T500 gobbling Hard Disk Storage

My daughters's T500, new in June is showing 74% of the Hard drive used in a "unscanned" area containing 0 files, yet uses over 94 Gb. I checked the repair and recovery and it shows no backed up files. I deleted the RMR program and this did not recover any space. Any ideas what is slowly eating away the available storage. As an aside the hard drive is a refurbished one as the new one died, and Lenovo sent under warranty as a "replacement" a refurbished drive. The o/s is Vista.

12 inch PB--Hard Disk less than 80G

I just bought my 12 inch Powerbook at an Apple Store last week. To my knowledge, this model is supposed to have 80Gigs of Hard Disk storage, but why does it just say around 71 gigabytes? I feel like I'm getting robbed for the space that I thought I paid for.

it has been mentioned in a previous post, so just to give you a bit more detail:
It depends what you define as one GB. The industry usually defines 1GB as 1000×1000 bytes (1,000,000 bytes). The mac defines 1GB as 1024×1024 bytes (1,048,576 bytes).
Some additional issues are formatting and partitioning, which eats up some space as well.

Smb lan hard disk problems...

ok after a LOT of problems getting a new Lan hard disk storage setup i have a new problem.
I can connect via smb://192.168.2.78 no probs... and can access the drive (i had transfered my itunes folder over to it via usb connection) but when i use itunes to link the library to the new location or even try and trasfer a lot of data to it it stops, disconnects and unable to use until i restart the drive.
i hope someone can help...thanks

If your drive supports self-tests, perform a long one and review the results:

If the self-test doesn't confirm bad sectors you should do a system update with pacman.
Otherwise I'd prepare to back up my data.

Yosemite keeps hiding my Hard Drive storage

Yosemite wiped over 200gb of my hard disk storage space, caused so many problems i had to restore a previous back up and update Yosemite. All good for 1 day - 1 minute 250 gb of hard disk space, next minute 35mb. Any idea what is going on??

Other is everything that does not fit in the listed categories, assume you write a letter, that's other, make a spreadsheet, that's other, other is in fact everything else. Please note, although you listed 'Documents' as one of the categories it is not, see below.
MacKeeper is bad, try to remove it of you can (it can be very difficult to remove) post back in a new thread for instructions on the MacKeeper removal

T500/Vista consuming HD storage space

My daughter who is currently back from University fro the Christmas holidays, has an ongoing problem with the Hard disk storage. Based on feedback from this forum I was able to recover most of her HD storage, about 90Gb, but in the last two days 8.4Gb has been "consumed" and shows as unscanned 0 files. While I could likely re-run the disk clean-up utility to recover this space, I would like to understand what is consuming her Hard drive space, and stop it from occurring. I again checked the back ups in the rescue and recovery and it shows there are no files. Her operationg system is Vista home Premium.

If you have the two allotted activations already and one was lost on the hard drive that failed then you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

How to remove a hard disk file on storage

Hello,
In my process, I would like to remove an additional disk.
To achieve that task, I have found "Remove VM device". It is a VMware box that I can use to remove any device (including Hard disks) and I have not found another box to do that.
But file on storage is not deleted, only the logical disk on the VM is removed.
So I was wondering if there could be another way to remove also the file on the storage?
Is a “dedicated” remove Hard disk vmware box exists in Tidal versions greater to 2.3.1?

There is no specific "Remove Hard Disk" activity in 2.3.1 or the upcoming 2.3.4.
Have you tried the PowerCLI command "Remove-HardDisk"? If that works for you, in 2.3.1 you can use a Windows PowerShell activity to run PowerCLI and execute a simple script that runs this command against the VM. Unfortunately, this requires connecting to vCenter directly (not through the adapter) and you will need to supply credentials.
Or, better, use the "Execute PowerCLI Script" activity in the upcoming 2.3.4 VMware Adapter.. where you can run PowerCLI activities that use your existing VMware vCenter Server target's connection and don't need supply credentials separately.

Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Using 4TB hard disk

Hi, I have a HP X1600 G2, then I bought 12 x 4TB hard disk for increasing the disk space for this unit.
What I want to do is using the hardware array to configure the following:
3 x 4TB RAID-5 plus 1 Spare to create 3 Logical Drives.
Then Spanned set it to a total of 24TB drive within the system.
Is it going to be work, or not?

Yes, after I setup on the RAID controller, with GPT on the hard disk, I am able to create the spanned set for 24TB on the Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 that comes with the unit.

Only AppleTV1 has an internal PATA drive. The largest PATA drive available is 250gb.
Hacks are available to use the USB port on AppleTV1 to access more storage.
AppleTV2 does not have an internal drive.
Why do you need more storage in your AppleTV? iTunes streams video to AppleTV so no need to store it locally.

I deployed 2 hyper v vitual machines a while ago, and i did that because I needed to test my current game Project, which is an
online game. However, i've had some problems with my Windows installation then I had to reset the pc by making it a refresh
install. I still have the hyper v virtual disks, but i cannot attach it to a new hyper-v virtual machine. it pops up this message:

where the virtual hard disk is located does not support virtual disk sharing". I dont know anything about virtual machines, so I
didnt know I had to make the disk sharable. How can I force to attach the hard disk to a new hyper-v? I dont want to go t
hrough the whole proccess of installing the operating system all over again and updating it....

According to the error message , it seems that it is not a permission issue .
The VM is Gen 1 or Gen2 ?
Generally the error message occurs when you enable "shared vhdx" on standalone/client hyper-v host :
Please try to attach the VHDx file to IDE controller if it is a Gen 1 virtual machine (because only the SCSI controller has the option "virtual hard disk sharing" and Gen 1 VM only can boot from IDE )
All in all , please do not use this feature without CSV or Scale-Out File Server with SMB 3.0 on file-based storage .
If it is not the case , please detail steps what you did .

How can I have ext hard disks show on "About this Mac/Storage" that are ousted and show on screen

I have Mac 10.9.5, Intel. I was working in iMovie, when message came up and said I do not have enough space on my hard disk.. I have several hundred GB available. All my ext. HD's appear on my screen. In "About this mac/storage" only my HD and two of the four external drives show up. The two ext. drives that show on "about This Mac" are full. I have done a disk utility check on every drive and they are fine. Also, the whole machine is very slow. I have rebooted also.
