T500 making annoying sound related to screen activity

My new T500 (model 2082-9HG) apparently causes a strange cricket-like high-pitched computer-sound everytime something changes on the screen. It's pretty loud and chirpy at times. Seems to come from somewhere under the [Insert] button or maybe even from the right-channel speaker but I did not trace it with a directional microphone yet.
I was wondering if this is normal, and if and how it can be eliminated. I'm prepared to open the T500 myself, if that is what is required. I'm not  prepared to send it away for this, because I don't expect Lenovo to 'solve' this, since it seems hardware-related. They probably used cheap parts or bad shielding somewhere in the T500 and I doubt they will admit to such fault in their design.
I've 'denoised' ans silenced strange noisy computer-electronics before, using foam and kit and glue and such things, but perhaps a manual for this particular noise-source already exists. Can't imagine being the only or first one with this complaint.
Any and all info on this highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I don't have that issue so I can't hear it at all. Of course mines a 2081-CTO from last year, which could explain why. The only time my system beeps is in a BIOS, doing something wrong, when the power is low or when I'm connecting my power cable to it.
Odds are, IT IS cheap parts that's causing the problem.

Probably is. They get dusty. Shut down your computer and clean it out with a vacuum (don't blow dust back inside).

  • My iphone 4 started making a sound like "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does it at least once a day.  I've reset my phone, used icloud to restore, and it made the sound again upon startup.  Help!  This is so annoying.

My iphone 4 started making a sound like a "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does this at least once a day.  It started about a month ago.  Anyone got any ideas?

Mine does this also, seemingly randomly several times throughout the day.  I do not have this sound as any of my alerts and it does not seem to denote anything like a message, reminder, etc.  I do have "Trapster" on my phone and I went in and tweaked the settings there.  Will repost if that has any efect.

  • ITunes 8 annoying sound

Does anyone know if and how you can turn off that annoying sound that plays whenever you do anything on itunes 8? If there isn't any way. PLEASE MAKE ONE APPLE! For the sanity of every iTunes lover. Having said that, best iTunes ever. Genius is absolutly amazing!

Hmm. I have Vista 64 Home Premium SP1. I'll post more detailed info on my system after work. But for now..
*The box is home built with an OEM version Vista 64 Home Premium installed
    *UAC is on
*Windows Firewall is on (network related.. maybe?)
*Speech recognition is on (I don't use a screen reader but I do use speech recognition. Could it have activated some element of the new screen reader accessibility stuff???)
I can't find any default 'chime' sound in Windows that sounds the same. It is unique to iTunes.
    Any other ideas?

  • IPad is not making any sounds except for itunes, Pandora and Netflix. Need help.

From one day to another the iPad is not making any sounds (lock, keyboard, games) except for music on iTunes, Pandora and video on Netflix. All sounds are activated on the iPad's general settings. I have synced it and updated the OS to no avail. Any help or suggestions is gratly appreciated.

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Touch screen active when bluetooth device connects. help!!!

Hi had my z2 for about a month now, very pleased with it so far but there is one issue i keep finding that i have narrowed down.
I keep finding my phone will do random things in my pocket when out  and its really frustrating i had tried changing lots of settings todo with the screen as i thought it was when i got a notification it would wake the phone and my leg would simulate screen presses.
That isnt the case however. I have narrowd it down to when i get in my car and the bluetooth connects to my car radio it makes the touch screen active, the screen does not light up but if you touch it as it connects it will wake the phone.
Has anyone heard of this or have a solution (please dont say turn bluetooth off)
its really annoying me and spoils a otherwise almost perfect phone.
    Thank you
    FU5I0N uk

The only other thing you can do is change the lock screen security as Swipe to unlock and attatching a bluetooth device like in your car will unlock the phones lock screen

  • How to capture screen activity? (screen&audio to video file)

    Hello,
I have to capture video desktop activity (including audio) to a file using JMF. I spent hours and hours searching this... a have studied a lot of classes, examples BUT I don't know how to bind them... how to record the actvity. My project is to record screen activity, upload on a server and finally control my computer remotely from an applet (or from another java desktop application). I will use HTTP streaming (what I record I upload on a server, then stream it to the client)
Can someone show me some hints or code for modifying JVidCap example from Sun? Someone else on Sun forum said he could do it but did not say how...
I just want to modify the video capturing so that I get the screen actifity recorded. I read nearly all examples possible including Screen Grabber...
    Please help me!
I also have those two classes to get the screen activity as datasource... from [Screen Grabber|http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/ScreenGrabber.html] example but I really don't understand how to implement them in my application because there is no method returning a datasource object... (or probably I don't know how to use them):
    (DataSource and LiveStream class)
I hope someone can bind them or help me to go on on this project.... it is so important to me ...

Thanks A LOT for info. I really apprectiate it. This is my code... many mistakes I think... I have a NullPointerException. I renamed DataSource class to CDataSource and instead of line: "stream = streams[0] = new LiveStream(getLocator());" I passed the media locator:"stream = streams[0] = new LiveStream(ml);"

  • IMac CRT making POP sounds

my bondi blue iMac is making loud popping sounds, and the screen is flickering..
it is completely random, even though i am expecting it to do it, it always scares me everytime it does it...
is this thing going to explode, catch fire? it has never been opened, or anything...
please help, this was my first USB based Mac!!!

That sounds just like symptoms of Flyback Transformer (FBT) failure. A very common problem in early, tray-loading iMacs.
You can fix it yourself, if you are comfortable working around HIGH VOLTAGE. Look here - MacOpz Flyback Transformer repair.
It may be best to either a) connect an external monitor to the iMac, or b) take the hard drive out, as your data should still be safe.
    Good luck,

  • [partially fixed] Firefox3.6 annoying sound when I click a bookmark.

The annoying sound started happening with the 3.6 update. It happens when I click any bookmark, or menu item. How do I turn this off? I've checked out about:config and set
    accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound
    liberator.saved.accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound
    both to false.
    Any help would be appreciated

I guess I will hold out on upgrading until I see this resolved. This is exactly the kind of thing that I want to avoid with Arch. Having unwanted sounds is especially bad when you don't run a sound server and therefore can only have one sound-making program at a time.
    BTW, does adding:
    gtk-event-enable-sounds=0
to ~/.gtkrc kill the sounds? This will disable GTK sounds globally though (which may be wanted ). Firefox really shouldn't make sounds by default though!
    Editing ~/.gtkrc-2.0
and adding the following line to it:
    gtk-enable-event-sounds=0
and then restarting ff3.6 DOES turn the sound off, but it will turn off sound for ALL gtk apps.

  • Subtle noise when scrolling, moving mouse, other screen activity

Let me say up front: this is *not* about fan noise. I know what fan noise is; I hear it like everyone else; this is something else.
The noise I am posting about is hard to describe, but it comes fairly close to classic hard drive noise but it can't be that in this case because my X220 has an SSD.
The noise occurs when I scroll in a window, or move the mouse across the screen. It is definitely associated with screen activity.
I would love to know what it is. I have it on another laptop as well (ThinkPad T61P).

I also noticed this noise and am curious as to what the sounds actually is. I can't imagine the CPU gets scaled each time the mouse moves a tenth of a milimeter.

  • What is my iphone making a sound (like a turn on sound) when I turn it on....never happened before!!!  How do I turn off this sound?

Not sure whats going on today...why is my Iphone making a sound when I turn it on...like a beep noise...it never happened before...how can I turn it off???

Does a Reset work? Mostly unlikely! [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • Screen-active and screen-invisible

    Hi all,
What is the difference between screen-active and screen-invisible as both are used in making the selection screen parameter invisible.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi all,
i have worked with both screen-active and screen-invisible.  Below are the sample code where both of them are giving the same output. So i dont understand how the two can be used differently.
    Using Screen-active
    REPORT  zdemo_test.
    PARAMETERS: p_pernr1 TYPE pernr_d,
    p_pernr2 TYPE pernr_d.
    PARAMETERS: rd1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP g1 DEFAULT 'X' USER-COMMAND abc,
    rd2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP g1 .
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.
    IF  rd1 EQ 'X'.
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
    IF screen-name = 'P_PERNR1'.
    screen-active = '0'.
    MODIFY SCREEN.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    ELSEIF rd2 EQ 'X'.
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
    IF screen-name = 'P_PERNR2'.
    screen-active = '0'.
    MODIFY SCREEN.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    ENDIF.
    Using screen-invisible and screen-input
    REPORT  zdemo_test.
    PARAMETERS: p_pernr1 TYPE pernr_d,
    p_pernr2 TYPE pernr_d.
    PARAMETERS: rd1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP g1 DEFAULT 'X' USER-COMMAND abc,
    rd2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP g1 .
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.
    IF  rd1 EQ 'X'.
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
    IF screen-name = 'P_PERNR1'.
    screen-invisible = '1'.
    screen-input = '0'.
    MODIFY SCREEN.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    ELSEIF rd2 EQ 'X'.
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
    IF screen-name = 'P_PERNR2'.
    screen-invisible = '1'.

  • My iPad makes a high low high tune every fifteen to twenty minutes, anyone know of this and have a fix for this annoying sound.

My iPad makes a high low high tune every fifteen to twenty minutes, anyone know of this and have a fix for this annoying sound.

    I Also have this problem!!
In my situation, the screen simply started exhibiting the same symptoms a few weeks ago (early February) for no apparent reason.  At first I thought the screen was dead, but discovered the heat solution by accident.  Now I turn it on and keep it from going to sleep until I go to bed.  Thank goodness the battery is still awesome on this thing.
I bought it new and still has the original screen, I keep it at home (never below 62 degrees).  Coincidentally, this happened a day or two after the expiration of the warranty!!  Any help figuring this one out would be eternally appreciated.

  • 'Charger unplugged. Tap ok to stop this annoying sound'....

Last night I plugged my Q10 in and suddenly it starts wailing like a siren.... I look at the phone and see the message 'Charger unplugged/. Tap ok to stop this annoying sound'... Thing is, the charger was NOT unplugged and I have NO IDEA what is making this noise...
SAME thing happened again just now when I plugged it into my work computer...
Is this a virus?? is that even possible? I haven't downloaded any new apps or anything..
    Quite confused.

That alert is alarming. I had it go off for a severe weather alert and the office started to clear out as it was same sound for the building alert to exit. Didn't know about it and took me a few seconds to tap it out and corral the office mates who were abandoning ship. I thought that alert for the charger was an app designed to alert you if someone tries to pinch your phone while it is on charger and then taken off without your knowledge. Sounds like your phone is malfunctioning for this alert. Dunno the fix other than tapping, maybe someone else will chime in.

  • My notifications arent making a sound or alerting me

my notifications arent making a sound when i get a text or a snap chat or any other of my apps the only way i get to see them is if i physically go into my apps or my messages and its annoying me please help me.

        Hi tmattos,
We want to figure out what's going on with these alerts and ensure they're working. Can you verify if the alert set is the same audio for both? Have you tested setting a different tone? Does music or other audio work fine on the phone when using speaker? We want to confirm if it may be a setting or all audio. Thank you for the details of what's been testing.
