T450s downgrade Win 8.1 Pro to Win 7 Pro Secure Boot Process?

Hi all, New owner of a T450S with 8.1 Pro. I have a Windows 7 Pro OEM disc (no serial number) that I can put on a USB thumb drive. Prior to owning a secure boot machine I would just format the hard and install Win 7. With secure boot and the downgrade I'm not sure how this works. 1. Is the serial number that I have backwards compatable? Can I just format, install and use the 8.1 Pro serial number on my Lenovo? 2. I believe I will have to disable secure boot but I'm not sure. Any help or link to a tutorial would be appreciated. ThanksChrissy

Ready to install fresh win 8.1 on new Yoga Pro 2

So, I just got my yoga pro 2 Friday. Can't stand the extra stuff and 7 particians.
I've got a usb stick with a copy of win 8.1 on it. I can boot to it and get the windows installer started ( I stopped at the partiican table)
I got the drivers folder from the D: on the yoga backed up.
Got my win 8.1 pro product key written down.
Don't think I will need any of the lenovo apps.
Nothing else I need, right? I did actually make a system image of the fresh install on another external drive when I got it, so if i did need to go back, I can.
The windows installer will take care of all partiicans, correct? I'm new to EUFI boot. I can see that legacy mode is disabled in the bios now.
Thanks for any help. Looking forward to a clean install. Wish I could have gotten this from a MIcrosoft store instead so I don't have to deal with it.

Upgrade win 7 Pro to win 8.1 Cannot access Homegroup

I have a Dell Desktop which was the computer that I created my homegroup on. I have a total of 6 computers on my home network. When I upgraded from Win 7 pro to Win 8 pro. It asks me to join homegroup. When I click on join, the computer spends several
minutes "verifying password". Then it asks me for the password and I enter the correct one that was used before the upgrade. The CPU spends several more minutes grinding away before telling me, "Windows no longer detects a homegroup on this
network. To create a new homegroup, click OK, and then open HomeGroup in Control Panel." I click OK. I go back to the HomeGroup in control panel and it tells me I have created a homegroup on this computer (actual names not included for security reasons)
and only gives me the option to join. If I click join I go through this same process again....
I ran the troubleshooter and no problems are detected. I asked for more help and that's how I eventually got here.

Hi ,
Based on your description ,there several possible reasons for this issue ,please try the following methods and let me know the results .
1.1 Type “services.msc” at the command input box hit enter.
       1.2 Go to the two services ,and make sure that they are on.
  2.  Date and time might be incorrect. Here’ how to check this :
           2.1  Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap
Search
           2.2   In the search box, enter date and time, and then tap or click Settings.
2.3   In the list of results, tap or click Date and Time.
    3. Already belong to an HomeGroup
In this case ,leave the HomeGroup and rejoin it and make sure that no duplicated computer name exist.

hello all of you, i wonder if there will be an install dvd for?X-fi Elite Pro on Win?7? and if so , where can i download it, is there an?other solution for the installation, instead of the Vista install dvd

I've since run a few more tests and have confirmed that my X-Fi is the hardware that is making my system lockup. I disabled it in the device manager and was able to play games all day with no problems, but with no sound of course. I also tried uninstalling all software related to the X-Fi and uninstalling the drivers, removing the card, restarting then reinstalling the hardware software and drivers. But the problem starts again while listening to music, playing games, or even watching video online or of my hard disk.

WIN XP PRO vs WIN 7 PRO FOR CS5

I'll be ordering a new "Sandy Bridge" i72600 computer on Monday.
Going from Win XP PRO 32 bit on my current PC, to a 64 bit OS on the new one.
I was "set" to go with Win 7 PRO, but somewhat dreading the hassle of transforming to a "new" OS.
I prefer the Windows Classic look anyway-- the shiny bells & whistle, "Mattel" look never appealed to me; and Microsoft seems to bloat each new OS with more & more of it.
I've just looked at several Benchmarks of XP, Vista, & 7: and XP beats the newer OS's in almost every category.
The company that's building my new system still offers XP PRO--- A rarity these days, and I'm seriously thinking of going with it, instead of 7.
I'm wondering if there's any valid reason not to???

I guess it's time to move on; so I decided to "bite the bullet" and go with "7"
I must say though that it's disappointing that a new OS is less efficient than it's predecessors; as Win XP beats or equals Win 7 in just about every Benchmark other than Startup/Shutdown times!

In my opinion, an OS should initially install as a "bare bones" system, with a single User Account, and a minimum of essential components.
The User should then be able to add the components He, or She chooses.
Microsoft's approach is to laden down, & bloat the system with what many would consider "useless cr@p; forcing the User who prefers a 'leaner, more efficient system to spend hours of research to find out what can be safely removed, or deleted!
I thought PC stood for "Personal" Computer. I guess Billy Gates felt that meant his personal tastes, rather than the "End User".

Win XP Pro to Win 7 for 64 OS

I want to upgrade from Win XP Pro to Win 7 to take advantage of it's 64 bit OS capability and to go beyond the 3GB ram limitation in XP Pro. Do the applications in the CS4 Design Premium utilize the additional ram if I have 12GB of ram in my computer and the power of 64 bit processing?

Thanks for the quick reply. So, if I understand your comments correctly, each of the CS4 apps will run with 2GB of ram and Photoshop is the only one that runs in 64 bit if I were to install Win 7. I won't be running multiple apps but plan to install 12 GB of ram to get some more robust performance out of some apps and try to avoid "out of memory" issues when working with large files.
For example, I scan drawings in TIFF format for archiving and then open them in Photoshop to convert to jpg for modification. These color scanned images are many times 36 x 48 plans @ 200 dpi and generally range from 1GB to 1.5GB in size. Oftentimes if they are in TIFF format I can't do a save as because of an out of memory alert.

My HP ProBook 440 G2, Finger print reader not working when I upgraded form Win 7 Pro to Win 8.1 Pro.
In device manager showing that biometric reader is working properly. But actually the finger printer reader is not reading or senseing. It seems like "dummy" part. Please help me to correctly configure step by step for this issue.

Move CC from Win 7 laptop to Surface Pro 3 Win 8.1

Hello all,
I subscribe to the full CC and I am going to be moving files from a Win 7 laptop to a Win 8.1 Surface Pro 3 in the next week or so and I was wondering...The laptop is my secondary or mobile production machine and it's also used in training adult photography students. I would prefer to NOT disable the Adobe applications on the laptop prior to completing install and testing on the new machine. I do understand the license is for two machines but my questions are these. If the laptop is not powered up and running, would I be able to activate the applications on the new machine to be sure that they function as expected? Or would I need to test them in the trial mode? If this is the case, is there any functionality that is not operational while in the trial? Are there any 'GOTCHAs' in doing this that I should know about from Adobe?

Adobe acrobat pro 9 WIN AOO IE invalid serial

Hi,
We have recently replaced all of our PC's in our office, and I have tried installing our copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 WIN AOO Licence IE onto our new machines, using the serial number provided on our Software License Certificate.
We no longer have the CD in the office, but I did download the version found here: Download Acrobat products | 9, 8
However I keep getting the 'invalid serial key' response.
I spoke to Adobe support and was told they do not support Acrobat 9 anymore, and that I should try the forums.
Any one have any ideas?

The download link that you have used is of retail version hence that is why you have the error, since it is volume licensing product, the download link , serial number are located in www.licensing.adobe.com .
The link Adobe Licensing Website | Serial numbers | Orders | Accounts has complete detail, still if you need help you may contact Adobe support whose link is at bottom of the mentioned document.

You need to use the serial number that comes with the purchase to activate the software. If you have an issue with reards to the serial number, you need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro is not compatible with Windows 7. I have seen cases where the installation goes fine. And with some workarounds you can get Adobe PDF printer installed as well. But Adobe still not recommend using Acrobat 8 on Windows 7. The reason why Acrobat 8 is not compatible is that the code of Acrobat 8 has not been tested on Windows 7 and it's not fully optimized for Windows 7.

hatte Acrobat 7 pro auf Win 8.1 installiert. Nach (automatischen) Win-Updates gibt es eine Fehlermeldung und ich kann Acrobat 7 pro nicht mehr starten. Nach Deinst. auch von anderen Adobe Produkten und cleanen der Registry lässt sich Acrobat 7 pro nicht installieren, da der Printer Port nicht installiert wird. Was kann ich tun?

Nachdem ich es manuell deinstalliert habe, startet Acrobat wieder und funktioniert. (Der Printer Port lässt sich aber weiterhin nicht installieren)
