T500 and ddr2 RAM??

My T500 comes with DDR3 RAM, of which I have 4 GB in the T500 with a 64-bit Vista.
DDR3 is super-expen$ive in 4GB sticks compared to 2GB sticks.
Is it possible if one ever needed to do so to use DDR2 RAM in a T500 which normally uses DDR3 RAM??
I don't think so...but I am inquiring anyway.
Thank you, Tom

You can't use DDR2 in a DDR3 ram slot, so the answer is no.

    Hi harrrrrsh,
Here is a helpful guide on upgrading to Win 8.1. Your system hardware seems to meet the minimum requirements.
Expand "Can my PC run Windows 8.1?" and navigate to the Win 8 Upgrade Assistant. Select run or save the Win 8 Upgrade Assistant to your desktop. Then run the upgrade assistant from the desktop for a detailed analysis of your PC and the steps needed to complete the upgrade.
Upgrading from XP to Win 8.1 is a big move and you may have device driver problems. You may also have some issues migrating third party legacy software to the Win 8.1 installation.
I have upgraded Win XP PC's to Win 7 with very few issues but have not moved an XP PC to Win 8.1.

    I have a 2008 mac book....with 1GB 667hz DDR2 RAM 1GB each....I want to upgrade it with DDR3 Rams 2GB each, it is possible?

No, the two RAM types are different, and the architecture has to specifically be able to interface with it. You can upgrade to 2x2GB of DDR2 memory, for a total of 4GB.

  • PB17 1.33GHz and DDR2?

    HI,
Does anyone know if the PB 17" 1.33ghz will work with the DDR2 RAM?
Something like this: 1GB PC2-4200 533MHZ DDR2-SODIMM by Kingston, ValueRam
    http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail~dpno~182033.asp
Or I can only use PC2100/PC2700 DDR with my PB?
Also, any idea when will the Hitachi 7K100 out? I had been wait for long time.
    thanks
    Vic

DDR-2? Absolutely positively not. DDR-2 is completely different physically and electrically. You cannot upgrade.
Also, do not use PC2100. It is not fast enough.
Your 17" 1.33 is one of the most finicky Powerbooks for RAM, I recommend that you go to a vendor who tests and guarantees compatibility with your specific model Mac.
    Thanks

  • Early 2008 iMac and Kingmax ram?

Dear everyone from apple discussions, Hi!
When I install new ram in both slots, imac is not booting,
when I install old ram in one slot, and new in second, it boots, apparently recognising 3gb of ram.
Can anyone tell me where am I mistaking!
*quote from a user manual of ram compatible with my iMac:*
"Your iMac comes with at least 1 gigabyte (GB) of Double Data Rate 2 (DDR2) Synchronous Dynamic Random Access (SDRAM) memory installed. You can add 1 GB or 2 GB memory modules for a maximum of 4 GB of memory. Memory modules must meet the following specifications:
    - Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (SO-DIMM) format
    - 800 MHz, PC2-6400, DDR2 compliant (also referred to as DDR2 800)
    - Unbuffered and unregistered"
    *RAM I bought:*
    2x Kingmax 2GB, SO DIMM DDRII 800 non-ECC
    http://www.kingmax.com/en03_productcontent.asp?sn=22
    Regards, martin

Even if Kingmax has system specific bandwidth PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM modules for exchange, there is still no guarantee they will work until you test them in your iMac.
To avoid testing ram yourself and going thru all the hassle of returning ram, I suggest ordering from one of the following suppliers.

Finally came the expected driver, I think it's premature but it works perfectly.
    Here the driver (r8192se_pci):

    64bits: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34090326/ … bit.tar.gz
untar; make; make install; reboot and enjoy it
    I test it with:
    netcfg
    standar commands:
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    iwlist wlan0 scan
    iwconfig wlan0 essid MySsid
    wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    dhcpcd wlan0
The first time I compile the module, function correctly, but after scan for available networks I haven't any results.
    Recompile and everything worked again
[b]I edit the wiki, pleased read it and help me because my English is a bit basic.
    thanks

my macbook pro running lion will not boot . it stays on the grey page with the cog spinning. I have tried all methods of booting to no avail. I have removed the bottom and taken out the battery and the ram . will this affect my applecare warranty. I had to try myself as I'm overseas for two months and nowhere near any sort of help .

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up.  Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests.  But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum.  there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.

Hi I have just bought a new Mac Book Pro 15" Retina display with 256 SSD and 8G RAM. I had my info transferred form my Previous Mac Book Pro late 2011 to this machine. When trying to download Mavericks it says it cannot be loaded onto this machine? Strange as I have just downloaded Pages, Numbers and Keynote...free? Thanks and Regards
    Brian

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got OS X Mavericks installed (the Keynote, Pages and Numbers versions available in the Mac App Store are only compatible with OS X Mavericks).
You have got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro, which uses a special OS X Mavericks version that is not available in the Mac App Store. This is the reason why the Mac App Store is not compatible with OS X Mavericks even if you are using it. This will be fixed in OS X 10.9.1, when your Mac uses the same Mavericks version as all other Macs.
Until then, you can reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

  • Microsoft Office 2004 -- extremely high cpu usage and virtual ram

    hi,
when i use office it causes a very high cpu usage even when its in idle mode.
i am unable to work with it, because its extremely slow.
    does anyone have same experiences?
    thanks for your help!
    mbp 2.0 1,5gb ram 80gb hdd   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I am able to work OK with office, I'm using the 'old version' Microsoft Office v.X, not much details in the About Box, just listed as MSoft Word/Excel/etc for Mac service release 1.
I get the occasional crash, and I have seen Word in particular use 90% of a single core and amazingly large virtual memory usage, gigabytes sometimes, but eventually the document gets printed.
It shows how useful the dual core (or quad) cpu approach is!
One cpu for Word to print, and one cpu to run the rest of my applications/life!
I still use this old office rather than re-booting into Window§ for whatever is the latest version of office.
Doing some playing with a similar one page document in Office v.X and Pages 2.01, I get Word using about 25% of a core , Pages using 5%, - whilst editing; Intel native Pages has 20% of a core and 80MB ram 480 virtual whilst printing, Word has about 100% of a core and 65MB ram 650 virtual whilst printing, but it is a powerPC code so Rosetta is in there somewhere.
check Activity Monitor or other apps/widgets for some parasitic processes? have fun!
many Macs 512k -> MacBool Pro 2GHz 1GB ram   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Yes, I have Key Lime
