T500 + Service Agreement = No Windows 7
With the future release of the Windows 7, I am as eager as the next to get my own copy. Unfortunately, with a call to your customer service, I was told the only way I could do this would be to purchase an upgrade from Microsoft.
Here are the problems as I see them...
1. Windows Vista has been heralded by many as a buggy operating system. Windows 7 is suppose to remedy this.
2. I have a 2 year service agreement, yet I am not entitled to an OS upgrade on a faulty system.
3. If I upgrade to Windows 7 and I need to make use of my service agreement, there is a possibility my operating system may be reset to the factory default i.e. Vista. I would once again need to perform the grueling task of migrating to Windows 7. This would be a waste of my time and the service agreement a waste of money.
4. No options for loyal Lenovo customers to upgrade to Windows 7 and get their updated factory default disks specific to their system.
If you think strategically, I am more likely to purchase a new computer before anyone within the before mentioned time frame. With that being said, why would I invest in another Lenovo product if this is the way you treat your customers.

Because Microsoft controls the licensing of their products, not Lenovo or Dell or HP or Sony or any other hardware manufacturer?

Terms of Service Agreement...Interminably!
I have adobe air installed (apparently) but whenever I try to run an Air program, all I get is the Terms of Service Agreement--I accept...and nothing happens. WTF?
I have exactly the same problem described by jamesarmstrong. When I click on the application, that requires Air, the Air EULA opens, I click "Accept" and Air closes. I am running Windows 7. I have uninstalled both Air and the application at least twice. I do have the eulaAccepted file. when I open it with Notepad I only see the character "2". The one you posted has the character "3" when I open it. My version of Air is 3.1.0.4880. My Install.log is listed below.

Windows Search Service Crashes on Windows Server 2012 R2
Hi,
I'm running Windows Search service on a Windows Server 2012 R2 (24GB RAM, 8-core proc). The index catalog has a little over 2 million items (files and folders indexed).
Every once in a while this service crashes, and either remains in limbo or automatically recovers and restarts the index from zero. I'm trying to find out information about what may be causing the crashes and about how to prevent them. Unfortunately, I don't
seem to be able to find much about the Windows Search service on Windows Server 2012 R2. So anyone who may have input on this, please chip in.
Additional info:
- As mentioned above, the server OS is Windows Server 2012 R2. This is a physical server with 24GB RAM, 8-core proc and over 2TB of storage.
- This server acts as a DC and as a File Server. In addition to this and Windows Search service, there are no other major services running here
- Symantec Endpoing protection is installed and running on this server, but I've made sure to exclude the Window Search database from SEP

To resolve this problem, use the Registry Editor to change the default timeout value for all services.

Windows Firewall Service Crashes on Windows Server 2012
Hello Team,
I am facing issues with Windows Firewall Service in new Windows 2012 R2 deployments. when i try to start the Firewall service it wont start and it throws an error message to check the system event logs for information
The Windows Firewall service terminated with the following service-specific error:
The data is invalid.
I deployed this OS on a VM running with latest VM tools and HW version which is running on ESXi 5.1 U1
2 GB RAM, 1 vCPU
OS deployed through ISO downloaded from MS portal and License activated through KMS system, performed a couple of reboots as well.
any advise on this issue? i am sure some of you might have also faced the same issue1. VMware support forum and knowledge base may give you more specific advice.
2. Windows services may be dependent on another service(s). Analyze these dependences. Do it after you understand implications of VMware firewall function.
3. More detailed info from Event log is needed for analysis (Event ID, etc)
4. Hope you have connectivity configured correctly.

How many times can I extend warranty (Thinkplus Extended Service Agreement)?
I have a T60, which came with an original 3-year warranty. Before the warranty expired in August 2009, I purchased Thinkplus extended service for 1 year (41C9279) for $199, which expires in August 2010. Can I purchase additional Thinkplus extended service for 1-2 more years before the August 2010 expiry date?
Lenovo still offers 1 and 2-year post-warranty services for my T60 (2007-C2U model), as this link states:

But I read somewhere that the warranty can only be extended once. Does that mean I cannot purchase more extended service agreements? And if I can, does the Thinkplus extended service also apply internationally, if the original warranty was eligible for international warranty?

As for extending warranty for another year, give Lenovo a call and check first hand. The rule of the thumb is that the machine can't be under warranty for longer than five years of the original purchase date, at least to my knowledge.

Connect Azure Pack to Service Bus for Windows Server with Custom DNS
Hello! I'm trying to configure Azure Pack to use Service Bus for Windows Server 1.1 with Custom DNS.
All runs on one virtual machine (Windows Server 2012 R2) in Windows Azure.
I following this post:

Replace FramDNS "servicebus" to "mymachine.cloudapp.net", and create certificate:
SelfSSL /N:CN=mymachine.cloudapp.net /V:1000 /T
On Windows Azure Virtual Machine:
1.I'll set publuc DNS: mymachine.cloudapp.net
2.Open ports: 10354,10355,10356,10359,10000-10004
3.In hosts file: 127.0.0.1 mymachine.cloudapp.net
4.Create certificate:
SelfSSL /N:CN=mymachine.cloudapp.net /V:1000 /T
PowerShell:
Stop-SBFarm –Verbose
Set-SBFarm -FarmDns 'mymachine.cloudapp.net'
Update-SBHost –Verbose
Start-SBFarm –Verbose

It's work perfect. But, When I try to create Service Bus Namespace from Azure Pack Tenant portal - in Log an Exception:

And status of namespace - Activating.

According to the log, it seems that the validation process of the certificate failed.
Please make sure that the certificate is installed in the client properly.
Usually, self-signed certificate should be installed in the Computer Account-->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities.

Shared services as a windows service
Has anyone had a problem getting shared services to work as a windows service in system 9. Everything works fine when i start shared services from the programs menu but nothigng works when i try to run shared services as a windows service. I try to go to the user management console and it will sit there for a few minutes and then display a page cannot be found message. I have changed the default JVM memory settings as specified in the documentation. The provider service seems to be working as i dont have to change anything to get shared services to work from the programs menu. What am I missing?
I think i have it working correctly now. I changed the service to run under the credentials of the user i granted access to the database rather than the local system and it seems to have started however i have not rebooted the server yet to find out if everything will work.

Create Service Agreement - In Status field, "Release" is not appearing.

I am creating a simple Service Agreement in CRM Web UI. Entered all data required like Customer, product, org details, price discount etc.. and tried to "release" before saving.
In the Status field "Release" option is not there to select. I see only "In Process" and "Completed".
Can anybody tell me how to make 'Release' available, so that I can release the document and save it.
The price is not determined for the product. Could that be the reason?
The document is error free as I don't see errors in App log.
Please give me and idea to resolve. Will be generous in giving points.

Thank you for your response. Here is the following steps I did:
1. Status profile is CRMORDER
2. In this status profile, I see the following: Open with status No.10
In Process - 20
Completed - 30
Rejected - 40
3. I added a new entry for Released with status number: 50
4. I have taken care of the Lowest and Highest Limits.
5. I also checked the 'Object Type' as 'Agreement'
Now, I am not clear which Business Trans I should assign. In the drop down list, I see many Bus.Trans for 'Release'
such as APRL - Release / CALL - Release / CREL - Release and so on.
My question is, which one of these should I select. I tried couple of them, it did not work. (Release still not appearing on CRM7.0 Web UI)
Currently, I am trying to release a Service Agreement on the Web UI. I played around with lowest and highest limits a couple of times and it changes accordingly in Web UI. But some reason 'Release' is not visible which carries the status No.50.
I wonder what is going wrong. Any help would be well appreciated with generous points.

Service Ticket SLA with Service Agreement

we have a requirment where we need to create service tickets with reference to service agreement. As per the doucmentation, service agreements can be created based on sold to party BP or BP type. We are planning to use with BP Type as we dont want to maintain at every BP level. Now the issue is, i dont have sales org data maintained at all sold-to party level. we have thousands of existing customers and maintaining their sales area data now is gonig to be difficult task.
Is there any alternate way to create Service ticket with reference SLA? is it possbile to determine SLA information purely based on BP type and organization info provided in service agreement (without going to sales area of the corresponding BP)
another question: if i create a copy of standard OAS service agreement and remove the org determination for sales org, will it work? Does the SLA determination still happens from service ticket?
i dont think service contracts work in thsi scenario either.
any details steps in this aspect would be greatly appriciated and rewared.

If you use service request instead of service ticket you will be able to use a SLA determination procedure in the customizing of servicerequest.
This is quiet usefull - we changed from ticket to servicerequest.

Billing Plan and Promotions for Service Agreements
Hello Friends,
We have a requirement here, that we want to sell a 1 Yr Service Agreement (Price of $1200) on a promotion who ever buys this service agreement will not be billed till three months (for evaluation purpose) and say if they like it and want to continue with this agreement then on the begining of the Fourth month they will be billed for the remaining portion of the service agreement ( i.e. $900). in a way that means they will get a 25% discount on this service agreement and remember the bill will be only one time i.e. in the fourth month for an amount of $900 and also this promotion should last only till the end of this year.
Any thoughts on how we can configure for this, your help

ThanksYou will require two service contract document types. The first (say contract type SC) which uses milestone billing and the other (say ZC) which uses periodic billing.
The second one should be generated as a follow up action of the first at the end of the first year.
Ensure that the milestone billing allows you to bill 25% in the first installment. You can ofcourse block this one. The second one should allow you to bill 75%. This will not be blocked.
If the customer does not terminate the contract during the first quarter you bill the customer for the second billing item.
Once this contract has ended you can create another contract which will use the periodic billing which is simple quarterly billing which is what I think u require.
Next, the item category is an area you might have to think on. You may be able to create the same contract type if u can create the same material with a different item category so that in the same document type u can create first an item with milestone billing and the second with periodic.
Most probably this will meet your requirement. Please vet this with the FI/CO guys to check how it reflects their G/L accounts.
