T440s and System Restore "Recovery Failed"

I bought recently T440s with 16GB cache drive and 500GB disk. I had been able to install new SSD (Samsung 840 EVO 500GB) but I cannot restore Lenovo system from Disks.
I had to copy disks to USB drive because T440s don't have optical drive. Laptop is booting from USB but once I'm accepting aggreement (EULA) I have information "Recovery Failed".

I disconnect M.2 16GB mSATA drive but still same error: Recovery failed. Do I have to use external DVD drive ?

Are you talking about Lenovo factory recovery media?
I've tried copying Lenovo recovery media to USB flash drive to do a recovery - using every trick I could think of - and always failed It may be possible, but I'm not the only one who has tried without success. I don't think the recovery software will run correctly when booted that way.
An external DVD drive may be your only hope.

Client Copy and System Restore query

I have few major doubt regarding client copy and system restor.
1. In my Quality system there are 2 clients: 100 and 200.In my PRD there is only 1 client 300(other than the standard default clients). My doubt is during remote client copy with SAP_ALL profile from PRD to QUA why the space increases only in MB.
I have been asked the same question by my management. They are saying PRD is 300GB and QUA is 220GB then why the space increases in MB though all data is copied in client 200(QUA) from client300(PRD)
2. If I delete client why the space is released in MB. Because according to them it should be in GBs.
3. Now my third query is I have to restore PRD backup in QUA.So I said that this requires same <SID> and Same sapce in the sapdatafiles(OS is HP-UX 11.31 and DB is Oracle 10g).So I have to explain them why these two things are contradary to each other. In case of client copy space required is only in MB and in case of System restore of PRD in QUA sapce require is in GBs.
Your suggestions will be highly obliged.

Response > Because during client copy your customizing and other objects are copied.
The database structures,tables etc are already present.

Response > Since client deletion is not same as deleting database /customizing tables .If you delete complete dataspaces/tables then there will be sizeable difference.Similar logic as Response 1

Client Security Solution And System Key Recovery

Hey,
I have an IBM ThinkPad T40 2373-82M Laptop. Everytime Windows starts up Client Security Solution displays a box which is prompting me to enter a password of some sort for authentication. It indicates at the top of the window that the reason for authentication is 'System Key Recovery'. If I click the 'OK' button it brings up another window indicating that authentication has failed and that the security key could not be recovered. I do not recall ever entering a password in the Client Security Soultion programme or anywhere else on my laptop. I am not the first owner of this laptop and I am wondering if the previous owner may still have his/her password in the system? Is there any methid for which I could reset/restore these key's?
Any help is appreciated.

I must say I have read various issues on the web regarding this particular software buddled with Lenovo T series and although I will be uninstalling it I do not believe there is any support on this whatsoever. Too bad cause I did want to use it ...

SFC and System Restore errors on Surface Pro 3 running Win 8.1

Yesterday evening, my boss sent me an email complaining about problems mapping network drives (Server 2008r2) and connecting to the office LAN after setting up offline files. He tried troubleshooting to no avail. I suggested SFC.exe and/or a systems
restore. However neither one worked.
System restore failed to extract file C:\Users\...\local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8v from the restore point.
Unspecified error (0x8007045b)
SFC.exe /scannow does report that it found errors, but could not fix them. I have a CBS.log file that I could post somewhere...
All this on a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1

Unspecified error (0x8007045b)
SFC 3x squeaky clean
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth reported success. Still same issue - unable to do any system restore from any restore point.
(trying to restore because suddenly Miracast went off to a parallel universe on my SP3..)
--I've run SFC and DISM multiple times. Neither find any errors. I'm stumped--
and Volume Shadow Copy Service is running...

do you have also for windows server language pack that you can install and change from language ?if yes from which version of windows it exists and which version of windows has such a function.
2- does windows servers versions has as the windows 7,8 system restore function ? if yes from wich version of it ?

Hi Hovhannes,
Windows server 2012 R2 does not have the same windows restore feature as a client OS. You would need to run daily backup of the OS then you would be able to use a version of the system recovery.

Windows Server does also have language packs that you can download depending on the version of the server OS you are looking for and language your require. These can be downloaded from the MSDN site.

ITunes 10.5 won't open after update and System Restore

I upgraded to iTunes 10.5 days ago on my laptop running Windows Vista 32bit.
Download and install went ok. Tried to open iTunes it just won't load.
I click on the iTunes icon from the start menu or the desktop and only the "circle" signifying "wait" pops up for a few seconds then it goes away.
iTunes.exe shows up in Windows Task Manager for a few seconds, then disappears.
There is no error message or pop-up during any of this.
Quciktime Player and Quicktime both work though.
I had to do a System Restore for my laptop recently because it would not boot up correctly. It kept saying "loading" but never actually load, so I took out the battery and had to system restore it.
Please help and thanks so very much in advance!

iFOUND the Solution!!!
Go to Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel and for every program that is Apple - iTunes - Quicktime related RIGHT click on it and choose "Repair" and repair it. May take some time for each program.
Then, I got an error message saying:
"the file "itunes library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes."
Here, from the Start Menu, search "Apple Software Update" and update every program it says needs updating. I recently this week updated Quicktime to its latest version, but did so anyway. So I updated Quicktime and iTunes...restarted computer...and it worked.
That's how you do it. iTunes 10.5 works fine now. Hope it does equally well for you.

Dynadock U3.0 - after use - "Blue Screen" and System Restore required

Everytime after I used my new Dynadock U3.0 and I shut down the computer, a system restore is required when I use the computer again.
I use a Samsung 900X4B. Could it be the Notebook or is something wrong with the Dynadock?
What could be the problem? (I use the latest drivers)

I tried to disconnect the Dynadock using the icon on the right side.
I installed the newest driver, including the displaylink softwarev 6.3.
I also dissabled the virus scanner.
However, evertime I restart the notebook the system needs to be repaired or restored.
I did not matter, if I left the USB-link attached or detached it after using the icon on the right side to shut down the dynadock.
I tried all possible modulations.
Another dockingstation (USB2.0) is working fine. I also can remove or attach during work without problems.
May be I miss something.

Unable to update apple TV and when restore activation failed

Apple tv informing me updates available but when i try to update, update keeps ending in unsuccessfull. Then I tried a restore and reset but activation fails. Please can anyone give advice.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.

What installers and files to archive for software and system restore

What do you keep and archive for softwares, system and preferences restoration on a new machine - in case your actual machine goes dead - which happens sometimes (just happened to a friend).. Do you keep all the .dmg files, installers ? I'm not talking about documents - of course, easy to archive.
Are there software for helping for that ?

HT4623 How to re download iOS 7 for my iphone 5c, I think my back and system restore has a virus, I want a new version to download, I know it has something to do with recovery mode.

I did a restore from back, a restore to new phone and a recovery mode restore, now I want to download the iOS 7.0.4 again, I called apple and they wont walk me through this to re download it, they did a few month back when I was working on my bother phone, his battery kept going dead and after the download it was all good, now my battery is dying much faster and I would like to have a new slate of the OS re downloaded, how do I do this, I know it has something to do the recovery mode.

All you have to do is restore the device to factory settings. Once the device is in recovery mode, and connected to itunes via USB Itunes will show a message" iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode, click ok to restore now" Then click ok and it will restore the phone to factory settings, with a fresh copy of iOS7.0.4. Just make sure your iTunes is up to date before trying to restore.

Slow boot after blue screen and system restore

I did the updates (Security 2008-002, Safari 3.1 and others) in Software Updates and then could not get past the blue screen. Tried all the advice on these boards but none worked. So I used Time Machine to restore the system. It worked except that now the booting process pauses (on a blue screen) for about 5 minutes. Then the process completes and everything appears to be fine.
However, this delayed booting does not seem right and never happened before.
Anything I can do?

How far does the xp installation get?
What do you mean by 'uninstalling the vista bootloader'?
It seems very unusual that you can't boot from the CD anymore. Maybe double check the boot priority again, or have CD as the only boot option?
I can make XP BSOD and Reboot on my V200 by setting the SATA mode to AHCI. *no floppy = no F6 driver installation
I can't recall how VISTA reacted to setting SATA to AHCI.
Let me know how it turns out.

Mac OSX License and System Restore

I have a Macbook 5.2 bought in 2009. The default OS is Leopard. When Snow Leopard was put on the market, a friend of mine bought a 4-licenses copy of Snow Leopard and gave me one of these 4 licenses.
Some month ago I decided to buy a copy (single) of snow Leopard for me, just to have it if necessary, without asking the license number to my friend. Yesterday I restored the Macbook system to the factory settings using the default OS (the Leopard cd found in the box) and after that I upgraded to Snow Leopard with my new copy. Suddenly, this unexpected massage appeared: “you are using this license on three different computers” (or something very similar).
I really don’t understand! It was the first time I restored the system. And, anyway, with another copy of Snow Leopard!
Now I want to sell my Macbook and buy the new Macbook Pro. I’d like to sell the Snow Leopard license to, but now I don’t know if it’s a good idea…
Can someone give me some suggestions?

Your friend should not have given you the Snow Leopard license unless he knew it was one he could really give. You should buy an individual license for Snow Leopard and sell the CD of Snow Leopard with the computer. It should look like * and not say Upgrade, Dropin, or OEM. Software upgrade to 4.3 succeded but synch and then restore both failed

I updated the software to 4.3 and this succeded but the synch failed and then the restore failed.
The only way I can get the phone to synch is by hitting the restore button on the summary screen which goes through the whole process quite successfully until it comes to the final stage of the synch when it fails and reports these two error messages one after the other:
1) itunes could not synch stews iphone 4 because the device timed out
2) itunes could not synch stews iphone 4 because a duplicate filename exists
Now none of my apps work. they just flash up on the screen briefly (split second) and crash back to the home screen. This only happens to the apps I have purchased. Any standard apps all work. the ipod has not synch'd - its empty.
Any ideas what file its talking about that is duplicate? and is this in the iphone? Any way to access it and delete it?

I solved this problem by:
1) Finding the backup directory and copying all of my backup files to a safe location.
2) Restoring my iphone as a new phone.
3) I expected to have to copy my backup files back to their correct place and do a restore but I didn't need to. The act of restoring to a new phone actually cleared the fault but left all my content on the phone!!
Back to full operation at 4.3!
