T5-2 server remains standby

Hi Orfacle experts,
I am a newbie in this and I want to ask you an easy silly question: I have a new  SUN T5-2 server and everything was going fine with this server until I had to turn it off. Now the server does not starts and the OK led remains blinking, sometimes fast sometimes slow. By the way, all hard disks remains off too. I guess the server is in standby status but I can´t return it to full function. can someone give a hand with this?
I´ve checked user and service manual but I could not find the answer.
I will really appreciate your answers,
Ruben

It is likely powered off. Connect to the ILOM and try to power it on  with the following command "start /SYS"

It appears that your server is having power supply issues. Is the yellow warning light on?
Do you have a warranty for hardware service? If so, I would submit a request for service with SUN.
The green flashing light means that the server is in standby mode, with the ILOM available, but with the server in standby.

  • Move Publisher backup to new server( Cold Standby Server) ?

We have CUCM cluster consist of 1 publisher, 4 subscriber and have installed a new node like another cluster's publisher(with diferent ip address from existing publisher) . When existing publisher goes down we will move publisher backup to new server and change publisher ip address to new server on existing subscribers.
    is it posible ?
Our aim is using new server for publisher down issue.(like cold standby server but diferent ip address from existing publisher)
Or is there any better way to install publisher backup on on branch? When publisher goes down we will use the new server like publisher.

    Hi
Re: NTP... you can have multiple NTP servers assigned, and only the primary NTP server is used for license MAC generation. As such, I would:
    1) set the primary NTP server to be the real NTP address you want to use. This will not be accessible when you build the server with the old servers' IP.
    2) set the secondary NTP server to an accessible NTP server. I do this by setting up NTP on the server you serve the SFTP backup file from. I use Meinberg NTP if this is a Windows box, it's free.
That way you can build the server (primary NTP not accessible, but secondary is so it's fine). Then after the restore, change IP address and it will start using the primary NTP server.
I presume deployment type refers to product and role .e.g. a CUCM Publisher, not a CUC server or CUCMBE publisher.

  • Lync 2010: Deleted Trusted Server remains in Config: Failed to connect to a peer server

    Hi
We added a Trusted Application to our Lync 2010 topology and removed it a few days later as it became clear it will not work for us..
Since then conference group chats do not work any longer.
If I trace the issue I get
reason="Failed to connect to a peer server";WinsockFailureCode="10060(WSAETIMEDOUT)";WinsockFailureDescription="The peer did not respond to the connection attempt";Peer="deletedFQDN";Port="5061"
The host (peer) still exists but the application once running on port 5061 does not.
If I look in AD-Configuration I cannot find the Peer or anything related to it. It is already deleted in the topology (as far as I can see).
Where else can I look for (and delete) orphaned Peer entries?

Run Export-CsConfiguration -FileName c:\TP.zip, open the xml file in folder TP.zip, check if the IP address for trusted application exists.
If it exists, run the command Get-CsStaticRoutingConfiguration to check if something is related with the trusted application.
If yes, to remove it, you can run the command Set-CsStaticRoutingConfiguration -Route $null.

  • TestStand Server remains busy after 2 steps have been edited

    Hi,
anyone aware of a problem I am faced with (Newbie in TS): The sequence editor does report 'Server busy' forever, when I edited a sequence step and try to edit another one. Any solutions/workarounds other than killing TS and restart it? NI (Germany?) did not react within two days.

    Hi Bob,
after having driven crazy with this I issued a service call to NI Germany. They offered me a hint to de- and re-install TS completely. This took me a long time, but now the system is up running. What about putting the hint you gave into the KB. It would have saved me a lot of trouble, because there's where search first. Allthough NI support is very good compared with others, a quick search in the KB is much much faster.

  • Can standby database configured on VMWare server or not?

    HI all,
Is it possible that our primary server is not on vmware server but standby server can be configured on VMWare server?
AFAIK, configuration of both the server should be same.
If our Primary server is not on Vmware server but standby database configured on Vmware server, Will it work or not.
    Pls suggest me.....
And another thing is that Is it necessary to have a dedicated connection b/w primary and standby server for RFS process.
    pls suggest me....

If our Primary server is not on Vmware server but standby database configured on Vmware server, Will it work or not.Logically speaking, it should not matter but YMMV.
And another thing is that Is it necessary to have a dedicated connection b/w primary and standby server for RFS process.what is RFS process? Could you elaborate?

  • Admin TACACS+ access fails ASA in Active/Standby Configuration

We have two ASA 5510 with version 8.2(1) in Active/Standby configuration, the failover works fine, but when the primary ASA comes back it remains standby , so we manually change it to active with the failover active command, then we try to access the device using a TACACS+ account , it doesnt work , just the local account works; after a period of time (15min) , the TACACS+ access start to work.

I'm not sure about your configuration but when in timed mode, a server that is declared "failed" will once again
be made available after 30 seconds. Unlike reactivation mode, it is not
necessary for all of the servers to fail before any can be reactivated.
On possible source of confusion to be aware of in timed mode:
The "show aaa-server" command will continue to show the server as FAILED
until the server is needed to authenticate a connection.
    depletion
Reactivates failed servers only after all of the servers in the group are inactive.
    timed
Reactivates failed servers after 30 seconds of down time.
    Please tweak reactivation mode.

  • Delete Email from Server... or Not...

I have yet to see a single person raise the same challenge I am having with email. So, I suspect there must be a feature I am not configuring properly... or something.
I have configured a POP email account. I want to be able to delete from the server AND just from the handheld without going back into the configuration menu. Is there a way to do this? Just looking for the flexibility to keep some emails on the server AND eliminate spam from the server so that, when I get to my email client on my laptop, on the email I chose not to delete from the server remains. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.

    ampullae,
There is a setting on the iPhone for POP accounts that will remove messages from the server. If you check in Settings > Mail, tap on your POP account, and go to Advanced, you will see an option to "Delete from Server." You can use the option "When removed from Inbox" so that when you move spam messages to the trash, they should be removed from the POP server. You can also set the frequency to remove deleted messages off the iPhone so that the messages you have in the trash will be deleted.
I would highly recommend testing this process with some test messages until you find the settings that work best for you, so that you do not end up deleting important messages by mistake.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • How do I stop ActiveSync from deleting emails on server

    Hi,
We came across a problem where users are deleting emails from their activesync devices accidentally. We need to stop it besides providing them activesync facility.
Is there any way we can restrict sync of email deletion from activesync devices so the sync from Device to Server remains disabled. What we want is
    Server --> Device Sync Enable
    Device --> Server SYnc Disable
    Hasan

    Hi
You will have to look at a POP3 account that leaves the mail on the server.
I have not seen a setting in active sync that stop mail from being deleted. If you make a change on your phone it will update the mailbox.
Mails will be in the deleted items. How are users "accidently" deleting mail when you actually have to press the delete/trash button?

  • How to delete account from thunderbird without deleting from server

I am lending a PC with Ubuntu and Thursderbird to a friend for a trial period. I want to delete two email accounts in Thunderbird without deleting same from the email server. The information in help seems to indicate that if I delete my accounts, those accounts will also be deleted from the server. This is not desireable - is there a way around this this? Thanks!

    '''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows,_Linux,_and_Mac Tools|Account Settings]|{select the account}'''
At the bottom of the pane listing your accounts, look for '''Account Actions''', and when you click that, look for and click on '''Remove Account'''.
Doing this removes the account from Thunderbird. It actually retains the data files associated with the account but removes the account entry and its settings. What's on the server remains untouched - well, at least that is my understanding. Can you provide a link to the help that suggested otherwise?
In theory, unless you encrypt your home folder, a savvy user could find the mail store in your profile and read it. You might want to go a step further and remove the entire profile.

  • Is there a way of mounting a server without it opening a window??

I am administering 40 emacs attached to an XSERVE G5. When the emac users go to open a large volume off the XSERVE with about 200 folders on it, a finder window automatically opens but then it can take up to 10 minutes before the window contents are shown. During this time the user is faced with 'beachball' and work halts.
Force-quitting the finder stops this and server remains connected, but I am looking for a better way of doing this.
Is there anyway in which this automatic opening can be supressed?
I have also posted this on the Panther forum
    Lewis

Two solutions: one pretty but might be annoying and one useful but not many users want to dirty their hands with CLI.
Solution 1: Move all folders for the share into One folder. So on initial mount of the Share, there is only one folder to 'display'.
Solution 2: There are command lines to mount shares, such as
    `mount volume "afp://SERVERANME/sharename"`
This would mount that share and NOT pop-up a finder window. The CLI ickyness could be overcome with applescript, such as
    `osascript -e "try" -e "mount volume \"afp://SERVERANME/sharename\"" -e "end try"`
and these can be added to startup scripts or made into applets so the flexibility is there.

  • How to Create Manual Standby for a Oracle 11g RAC with ASM to Single Instan

    Hi All,
I have a task to configure a Single Instance Standby Database with ASM for 2-node Primary RAC+ASM database.
Version using : 11.1.0.6 Oracle 11g --- *" STANDARD EDITION "* Please note datagaurd will not be supported in standard edition.
Primary database - 2 -Node RAC using ASM storage (All datafiles, redologs, controfile and archive logs)
Need to setup a single instance standby database manually and than using scripts to transfer the archive logs from primary server to standby server to do recovery time to time.
Please let me know if there are any configuration document(s) which can help me to set the manual standby? or need your kind help to give your valuable ideas how to go in above situation.
    Thanks in advance

Well if the archive logs are stored in ASM on the primary nodes, you almost definitely want to be using RMAN to access them. Then to transfer between primary and standby there are many options, this is essentially the step that Data Guard takes care of - so if you (and I) are running Standard Edition, this is the part to "worry" about.
I'm not really sure what you mean by this:
As in standard edition the archive destination will be on ASMI don't think the Edition of Oracle (Standard or Enterprise) dictates where and how you store your archive logs, but it's possible I've misunderstood what you mean...SE dictates that database storage for RAC will be ASM, including archive log files. Anything else is not officially supported. I haven't tested but it may be that you can use LOG_ARCHIVE_DUPLEX_DEST to specify a local filesystem for archive log files as well.
If that doesn't work you'll have to script rman "backup as copy" jobs regularly and then transport the results of that.

By the way, it seems Robert has been pretty helpful, it's polite to give him some points dude. And since this is your thread, not mine, give him a "helpful" from me too :p
    El DBA
Incidentally if you are forced down the RMAN backup as copy route then this will likely throw your current backup retention strategy somewhat, you'll need to think carefully about when an archivelog can be deleted following backup, how many times it might be backed up and so on. I do understand, and have argued for, the use of SE RAC. I also understand and have argued for and implemented manually managed standby a number of times. However by the time your primary database is a RAC instance and you need a standby for DR etc then you really have to look very seriously at whether Standard Edition is still the right investment or not. You will be spending a lot of DBA time managing and troubleshooting this, and you will find that it is less reliable than the off the shelf solution. I suspect that you are very close to the point where an EE installation becomes a worthwhile investment here.
