T440s Synaptics three-finger flick backward functionality?

I'm hoping someone can help me with some functionality that is reversed from what it is supposed to be... On a web page, the "three-finger flick" gesture on the touchpad allows you to navigate back (flick left) or forward (flick right) (see http://www.synaptics.com/solutions/technology/touchpad for details). On my T440s, that function is oddly reversed. I flick right, and the page goes back, and flick left, and the page goes forward. I installed the latest driver from Lenovo (updated a week ago) and this behavior is persisting, and it's happening in both Chrome and IE. I suppose I can learn to navigate this way, even though it's counterintuitive. Nothing else on the trackpad is working incorrectly, though. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to correct it? Thanks... ...Jay

I purchased TP yoga and had the same problem. For last couple weeks, I tried find a way to swap the way three finger flicks work, and finally got myself successful, hacking into registry.I hope this would help you all. Open registry editor (WIN+R -> regedit)Go all the way down to  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESynapticsSynTPEnhPlugInConfigDefaults3FingerGesturesThere you would seeConfigID3KeyMacroBinConfigID7KeyMacroBinConfigID3KeyMacroV001ConfigID7KeyMacroV001MacroBin entries have bunches of hex code indicating macros, but you don't want to mess with them.
MacroV001 entries are actually pointers to key macros. Swap their values so that;ConfigID3KeyMacroV001 points to ConfigID7KeyMacroBinConfigID7KeyMacroV001 points to ConfigID3KeyMacroBinClose editor and sign-out and sign-in (or simply reboot)
See if this works!Note that if you update to a newer driver in the future, you might need to do registry hack again after updating.Good luck!

  • Three Finger Flick not working in Chrome?

I have a Lenovo Y460, which their touchpad supports the 'Three Finger Flick' function (Allows you to scroll through photos, back/forward on webpages (not that useful but still nice)), and I always just thought it didn't work on my computer or I just didnt know how to use it.
As a web browser, I like Google Chrome. But I clicked on IE by accident and felt like trying the flick again. So it works in IE but not in Chrome? Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks

    @dimfisch
I'm not quite sure what double tap is/what you mean, but you can configure little sections of your touchpad to have a different function. If you click on that little ^ arrow on your task bar, and find "Synaptics Pointing Device" (looks like a little touchpad with a green center), go properties, Device Settings, and then settings one once, you'll find that you can add a few extra functions and all in there. Hope this helps!

  • When resuming from standby in OSX, firefox has no gesture support for scrolling, tapping to click or three finger flick back and forth in Snow Leopard

This occurs in 10.6.8 Snow Leopard when resuming usage after the computer was in standby (closing the lid).
I never experienced this with firefox 6. The problem arose with 7 and continues with 8.

I'd like to chime in and add that there is currently no acceptable Font Management solution for OSX.
    Sorry, but it's true.
Me, and every professional designer / ad agency / design firm I know struggles with this every day. In fact, most of them have resorted to the 'ol "temporarily drag said fonts into ~users/library/fonts, and then out again when you're done".
    That's no way to work.
I've tried them all. And I know people who've tried them all. Font Book, Suitcase2, Font Explorer X, FontAgentPro, etc, etc. And they ALL have major problems. Especially when you have more than a few hundred fonts. Which most designers easily do.
We need a robust, stable, AUTO-ACTIVATING solution ala ATM in os9... I'm not a programmer, but I gotta ask: why is this so hard?
I've used Font Dr to check and re-check ALL my fonts. Most of which are bought-and-paid-for professional versions. I keep a bare minimum of fonts activated at startup. I've read all the "How Fonts Work in OSX" articles, and I know what the heck I'm doing! But my font life on Panther, Tiger, Leopard and now Snow Leopard has been a living ****.
YES the Helvetica disaster is a huge problem. But I think the issue is much, much larger.
I spend literally HOURS of billable time each week dealing with this nightmare. When it comes time to design something, and find "the perfect font" for a headline, or a logo –which is something that used to fill me with glee– I'm consumed by dread. Having to yet again wade through this depressing morass of stupidity.
Sorry for the rant. But this issue is literally EVERYWHERE on forums and message boards, but NOWHERE in MacWorld, ArsTechnica, CNET, etc, etc. AKA the kinds of pubs that could actually hold Apple's and the other companies feet to the fire on this issue.
    Something MUST be done.
    Darnit!

  • Looking for three-finger gestures

The touchpad settings have two-finger and four-finger settings. Are there drivers that have three-finger support? I really liked the three-finger flick for going back or forward using Chrome.
    Thanks

    @drj312 ,
From what you are showing here confirms that some software provides different options than others.
You may not find the three finger options available in all systems.  Options are built in to each device based on what they feel is needed.  Some systems have limited options some have many options.
With your envy you have more than one options for interface.  Use mouse, trackball,  Draw pad and the list goes on.
With different software you have the same options for example you can have a ton of input options for using adobe photoshop and if you look at comparable software for doing graphics they may have more or less options available.
Now I may have you misunderstood here but from what you are saying is when you use google chrome you are trying to get a 3 finger flick options and it works in other software such as Internet explorer and if this is the case then the issue is with the chrome software not giving that option of interface on your platform.
    Can you clarify for me.

  • Trackpad two- and three-finger functions not working

Everything was fine last night, but when I turned on the computer this morning, the trackpad is not working correctly. Cursor movement with one finger feels different than normal (a bit sluggish) and two- and three-finger functions such as scrolling, enlarging, and navigating forward and back do not work. I have tried letting the computer sleep first, rebooting, shutting down and turning back on, and the trackpad firmware update from last November (which it said I did not need to update) and nothing has worked. The trackpad menu in the System Preferences offered nothing as well. I have not updated to Snow Leopard.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi
I had the same problem specially after carrying out the last update 4.3 the battery was draining very fast y. In addition to that the phone freezing initially for few minutes then for almost a day and finally continuously.
I did almost every thing but replacing the handset and non worked.
As a final attempt to fix the problem before I replace the unit and get a new one was to
    1. connect the phone to the my computer (Mac)
    2. Launch iTunes
    3. Restore the phone to factory setting (with the 4.3) upgrade.
Of course I lost every thing my contacts all of my apps and phone settings. But it worked it has been two days now the phone didn't freeze and the battery life is even better than before.
    Note:
    1. All of my contacts, note, calendar, emails were backed up using my company exchanger
    2. Before restoring I listed all of the apps that were installed and I reinstalled them one by one all over again.
Try this solution and I hope it works with you.

  • Three finger swiping for forward and backwards

I just recently installed Lion (Yay) and I noticed that they have taken out something that I really used a lot in Snow Leopard; the three finger swiping, that could navigate back and forward through pages on the web and replaced the need of using the arrow keys to navigate up and down in apps such as Mail. I loved this feature because it simply made it easier and enjoyable to navigate. I know that it has been replaced with a two finger swipe, but to my knowlege, this is only used it Safari not Chrome or anyother application. Now my question is "Is there a way to get it back?" I'm just looking for something that will at least get the two finger swipe to navigate more than the Safari Application.
    Cheers,
    Callum

So i was in the same boat, and I literally just figured it out like 5 mins ago.
Go into system preferences>Trackpad, click on the tab for More Gestures
Its the very first option you come to on that page, Its 'Swipe between Pages', I was used to 3 fingers left or right.
Ahh back to normal...On to other problems with Lion. Good Luck and I hope this helped.

  • How do I enable the three finger swipe gesture to go forward / backwards using Windows 8 for an elantech touchpad?

The three finger swipe gesture works fine within Windows and in other browsers, but in Firefox (which is my primary browser) it doesn't seem to work.
    Laptop: Asus N56VZ
    OS: Windows 8

    Hello Dylmar,
There are a few Firefox add-ons that may work for you. Give these a try:

  • Three finger swipe with touchpad

I've recently installed Arch Linux on my 4,1 Macbook Pro alongside MacOSX.  Almost everything is working well except that I can't get applications (i.e. Firefox) to recognize three finger gestures.  My touchpad definitely supports this mode in MacOSX, and three finger middleclick is working properly in Linux.  I don't believe this is an application settings error -- at least in Firefox browser.gesture.swipe.up and browser.gesture.swipe.down have the proper settings.  Additionally, I don't believe this is a DE error (I use Gnome 3 fallback) because I deactivated org > gnome > settings-daemon > plugins > mouse in the dconf-editor.  Thanks for your help.

I had similar problems for Google Chrome.  I don't know if it was the same thing for other applications though because I immediately fixed in by doing the following:
In System Preferences, I switched everything that used three fingers to use four fingers.
I used Better Touch Tool to add in the three finger next and previous functions.
    Hope that helps

  • Apple Magic Trackpad freeze after three finger touch

  • Three Finger Middle Click Yoga 2 13

I've had this problem with every fresh install of Windows but with Windows 10 I can't seem to find a solution: The drivers that I can download from Lenovo's website do not support Three Finger Click. So in the past (with Windows 8.1) I just downloaded some old drivers from Synaptics (that aren't messed with by Lenovo) to get that functionality back. Why Lenovo thinks taking it away is a good idea is beyond me. Now, with Windows 10, I couldn't install any drivers that I had saved for this purpose, not even in compatibility mode. I also can't seem to find any new (or old) ones that work. If they even install, there's still no middle click available (one time the option was there but greyed out). Also, if you go to Synaptics website, you'll find that the section where you can download drivers for touchpads is broken, as it leads to a 404 error message.  Editing the Registry key "ThreeFingerClickAction" to a value of 4, which should be middle click, also doesn't work at all.  Does anybody have any idea how to get three finger click on a Lenovo Yoga 2 13 running Windows 10 Home 64bit? Regards,Lu_Vit

Does nobody else have this problem or does nobody miss Three Finger Click?

  • Three Finger Swipe to change Spaces

    Hi,
I was wondering if there's any way to set up my macbook air to change spaces using a three finger swipe in the finder. I know I can use a three finger swipe to go forward and backward in safari as well as do some other things and I want to be able to use a three finger swipe in the finder to move around my available spaces. Is there any way I can make this possible?
    Thanks,
    John

This is now possible using MultiClutch, with one caveat. First, check out this link:
    http://wcrawford.org/2008/02/28/everytime-i-think-about-you-i-touch-my-cell/
This works, but ONLY in cocoa applications, which Finder is not. Using MultiClutch will allow you to set up 3 finger swipes both left & right and up & down if you wish, along with allowing you to use rotate & zoom gestures as well in any COCOA application (Hint: for your specific Spaces request, set the gestures to be global binds, and NOT bound specifically to the Spaces application). I've personally set up rotate right & left gestures to move between tabs in Safari, which I absolutely love!
Anyway, because MC only works in cocoa applications, that means you will be able to use the gesture only if your currently selected program is a cocoa app.

  • Three finger navigation stopped working

The last two days the ability to go backwards and forwards through web pages with a three finger sideways swipe across the trackpad has disappeared. Unclicking and reclicking it in System Prefs doesn't bring it back, nor does restarting Safari. I tried trashing ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist but it still didn't work. Any other tricks to try out? This is on my MBP 13" with 10.6.1.
    Chris

Try doing a PRAM reset, the instructions are:
    *Resetting PRAM and NVRAM*
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

  • Magic Mouse - three finger double tap dictionary - not working

A three finger, double tap on my Magic Mouse will not activate a dictionary definition in any app. All other mouse gestures work fine. The keyboard combination for that feature works fine too. How can I get that three finger gesture to work?

No workaround so far with this problem and also no posts in the Opera forums. Just have to wait until Opera includes this functionality in their next release.
In the meantime you can help by joining the forum (takes a minute) and posting your concern. The more people that join and voice their complaint the faster something will get coded into their browser.

  • Three Finger Zoom

Anyone here who's having problem with the iPod touch 5th Gen, 3 Finger Zoom?
Before, it does work but a certain point, it stopped recognizing the 3 finger zoom. For me to be able to use the said function, i have to reset all the settings of the iPod then it will be ok but give or take atleast 1 week, it will stop responding to the 3 finger zoom again then I have to reset all settings and it will be a forever cycle.
I also tried testing the three finger recognition in the game OSMOS wherein you have to tap your 3 fingers at the same time to go to the Game Menu when you are at gameplay. And my hunch was right, it does not respond to my 3 fingers.
I also checked the triple click home button function. The Zoom was the only one checked among the items. I tried it but it didn't zoom. I also used the Assistive Touch and still no response.
Do you think it's a hardware or software issue? Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I have no sen that problem posted here before
