T500 Blue Screen

We have purchased several T500 over the past few months, and until recently, have had pretty good luck with them. In the past 2 weeks, we have had three instances where the machines have blue screened , (your machine has experienced a serious error, bla, bla, bla, if this is the first time you have received this error, reboot, or boot into the safe mode etc. In each of these instances, we have been forced to take the machine back to factory defaults, as it would not boot up any other way. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

I assume Windows Safe Mode (F8) also had blue screens on boot.
You could try Lenovo PC Doctor (CD ISO boot) with does DOS-level hardware checks and full system scans, which would either pin point the problem, or rule out hardware as the problem.

  • T500 - JUST ANOTHER BLUE SCREEN

I've been getting the kiss of death blue screen crash ever since I bought the laptop in January 2009.  ONCE A WEEK average.  My hardware provider says it can't be true because he tested it, that it must be a software issue.  IT'S NOT.  I've been on the phone with tech support in Atlanta, to no avail.  I just had to reinstall and even buy some new upgraded software after my last crash that wiped everything off the hard drive.  My hardware provider wiped off Vista and put on XP.  Since everything has been put back on, I've had 3 crashes in 3 days, and am presently doing ANOTHER hard drive Full System Test.  I make a living on this computer, and have lost several thousand dollars in the last 2 weeks.  I paid for the best-of-the-best and all accessories, and can't afford to buy a different laptop.  SOMEBODY HELP, PLEASE.

I had a somewhat similar problem with my T500. It was due to a Windows update called "SQL Server Express SP3". What I did was that I restored the systerm to a previous point and skipped to install this update. Its working fine since then.

Screen Saver goes on.  Hit button or press mouse pad and Ctrl-Alt-Del or swipe finger security prompt appears.  With that prompt left up, it will disappear leaving nothing but the mouse.   Ctrl-Alt-Del will not help nor any other keys.  Will go into hibernate or sleep just to bring back blue screen.  Have to shut down to get to work again.    If hit Ctrl-Alt-Del will attempt to log me back in to machine with credentials.  If that inteface stays up, will blue screen as well.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

It's because the FPR software seems to have a problem. Deinstall it and wait for the new version. We are working on it

  • Repeated blue screen on 4 days new T500

I received my new T500 less than a week and the blue screen keep appearing and reboot itself 5-6 times constantly.  Tried to contact lenovo through their support website but the link keep broken.  Any clue anyone where I can get some help?  I'm extremely frustrating with lenovo currently with the product and their support contact information.

Hello koko, welcome to Lenovo forum!
Please tell us your type, model number, not S/N, and used OS please.
That will help us to help you.
Please tell us also, which contact link didn´t work for you.
As a first aid I would suggest to disable automatic restart in Windows.
Go to control panel, system properties and click advanced tab. There should be a button settings- system start and recovery.
Click on it and uncheck the box automatic restart.

  • T500 crashed, no blue screen.

I've owned my T500 (running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit)  for a year and have only started experiencing this issue today.  It has crashed twice today, both times the laptop just shutdown, no blue screen was displayed.  What could be causing this?  Both crashes occured while I was playing a game, Civilization 4.

download everest and check the temperature of the CPU and GPU. Also which GPU model do you have?

  • Blue screen of death twice 2 days after receiving T510

    Hi all,
I encounter the dreaded Blue Screen of Death 2 times in two days, with a brand new T510.
The first one came as such a surprise in a meeting that I couldn't catch what it was. The 2nd time happend just now and I decided to post and ask for advice. The error for this time is "bad_pool_header" - not sure what that is.
The 2nd time is not necessarily the same as the 1st time. It seems that the display driver is not very stable. There were various times that, when I open the lid while connecting to an external monitor, the whole image on the external screen flickered vigorously. Windows 7 complain the display driver had crashed and windows has recovered from the error. I suspect the first time Blue Screen may be related to this too.
Anyway, although I like this system a lot, two blue screens in two days after receiving the new machine on Wednesday is pretty frustrating to me. Would Lenovo please iron out some stable and high quality drivers with the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Experience? May be with the parts manufacturer please?
    Thanks all!
    Campion

I would start with installing the latest bios and video driver updates off of lenovo's site.  (do not use the TVSU since that tends to be slower at propigating new updates).  It is new hardware and there is the possiblity of drivers and/or bios being updated since the drive images Lenovo installs from where created.
Of course random BSOD's could also be bad ram.  I would try running MemTest86 on the system and making sure it can successfully pass the tests, and make sure you call customer service and report this so that they know of the issue moving forward.
    Best of luck!

  • USB727 Windows 7 x64 Blue Screen of Death BSOD

    Hi,
Every time I use my Verizon USB727 on Windows 7 x64, after removing, when I try and suspend (sleep) my laptop I get a BSOD. I have a Lenovo T500. I am running in NDIS mode.
This worked great under Vista x32.
If I shutdown my laptop before removing the adapter all is well, however I'd like to put it to sleep as I often travel from place to place and I like to resume my work where I left off. The issue seems to be Windows can't put the device into a sleep state and unload/suspend the Novetel drivers. Without using the USB727, I have no issues. The suspend will hang trying to suspend. Sometimes it will go back to locked screen. After 5-20 minutes the BSOD occurs and the laptop reboots itself.
Windows x64 Enterprise Edition -- all latest MS updates applied as of 12/18/2010
    VZaccess Manager v7.2.1.2 (2420b)
I have called support and all they can tell me is, there are no reported problems and I have the latest drivers.

    Hello Suzerain,
First of all, upgrade BIOS to the latest version, remove all unnecessary hardware devices from the computer and try entering Windows safe mode to test whether it is a third-party software/hardware compatibility issue. If so, please download and run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to check the reason for the issue. If the issue is caused by some incompatible driver, you might go to Device Manager, right click your hardware device in the list and select Update Driver Software; then click Search automatically for updated driver software.
If you still get the BSOD error after installing the latest driver, please understand that Windows system uses separated user mode and kernel mode memory space, stop errors are always caused by kernel portion components, such as a hardware device, third-party drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services).
The system goes to a blue screen because there is some exceptions happened in the kernel (either the device driver errors or the service errors), and Windows implements this mechanism: When it detects some errors occur in the kernel, it will kill the box in case some more severe damage happens. Then we get a blue screen or the system reboots (it depends on what the system settings are).
To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:

If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers.
I hope the problem will be resolved soon. Thanks!

  • R61 driver issues/ blue screen

    Hello all:
I have a 2008 R61 (7733) Serial (L3-G5721). I got this computer through my college at the time, and over a 2 year span I had 4 or 5 HDD replaced through the Lenovo service program on campus. Now I recently replaced my HDD 2 times so far since leaving my school in 2010, none were for bad HDD's like previously. I had Issues with Lenovo/Windows drivers. Now on my 3rd an WD black. What I would like to know is my HDD or Motherboard is having driver issues?!? How can I fix this?!? Is their a program that can diagnose what driver is causing my blue screens and also keeping me from booting up the laptop past the extended boot screen?!? Love that laptop so much runs like a tank besides the HDD problem it's very solid any help is appriciated.
    Sincerely:

     Hi,
Do not rely solely on System Update to maintain your computer. It frequently is weeks, months and even years out of date. Some updates never get to System Update at all. In addition, the driver matrix does not contain all patches and updates.  Because you don’t have a preload, it is possible that you are missing some critical updates, which may not be in the Driver Matrix, and I am not sure if they are available using System Update. I suggest that you verify if the following updates are installed on your computer.

There might be others, but these come to mind first.
Here are some examples of System Update being out of date:
Update Retriever and System Update contain drivers for System Migration Assistant 6.0, at version 6.00.0009, while the Driver Matrix and Drivers and Software pages indicate the current version at 6.0.010 (released on Nov 23, 2009).

    -  Update Retriever and System Update contain drivers for Enabling Wake on LAN from Standby for ENERGY STAR Version 4.0, for version 1.06, while the Driver Matrix and Drivers and Softwarepages indicate the current version at 1.07 (originally released on Feb 15, 2011).
I even tried submitting site feedback, rather than opening a dialog using the Lenovo Forums to get some of these problems fixed. The astonishing response I got back from the Lenovo Web Content Team was:
    Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for your feedback. We have checked the link that you have provided. Yes, the current version is the one in the document, however since we haven't received the latest xml file for the driver, that is why in TVSU contains the previous driver update. In the meantime, please download manually. We will update TVSU with the latest package as soon as we receive it.

  • Windows Blue Screen Error Message Appears As Soon As IPod Connected

Everytime I connect my IPod to my computer, I get the Windows Blue Screen error message. Thought it was the cable, so plugged cable in by itself. No problem. Uninstalled IPod and ITunes software and then plugged in IPod, still got the Blue Screen. The Blue Screen says something about "recent plugged in device problem". It is not the cable, it must be the IPod. Did not have this problem when I bought it. Tried it on labtop and get the same error message. I can't do updater or anything that requires me to plug the IPod into a computer because the Blue Screen appears immediately. When I unplug, the Blue Screen remains and locks up the computer so I have to restart each time. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

  • Mini DVI to Video: blue screen after disconnect

    Hi,
can't find a solution: after disconnecting the mini dvi to video-adapter I always get a blue screen and I need to restart my brandnew 20" iMac.
I use it to connect my (old) television via s-video. It is clear that I bought the right Mini-DVI-Adapter.
Can anyone help or has the same problem?
    iMac 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks for the help. I'd figured out that shutting it off would keep it from happening and was probably a "best practice," but since 90% of my television watching is from my eyeTV, I'd be turning it on and off a lot.
The only problem with leaving the setup plugged in, is that as soon as the mini DVI cable is plugged in, the resolution on the iMac resets itself to super-large fit for television mode and becomes virtually unusable as a computer, thus when I want to use my computer, the cable has to be unplugged....unless of course you know something I don't
    Thanks,
    Shaun

  • My iPhone would just randomly give me a blue screen and then restart--did that a bunch of times between Tuesday and last night. As of last night, it WILL NOT come back on. iTunes says it's in recovery mode....what does all of this mean???

Tuesday night I was texting a friend and when I went to open her message, my screen went blue and restarted. I just wrote it off as weird and went on about my business. Later that night, I tried to turn on my phone and it would not turn on. I plugged it up, held down the power button, and pressed the home button all numerous times. I looked online and it said to do a "hard reset" by holding down the power and home button at the same time--my phone then came on. Throughout Wednesday, it would give me a blue screen and restart--nothing major just really annoying. I took it to the local Verizon store where I bought the phone from and he said that it was some type of hardware defect and I was still under my year warranty so I could get a new one for free--the free phone won't be here until tomorrow, Saturday. I took it home and it didn't give me any trouble for a couple of hours. The next day it was cooperating and then I left town for a little while and it acted up (blue screen and then restarting) a few times. When I got home, it acted up again and so I restarted the phone and it was working fine. A few minutes later, I tried to check my messages and the phone was off again. No matter what I do, my phone will not come back to life. It had at least 45% battery last time I looked at it. I decided to plug the phone up to my computer and see what it did--my computer recognizes that there is a phone hooked to it and it says that it's in "recovery mode". It also said that if I'm having issues with my phone, that I need to reset the phone via iTunes. I guess the questions that arise are
    1. Why is my phone doing this?
    2. If I reset my phone, will it go back to working again? I ask that because I don't want Verizon to charge me $300 when they send me the replacement phone and I won't need it (assuming that the phone decides to work once it's been reset).
    3. What type of hardware defect is this that is causing this issue, not only with my iPhone 5S but others as well?
    4. Shouldn't people be notifying Apple and letting them know that they need to fix this issue?
    5. Should I report this issue to Apple even though I didn't buy the phone directly from them, but through Verizon?
Any help that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated! This whole situation has me stressed out and seriously confused.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand you have been experiencing issues with your iPhone restarting and showing you a blue screen.  I wont be able to give you an exact answer as to why this is happening.  However, this is the most relevant troubleshooting article for this issue.  This article also provides options to reach out to us via phone for additional assistance.

  • Blue Screen, kernel_data_inpage_error, disk drives missing on reboot

I just bought a new laptop, ASUS ROG G750JW, and installed a Mushkin Chronos 240GB SSD. I clean installed Windows 8.1 Pro on the SSD, and kept the original 750GB HDD, as well as a 500GB HDD, as secondary drives. I have been having rather random blue screens.
I had to disable auto-restart to see the error message: kernel_data_inpage_error.
The fun part is that when I soft restart after the blue screen, my hard drives are missing from the BIOS. I have to completely power down and then restart it for the HDDs to be detected. Since all 3 drives go missing, I can be rather confident that the problem
is not caused by any one of the drives (i.e. my SSD is not defective).
The problem originally occurred when I was installing Office 365 - the laptop would blue screen every time I tried starting the installation. However, each attempt would proceed a little further and eventually Office installed, so I can't use that as a reliable
test. Other occurrences have been, as far as I can tell, completely random. I was noticing that the BSOD occurred often enough during Windows Update installs, but I could not find any significant correlation when I compared my event log to my update
log. I was able to install the most recent Windows 8.1 Update released this Tuesday with no problems.
I have run diagnostics on all of my drives, which come back completely green. I have run chkdsk and sfc /scannow, none of which reported any errors. I have also run Driver Verifier according to the instructions
in this article which did catch several "0x000000c4" bug checks, which I was able to narrow down to the miniport driver.
My last action was to disable checking this driver in Driver Verifier, and I have not since experienced any problems. I have just finished running a 2+ hour long stability test using AIDA64 portable trial version, which caused no problems.
Since my drives go missing when this happens (whether as a cause or effect, I do not know), I have no memory dumps or event logs to share. I have since configured Windows to save memory dumps to my laptop, but with no reliable way to cause the blue screen,
I've been unable to capture a dump yet.
Soooo who wants to help me fix this? I've been offered warranty RMAs by both ASUS and Mushkin, but until I can reliably reproduce the error and confirm the cause, I'm not sending anything back (cause I don't know
    what to send!).

    Jay
If you don't have dmps lets take a look at your event viewer logs
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
    Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The
work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do
    Press Win+"R" and input regedit
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"
