T500 with intel gma 4500mhd, increase system video memory

Hi,
I'm curious if there is a way, to increase my system video memory from the default 96mb, to 128mb or more, sience I still have 1155mb shared system memory. In a few case I would prefer more than 96, but there no increase option in bios nor in the driver settings.
Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 2 8

I'm testing win7 now, and I've got a good reason to think (or I'm almost sure), that the default 92mb vram (32 dedicated + 64 shared) in't enought however I can't allocate manually more shared memory to the vga.
With the default w7 driver, the OS dosen't get any of the shared memory (so the system is running only with the dedicated 32mb), most likely because of that the display becomes choppy/dizzy like this. If I update the driver with the vista driver the vga gets 96 mb vram and this crahes greatly decreasing. After I switch to the classic win theme, they almost gone, exept if I playing videos with DXVA acceleration or 720/1080p movies.
But I'm about to give this up, I've search the internet for a whole day, but didin't  find any way, to overdirve the driver settings.

  • Intel gma 4500mhd with displayport

    Hello.
I have lenovo t500 (2055-2MG) and Dell 24" ultrasharp U2414H monitor. I connected it with displayport - minidisplayport to the notebook, but it does not work with intel gma 4500Mhd. The display shows No signal. I use Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit version.
I read about T410, that displayport is disabled on integrated graphics. Is it concerns for t500 also?
How can I use this integrated graphics with this external monitor?
    Thank you.

Thanks for the help! I've tried what you said above and disabled KMS as explained on http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel. Disabling KMS didn't work with 2.10.0-1, but it did with 2.9.1.1.
I havn't been able to test wheter or not this solves the problems yet. It seams to me that the screen brightness is lower now, and that's good. However, for the screen-flickering problem I'm not sure if it's gone or not yet, and as for the the weirdness of the Power Management it is still there (it is still increasing the brightness lowers the brightness instead). However, that's a minor problem compared to the brightness changing itself all the time.

  • GPU Acceleration in Photoshop (Intel GMA 4500MHD)

Does Intel GMA 4500MHD support GPU acceleration in Adobe Photoshop CS4?
(According to recommendation about OpenGL and Shared Model this GPU should support it, but Intel GPUs are not included in Adobe list of supported GPUs at all and I have found 2 posts on web mentioning it does not). What size of RAM in this case is needed? How it works with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470?
    Thank you.

    Check the Photoshop forum.

  • G580 (2189) How Increasing dedicated video memory? (HD graphics 4000)

g580 (2189) i5-3230M hd Graphics 4000 video memory size is set only 32MB!! And there is not bios setting to increase memory to 64 or 128mb?? why?

    Hi
    Welcome To Lenovo Community
We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,
Intel(R) video controllers do not have dedicated memory. They all use shared memory from the RAM installed on the system and reserved to the video controller through a technology called DVMT (Dynamic Video Memory Technology), which dynamically adjust the amount depending on how much is needed.
The driver uses a small amount (~32MB) of driver for internal housekeeping purposes- that memory is taken at boot time.  All other memory needed is dynamically allocated to graphics as it is needed - up to 1.7GB on a 4GB system.  This is more than enough for all applications that you would be running.

    Hope This Helps

  • No video configuration in bios to increase dedicated video memory

Hi guys! I have lenovo g410 running in windows 7 with bois version 3.05, how can I increase the dedicated video memory? I tried to do it in bios but there is no configuration there that will change it. please help. thanks!

    hi ivangabayan,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
This setting (Memory Remapping)  is set to Automatic.
changing it is not available like on most laptop,
Increasing the RAM can help on increasing the shared amount for the Integrated Graphics.
    Best Regards

  • How do you increase shared video memory?

I own an iMac with 256mb of shared video memory and have been dying to find a way of making the computer use more of my 8gb of RAM for video memory than it currently is (specifically for an improved gaming performance). Does anyone know of a way? Thanks in advance.

Shared video memory? What's that?  Your computer has ram, your video card has ram.  You can change the amount of ram in your computer.  But your video card is what it is.  It cannot be changed.
I think what your want is more ram for your computer.  Go to OWC to see possible choices for your model.  You don't have to buy there if you don't want (but I always recommend them).  But at least you will see what choices are available to you.

  • Windows move choppy in Gnome 3.4 with Intel GMA X4500MHD

    Hello,
the title says it all. I am experiencing this strange behavior when moving windows around. In the last version of Gnome (3.2) everything worked just fine.
I am using the intel driver.
Here (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 9#p1091469) they argue that putting
    CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-clipped-redraws:disable-culling
in /etc/environment makes things better, but it does not.
    Thx for any help!

Sorry. I didn't remember your post and suggested something from memory. Should have reread it.
Is something else using up resources? Check with top. And does the same thing happen using the GNOME 3 fallback mode? Or maybe you're just picky... Because even Windows doesn't offer pixel-perfect window moving, especially at a high speed. There will be some tearing. This is because your eyes are catching the window frame between screen refreshes. The human eye can see up to about 200 frames per second, while LCD's only refresh at 60 fps (Hz).

Anyone know yet if the Intel HD Graphics 3000 chipset in the new MBP 13-inch supports the Apple Video Decode Acceleration Framework? I'm hoping so as Flash needs it for hardware acceleration--anything to make that dog work better.

There are no 2.5Ghz MacBooks. 2.4Ghz is the fastest made. Here's a list of every MacBook at Everymac.com http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/index-macbook.html
The best way to check on used prices is to keep watching eBay http://computers.shop.ebay.com/Apple-Laptops-Notebooks-/111422/i.html?Product%25 20Family=MacBook&Processor%2520Type=Core%25202%2520Duo&Memory%2520%2528RAM%2529= 512%2520MB%2520or%2520more&Hard%2520Drive%2520Capacity=60%2520GB%2520or%2520more &LH_ItemCondition=3000&Processor%2520Speed%2520%2528per%2520Core%2529=2%252E4%25 20GHz%2520or%2520more&_nkw=13.3%20apple%20macbook&rt=nc&_catref=1&_dmpt=Apple_La ptops&_npmv=3&_sc=1&_sop=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282
As to RAM, not all MacBooks use 667mhz RAM and not all can handle 4gb. Any 2.4Ghz MacBook can though.
    1,1 (Early 2006) can handle 2gb of 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
    2,1 (Late 2006 & Mid 2007) can handle 3gb of 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
    3,1 (Late 2007) can handle 4gb of 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
    4,1 (Early 2008) can handle 6gb of 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
    5,1 (Late 2008, Aluminum Unibody) can handle 8gb of 1066mhz PC3-8500 RAM

Thanks for your response. My issue is that I tried playing GTA 4 today and on the graphics settings it lets you know how much memory is being used for graphics and how much is required for the desired settings. Even on the lowest settings it requires about 200mb however it said it was only utilising 60mb even though there is lots of ram allocated to standby.

The maximum OS for that iMac is 10.6.8.

  • Flash player slow: Intel GMA 500

    Hi
I've been testing the new flash player 10.2, and while walking fairly light compared to theflash player 10.1, still walking quite slow with the videos in HD. (does not reach 20 FPS)
Worse, every time I put full screen on youtube, the FPS drop dramatically, even to less than 5 FPS.
    My PC is:
    Asus EEEPC 1201 HA
    Atom Z 520
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    2GB Ram
Intel GMA 500 (was supposed to be supported video acceleration for the video card, considering that supports H.264 video acceleration up to 1080P.)
Thank you very much for having this forum to report problems.

I have the same issue here. The latest flash player (11.1) doesn't even play 360p Youtube flash videos without like 80% CPU load (Intel Atom) and stuttering. System is Windows 7 Prof. 32bit, browser is IE9 or FF8)
OTOH, the same Atom Netbook (with Intel GMA 500 graphics) plays HD video (mp4 AVC), windowed or fullscreen, with almost no CPU load in VLC or WMP.
Strangely, in Google Chrome, it IS possible to watch 720p Youtube flash video with very low CPU usage.
So, what could be the culprit for HW acceleration not being used by Flash in other browsers than Chrome?
Thanks already to the Adobe flash support team for your reply,

  • 64MB GeForce FX Go5200 vs. 64MB (shared) Intel GMA 950 - Which is better???

    I currently have a July '04 PowerBook G4 w/ a 64MB GeForce FX Go5200 with 768MB of main memory
I'm thinking about purchasing a MacBook (Black) with Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory
1- Which graphics processor is better, which will yeild "better" graphics?
2- What does it mean "shared" with main memory, is this good or bad?
3- I was planning on getting 1GB of memory for the MacBook, I don't need 2GB's as I have that in my iMac. How much of my main memory will be drawn on to perform graphics tasks and will I need more than 1GB to get the 1GB feeling?
    Thanks in advance,

    Welcome to the discussions!
While I do not have exact numbers, the GMA950 is quite a bit better than even a more recent video card than the Go5200. Arc Technica did a review of the MB back in May and in their benchmarks, they found that in some cases the MB beat the MBP.
That said, you will really only notice the difference if you were gaming on the MB.
The shared memory simply means that a portion of the system memory is set aside for the graphics. Generally, it is considered bad, but again - for gaming.
According to Apple, the GMA950 uses 80GB of the system memory, but can use more depending on the system's needs.

  • Increasing video memory from the A40-211

    Hello all,
I've got the Satellite A40-211. The Intel chipset also takes care for all the graphic stuff, so it needs a little bit RAM memory as video memory. This is possible up to a maximum of 64MB. The problem is that the chipset now uses a maximum of 16mb as video memory, but I want to increase this to 64MB.
Where can I find the settings for this in Windows Xp Home?
    Thanks for all the help!
    Bart

Hi, its not possible to increase the video memory yourself !
Let me say that your Notebook has an dynamic Memory Management
Your Computer System reserved only so much Graphic Memory as he needs, to accomplish all tasks running on your A40.
...this Dynamic Video Sharing is not bad, as I think !
More Infos about your Graphic Chip youll find on the pages of Intel.
    nice evening...
