me with those two is that the viewfinder does not swivel, but that may not worry you. You'd have to pay a lot more to get that feature. You are about to make a long time investment here, and remember, you get what you pay for !
Finally, I would also suggest you use iMovie 6.
All the best in your hunt.
    jc

  • Which HDD for my MBP early 2008

    I have a MBP (4.1 - MBP41.00C1.B00) early 2008 with an Hitachi 200GB 5400rpm.
I am planning to upgrade to a 500GB HDD and honestly I made up my mind in going to Hitachi 500GB HDD instead of other drives such as Seagate, Samsung or WD.
I had actually made up my mind in going for the Hitachi 500GB 7200 rpm 16MB cache - 7k500 (HTS725050A9A364), however while reading some of the posts I came to find out that my SATA i/f only supports 1,5Gb/s.
My question is, does anyone with a similar MBP and similar limitation of 1.5Gb/s gone for this HDD? Does it make sense at all? Is it better than the 5400 rpm 500GB Hitachi version (HTS545050B9A300)?
Do I get any performance increase in going for the 7200rpm hdd instead of the 5400rpm hdd? and does this performance compensate for the increase in the temperature and decrease in battery life that I am going to have?
Does anyone have a similar experience?
I have seen several forums where people recommend the 7k500 but its not clear if they have an early 2008 MBP with a 1,5Gb/s limitation as I have. Does is make sense at all going for a 7200 rpm hdd in my machine? or should I just go for the 5k500 5400 rpm hdd?
Can anyone help me on this?
    Thanks a lot!

I have a similar problem (and am hoping that someone replies to yours).
I have an early 2008 MBP, 15", with a FUJITSU MHY2250BH 250GB internal hard drive. I'm also planning to swap in a 500GB drive.
On Newegg I came to the conclusion, from user reviews by macbook pro users, that the Fujitsu MJA2500BH-G2 was trouble-free and utterly silent (sound being way more important to me than speed) – but it looks like it's been discontinued, and the reports on the Fujitsu MJA2500BH (not -G2) are less enthusiastic.
From the reviews on Newegg, some people report having had problems with the Hitachi drives you mention (both the 7200 and 5400 versions) in use with Macbook Pros, but, as you said, it's often unclear which MBPs those people were using the drives in, and if the early 2008 MBPs would have these issues...
Did you make a purchase yet?
Any other early 2008 MBP users want to suggest a silent drive for upgrade?

  • Which HDD-brand is usually build into a Satellite A200-29L originally?

    Hello there, im new here.
I got a question for you, maybe someone here can help me with this.
I got an old, used Toshiba Satellite A200 29L here and i ask myself which harddrive i supposed to be in this when bought originally.
The notebook is atleast 5 years old, probably even older.
At the moment there is a Fujitsu harddrive with 250 GB in it, but i wanted to know if this is the laptops original harddrive with which it was sold back then in store.
The reason i ask myself this question is that this notebook has been with me for a while and i can't remember if i ever changed the harddrive of it or not. This problem gets more aggravated as i just found a 500 GB harddrive of the company Toshiba here and i can not remember of which notebook i would have removed that.
I found this (might be in german):
    http://www.toshiba.de/discontinued-p...lite-a200-29l/
Here it is written that this notbook comes with a 250GB harddrive (although the manufacturer of it is not mentioned).
    On the other hand:
    http://www.amazon.de/TOSHIBA-Satelli.../dp/B00518EOKI
Based on this link it seems that there are official 500 GB harddrives for this notebook as well.
I know this might be a strange question, but i am pretty sure that some of you got an answer for me here
Thank you in advance and best regards.

Maybe it sounds stupid now but it is not possible to find such information. All we can find is the HDD capacity. In the notebook specification is not mention which brand is the HDD.
Maybe someone with identical notebook model can help you.
Anyway, you can exchange or upgrade HDD anytime you want. All you need is SATA HDD (SATA connector).
Satellite A200 is pretty old notebook model but what you can do is to upgrade it with SSD and install Win7 32bit. Believe me you will be surprised how fast this old piece of hardware can be.
