T500 BIOS flash failed

Hi
I was flashing BIOS on my T500 (from Windows 7 x64) and it failed.
Now the machine does not boot at all... When it's powered up, it starts beeping (one long, two short beeps).
But If there is a flash drive inserved, it wont beep at all.
Is there a way to restore the BIOS? - I read about BIOS crisis recovery, but can not find a way to activate this mode.  The warranty expired a month ago, so I cant just go to the service center...
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Why on earth would we care?  The mods don't work for Lenovo.
The only reason we would remove an answer to a problem from public view would be if it violated the forum rules like how to hack a password or something.

  • GTX 670 PE BIOS Flash Failed

    Hi
I have a GTX670 PE. I tried to flash the bios with a modified bios in order to unlock the voltage but the flash didn't work properly and I can't flash back to the original bios as the card is not detected by the flash utility or the motherboard.
When I received the card it would not run stable at the stock settings and I had to underclock by 100mhz for it to be fully stable. I could not be bothered with the hassle of returning the card and I used it like this for 6 months or so. After a while it was annoying me not being able to get the full potential of the card so I looked into increasing the voltage in the hopes of getting it to run stable at the stock clocks. Hence why I tried flashing the bios on the card.
I fully accept that it is my fault that the card is not currently working due to my failed bios flash attempt. Is there anything I can do to fix the card? Would MSI be willing to fix the card and if so would a charge be involved?
    Thank you.

Create a dos boot stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0) and put nvflash for dos on it (http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvflash_download.html).
Boot from the stick using onboard gpu while having the GTX670 installed. Type nvflash --list. Now all compatible adapters are listed. If none shows up the card is dead.

  • BIOS flash fail... SOS!

Tried to flash my BIOS to the current version posted on live update via the winflash and it failed.. Now the system powers up and then shuts right back down. No beeps, no floppy access, no display.
What I need to know is my options for replacement or repair of the BIOS flash.
I've submitted a support request to MSI with the hopes that they can offer me answers.
I'm considering ordering a replacement board from serversupply.com since they seem to be the only bunch that offer that board anymore.

Did MSI ever get back with you?  They have not got back with me yet.  Hopefully MSI will fix the flash problem and save all these people the trouble, trash talk and all.

  • BIOS Flash failing exe failing every time.

I have an HP Pro 3120 Small Form Factor system running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with 2GB RAM.
I am trying to upgrade the RAM to 4GB however when I swap out my existing 2GB module with the new Crucial compatible 4GB module, the computer makes one short and then one long beep, which then repeats, and fails to boot.
I have tried the new memory module in another system and it works perfectly so it is not a faulty new module.
I have tried it in all 4 of the RAM slots in the MOBO and the same happens in each. I have tried it alongside the old module and it fails to boot.
I have read online that someone else had the same problem with this exact PC and trying to upgrade the memory, and they were advised that they needed to update the BISO version on their MOBO in order to upgrade the memory, which apparently worked.
I currently have BIOS 6.07 (02/07/2010) and the MOBO is an IPIEL-LA3.
The HP support and drivers page lists a BIOS update you can download which is 6.07 Rev A dated 10/03/2011.
I have downloaded this exe file and tried running it. The command prompt window opens, several lines confirm various actions all ok until it gest near the end and I get a message saying that the checksum has been destroyed, and the program has ended normally.
The flash fails to work, as when I try to reboot I get another message saying that the BISO has been reset to default settings and there is a checksum error - which I would expect when the BIOS has been changed. However upon entering the BIOS, it is still showing the old version, even after saving and exiting and rebooting again. So the exe file looks like it is failing to run properly. There is no option for a CD or USB install file on the HP drivers page - can anyone help and suggest a way around this? Thanks in advance, Scott

The specs for your motherboard show that it does not support 4G modules.
You would have to install 4- 2G modules to arrive at the max of 8gigs.
Your system uses Dual-Channel Memory. The modules should be upgraded in identical pairs.

  • Bios flash failed

    Hi,
During the bios update on my G60 with Windows 7 system freeze, so after 10 minutes of waiting I had to restart notebook. Now when I power on only black screen is pressent (power button and wifi lights are on). I need help to recover bios from (USB/CD). Can you provide me with bios file that I can copy to USB or CD to recover my bios.
I've extracted the file 360BF65.FD from the BIOS update SPxxx.exe on the HP support site, tryed to copy this file to USB but no luck.

    Best regards,

All the chips look soldered in, I believe its stored on the one labled via something on it correct? There are 2 chips labeled via, one promise (which I believe controls hardrives etc). One of the chips labeled via is def soldered in, and the other I cant really tell. The black top ofthechip is a little higher than the green board below it, and then a little below that is the normal red board. Does it cost anything to be reflashed? And where would Ihave to ship it to, and how long will it take total?Idont want to be without my computer for too long. My board is the msi k8t based on the via chipset.
What happened: I was using the live update utility, clicked live bios. Said there was anewer one,had some fixes and I thought that I might upgrade eventualy to the x800 pro so I might as well get it. It went throughthe normal process, said turn this program off, I turned off mozilla, and nothing else was running.I created the rescue disk, then clicked next next and it started the bios flashing through windows. When the bars were about halfway, the screen just went blank..... very strange. It was not a power outage, and I have an surge protector with a big battery too incase that happened. Maybe I am not using the rescue disk correctlys?I insert into the drive, turn the computer on, and hold ctrl and home...... what exactly am I supposed to do? I also thought that maybe the rescue diskwasnot created sucessfuly,so could you give me alink to a complete bios rescue disk that I could download and put onto a floppy to try again? Thanx for the answers, I was worried I woudl haveto buy a new motherboard! Im still not exactly sure which one is the bios chip and how to tell if its not soldered in...what wouldit look like?

  • BIOS flash failed on ProBook 4710s

    Hello..
Two days ago I updated BIOS from windows to F.17 version, but the problem was that the notebook started to work slower than before. (it wasn't Windows, because I tried to kill all proccesses and most of the services and it didn't help).
So I've decided to flash BIOS to F.15 version, I've updated BIOS and restarted. Notebook restarted two times with a blank screen, but the second time it staied blank and Capslock was blinking all the time.
And now I have a notebook with one blinking LED!!!!! nice....
BIOS update was downloaded from HP and the update didn't show any problems.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

    Same thing... It didn't help.
    I think I'll try this http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/2105-BIOS-Recovery-procedures.
But my question is: When I download new BIOS from this link, how do I know which file is BIOS (I've read that it has extension WPH).
    Inside downloaded file there are:
    HPQFlash.exe
    ROM.CAB
    sp46863.cva
    WSSP46863.rtf
    inside ROM.CAB are:
    Rom.bin (2 097 152 bytes)
    Rom.sig (64 bytes)
    ver.txt (109 bytes)
    ver.sig (64 bytes)
    efibios.sig (256 bytes)
and "This procedure is for Phoenix BIOS`es only", what does that mean????
    thank you in advace...

  • H97I BIOS flash failed

    Hi all -
    Board: MSI H97I-AC
    Bios: Unsure - as shipped
    VGA: None
    PSU: Generic 450w
    CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz LGA 1150
MEM: Corsair 1x4GB 1600 MHz Value Select
HDD: Crucial MX100 128 GB SDD
    COOLER: Zalman
    OC: None
    OS: None yet
I just tried to update my BIOS to the latest version (5.6) using the M-flash interface in the BIOS itself.  I let the process run through, but now I get nothing on reboot.  DVI monitor shows nothing, there's no beep - it seems dead.
I have tried to follow the instructions for flashing BIOS from USB, without luck. (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=174985.0)
I have also tried a CMOS clear - without success.
Is there anything else I can try, or is my brand new mobo dead in the water?
    Please help, thanks.

provide detailed system specifications, see >>Posting Guide<<
from which bios version to which bios version you have flash too?
have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed after bios update?
    Apologies - initial post amended.
I am about to go through the process of doing a Clear CMOS properly now.  I've also reformatted the USB and loaded the new firmware version on to re-attempt the BIOS recovery.
There is no display signal being sent to the monitor at all though.

I had a very similar experience.  Here is how I fixed it.
Download sp41954.exe from here  or search for it.
Double-click on the file to launch the application.  If you are running Vista or higher, close the program, go to where it extracted (C:\swsetup\sp41954) and find the file FirmwareUpdater.exe.  Right-click on the file and select properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".  Launch FirmwareUpdater.exe and create a bootable diskette.  If you are running XP, you can create the bootable diskette from the sp41954 directly.
Power off the laptop.  Connect the USB Floppy drive with the newly created diskette to the laptop.  Hold down all four arrow keys while turning on the laptop.  Continue to hold down the four arrow keys until you see either the num-lock or cap-lock key flashing ( don't remember which).  It should be reading from the diskette.  After a minute or so, the laptop should reboot and operate normally.
When I did this, I disconnected everything from the laptop and removed the battery.  I do not know if it was necessary to remove everything or not.
    Hope this helps.

  • Satellite C660D - BIOS flash failed

I've updated Toshiba Satellite C660D-16E (PSC20E) with BIOS version 1.60 and it updated without error. BIOS version file is DELHI10AB_10ABG_BIOS_160_WIN. When it rebooted it was a blank screen and bricked. I've tried to find older bios for this laptop and use wincrisis to recover the bios. It responds to holding FN+B keys while poweron without batrtery and LED on USB drive flashes for a while but that is it :/
    Any ideas?

The BIOS v1.60-win package could be downloaded from here:
    http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...0601184846.zip
    Unzip the package.
Then you will find the file: DELHI10AB_10ABG_BIOS_160_WIN.exe
This exe file is also an zipped package.
Click right on this exe file and choose extract here.
Within the DELHI10AB_10ABG_BIOS_160_WIN folder you will find the bios.rom and the ec.rom
But I’m not quite sure if you flashing the BIOS once again would fix your issue… maybe the EPROM module is affected.

OK Have done that but I get the message
"Insert Rescue disk Can't find Sys.ini"
It would appear that the windows boot log has been erased - the folders are there but are empty.
Retracing my steps in trying to load the USB stuff I looked in a folder on the MSI master disk which directed me to run a Win3XPatch ( sorry not sure if that is the exact name the disk isn't here right now) This installed and in turn directed me to a file called win9x-me (again I think) which it lead me to believe the drivers were in - I'll try to get the disk back and post the exact file names
