T500 ATI Catalyst Control Center cannot be started

I have some troubles in opening the ATI Catalyst Control Center. There was a window poped out saying that ATI Catalyst Control Center cannot be started because the currently active GPU is not supported. I have already reinstall this drive and the graphic drive. But the problem is not solved. I am wondering what could I do now?

Right click on the battery in the task bar and make sure your Switchable graphics are set to Performance, if it is in energy savings the ATI control panel will not function, you need to use the Intel graphics setup instead.

Funny enough i had the exact same problem on an A50 desktop.  When you run the Catalyst "installer" it doesn't actually install, it just extracts the programs into a folder.  you then have to navigate to the files and run the setup

, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  If you are downloading this from the AMD site it may not work.  The video chipset is built by AMD Radeon however it is propriatary.  Unless you download the software for the system from the notebooks support site it may not work.  As well you have to check to see if that notebook was released or was given windows 7 as an os. Here is the link to the support page. HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC - Software and Drivers If your system came with it pre- loaded then you can do a system recovery to get it back.  You will have to back up all your data before this. HP PCs - Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7) Please let me know how things go.  Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • Catalyst Control Center crashing on start-up

Every time I start up my laptop Catalyst Control Centre and its subsidiary apps keeps crashing and it shows in taskbar "Error Reporting Icon"
    eg = MOM.exe
eg = Catalyst Control Centre Launcher.exe
Even if I try to reload the application manually then my laptop hangs and freezes for a while before returning to normal functioning.

You never mentioned what type of graphics adapter you have, but here are a few things you can try. Uninstall the software package, re-boot your computer and double check that the software package actually un-installed. Sometimes when you do the software
installation a few times, you will get a ghost copy on your system. As ATI/AMD is dependent on MS .Net Framework, go into your Control Panel, Programs and Features, then on the left side, go into Turn Windows Features On or Off. In there you want to make
sure .Net Framework 3.5 is enabled. You can try to re-install your ATI/AMD software package again at this point.

  • How to get ATI catalyst control center.

I'm using mac book pro with bootcamp as well. So i'm using every support software downloaded from windows by Bootcamp. However, i'm missing that ATI CCC which is crucial as i have an extended 2nd display monitor hooked up to my macbook pro. There is a slight gap between the borders and the displays when the highest possible resolution is configured for the 2nd display. I Know i can install ATI CCC on my windows as i've done it before but i've unfortunately formatted my windows without any backups. The recent display drivers from the AMD site doesnt work at all which is also why i use the support softwares from BOOTCAMP. Where can i get the ATI CCC package alone to maximize the resoultion of my 2nd display? or is there another solution to this.
The highest possible resultion for my 2nd display now is 1920x1080 which leaves a gap betweent he borders.
The resolution that fits well into my 2nd display is 1680x1050 which makes everything seems so blurry.
    Many thanks.

  • ATI Catalyst Control Center wont save settings betweem reboots

I figured out I could "dim" my iMacs X1600 video by reducing the "color levels" from 1.0 to 0.5, and now my screen is not too bright anymore.  When I choose "Apply", then accept that it is still working, it apparently does not write these new settings to a file anaywhere.  If I restart X, or reboot te machine, the settings are back to 1.0, and too bright.  I did this as both my non-root and root accounts, and it didnt save it either time.  Any suggestions?

Yes, it is true that they are stored in /etc/ati/amdpcsdb.
Phoronix wrote:[...] AMDCCCLE doesn't store any changed settings from AMDCCCLE in the xorg.conf or an INI file in the home directory, but in an intermittent location. AMD's driver and the aticonfig and amdcccle utilities use the AMDPCSDB. The AMDPCSDB is the AMD Persistent Configuration Store Database and is a live database that is comparable to the registry within Microsoft Windows. The file where the AMDPCSDB data is written to is /etc/ati/amdpcsdb and is done when the X server shuts down. AMD engineers prefer keeping the display-related settings in the AMDPCSDB so that any xorg.conf changes are minimal. [...]

  • Safe to disable ATI Catalyst Control Center?

  • T400, cannot start Catalyst Control Center - error "active GPU not supported"

on a t400 machine running vista business 64 bit.
last week all was hunky dory.  this week, when i try to open my ati catalyst control center (CCC), i receive the following error:
"ATI catalyst control center cannot be started because the currently active gpu is not supported"
i've read some posts about this problem stemming from not using the ATI graphics card and rather being on the integrated graphics card.  the posts indicated i could reenable CCC simply by clicking on the battery icon in the system tray and selecting "high performance mode" to force the machine to use the discrete graphics card.  after i do this, and then try to start CCC, i receive the same error as above.  also, at this point after the switch to high peformance mode, my device manager lists "mobile intel(r) 4 series express chipset family" as my display adapter still.  if i left or right click on the battery icon in the tray, i do not see any options for switching cards explicitly.
the video driver for the mobile intel 4 adapter is listed as being from ATI at version 8.520.4.4000.
i am not sure of my driver version for the ATI card.  nor do i know where to look for it.
to my knowledge, nothing aside from a number of "critical" windows updates have changed on my system between the time CCC was working last week and now.
any suggestions as to how to fix this?  and what caused it to stop working?
thanks in advance for any help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

i finally figured it out.  and no new drivers or reinstalls were necessary.  in the end, all i needed to do was turn on the lenovo version of the power manager (which appears in my taskbar as a horizontal green battery with the number of minutes of use remaining).  from there i can left click and get to the menu that has the switchable graphics option where i can chose energy saving or high performance.  if from there i select high performance, i can then open CCC.
the important thing to note from this is in order to get to this menu you have to be using LENOVO's thinkVantage power management program (which sticks the green battery icon on your task bar), NOT windows built in power manager, which appears as a vertical grey/blue/? battery in the system tray (at least on mine).  once you have that on, you can explicitly switch the graphics cards.
the odd thing is, i'd been accessing CCC without explicitly switching cards with no problem up to last week.  so somehow the default setting must of gone from high performance to energy saving, thus putting me on the integrated graphics card unless i switched it manually.  weird.
slip, thanks for you help.  i appreciate it.  and that is an interesting note about freeing up more memory by disabling the switchable graphics.  i will probably give this a shot and see how i like.  more available memory never hurts!
thanks again to everybody that helped out.

  • Windows 8.1-AMD Catalyst Control Center

    Hello!
First of all I would like to start of by saying thank you Hp for an amazing product, I bought my Hp Envy m6 laptop in May and I have loved it ever since. I bought it as a gaming machine, and it did not disappoint me...until I decided to update to Windows 8.1.
I downloaded it from the app store last week to see what new features they added (was rather disappointed with how long it took especially for the lack of great features they added, however that is not your fault), after a day when I bought a new game from Steam (Arma Two) and I went to the Catalyst control center to set the performace to high I realized it had stopped working the message I got was:
"Catalyst Control Center cannot be started.
There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center"
This means a lot go my games are running rather bad at the moment as they are using a mixture of my intergrated Intel 4000 "graphics card" and my AMD Radaen HD 2GB Graphics card. Instead of just my AMD graphics card (the good one).
I tried looking for solutions to this problem e.g. A new download for Catalyst Control Center or an easy way to downgrade to windows 8 from windows 8.1 however I have been unsuccessful. The only method that seems possibly is to downgrade however that would involve uninstalling all my programs (Over 50 games from steam) and all my other programs.
So the reason for this message is that I am looking for a solution to this problem, either an easy way to downgrade to windows 8 OR a way to get my Catalyst Control Center to work again  so I can change what graphics card is used when.
    Thank you
    -Conor
P.s. I love Hp's products and I have told all my friends to get them. This is window 8's fault not yours.

    Possible solution:
    Hi Guys,
I just contacted HP support regarding this problem. They asked me to install the following file:
    ccc2_install.exe
It was already present in my system in the following path:
    "C:\Program Files\AMD\CCC2\Install"
This solved my problem. CCC is working fine now
Also, while installing, your desktop might go black and only active windows will seem to work. But, thats fine, just restart your system.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers...
    Thanks and regards,
    Saptarishi

  • Catalyst Control Center: Persistent Issues

    Hello,
I am running an HP Pavilion dv7 with AMD graphics (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650). After installing Windows 8.1 I have been experiencing problems. Whenever I try to run the Catalyst Control Center application, I get an error message:
"Catalyst Pro Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Pro Control Center."
This issue seems well documented online, and I have spent the past few days going over every reported work around I could find, including uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and software directly from the manufacturer's website, without alleviating
the issue in the slightest. My best guess is that I have to hack a .inf file somewhere, but I have no idea how I am supposed to do this.
    Please help.

    Hi,
As far as I know, this is ATI graphic card driver compatibility problem, because your Graphic card is too old, its driver for Widnows 8.1 had some compatibility problem. You can try to install the latest beta edition for test.
In addition you can contact ATI to identify this problem.

  • How to adjust HDMI overscan without catalyst control center? 2011

I have an unsolvable problem due to the lack of standard between Apple and AMD.
The problem is that i have a black frame arround my TV screen when i connect my MacBook Pro 2011 (15" 2.2Ghz) to my TV.
    This is called overscan.
Now here is why i can't solve this (and why it is so frustrating):
-AMD cards send underscanned signal through an HDMI output by default.
-Having no native control for overscanning on Windows 7, the only way to adjust this is through AMD/ATI Catalyst Control Center software.
-The AMD Catalyst Control Center software is incompatible with the MacBook Pro 2011 and won't install.
Now is there a workarround for this?
If not, who is responsible (who should i turn to)?
Is it Apple for using a non-standard driver for the AMD graphic card?
Or is it AMD for not providing me with a compatible version of Catalyst Control Center?
PS: Of course Microsoft is responsible for not providing native overscan control in Windows 7

    Hi C,
See if the TV has overscan settings or zoom.
    http://hd.engadget.com/2010/05/27/hd-101-overscan-and-why-all-tvs-do-it/
In a perfect world broadcasters would mind their signal and ensure every pixel was worth watching, then TV manufacturers wouldn't feel the need for overscan -- or at least we hope. In the meantime we're just happy that most TVs have a way to turn it off. When an image is displayed properly, it's sometimes referred as 1:1 pixel mapping. This simply means that every pixel in the signal is displayed by a single pixel on the display. Of course each manufacture has its own name for this mode; like Samsung who sometimes calls it Screen Fit, and Pioneer called it Dot by Dot. No matter what it's called, it's rarely on by default -- even when watching 1080p24 from Blu-ray which never has garbage on the edges! -- so you'll have to find the button on the remote called something like format or P.size, depending on the brand. Your best bet is to read the manual -- shocker.
