T500 CPU compatibility?

I know it's probably not a very good idea....
I have a T500 bought 4 years ago with P8600 3M 2.40GHz 1066MHz FSB cpu.
Now I happen to get a FF80576T9300 t9300 6M 2.50GHz 800MHz FSB cpu. I wonder if is possible to replace P8600 with T9300?
If it is possible, will the lapto have a better performance?
It's confusing to me because the official datasheet of T500 does not list t9300 as an option but the specs of the two cpu looks very similar.
t9300 has a minor advantage in speed and a doubled L2. But it's FSB actually slower than P8600. I wonder if it is worth or not to replace P8600 with t9300.
Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

It is the wrong class of CPU. It is compatible with the prior generation (T61), and will not work in a T500. You can use a T9400 or T9600.

CPU Compatibility lists are missing from some mainboard pages

Since the latest web site revamp, some CPU Compatibility/support file links have disappeared. The one I am mainly interested in is for the K9N2 SLI Platinum. I want to change my cpu-and now there is no way to tell what is supported. The Support-Test link is still there, as is the various downloads, but there is no way to find the cpu support file. The DKA790GX page used to be missing the CPU link, but got one a few days ago. Several other older mainboards I looked at are also missing the cpu support link. Thanks

Ovm_utils: can create cpu compatibility group, but can't add vm servers

Hi,
I am running a VM server pool with mixed CPU types. Today I took a closer look at Wim Coekaerts ovm_utils, which revealed that ovm_utils is able to create (arbitrary) cpugroups and move VM servers into them. I thought that this would be a nice thing to try, since it had always bogged me, that OVMM was too strict when it comes to live migration of VMs between VM servers with non-identical CPUs and that I had always use xm migrate -l to perform that task manually.
Now, setting up a new cpugroup using ovm_managercontrol was easy and went like this:
ovm_managercontrol -u admin -p ********** -h localhost -c createcpugroup -n ASM_POOL
Which turn created a new cpugroup, as I verified with listcpugroups:

This worked fine, from what i can see you just mis-typed your servername:
-s oravlevms08 --> oraclevms08

Would the CPU Compatibility chart on the relevent motherboard web page, have the latest Compatibility info? Just checking before I upgrade.

P6N SLI Platinum - Model 7350 - CPU Compatibility and 4 Red Lights

The CPU compatibility list shows that the Intel E6400 is "under testing". I have been running the subject motherboard with an E6400 for 2 months before a system failure.
The system would not post and the D-Bracket connector showed 4 red lights indicating processor damage or not installed properly. The processor was removed and reseated. Still no post. The processor was removed and replaced with a new E6400. Still 4 red lights. the power supply tested ok. All components were removed and reinstalled one at a time. Still 4 red lights. The mother board was removed from the case and tested outside the case with no components. Still 4 red lights.
Although Intel replaced the processor (as indicated above) one technician stated that the motherboard is "under testing" and he was concerned about long term compatibility.
My last recourse is to replace the 7350 motherboard but I want to be sure it is compatible with the E6400.
Any help or advice regarding the compatibility issue or the 4 red light failure issue is appreciated.

Tried resetting CMOS several times (pushed button). Power Supply disconnected. Removed battery. Replaced battery. Motherboard out of case. only thing installed is video card. Still 4 red lights.
Should also tell you that memory was removed from 2 slots and put back into 1 slot. No change.

A CPU compatibility question for the P35 Neo-F

I was considering buying a P35 Neo-F to go along with an e5200.

However after going through the comments it seems the e5200 may require a bios flash to work. I found MSI's CPU compatibility list (http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodpage2&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170&cat3_no=2) but it doesn't list a P35 Neo-F. The P35 Neo, while sharing the same picture as the Neo-F, doesn't list the bios versions mentioned in the Newegg comments and on other parts of the internet. Can anyone help me clear up this confusion?

I swapped my 533mhz ram for one test stick of 667mhz and it now has monitor output. It wont accept input from my USB keyboard so I'm using an old PS/2. It gives me the option of switching to post or going to a bios setup menu. They both bring me to the same page (not sure what this is, post?) giving me my bios version (1.7), cpu info, ram info, saying USB Controllers are loaded, and telling me to press F11 for a boot menu. At this point my keyboards become unresponsive, though interestingly if I plug in a USB keyboard it's LEDs will light up.
Assuming this behavior is all normal for an unsupported CPU I could install my Pentium D long enough to flash the bios. There are some major problems with this:
I don't have any spare thermal paste. I can't use my e5200 heatsink with my Pentium D and I'm afraid of having to reseat the heatsink onto the e5200 without new paste.
The Pentium D heatsink either appears to be a BTX design or a Dell proprietary design and wont fit into this motherboard. I have considered simply placing the heatsink ontop the processor just long enough to be able to flash the bios. On one hand it wont be doing anything really intensive and creating alot of heat, but on the other it is notorious for being hot and I don't want to damage it or have it shut down while I'm mid bios update.
If I really need to I could bother my neighbor for some thermal paste, he may very well have some.
I very much appreciate your advice.

Which is the highest clock processor I can put?
I think AMD Athlon (Thunderbird core) 1400 MHz is, but the
highest manual multiplier I have seen in the BIOS (3.6v
latest) is only 13.5x (although the automatic "MAY" work at 14x, not tested)
Is it possible to put an AMD Athlon 1800+ (Palomino core, 0.18um like the thunderbird)
provided that I manually set the FSB at 100 MHz?
I suppose that because of the 0.18 manufacturing process,
palomino 1800+ should have (at least) electrical compatibility with the mobo...
I should also mention that it is possible to set the CPU
voltage as low as 1.3V
Taking into account this fact, is it possible to put an
0.13um Athlon (Thoroughbred (256KB L2 Cache), Barton (512KB L2 Cache))?
Does anyone know anything about these cores' electrical compatibility with this mobo?
Has anyone tested any of the above?
Is there any chance/risk of frying the cpu and/or mobo?

Considering the above, I have four choices of cpu upgrade (with descending order).
   1) put an Athlon XP 0.13um Barton 2500+ (best choice)
   2) put an Athlon XP 0.13um Thoroughbred 2000+ (less better choice)
   3) put an Athlon XP 0.18um Palomino 1800+ (mediocre choice)
   4) put an Athlon 0.18um Thundebird 1400 MHz (worst choice, also see ps2)
Which of the above four choices are working?

ps2: Here in Greece, you can hardly find anything less than 2 GHz, or 2000+.

The CPU can set the miltiplier, the fact there is no x14 multiplier would only be a problem if you try and setit manually rather than default.

The internet provides some details about this error message.
It seem that in order to install the Win 8 CP the CPU should support PAE/NX/SSE2 features
Never-eXecute Bit ( [NX bit|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_bit] ) allows marking of memory pages as non-executable.
Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) is a previous standard that is supported by Intel and AMD CPU. Therefore all CPUs that support NX would also support SSE2 too.
Usually enabling the XD (for Intel CPUs) or NX (for AMD CPUs) in BIOS should disable this error message.
But if this is not available in BIOS then either the CPU does not supports this feature or the BIOS does not support this option.
According to Intel Ark page the Intel Core i3-380M supports Execute Disable Bit. So possibly the BIOS does not support this feature

970A-G46 CPU Compatability?

I want to upgrade to the AMD FX 9370 but do not see it listed as being compatible? I'm wondering if the compatability page is current?

I have been in AMD's corner since 1999 (Intel has never really given me sufficient motivation to go back to them), and I really would advise you to stay away from these monstrously over-volted FX-9xxx cpus (which are horrifically over-volted & custom-cooled FX-8xxx's, anyway!) By contrast, FX-9xxx systems are power hogs and massive heat producers (that need water cooling, bigger PSUs, fans, and more--all for very little gain.)
Even if you want water-cooling, go with the 970 Gamer* & either an FX-6xxx or FX-8xxx, and get the same results for a good deal less money and a lot less headache. It's my opinion, of course, but I do think it is good advice. Plow the money you save into more ram or a better gpu or an SSD etc.
*[Advice on the 970Gamer is provisional, based on its suitability for an 125W FX-8xxx which at the moment is thought to be supported, whereas the G46-970a (a great mboard which I've had for awhile now) isn't recommended for 125W cpu support for various good reasons.]

T500 CPU Load at 100 always

My T500 is always at 100% CPU load what is causing this and how do I stop it? My T61 used to do this also.

Hello, I'm not sure where to put this topic exactly but is the LGA 2011 motherboard 22nm ready for an Ivy Bridge - E Processor? I can't seem to find in the specs if what nm technology is it compatible. Or would I rather get a Sandy Bridge - E instead?

I'm not familiar with flashing bios mainly because I haven't tried it yet and had not experienced it, but I have read the notice on Ivy Bridge CPU support. Would like to ask if there are there any compatibility issues (like stability issues experienced) or disadvantages when running on an Ivy Bridge CPU made possible due to a BIOS update? Also, would I have to update the UEFI/BIOS each time I reformat?

K8N Neo2-FX CPU compatibility question

Thinking about upgrading my Athlon 64 to a dual core, and can't seem to find out anywhere if the CPU I want to buy is compatible with my mobo (K8N-Neo2-FX). I don't see why not, but you never know. I'm looking at an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Toledo (Model # ADA3800DAA5CD). The MSI compatibility chart doesn't even seem to know that this CPU exists (the only Toledo cores it lists are the 2x1MB L2 cache models, and this is a 2x512KB). I don't want to buy the CPU if it won't work - anybody know if this combo will work out okay? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Thanks guys! I guess I'll go ahead and get my chip. One other question that's arisen, though. I'm also looking at an eVGA 7800GS AGP GPU upgrade. From what I can see this card is BIG (I'm talking physical size). It looks like the HSF on the chipset of the Neo2-FX is pretty much right beside the AGP slot - does anyone know if this GPU will fit on this board, or does that HSF get in the way? Thanks again!
