T500 Win 7 pro 64-bit drivers - hard drive device driver filename?

Hi,
I recently started an upgrade path with my T500.
I purchase a new 500GB western digital drive.
Now I need to gather all the win 7 pro 64-bit drivers for my T500.
I started the install of win 7 pro to see how far I could get, not far ... I am stuck currently searching for the proper device drive for my mass storage (which is NOT partitioned either - ideas on how to do that or should the win install program program give an option once I have the right driver(s)?)
Do you know what the proper T500 win 7 pro 64-bit driver is I need?  I have tried a few with no luck yet.
Fun fun fun ...
Thank you.

You shouldn't need any additional drivers to do an install of Win 7 on your T500.  You might add drivers later, but the Win 7 installer should get the initial install done without adding anything.  It certainly did on my T400.
You might try setting the BIOS AHCI setting back to SATA (or whatever the non-compatibility mode is called.)  That shouldn't be necessary either, but it's worth a shot.  For that matter, just do a reset of your BIOS and try from there.
BTW, once you have Windows installed, also install ThinkVantage System Update and use that to pull down the drivers and apps for your machine.

  • Windows 7 RC installation on MacBook Pro: 'DVD drive device driver missing'

I'm trying to install the Windows 7 RC on my unibody MacBook Pro (purchased november 2008). I create the partition in Boot Camp, insert the install DVD, and restart the system. Then the Windows setup starts as it's supposed to (Windows is loading files). The install program launches fine, and I get to choose language settings.
And now it all fails. After I've chosen language settings, I get the message: "A required CD(DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
    Screenshot of the message: http://img25.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00102yyh.jpg
I'm kinda baffled by this message. Obviously the drive can be use by the install program, but it still complains of a missing driver. I had no trouble installing the Windows 7 beta earlier this year.
I've done some googling, and it appears to be problem experienced by some others. Someone had the issue on an Asus machine (I think), and the solution was to download the driver and out it on a USB stick. But I can't seem to find the driver for the MBP DVD drive anywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

After countless days trying to solve this problem, I feel I can now add to the few solutions presented on the various forums of the internet. I'll post here because 1: i'm a mac user for everyday life although like most have as many pc's as well. 2: I already have a login for these forums!
okay so i tried everything from re-burns to usb install (which I could not complete because removable drives are not recognized by xp and I don't have a vista system). The problem for me ended up being because the DVD drive was plugged into the primary master ide channel. My hard drive for the unit i was installing windows on is sata and was configured as such (not bridged into IDE channel by bios). So in a nutshell it seems like the hard drive and the DVD drive are nit picky in regards to the IDE configuration of the drives themselves. This won't help for virtualization on a mac pro I realize but nonetheless is food for thought hopefully for all the people searching for " windows 7 install cd/dvd device driver missing " in their search engine!
Oh boy one more reason to love mac's

  • Found "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" when installing Window 7 64bit.

    Hello,
I just bought X220i with Core i-3, ram 8G. When I tried to install Window 7 64bit (Coz of Ram 8G), I got the message “A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing...”. I did browse the driver (using USB 3 Driver) but, it didn't work.
    Any idea to resolve?
    Thanks in advance.

What media are you using to install win 7?  USB DVD drive, flash drive, ???  Downloaded ISO or Lenovo or Microsoft DVD?
One reason (of many) you can get this error message is bad media - corrupt download, bad burn, defective flash or optical media.  I've also heard of problems with USB ports causing this.  If you're using USB media, have you tried another port?
And as NINE asked, when in the process do you get this error?

  • Install Windows 7 USB Load Drive A required CD/DVD drive device driver error

I am trying to do a fresh install on a brand new laptop. I have downloaded a couple of Windows 7 iso images. I have used DiskPart to prepare my USB device and have used the Microsoft usb iso tool to put the Win7 iso image on to the USB device. I always seem
to get stuch after I click Install it quickly comes up with a problem.... Load Driver - A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now... I am installing from a USB drive
so why does Windows require a CD/DVD driver? How do I get Windows 7 to install?
I have read other forums were people have put it down to a corrupt download but I have tried with a couple of different downloads and same problem everytime!
    Please help!
    Thanks
    Gavin

    Hi,
This error message appears if the disk controller mode is incompatible during setup. And it can be caused by your CD/DVD drive may be incompatible with Microsoft’s AHCI driver. To work around this
issue, please go to BIOS and disable AHCI mode for your disk controller. You can change the AHCI mode to IDE or ATA mode instead.
It may also occur if the media is corrupted. Please visit the following link to rebuild the bootable USB stick for Windows Server 2008 R2:
Building a bootable USB stick for Windows 7/Windows Server 2008
    R2
And please check the USB disk: put the USB disk in other machines and boot to see if it works.
Please make sure that the download files are not corrupted.

  • Win xp 64 bit drivers

I want to install windows XP 64 bit pro. on my mac pro but the mac leopard OSX dvd can't install the drivers on my mac because it required a win vesta 64 or win XP 32 so is there any way to find the drivers of my 2.8 8 core mac for the win XP 64 bit edition

    Hi,
Apple has never released BootCamp Drivers for XP-64bit, that's a fact.
Only way to go would be to get all the neccessary drivers from the various websites (Intel, Broadcomm, Realtek, ATI, NVidia, etc.).
For any kind of Apple-specific hardware you won't find any drivers.
    Sorry

  • Solaris 10 GA and 64 bit Pentium Processor. Device Driver Problem

    We have a Dell Poweredge SC420 with 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 (EMT64)
it also has 300Gb SCSI disk and 2 Gb Ram.
By default this machine tried to boot with the 64 bit kernel then could not load the CADP driver (SCSI CARD). We forced the Kernel to 32 bit by changing the BOOT_FILE from /kernel/AMD64/unix to /kernel/unix.
The machine is now booted but we are having problems with our PCI device. The device is a DMA Bus master and works fine on another SC420 which has a 2.8GHz Non-64 bit processor running the same release of Solaris. The device driver fails in strategy when we try to bind the dma buffer,(ddi_dma_buf_bind_handle) returning DDI_DMA_TOOBIG when the cookie count is > 1.
The machine appears to function apart from our device although we have suffered some kernel panics. We cannot ascertain if other devices are performing DMA successfully but must assume that they are.
Anybody got any ideas, Has anyone else got this processor working?

  • "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing"

I was trying to install Windows 7 Professional x64 on a brand new 2014 15" Retina Macbook Pro when I got this error.
Every time the windows boot gets to the 'Install Windows" section, the first thing that comes up is this error. You can look for drivers or cancel
but you cannot proceed. I have tried everything I have seen online, from canceling the installation and plugging in the USB stick/ Optical drive to a different USB port, to replacing my installation media.
The Macbook Pro is running 10.10.3, and I originally downloaded Windows 7 Pro from Microsoft and had Bootcamp create the Windows Install USB as well as the Bootcamp USB.
The computer only has USB3; there are no USB2 ports and no internal Optical drive.
I have also tried using a brand new commercial Win7Pro install disk on an external USB Optical drive.
I have tried booting the system with my freshly created bootcamp driver usb stick attached as well, but the only two locations I can access at this stage are the Windows install disk/USB, and the empty new 99GB BOOTCAMP partition.
    How do I proceed????

    I FIGURED IT OUT!!!
My limitation was not being able to access my bootcamp USB stick, which did contain the needed drivers.
What I did was after creating the Bootcamp Driver USB, and after creating the Bootcamp partition and restarting into Windows. I turned the machine back off, booted back into Yosemite via the Boot Manager (Option Key) and copied the contents of my Bootcamp Driver USB stick onto the empty new BOOTCAMP partition. Then I restarted back into my installer, and was able to browse to the needed driver by accessing the BOOTCAMP partition from the load driver option within the Windows installer menu.
For me, the path was /BOOTCAMP/$WinPEDriver$/IntelxHCISetup/Drivers/xHCI/Win7/x64 and then I picked the driver that appeared. Presto! I was installing Windows.

  • Drivers for Win 8 64 bit HP7680n

I am trying to upgrade from Vista 32 bit to Win 8 64 bit. Is there a driver for Hauppauge WinTV 150 (26XXX) and HP Wireless adapter 802.11 b/g.  Also, is there a way to find the restore password-shop who replaced a hard drive 3 years ago put in a password so cannot use restore.

For the TV Tuner, try the Hauppauge website. I didn't see anything specifically listed for Windows 8, but admittedly, it was only a quick look. As far as the wireless, I'm not sure what brand was used in that model. Over the last few years HP has used Atheros, Ralink, and Intel wireless cards, but the specs page for your model didn't list a maker.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • How do i save files from mac pro to an external hard drive

how do i save files from mac pro to an external hard drive

Your external drive is formatted NTFS which OS X can read from but not write to. You can either install third-party software on the Mac to enable writing to the drive or repartition and reformat the drive for exclusive use with the Mac. If you don't need to move files between a Mac and a PC, then I would recommend the latter solution.
    Tuxera NTFS 2012.3.2
NTFS for Mac OS X 9.5.3
    To repartition:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select the external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

HP designed a quick and easy tool that helps you find the best driver for your printer in Windows 7: the HP Printer Install Wizard .

  • Windows 7 Pro 64-bit:  Boot Campt or Parallels 6

I recently purchased a 13" MacBook Air (maxed out) and wanted to get some opinions regarding Windows 7 Pro (64-bit). Please tell me whether or not you are running Win 7 via Boot Camp or Parallels and why you chose that option over the other.
I'm currently in the process of installing Win 7 Pro on a USB flash drive but it's taking a little longer than anticipated. I'm thinking about going the Boot Camp option, but wanted to get some thoughts on it first.
    Thanks!

On my 27" iMac, I have Parallels 6 installed with Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) running off of an external hard drive. The external hard drive is connected to the iMac via FireWire 800. No real issues there.
I wanted to get a sense of how many people have attempted to install the Windows OS onto an USB flash drive. My concern was the potential performance difference between a FireWire 800 and a USB 2.0 connection.
This afternoon, I set up Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) on a USB flash drive to use with my 13" MacBook Air. I haven't installed all the required Windows updates yet (in the process of doing so), but the responsiveness of the Windows OS does seem a little sluggish.
I may be tempted to halt using Parallels 6 on my MacBook Air and shift to Boot Camp if there is a chance that it will run smoother/faster in environment. But the whole point of using the USB flash drive is to "conserve" as much of the MacBook Air's SSD space...
Is there a "Boot Camp how-to" on Apple's website? If so, could you direct it to me? Thanks!
Firewire 800 is twice as fast as USB 2.0 and USB is not continuous like Firewire, but bursty throughput. There are Bootcamp instructions in multiple places on Support (each machine I think). Bootcamp is either/or (OS X or Windows running at one time) unless you use it with Parallels. If Windows is installed on your SSD, it should scream

  • Win 7 64-bit, Intel 4600 graphics hangs when running Punch home design software

Punch Home and Landscape Pro V17.7 runs great on T500 Win 7 32-bit... all rendering is quick and accurate. This same design program opens, but hangs immediately when any attempt is made to modify the design.
I have posted to the Punch support site. When I called Tec, he said that my version would run on 32-bit or 64-bit machine.
It appears all program components are in the Programs (x86) directory and the Registry seems to have the proper paths and entries (beyond my level of expertise to modify.)
I also read the post regarding the latest Intel Iris 4600 driver on the Intel website, and I could follow this procedure to install the latest driver... but I would be DOWN if the driver did not work.
So, anyone have any ideas as to the proper steps to solve this issue?
    DRC

I see. Unfortunately you can't install the generic Intel driver on Haswell systems without losing brightness control. (You can still try installing it using Device Manager > Have Disk.)
Which version of the driver are you running now?

  • Office Jet Pro 8600 N911a - drivers not displaying on hp support website

Hi there, I am trying to use the hp support pages to find the latest firmware and drivers for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a. The  hp driver website is not listing any. There is a whirly wheel that spins but never gives an answer which is a little frustrating. In the past it was a case of clicking on a hyperlink and choosing the download option required. Now the only software to download  interrogates the pc and printer to give suggestions but doesn't give any answers. Can someone please give me a link to the latest win 7 32 bit drivers for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a and firmware if there has been an update sinch the original pritner launched. I'll even throw in a pretty please and a smiley  thanks in advance john

The driver download pages for many HP products are currently down, but you can download the full featured Windows 7 x86 drivers for the Officejet Pro 8600 n911 from HP here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL40120/bi-108858-3/OJ8600_1315.exe This may not be the latest version and for the firmware update you will need to wait for the HP site to get back up or you can do a firmware update from the front panel of the printer assuming the printer is connected by wired or wireless LAN (not USB).

  • Device driver hard drive

Hi - where can I find the hard drive device driver for a ProBook 6460b? I need to re-install Win 7 (64 bit) and windows install is telling me '... This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the BIOS menu.' I can not find this in the BIOS menu and assume the controller / driver needs installing.
I've looked at the driver list for this machine, but there is nothing obvious listed.
    This question was solved.

Thanks Paul. I in fact found them on the HP site in the end - downloaded and installed on the laptop. Windows 7 is now installing. However this is really slow - taken 22 hrs so far and still on the 'completing installation' stage. I think there is something wrong with the hard drive as the symptons before I decided to do a re-install were very slow to start up - as in very!
Prior to the fresh install I formatted the partition windows was installed on.
