T440p wifi slow reconnect after sleep

Hi,
I have a T440p with the intel 7260AC wifi card. I recently upgraded my HDD to an SSD and did a clean windows 7 install. Now, when waking up from sleep, it alwas takes about a min before it reconnects to a wifi network. The reconnect used to be instantaneously.
I turned off the setting in power management of the Intel 7260AC to "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". But this didn't solve the problem. I also have the latest intel wifi 7260AC drivers 17.0.2.5.
Anybody knows what could be causing this?

Did you also install Access Connections?

  • Slow reconnect after sleep

My early 2006 iMac takes a long time to reconnect to my wireless network after sleeping. It finds the network no problem just takes up to a minute to "wake up" and find and join the network. Is there any way to speed up this process? My Macbook connects about ten times faster after coming out of sleep so it has to be something with the iMac and not the network.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Wireless slow reconnect after sleep.

After my laptop wakes from sleep it takes about 30 seconds for it to reconnect to my wireless network. Windows does this almost instantly. Is there any way I can get this to happen instantly?

Could be a timeout setting (I assume you're using NetworkManager).  I have the same issue, but usually take the 15-30 seconds to think about what I'm going to accomplish next

  • Windows 7 brightness reverts back, wifi takes long to reconnect after sleep

    Hi fellow members,
My brightness setting keeps reverting to max. I have tried setting via power manager and also from control panel.I can adjust but when the computer restarts, the brightnes reverts to max. It started happeing around a month ago. I didn't have these issues until about 2 months ago. I have had my x301 for over an year without issues.
Another issue I have been experiencing is that wifi takes a long time to reconnect after sleep. About 5 minutes. This is also a new issue.

Check in the Windows power profile for the brightness issue. Windows will apply it's own at boot, then Power Manager will override, which leads to a momentary discrepancy.

  • Solution for 'my mac will not reconnect after sleep'

After lots of trial and errors I found the way around the problem of dropped or very poor wireless connection after you put your mac to sleep.
I have no idea what the problem really is but this procedure has stopped me from throwing my brand new MacBook through the window.
    1) Go to System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced
    2) Remove any network you have there memorized
    3) uncheck option 'Remember any network this computer has joined' (leave the other options also unchecked)
    4) press ok and switch AirPort off ... then on (make sure you have 'Show AirPort status in menu bar' checked)
Now the only real change we've made is to stop Mac memorizing our network - but here lies the solution.
Put your MacBook to sleep and than wake it up. It will not connect to the network (none are memorized) but all you have to do is choose your network name from the list on the menu bar. It might ask you for the key but in my case it simply asks for permission to use my KeyChain (memorized WPA2 password).
Once I press 'Allow' .... it works as it should! eureka!
Do not check 'Remember this network' when asked for password.
As long as Mac does not store your network details it reconnects without problems, once you allow it to store these details, re-connection after sleep goes pear-shape.... figure it out Apple!
I hope this might help you (as it most certainly works for me)
    best regards
    ffar

I've run Keychain utility. I also removed (as suggested in various places) any entries referring to my wireless password in KeyChain and allowed them to be memorized again. It doesn't change a thing.
Please understand me correctly. My Airport does re-establish connection automatically (if network details are stored) but connection is extremely flaky, slow and with frequent dropouts. So the Keychain is not to blame here (I think).
If I establish connection 'semi-manually', as described in my previous post, it is perfect, just as it should be. This would indicate to me that the problem lies not with the Keychain, but in the way OS stores network details.
If I do not allow OS to keep network details - re-connection works.

  • No wifi re-connect after sleep - It's caused by Bluetooth!

After upgrading to 10.5.3 my Air would no longer connect to my wifi network after sleep.
I have made no system chnages and it always worked before.
    After much testing......
Turn Bluetooth off, problem gone. My Air reconnects to my network after wake.
Turn Bluetooth back on and it no longer connects after wake.
    Can anybody else confirm....
Would could be causing this and how is it fixed?

    Hello,
I have been having a large amount of problems on my MacBook (Tiger) when trying to re-connect to wifi after sleep (lid and button), to the point where using prefs>network, I couldn't even connect. I could sometimes get it to reconnect with a full reboot but the was intermittent - my issue was predominately on N (which I use a lot) although G was very flaky with a lot of connection dropping also.
Have tried everything, went to the Mac Store and had a new logic board and Wifi card
Upon returning from the MacStore the sleep issue was still a problem and having read this post, I played around with my bluetooth and found that after sleep it started to reconnect again intermittently in either Off, On (not discoverable) and On (Discoverable). I then by chance realised my wireless keyboard was in the cupboard close by. I turned it off and reconnected it and it seems to have cured my problem. I have yet to try with keyboard on but in the past when it has been in permanent use I have never had an issue. So try resetting your bluetooth and your mice and keyboard and doing a full reconnect.

  • Wireless network does not automatically reconnect after sleep

I have a Belkin wireless G+ mimo modem router network. When I wake the mac from sleep it does not automatically reconnect to my wireless network and i have to manually select the network from the airport icon in the menu bar and then it connects without having to reenter my secure password. How do i set the mac to auto connect to the network after sleep? There are about 6 other wireless networks in range which may be effecting this reconnection.

In may case the network was already at the top of the preferred networks list.
Based of of a hint over at MacOSXhints.com, here's how I fixed this problem:
    1. In the Network references pane, delete the Airport connection that does not like to reconnect.
    2. Click Apply and Quit the System Prefs app.
    3. Put the computer to sleep.
    4. Wake the computer.
    5. Go back in to the Network pref pane and re-add the Airport connection. Do not try to connect to the network at this time.
    6. Click Apply and Quit the System Prefs app.
    7. Use the Airport menubar app to connect to your network.
    8. Verify connectivity
    9. Put the computer to sleep.
    10. Wake the computer.
    11. Verify connectivity
My machine now consistently reconnects when coming out of sleep or restarting.
    God luck!

  • How to make trackpad automatically reconnect after sleep?

I have a magic trackpad and an MB Pro.
When I return to the computer after it has been sleeping overnight, the magic trackpad will not reconnect automatically.  If the computer sleeps briefly, the connection is restored automatically.  If the trackpad is powered off after sleep, it will reconnect when powered on.  But after a long sleep, or perhaps when I have disconnected the laptop for a while I cannot easily make it reconnect.
It will not reconnect if: I click the power button, click the trackpad, select the trackpad by name and connect from the bluetooth menubar item, connect manually through bluetooth preferences, or turn off the trackpad entirely then turn it on again (force into discovery mode).
The only somewhat reliable way I have found to reconnect is: 1) turn off trackpad power, 2) go to trackpad preferences, 3) set up bluetooth device, 4) power on trackpad, 5) select continue when device is found.
When disconnected, in bluetooth preferences, the device is shown as being paired.  I added it to Favorites.  It is discoverable.  Battery power is good.
I can reproduce the same symptoms with these steps: 1) put the computer to sleep, 2) manually turn off the trackpad, 3) turn on the trackpad again (it blinks, indicating attempt to discover), 4) wake the computer.
Can anyone help me find a less time-consuming way to re-establish a connection when the computer wakes from sleep?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the 'root bridge' in Access Point mode but the remote devices did not try to reconnect. I also tried 'non-root bridge', 'root bridge with network clients', 'automatic' etc. I let it sit for a few minutes after each change to see if it helped.
I've going to change it to 'Access Point' again and leave it overnight to see if one of the three remote Workgroup Bridges that are currently unavailable will re-connect.
I know if I ask the site electricians to power the remote Workgroupd Bridges off and on they will connect for a while - its quite frustrating!
    Thanks again

I am assuming that this is related to my slow computer after waking from sleep.  Every click has delayed reaction up to spinning beach ball in length.  Went to console log and see this same message repeating over and over and over.  What does it mean?  How do I fix it?  Is it related to the slowdown?
    Thanks

Ok...  Sometimes Mail will abort the restart that I am trying to do to get the system back to normal speed so I was wondering about that "plug-in" which appears to be more than a plug in.  It put a bundle in my Library/Mail folder that can't be deleted...
Here is my log now which starts showing errors as soon as I reboot... I am backing up now.  It seems that there should be something that I could remove without a clean install, but I can't figure it out from this....Thanks for the insight...

  • WiFi must manually reconnect after sleep (since updating to 10.9.4)

My MacBook Air (Mid 2011) just updated to 10.9.4 and now the WiFi doesn't reconnect to my home network when I resume from sleep (open the lid). I need to click the WiFi icon and re-choose the home network each time.
This is new since I updated. Ironically, when I read the update notes, it was supposedly to fix this type of issue from occurring in the first place, and yet I never had the problem until after I updated.

  • Mbp wont reconnect after sleep

Used to be able to just put to sleep by closing cover and reopen. It would reconnect before I had it all the way open. Now I have to connect it manually every time. Only happens at some locations - other locations still work. Read somewhere about similar WiFi names but not sure that is the problem.

    Hi Guy's,
I bought my MBP last Thursday and it was working fine until 2 days ago when I got the checkerboard after only a few minutes of use. Hardware check gave back the Failure code: 4SNS/1/40000000:'Tm0P' which I sent to Apple but no reply yet.
I'm bringing it back to the shop first thing tommorrow morning. I don't have time to wait a week or two for them to fix the problem especially if their "motherboards" all got the same hardware onboard. I haven't been able to spot any stories by Apple about this issue.
Looks like Apple has a QA issue with their ATI-X1600, or that the QA issue is ATI's all the way.

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.
Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer.   See these basic networking KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

Also, run the Airport Utility app which is located inside the Utilities folder.

If using a  Linksys router, contact LinkSys Customer Support and/or post in their forums.
If using Apple's Airport, please re-post over in one of the AirPort Forums.

but i will then be without it for weeks which i cannot afford to miss at the minute,
If it does come down that, CALL AppleCare and request a replacement until yours is repaired.

  • Windows 8.1 wifi not working after sleep (and other various bugs)

Hello Apple support forum, this is my first post!
Alright, so I just switched to my first mac. MBP Retina late '13. I bought it primarily to run windows, and to also of course use OS10.
My issues in bootcamp however are getting annoying. My Wifi shows up as connected after I resume from sleep, but my mac won't let me disable wifi, enable airplane mode and then re-enable wifi, nothing. The only way to get wifi to work when resuming from sleep is to reboot.
I just set hibernate when close lid on all my power modes, and basically disabled sleep for now. Hibernate works fine for now, but sleep is much faster from resume and also I'm not sure if the machine will wake up from a simple tap on the keyboard or opening of the lid, I think I have to actually boot it all over again anyways.
My other minor but still annoying issue is my titles of windows in windows are showing up as black (screenshot here)
the only other thing I was curious about was the dual-gpu functionality. I know from reading these forums it's probably not possible because of the hardware and software mesh apple created for OSX and their dual-gpu design, how it wouldn't really work in windows. I'm just wondering if anyone ever got this to work in windows maybe on the older retina MBP or older macs, or if anyone is making progress on trying to fix that in windows? I bought this laptop expecting that to work, even the geniuses at the Apple store said it would be possible, I was misled and might have second-gussed buying a 3k machine if it would only get a few more hours battery than my old Vaio. I bought this machine primarily for battery life.
I'm just remembering another tiny tiny issue. When I plug headphones in the headphone jack in windows, it doesn't automatically switch to that audio output, I have to manually do it in audio settings, is this a bug, have I configured something incorrectly, and is there a fix?
One other thing is my dpi settings, I have it set to a larger font and everything because at stock it is SOOO tiny. my question is, is there any way to smooth out text in other apps, my browser and apps like rdio look like crap unless I leave the dpi settings stock, which I basically need a magnifying glass to use (I tried that for a week lol. Not the magnifying glass tho haha)
I know I'm rambling at this point, but in the windows 8.1 camera app, sometimes my camera does this bug where it flips between inverted and normal, extremely quickly, so it looks like there are two of me. I don't know if this was GPU drivers tho, because just reinstalled those this morning and it seems to be ok so far.
also, the keyboard. I miss my context menu key, what do I need two command keys for? A right alt button, I'd rather have that be the other control button. Any way to remap these easily? what about switching Fn with control on the left, I prefer my windows button in the exact corner.
last question tho, I saw people overclocking gpu's on their retinas from last year, can you do this on the new retinas, and can you overclock the cpu as well as the gpu?
I do have to say this in the end, I am a little dissapointed with apple, I was told thst my mac would run windows like a native windows machine. I know windows 8.1 is not supported, but coming from PC's for years, and being a PC technician, I also go to school for computer engineering, I expected everything to "just work" as steve jobs once said. Well, it doesn't just work. I even had these issues in windows 8, which is supported.
Installing windows 8 was a nightmare. I had to use the forums, try for weeks to get windows 8 to finally instll the proper (uefi) way, and to get everything usable, I had to reinstall my os's twice.
Apple, if you are going to advertise a mac that can run windows "seamlessly", you need to get these major issues fixed, support all new versions of windows before they are even release, and release proper hardware drivers and support software before new hardware is released. All other Windows OEMS are pretty much required to do this to stay in business. I don't dislike OSX, I just use windows for everything I can't use Mac for, so please fix this. You're better than this, you should put a higher standard on this. otherwise, don't advertise macs that can run windows.
Thanks guys, sorry for the information overload. BTW, MBP Retina 15" 16GB RAM 512 SSD, 2.6 haswell, pretty much the max specs other than the SSD.

I have stated every issue I’ve had so far in a fairly clear and concise way. I think if you read what I wrote, it all makes logical sense as to what is going on. Windows 7/8 would work just as well on a Mac if it was supported the same way the OS is for other OEMs.
As I stated earlier in the post, I’m having these same issues in windows 8, not just 8.1, which is the reason for the post. I know the difference between supported by drivers and not supported by the manufacturer. The fact that when Haswell mbp’s came out and no revision to bootcamp for the new hardware was released to fix issues with installing windows on the new hardware shows Apple clearly Is not supporting bootcamp as strongly as they advertise.
I am being realistic on Apple having drivers early. Anyone with an MSDN subscription can download the RELEASE version of windows months ahead of the actual release, I’m 100% sure if any average consumer can do that by paying $100 and saying they are a developer, apple can do it just as easily.
You aren’t much help, you haven’t answered really anything to my post, nor have you contributed any knowledge that wasn’t clearly posted above, so don’t say anything if you don’t have anything to contribute.
By the way, my rant is directed at apple, as you can see because I am saying “Apple, if you are going to…” because this is an Apple forum on Apple’s website. It is not directed to end users, clearly.
