T440s - removable battery is not charged

Dear All,
I found today that my T440s is not charging removable battery.
When I click on battery icon on the Windows tray, the system shows 100% charged (in-built battery is fully charged), but no information about removable battery (2 days ago 2 batteries were mentioned)
Lenovo Battery shows two batteries, but removable battery status is:
Status: No activity
Remaining percentage: 0%
Remaining time: -
Remaining capacity: 0.00 Wh
Full charge capacity: 25.51 Wh
Current: 0.00A
Voltage: 7.38A
Did I change some power saving settings accidentaly and that's why Removable Battery is not charged?
Where should I find it?
Thank You in advance

Hi all,
at last week I bought ThinkPad T440s with battery high capacity FRU 45N1738 and I think battery is bad (or BIOS), because battery not charged to 100% and always show 35%, after disconnect power cable battery not discharged (see screenshorts first and second battery)
it might have been funny if it were not so sad

  • Battery will not charge. and other issues

Well i'm working on a friend of mines notebook, its a n100 model 0768 12u running windows xp. This is the situation so far. First his hard drive had fried so i replaced that and put the o.s. back on it,but now the battery will not charge. also the wireless network card and dvd drive did not work. I had originally thought that they might have fried as well when the hard drive went down. However I looked through the forums here and found that alot of people solved the battery issue simply by replacing the battery i recommended that. He purchased a replacement battery ( not a genuine lenovo battery, don't know if that makes a difference) and when i put it in the dvd drive and the network card started working no problem. But alas the battery still would not charge. the system runs fine without a battery in it, but if i put the battery in it while its running it turns itself off after about 30 seconds of having the battery in. when the system is powered off and i put the battery in the battery lcd in front blinks 5 times orange then nothing for about 30 seconds then 5 more times. maybe thats a trouble code, don't know, looked all oover the forums and couldn't find anything quite like it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
     thanks
    Steve

    Duck3,
Glad that worked for you!  Thanks for sharing here.
I saw a weird situation on friend's ThinkPad recently - a replacement battery arrived with a 37% charge (not 100% deliberately as somewhere around 40% is the best for shelf life), but it would not accept a charge.   We did a reset by removing the battery & AC and pressing and holding the power button a number of times  (some people say 10 times, some two or three times for a count of 5 or 10).   This drains residual capacitance.
We plugged back in the battery and AC and it began to charge.
Might be worth a try here before he opens it up ....

  • Battery Icon Shows "18% available (plugged in, charging)" But Battery Does Not Charge

The PC does operate on the battery only, just fine (so far, as there is only 18% remaining).
The PC operates with AC plugged in also.
LED by AC input is amber (looks orange to me).
According to the User Guide that indicates charging.
    Battery Check status is "OK"
I have had it on charge for over 12 hours and still at 18%.
When starting up, the battery icon shows charging movement then stops at a low level.
I measured the charger output at 20VDC (no load). Which is as specified.
I have tried all the suggestions about uninstalling and reinstalling  the ACPI Complient Control Method.......etc.
Removing battery, shutting down and all the rest of suggestions.
    No help.
I was told there was a BIOS update which I installed. (I'll post about that in another board). No help.
If I ever get this fixed it's going back to the vendor, Should not have this happen with less than 3 months since new.
Just got it back from repair for battery latch falling off. (Back plate was changed.)
    Anything new would be appreciated.

  • Macbook Pro battery is not charging but the battery meter is full

    Hi guys!
I have a 19 months macbook pro. I've tried using 2 different AC adapter but my mac's battery is still at 0% and the status says "Battery is not charging". I think my battery is dead but the LED battery indicator on my battery shows 5 lights, means its at full power.
I've tried to disconnect the AC cable and remove the battery, then press the power button for 10 sec but nothing change when i start my mac again...i also tried to reset my PRAM ( i think ) by holding a cmdopt+PR while rebooting but it didn't help to solve the problem too. I also have the battery update 1.2 installed on my mac and the results is still the same.
This is my battery info from system profiler. I hope someone can tell me what to do before I visit the Apple store.

    Hello,
I am having some strange battery behavior. I bought a FastMac TruePower Battery that is supposed to have extended capacity. Now when the battery dies, i plug in my MagSafe to charge it and it immediately says 'not charging', but then begins to charge. It either continues to charge and gets stuck at 80% or so and reads "calculating" in the menu bar, or just jumps between 'charging' and 'not charging'. The symptoms are very strange, and FastMac already sent this battery back saying it passes all of their tests. I do not want to send it back again because they charged me to send it back to myself even though it still does not work as advertised. I have my original Macbook Pro Apple battery which still charges fine, so i assume it is a problem with the battery based on a simple process of elimination.

  • Reinstalled Windows on HP Compaq nc2400 & battery will not charge.

I reinstalled Windows XP on a friends HP Compaq nc2400 now the battery will not charge. When I plug in the AC power cord the device manager thinks it is Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet card. I have reinstalled the battery and AC drivers to no avail.  Any idea of what might be the issue. I have also tried a spare battery and power cord to no avail.
    Thanks in advance.

    You're very welcome.
Do you know if the battery was charging beforehand?
Is it possible the contacts on the battery/notebook got bent somehow?
    You can try this...
Reset the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery which is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery. There is a chance that it is corrupted.
Step 1. Go to Device Manager
    Step 2. Select Batteries
Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
    Step 4. Click Uninstall
Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
    Step 6. Shutdown the computer
Step 7: Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in
When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
Step 8. Go to Device Manager
    Step 9. Select Batteries
Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

  • T23 battery will not charge

I have a T23 (2647-4MU) that the battery will not charge any longer.  I bought a new battery (that's what one of the FAQs said I probably needed to do.  It came charged to 74% but has slowly been going down.  I just run it on the power supply now but would sure be nice to be able to make small room changes without having to shut it down.  I'll appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks

    Welcome!
From the description of your problem, my vote would be to say that a part has come loose from the motherboard. I've personally seen two T23s that did this (out of about 40 that have gone through my hands). Of course the fact that I buy "parts and repair" systems off of eBay kind of skews this occurrence . If you are handy with a screwdriver and a soldering iron, then use the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the T23 and remove the keyboard and check the black part near the top center of map location G6 in this scan. If you find that the part is loose but can't do the soldering yourself, then try a local computer or TV repair shop. If you disassemble the system beforehand and ask them to re-solder the part back on, it shouldn't cost you more than $10-$15.
There can also be some other problems on the motherboard which causes the battery not to charge (blown fuse; but that generally means the laptop will not work at all with a battery) or another loose or fried part. The part I've highlighted usually is the culprit in these situations.

  • Battery does not charge when my Satelite Pro L500 is off

    Hi.
I have a Satelite Pro L500. Normally when it is plugged in the DC in and Battery led lights are lit up. Now both are off when it is plugged in and the computer is off. I have found that in this state the battery is not charged. The computer will not switch on while the power is plugged in. If I remove the power source and wait a few mins the computer will now switch on and opperate normally.
If I now plug in the power the leds are lit and the battery is charged

Hm. You mean the notebook does not boot up when AC adaptor is connected but it powers up if the AC adaptor is not connected?
Looks like an hardware issue maybe power supply electronic problem
Of course the AC adaptor should be checked too
L500 is not a very old notebook series and I think the warranty should still be valid
In such case everything should be covered by warranty so dont loose the time and get in contact with an ASP technician

  • Battery is not charging Power source: power adapter

I am very confused by my MagSafe power adaptor.
Often I get : "Battery is not charging Power source: power adapter" with an orange LED on the adapter, Last time this happened the battery was 65% charged
Right now I have NO led on "1:33 until full. Power Source: Power adapter"
Sometimes, I get a dim green LED
Each of these becomes normal on removing and reseating the adapter.
The spring loaded pins are perfectly sprung and are clean. The receiving bit of the laptop is clean. The adapter clicks in perfectly. The battery is new enough (and this happened when the battery was replaced anyway, and beforehand).
This happened since I got a new style adapter, the one where the cable is parallel to the Macbook, not the one where it sticks out at 90 degrees. I have two of these, and it happens with both.

I let the battery drop to 71% and connected the cable. Orange LED.
Now we are at 87%, just clicked up to 88% with No LED showing.
0:52 until full (was 0:58 when it said 87%)
    Power source: Power Adapter
I have done all the checks in the link you gave me, done them to the letter. Pins look good, receptor looks good. My lead is the L shaped one. The adapter is the 60W one
    89% now, 0:49 until full
Obviously it is 'working', but weirdly

  • Satellite A100- New or Old Battery is not charging

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite A100-543 (PSAARE).
The original battery was not charging so I purchased a new one. Now the new one is not charging either. I then ordered a new charger before coming to this forum so Ill test that when it arrives but I think the problem will not be solved.
With the new Battery the Icon says "10% Usable, connected, charging". The Icon, when the laptop is first switched on, shows the charge bar moving (charging) but after a few moments stops.
With the old Battery the Icon says " connected, charging". It shows empty.
In both cases the Battery Green LED is on.
If I pull out the charger from the laptop the computer stops immediately.
Trawling the forums I see one proposed solution is a BIOS upgrade. I have BIOS version 5.80
    See: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/05/23/toshiba-satellite-a105-battery-charging-problem/comment-page-19/#comment-151154
However I cannot find my model (as above) on Toshiba's list! It was purchased in France and is out of warranty.
Again I am dubious than this will solve the problem.
Others point to the motherboard. How can I know this? If it is does anybody have an idea of cost?
I do hope that someone can help.
    Henry

I'm not going to immediately help but I think I have the same problem on my A200 Equium model 1V0, running Vista.
Existing battery has gone down to 5% power and of course I get warnings so I run on mains but I can run the laptop on the battery for a few minutes.
The charging light comes on for about 9 seconds and then goes out. The charging status changes from "on mains power, charging 5%" to "on mains power, not charging".
It's odd that I can flip the battery out while the mains is attached and when I re-insert it, there's a charging light and charging status is ok for 9 seconds. If I do this often enough I can boost the battery to 10% but then the charging light only flickers on for a moment and there's no further actual charging. I think the main board charging circuit can't handle any more than a small feedback charge.
I bought a new battery - the laptop won't run on this without mains power (in fact the charging light now only appears for a moment and no charging at all takes place).
I uninstalled and re-installed the power ACPI from device manager - no change.
I turned off laptop, removed battery and mains power and held down the power button for 15 seconds - no change.
I checked my mains adapter using a circuit tester - OK.
Oh, and I updated the BIOS to the latest version 2.5 - no change.
It looks like the main board charging circuit has a fault which is uneconomical to repair.
Unless someone out there knows differently??

  • Macbook Pro Battery Is Not Charging but Condition: Normal

    Hi,
This question may have been answered but I couldn't find any information about problems with the same symptoms as my own. My 2010 MacbookPro battery is not charging but the green light on the adaptor is green when plugged in. Laptop will die if power adaptor is removed. Have attempted SMC restart but still receiving following information.
    Battery Information:

Condition is NORMAL but the Cycle Count has been reduced to 0 which it definitely is not after about 20 months of use but I cannot tell what the actual Cycle
Count is for obvious reasons. I'd rather not have to get a new battery but am aware this could be neccessary. Was just curious if anybody else had experienced
a similar problem and if they had it resolved as I cannot get to an Apple store for at least a month!
    Thanks for the help.
