T500 Laptop Model 2242-CT0 - Integrated Camera No Longer Shows in Devices

Laptop is about 14 months old. Integrated camera was working fine.  I was using Skype the other day & it could not find the camera. I went into Devices & uninstalled the driver. Then the camera disappeared from Devices altogether.
I downloaded/installed the latest driver for the camera:  version 1.32.500.0 (7tca23ww.exe), rebooted, but the device list still does not show in devices (yes-"Show Hidden" is selected).
Running Win 7 64 bit.
Latest updates for windows are installed.   I periodically get an error message popping up that "Device driver failed install", but that's it.
Attempts to run hdwwiz to install the camera were not successful, as I do not see any "Camera" listed under the Ricoh drivers section.

Hi HLemieux,
I researched your issue and this is what I found from the Lenovo Assisted Search:
"If your webcam on your laptop is not working, try these following steps:
1. Be sure your webcam driver is installed. (It can be found at http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ot/en/DriversDownLoads/Drivers.html)
2. By checking the webcam if it is disabled by Fn+Esc.
If you see the cross line on the webcam sign press to Fn+Esc to enable the webcam.
3. If you do not see the webcam sign on the right corner of display after pressing Fn+Esc, be sure your Energy Management is installed. (It can be found at http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ot/en/DriversDownLoads/Drivers.html)
After you download the Energy Management driver from Lenovo Website, install the software.
During energy management installation if you see the window as below “Utility” must be selected for Fn hot-key application (Utility is a software package under EM)
4. After installation of Energy Management please perform step 2 to enable Webcam if it is disabled."
Try this and let us know how it works for you.

  • Thinkpad T540 (win8) Integrated Camera no longer works

    Hi guys,
I got my Thinkpad T540 several month ago and found the integrated camera did not work and I brought to a warranty center. They came up with a cause of virus instead of hardware problem, even if they stated they changed a new camera for me. After that in a couple of weeks, the camera seems to be ok, at least I used it for twice. However, recently, it stopped working again. I have no idea what's going on. It should not be a virus, as I installed anti-virus software and firewall and scanned my computer but nothing warnned.
    Dose anyone have solution?

Here is what I did to fix this for my machine.  I had the same symptoms.
Install most current "lenovo settings" software
After install you need to reboot your machine:
After reboot please open Lenovo settings:
    Then click on Camera:
Next click on "NORMAL"  *NOTE: BY DEFAULT SOMETHING SETS THE CAMERA TO PRIVATE.
Once I clicked on "NORMAL" the camera started working.
Please let me know if this helps.
    Thanks

  • Built in iSight camera no longer showing up or recognized by iMac

Hello there - I have a white 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with a built in iSight camera, and the camera is no longer showing up, or is not recognized by the computer any longer. Very strange! The little green LED by the camera is not lit any longer, and the camera is not recognized any longer by Photo Booth, iChat AV, or any of the other apps that would use the camera. This is a real pain, because I am leaving for France in a couple days and am taking my MacBook Pro with me, and am hoping that I can use iChat AV to talk to my kids at home on the iMac. I do have an extra iSight camera that I have hooked up to the iMac and can use in a pinch, but I really want to use the built in camera on the iMac. Any hints / ideas / suggestions on what to do for this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No, unfortunately that did not help. I did the following...
    1. See if the issue is application-specific. - Nope. Camera is not recognized in any of the apps that it should be recognized in, I tested iChat AV, PhotoBooth, ImageCapture, and iMovie.
    2. See if the issue is user-specific. - There's only one user account on this Mac, so I couldn't do that.
    3. Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight. I went into System Profiler and checked the USB profiler, and the camera does not show up.
    4. Reset SMC or PMU. These just looked like different ways of restarting, which I did multiple times.
I have also run my Software Updates (on OS 10.5, which I did with a clean install from an OS 10.5 DVD by the way) and still no camera. This problem started happening with the original OS 10.4 (which it came with) and I was hoping a clean install of the OS would help, but no.
I'm wondering if resetting the PRAM might help, but I can't remember those keys you hold down while restarting (was it Apple-Option-P-R ?) or if that is just reaching waaaaay back to the pre OSX days.
Here's the kicker though - if I plug in a FireWire iSight camera, all is well. I'm really hoping that the camera isn't jsut dead, but it's starting to look that way. Would Disk First Aid or maybe DiskWarrior help?

  • Thinkpad T530 Integrated Camera no longer works

Hi, I bought my ThinkPad T530 laptop in August of this year and about a month ago I used the Lenovo ThinkVantage updater and it updated the driver for my web cam. Ever since then it has stopped working.
Whenever I open the web conferencing menu, it only shows options for the microphone, and nothing for the camera. I have tried hitting Fn+F6 and accessing it via other software e.g. Skype, Oovoo, Picasa. And they say that my webcam cannot be detected.
When I checked for the webcam in device manager  it said it was installed and working properly, and that the driver was up to date. I went to the lenovo website and downloaded the driver for the camera from there (g1ca16ww) and tried to update the driver manually hoping that that would fix the problem. Alas, it did not. I also checked the BIOS settings to make sure that the camera was enabled. It was. So then I tried to reinstall the driver by uninstalling it, and using the driver I downloaded from the Lenovo website to reinstall. It installed properly, but now the webcam is no longer listed in the hardware manager and the dropdown for Imaging Devices, where it was located before, is no longer visible. I also rechecked the BIOS menu to make sure the camera was still listed there and it is. I do not know why it isn't working. Does anyone know how to fix it? I have also tried system restore and that didn't work either, the device still isn't listed. I don't want to have to wipe my computer. Please help.

  • Video camera no longer showing up

Have a Panisonic DV cam that was working ok on my G5 1.8GHz. Can't remember exactly when it stopped working, before or after Leopard install. System Profiler correctly identifies the camera as a FW device when it's plugged in.
Also have a Mac Mini running Leopard that sees the camera ok. I'm thinking this might be a firewire driver conflict as I have other devices, including an external audio card built-in to my CME keyboard.
But before I go getting rid of my fw drivers, thought I'd see if anyone had other suggestions. The only fw devices used are a WD Mybook drive, the CME soundcard, and the DV cam.

I actually found a number of my videos in iPhoto and have created a new folder on desktop. I have moved the clips there and backup things up using Time Capsule. I know that many people may think that Time Capsule is antiquated and they're using iCloud. For those of us that don't use iCloud for photos, etc. I think you need to have a folder of items on your desktop in order to be saved in Time Capsule. Just thought I's share my experience and prevent others from troubles.
I just don't understand why items (that previously existed in iMovie) are no longer appearing due to Yosemite upgrade.

  • Camera No Longer Shows Up On Finder after 10.9.3

    P.S.  It worked with 10.9.2

    UPDATE

Finder Preferences does have external drive checked marked.

  • Camera no longer shows as drive in IPhoto

    hello,
I have succesfully downloaded over the past 2 years over 4000 photos from my Nikon D50. Now all of a sudden the D50 no longer shows up automatically as a drive in IPhoto when I plug it in, and does not do an automatic updated download. The D50 drive does show up in Finder fine. Anyone have any ideas why this has started happening?
    Thanks

Imac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Airport Extreme

Just an FYI - I solved this myself by backing up all my data and reinstalling Mac OS X 10.4. I suspect my iMac got hit by a very quick and sudden power outage/spike, and despite having an advanced surge protector I think my OS got corrupted slightly. So rinstalling OS X solved it (at recomendatio of local Mac Dealer)

    Hi AnchorsT,
Were there any upgrades done to the system recently?

  • W510 Integrated Camera Doesn't Work

I've got a W510 43192NU and upon receiving it I replaced the 32 bit OS with 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate.  I had to go grab the camera driver from their website but initially everything was working ok.  I was having issues with my blue USB 3.0 ports, so I tried to upgrade the firmware of the USB 3.0 controller which worked perfectly, except for the minor problem that my integrated camera no longer works.
I contacted support and they were pretty dumbfounded and the only suggestion they had for me was to do a fresh install of Windows.  This was probably about 6-7 weeks ago, I hadn't had an opportunity till tonight to try their recommended solution.  I decided to take a day off of work and get this camera thing straightened out, as I'm starting to need to do video conferences more frequently.
Lo and behold after doing a full reinstall of the OS, and installing the minimal drivers necesarry, I still have the same problem with the webcam.  The driver looks like its installing ok, but doesn't actually run to completion and ask me to restart.  My co workers that also have the exact same model don't have any issues with their machines, but they also haven't installed the updated firmware for the USB 3.0 controller.
Has anyone else had this problem and been able to find a resolution?  Is anyone aware of any way to downgrade the firmware on my USB 3.0 controller so I can get my webcam back?
Thanx in advance for any help/suggestions.

I have a similar recurring problem; my camera keeps dying. Every program I run sees it fine and says it's working, but I never get anything but a blank screen. I sent the laptop (a W510 as well) in for repairs and they replaced the mobo and that fixed the problem for a while, but now it's happening again. I feel like it must be something I'm doing, but I don't know how that could be if replacing hardware would fix it temporarily.

  • T500 Integrated Camera Issues

I have a brand new T500 with Vista Business 32 bit installed. The laptop came with an integrated camera. The camera appears in the device manager as working properly. However, when I go to control panel => scanners and cameras the camera doesn't appear in the list. I proceed to select Add Device where the camera is still undetected. I downloaded the most recent drivers from IBM's site and attempted the "have disk" method browsing and selecting the recently downloaded driver where it never lists a device that I'm able to install. Please help!

I'm not sure why, but I think this is normal.  On my computer, when I set up Skype it found the camera right away, but it didn't show in the Control Panel Scanners & Cameras.

  • T500 Win7 64 bit Integrated Camera Not Working

I have a T500 64 bit with Win7 Pro. The integrated camera in the device manager has the following error:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
I have installed the latest driver from the Lenovo site:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70600.html
And made sure after I installed this driver, the version in device manager is the same: 1.32.500.0
I have also installed Yawcam but it says no device selected when I launch it. It doesnt detect the integrated camera.
    Please help in resolving this.
    Thanks,
    Mazen

did not correct the issue for me, nor did instally easy capture as suggested elsewhere on this site... the key combo Fn-F6 has no effect the only key combination that does anything is Fn-PgUp which only turns on the camera light. Attempting to install the driver for the integrated camera fails silently (dies before completely installing without notice) so I am at a loss, I have been trying to get this working off & on for about 31/2 months to no avail and am about to give up and deal with a USB solution.

  • E430c laptop can't read driver for integrated camera

    Hi Everyone,
I have a Thinkpad Edge E430c running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and it can't find my integrated camera.
I've downloaded the driver from here http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds028647
When I click through to install, a warning pop up with the words "No Appropriate Driver to be installed".
I've tried clicking on the setup and it says "Can not find the device, Abort install!"
The camera doesn't appear on the list in Device Manager.
I've tried downloading the driver again and rebooting to no avail. I've been trying to solve this problem for many hours, and would appreciate any help.
Tired and close to giving up,

Good day and welcome to the community.
    Sorry you're having difficulties.
One thing to check... Boot into your BIOS, select the Security tab, select I/O Port Access and verify that the Integrated Camera is Enabled. Note that the screens/labels may be slightly different, though, as I'm looking at screenshots of the E420 BIOS.

  • T500 Laptop Switchable Graphics Aren't Working

Well, I just got my T500 Laptop today and when I started it, It went through all the normal steps. Once I installed a few updates (like 20 of 'em) I really wanted to test out this switchable graphics thing. I went to personalization and then display settings, and it showed thatI was Using thinkpad display ATI Radeon HD 3650. I wanted to switch to the Intel GPU so i think I dragged the monitor that said 4 (which was the intel one) on top of 1 (the ati GPU) and It said Do you want to enable this monitor and I said yes. It never switched to the intel chip though. Once I restarted the computer after a few more updates, When I went to display settings again, Only 2 out of the original 4 monitors where there and the ATI ones were all gone and now I can't switch back to ATI graphics. Also, I tried left clicking on the vertical battery thing for switching graphics but it didn't work either.

If you updated to the latest power manager and video drivers, then this may be required:
Restart computer -> go into BIOS and select Discrete graphics only. Let windows start and re-install the drivers. Did another restart to ensure functionality. Then I went back to the BIOS and selected Integrated only. I let windows start, and again it had to re-install the drivers. Once this was done, I entered the BIOS again and put the display to OS detect function and booted windows normally. Thinking I had it fixed, I left clicked on the power manager icon and the switchable option still was not there. At this point I was getting pretty furious because Lenovo updates are generally solid. So I right clicked and found it near the top (see screen shot).
