T500 integrated graphics in W8.1
I have a T500 (2081-CTO) with switchable graphics (Intel GMA 4500MHD and ATI 3650) and a 1680x1050 internal display. I am thinking about an upgrade from Vista SP2 to either Win7 or Win8.1. I understand from this thread - http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8-and-8-1/T400-Switchable-Graphics-and-Windows-8/td-p/840491 - that switchable graphics may be made to work in Win8.1. My first question is, if I do a clean full install of Win8.1 and then get Intel's 8.15.10.2702 from MSDN.Microsoft.com Windows Update / Dynamic Update, what will I have? Will I have full internal resolution, or something less? My second question is, should I set BIOS for "integrated only" before doing this? Thanks.
Hi! I'm in the same situation as you. Actually, I haven't found any solution for switchable graphics yet, but I can tell you, Win 8.1 is great and you should switch to it. Startisback is great also.
Except switchable graphics there is no other cons. ATI or Intel work great on WDDM drivers from Windows Update (you don't need to search for branded drivers). Your Win may switch your video cards randomly (mine used to), so I turned off switchable graphics in BIOS, and set ATI as the only video card. For month I have no problem at all, my T500 uptimes are for around 2 weeks.

T410 Dual monitor support with integrated graphics
I am considering purchasing a T410 with integrated graphics, but I need to make sure it will support dual digital displays (with a dock of course). I use a T500 for work, and when I switch to the integrated chip, I am unable to use dual monitors.
Can someone confirm that the T410 (integrated graphics) can use dual digital displays with a dock?Should work. That NEC is 1920x1080 which is suported on the single-link DVI. DP can handle even more. The dock has both DVI and DP. Your ThinkPad supports the 2 monitor outs. My understanding is the ThinkPad LCD would need to be off when you do this; the specs on the dock mention max 2 monitors simultaneously.

T500: Switchable graphics on Windows 7 RC 32-bit?
Hi, I've got a new T500 2055-CTO with switchable graphics. Has anyone gotten this to work? Whenever I try to switch to ATI nothing happens (the mouse cursor goes into busy state for a few seconds the first time I try after a reboot).
Besides, my screen image gets corrupted periodically while working using the integrated Intel graphics, I can fix it by rearranging windows etc but quite annoying.
Also, my mouse when controlled by the trackpoint/pad will freeze up every now and then but keyboard will still work when this happens. No issues with an external USB mouse attached.
I've tried the official switchable Vista 32-bit driver and also a beta one listed here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-71851
But none of them solve the problem.
Any ideas or input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
HansHello Hans:
I have a W500, which I think is somewhat similar to a T500 - it also has switchable graphics.
Long, long ago (back when I was using Vista before SP2), I went into the BIOS and turned off the switchable graphics feature - I told the computer to use the discrete graphics all the time, and to totally ignore the integrated graphics.
Since then, my life has been a lot simpler, the computer has been trouble-free (both on Vista SP1, Vista SP2, and W7 build 7100), and battery life has been more than sufficient for my needs (about 3 hours total, with everything set to 'high performance').
I think that the 'switchable graphics' feature is one of these things that sounds good conceptually, but is too much of a PITA in reality. I applaud Lenovo for trying it out - but, unless you really, really need it (meaning, you suffer from electricity shortages on a regular basis), it is more trouble than it is worth. Just turn it off, forget about it, and start enjoying life.

No DVI output with T420 on integrated graphics card and Mini Dock Series 3
Because of some application problems I have to set my new T420 to only use the integrated graphics card (disabling the NVidia Optimus feature). In this configuration I seem to be unable to use the DVI port on the Mini Dock Series 3, there is simply no signal and Windows reports that no monitor could be found. The VGA output works but the picture quality is quite bad.
Is this a known design limitation or do I deal with a driver issue?
Thanks
DanYes, that works but there is the drawback of battery life. In the course of the day I often undock the laptop to go to meetings and using the discreet graphics card uses a lot more power and significantly reduces the time i can work without power. I would have to restart the laptop and change the setting in the BIOS after I undock, which is just not practical. For what I do I don't need the graphics power of the discreet card.

T410 with integrated graphics - DVI output not working on Mini Dock 3 (4337)
I tried connecting my external monitor to the DVI output of the Mini Dock and it did not work. I have since connected it with no issus to the VGA output.
However, I want to use the digital (DVI) connection for my monitor........how can i fix this issue?
NOTE: I have a T410 with the integrated graphics so my laptop screen does not display while docked (I keep the lid closed).Hi MarkinIt,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with no Display when connected to docking station on your ThinkPad T410.
Have you checked updating the Intel graphic driver from Lenovo support site?
Please provide the current Graphic driver version showing in device manager.
Is the system having Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS?
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Systemd multiseat with NVidia card and Intel integrated graphics
I'm trying to set up multiseat Gnome 3 on a system running the nvidia proprietary drivers. The first seat on the nvidia GPU is working fine. For the second seat I'm trying to use an integrated Intel GPU, but all I get is the GDM "Oh no, something has gone wrong" screen. I'm not sure why, but I suspect it could be because the intel driver is also trying to load nvidia's libglx.so:

You can't use both cards at the same time as of writing this (DirectX 11), but with the arrival of Windows 10 and DirectX 12 on July 29 you will be able to use both at once to increase performance. Until then, though, it is simply not possible to use both at once. The best option is to just use the GTX 860M.

Thinkpad T420, Integrated Graphics, Dual Monitors
Warning: this isn't really a problem thread. I've looked and looked but can't find a definitive answer for my question.
I'm seriously considering a Thinkpad T420 for a new work laptop. I've heard great things from many people, but the most important question has yet to be answered: if I get one with integrated graphics (Intel HD 3000), will dual monitors work with VGA and DisplayPort with a DVI adapter? It's crucial that I'm able to use two external monitors simultaneously and I'm sick of using TwinView because I can't rotate a monitor. Can anyone confirm that this works?according to tabook.pdf
Intel HD Graphics 3000 in processor,
external analog monitor support via VGA DB-15 connector and
digital monitor support via DisplayPort (supports single-link DVI-D via cable 45J7915);
supports dual independent display;
Maximum external resolution: 2560x1600 (DisplayPort)@60Hz;
2048x1536 (VGA)@75Hz; 1920x1200@60Hz (single-link DVI-D via cable 45J7915)
So, it looks like the hardware is certainly capable of it. -
T400 - only integrated graphics?
There seems to be only integrated graphics for the T400 (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with vPro)... Can a dedicated graphics card be added to it?
Do you mean the T400 literally, or some other machine? Do you already have the T400, or are you shopping?
My T400 has both integrated and discrete graphics - "switchable".

GX70 Disable integrated graphics?
Did some googling for ways to disable the 8650 on board graphics and some sources pointed towards BIOS, I had a look around in there and didn't see any such option.
Is there a way to turn off integrated graphics, I use my laptop plugged in 99% of the time so power consumption isn't an issue. I am applying for a beta and they want my dxdiag uploaded, would rather my dxidiag show my dedicated graphics however it is showing the integrated one instead.
Any solutions I am missing?
Thanks in advance.Quote from: Terranos on 11-December-14, 06:11:06
Ok, thanks.
Is there a way to confirm which graphics is being used by which application?
I know you can configure switchable graphics, but is there any way to confirm that the didicated GPU is being used by a game?
you can see it by power button if it's blue then it's using intel one if it's orange it's using nvidia one blue can be white as well depending on laptop. -
T410 i3, integrated graphics, 1080p playback
Hey guys,
Sorry if this seems to be a topic that pops up over and over on the internet. I've been digging around a lot and have failed to find any definite answers to this question. It seems like some review sites are saying that the T410 has no problem with 1080p playback but doesn't specify the exact specifications for the machines tested for video playback. There is also a guy on youtube who posted a video review of 720p and 1080p playback from a T410 i3 integrated and says that video playback was fine for 720 but choppy for 1080; however, when peopel recommended coreAVC, no response was given.
Can anyone here give me their experience with 1080p playback with integrated graphics on a T410?
And also another quick question, I'm aware that the displayport to hdmi will carry audio as well, but for the video, does it carry the raw HD content, or is it scaled down.
Thanks very much indeed!1. The T410 with i3 CPU runs the 1080p playback fine, whether or not it is choppy depends on the quality of the encoding and what player is used. The integrated GPU is designed for hardware decoding of the 1080p videos in Blu-ray.
2. The displayport will carry the specific video size that you specify in the windows. It can support WQXGA resolution. But if you specify the output to 1920 x 1080 then it would do so at that resolution.

Jin Li

Repeated error from Intel integrated Graphics card in my brand-new B320
Hi
I am getting repeated errors from the Intel Integrated Graphics card (on the Intel i3 chip as I understand it) in my brand-new B320.
I checked via a tool from Intel that my drivers were up-to-date (version 15.22.1.2361).
I checked via Device Manager Update Drivers that my driver was up-to-date.
I attempted to uninstall and re-install my driver BUT the uninstall reverted me to a VGA Adapter (so my screen was then running in a low res 800x600 mode!) and I could not even then see the Intel Integrated Graphics card in Device Manager to be able to re-install the driver against (even if I ran scan for new hardware): I had to restore to a System Restore Point - so the problem has of course come back.
I have even had one error where the screen then went completely blank and nothing would bring it back: I had to power off the PC (Ouch!)
PLEASE advise how I rectify this incredibly frustrating problem step-by-step.hey johnestlea,
i was going through the download list of the B320 here : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=156819
And could not find any driver with the version 15.22.1.2361 for the Intel Integrated Graphic Card. Where did you get that version ?

S10 integrated graphic chipset ?
Hello, I'm about to puchase an S10 and I wonder if the motherboard integrate any basic graphic controler (like an intel gma 950 for instance) ?
This would allow to boot and start configuring the S10 without any PCIe card.
Thanks !

neither of the ThinkStation models have integrated graphics. they will always need a PCI-e x16 graphics card to display video.

Hi, I have a Thinkpad T410. I bought it with integrated graphics card. Now i want to upgrade to the other one: Graphics: NVIDIA NVS 3100M with 256MB DDR3. Is that possible? thanks a lot
You'd have to replace the motherboard.
A better solution would probably be to get an eGPU; it's way way way faster.

Satellite Pro L300 - OpenGL 2.0 support for Intel Integrated Graphics
Just want to share the news that I was able to install the new Intel Chipset drivers that add OpenGL 2.0 support to their integrated graphics chips, such as the X3100.
This driver was released in December 2008 and even though Intel recommends waiting for OEM versions from Toshiba, I decided to try theirs.

Maybe someone will try the exe file installation and report back -
I followed the manual installation instructions and for now everything works fine.
Message was editedHi mate
First of all thanks a lot
Ive got a U400 and I have installed a Intel graphic card driver from the Intel page too.
I didnt execute the exe file but I updated my driver in device manager.
This worked fine.
Also I read here in the forum that drivers from external pages can be used only at the own risk because such drivers are not tested and not certified by Toshiba
However, my U400 run trouble free till now. -
Photoshop crashing when my 3rd monitor is on (3rd monitor uses Integrated Graphics)
So as I said in the title, when my third monitor is on (which is hooked up to my i5's integrated graphics photoshop crashes a lot. When I go to my Device Manager and disable it, photoshop workes flawlessly.
My main videocard is a Radeon 6970 2gb, so it has no problems running photoshop alone. The processor seems to just get in the way. Any way around this?If you read Adobe Site about GPU support you will read you can not mix display adapters. It is posible to hook all three of your displays to your 6970.
