T440s - Trying to enable 30-day standby
New T440s doesn't seem to be entering 30-day standby mode.
I did upgrade the RAM and SSD after purchase. RAM is now 12GB and SSD was cloned directly from the factory drive. In Disk Manager, I do see a 12GB partition that I presume is the sleep partition? Computer is running Windows 8.1, all updates applied, as far as I can tell everything relevant is up to date. Power Manager is not installed (not installed from the factory). Rapid Start is enabled in the BIOS and set to 1 Minute for testing.
I did find that in the Windows power plan selected from the factory that Hybrid Sleep was not enabled (nor was Hibernate). I've enabled Hybrid Sleep.
Still, the computer never enters deep sleep mode. Nothing connected to the computer and no significant changes made to the configuration other than updating to Windows 8.1 and installing some software.
Battery drain during sleep is one of my biggest Windows gripes, so thanks for any help!

Ok, I seem to have gotten it working by manually setting the ID of the partition of the 16GB M.2 drive to D3BFE2DE-3DAF-11DF-BA40-E3A556D89593 in Diskpart. By also changing the registry value for S3 sleep to 5 minutes I was able to test that it goes to sleep on schedule.
So, that still leaves me with a couple of questions as I will likely be buying more of these laptops and want to understand this fully.
When I order these, there is the option to configure them with either 1 or 2 M.2 16GB drives. It wasn't clear to me at the time of ordering what these were for. My assumption now is that they are used for either a cache when paired with a traditional platter drive, or as the 30-day standby partition when paired with a SSD, or BOTH if you get two. Is this correct?
If so, because we ordered these laptops with platter drives and one 16GB M.2 they were probably configured as cache, and this is why the ID was set wrong for deep sleep and that sleep mode was not enabled in the Power Management software?
I presume there is no benefit to the cache drive when you are using a SSD as your primary drive, correct?

To enable Remote Desktop
Sign in to the Azure portal.
Click HDINSIGHT on
the left pane. You will see a list of deployed HDInsight clusters.
Click the HDInsight cluster that you want to connect to.
From the top of the page, click CONFIGURATION.
From the bottom of the page, click ENABLE
REMOTE.
In the Configure Remote Desktop wizard, enter a user name and
password for the remote desktop. Enter an expiration date in the EXPIRES ON box.
The expiration time of day is assumed by default to be midnight of the specified date. Then click the check icon.

My iPad won't open itunes. Wifi ok safari working. Software update trying to download for days 7.1.1. Is this the problem? How to fix?
If Safari is working otherwise and you can log onto other websites, try clearing Safari and reset your iPad. That might help with the Twitter app as well.
Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
My iPhone 4S had the iOS 6 update and I have been trying to download all day but it won't work and now when I go to software update of says iOS 5.1.1 is up to date. And I cant restore my iPhone becuase when I go onto iTunes it says that it can't find my iPhone. I have tryed to download the most resent iTunes because I went to apple website and just hit download iTunes so I guess it's the most resent version and I don't know what to do. Should I go to an apple store?

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage. There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.

The claim is, that stadby. time is 13 days. Can somebody specify this? My phone only holds power for about 2 days and a re-charge is necc.
I have Model STL100-3. Does network need to be turned off during stadby.?

Go to Solution.No, using your device for voice, sms, data, email, etc., you will not attain 13 days of standby time.
If you removed all data applications, email, BBM, etc., from the device and used ONLY the voice you could very likely attain 13 days of battery life. Maybe. Perhaps.
But that would be the only way to even get close to 13 days.

T430s not entering 30 Day Standby with Power Manager
I have a T430s with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit that is not entering 30 Day Standby like it should. The issue seems to lie with Power Manager.
Inside of Power Manager I have the 30 Day Standby option checked, just like I should, and it is also reflected in the BIOS setup as well. If I change the BIOS transition time for 30 Day Standby to "Immediately" and start Windows, but don't log in, and put the computer to sleep. It almost immediately wakes up and transitions into 30-day standby.
Now I know that Power Manager has a "hard coded" setting of 3 hours, regardless of the BIOS setting. So after 3 hours, Power Manager will automatically wake up the computer like it would to transfer to 30-day standby, but it just goes back to normal sleep.
Today while on battery, it did this twice (according to the Windows Event Log) Wake up, and go back to Sleep / Standby (S3). In the logs, the wake source is listed as "Unknown" when it goes back to sleep 10 or so seconds later is listed as "Application API".
Like I said, I was running on battery, and I also went into device manager and unchecked anything I could think of that would have an option of "Allow this device to wake the computer". I also disabled the Wake-on-LAN option for the LAN card. Plus I had all USB devices unplugged, as well as no Ethernet cable in the LAN port anyway. Plus it does transition to the 30-Day standby if I force the computer to sleep at the login screen before Power Manager is loaded.
If anyone could help me get this resolved I'd really appreciate it!!
EDIT: I just wanted to add I should have all driver / software updates as of Dec. 1 or so. I'm running Power Manager 6.63.1 and Power Management Driver 1.67.4.4.

Power Manager 6.63.1
I'm not sure what could cause this on your computer, but I would try the following things:
Load BIOS default settings (enter BIOS F1 Setup, press F9 to load defaults, F10 to save & exit)
Toggle the setting for 30 Day Standby in Power Manager. Turn if off, reboot the computer, turn it on, reboot the computer.
By the way, you can actually change the 3-hour timer by modifying registry. There just isn't any option for it in the Power Manager GUI.

There's a value called "S3TimerForIFFS". This is the number of minutes until 30 Day Standby Deep Sleep starts. The default value is 180. You can change it to any value 1 or greater. This timer is not exact but should be within a few minutes. -

Do you get sound on any apps e.g. Music and Videos but not others ? If you do then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Please try the following.
1. Open an internet browser type printer's IP address.
2. Should bring you to the printer's status page.
3. Select the networking tab at the top.
4. Left hand side select IPv4 under wireless.
5. Under DNS address Configuration select Manual DNS Server.
6. For Preferred enter 8.8.8.8
7. For Alternate enter 8.8.4.4
8. Select apply. You might get a warning saying this could interrupt connection that's fine.
9. Turn printer off for about 30 seconds then try again.
