T510 4313 has 64bit windows 7 8gb but only has 2.99 usuable
I have a Lenovo T510 4313 and has 64bit windows 7 ultimate installed. I replaced both memory slots from 2gb each to 4gb each for a total of 8gb but shows 8gb installed but only has 2.99gb usable. Has anyone found a resolution for this?

What do you observe if you try to boot the machine with only one of the 4GB sticks installed, and then again swapping them one for the other?

I have a T500 with 4GB memory and install the windows 7 64bit .
but in system I found that 4GB installed but only 2.96Gusable.
do a search and it is said it need to active the memory remapping for 64 bit in BIOS , but I cannot find where I can set it.I'm seeing the same thing running Win 7 64bit on my W500.
Under Computer -> Properties Installed Memory shows as 4.00 GB (2.99 GB usable)
Under Task Manager Physical Memory shows - Total: 3066
With no apps running after a restart.

After much searching I found out why this was happening on my system. The fix for me was to run msconfig.exe, go to the Boot tab, select Advanced options and then deselect Maximum memory. Normally this is not selected but I had enabled it as potential fix to the annoying “Display driver atikmdag stopped responding” error. It didn’t fix that problem anyway, so I should have changed it back at that time. After deselecting the Maximum memory and restarting, I now see and am able to use all 4 GB of RAM. -
Upgraded ram to 8gb but only show 4gb free?
So i upgraded my 2011 late macbook pro to 8gb but it shows that only about 3.5ish to 4ish gb to be free. I had OS X Yosemite 10.10 installed as well. Please help me out!!
Agreed, for the most part: RAM is the fastest medium to keep and process data, so the more is used, the faster your machine will work. Caching/writing to disk (even an SSD), on the other hand...
Now, about those "memory cleaning" apps: there are the good ones, that actually clear inactive memory based on real alloc/malloc instructions left by running apps, and those, not so good, that will clean indiscriminately, shaving at the top, so to speak.
One good app that will work, though in your case it's pretty useless, given the total amount of RAM on your machine, is Purge; you can also invoke the "purge" command in Terminal every once in a while if you want, but it's not going to change the face of the Earth... -
Dual booting in Windows and Linux, but only Linux has calendar, TB 31.0
I'm dual booting using Linux Mint and Windows 7. I have TB 31.0 installed in each OS. TB in Linux has calendar capability; in Windows, there's nothing (by nothing, I mean no calendars - I can't see their properties, for instance, nor access them in any way).
I should add that both Windows and Linux TB programs are sharing the same profile folder (located on a separate partition), hence, all the same add-ons, passwords, etc.

My apologies for posting this in this way; I had intended to submit this via the crashreporter, but I'm having trouble getting the program to crash with this error just now.A reply to my own question: it turns out that while sharing a profile works pretty well for most purposes, with Lightning it does not, as the extension has different Linux and Windows versions. The problem is solved quite simply: by not using the same profile for each version.
Glad to see that no one wasted time on this one (except me, of course). -

T510: Can't load Windows 7, Keeps rebooting only works in safe mode
Trying to get my T510 up and running after my W520 went DOA after a bios update. When i power on the laptop it tries to load Windows 7 then goes into a rebooting loop. I can get into safe mode with networking just fine without issues, so i figured it was a display driver problem. In safe mode I unstalled the Nvidia drivers and tried to reboot but still got the same issue. I went into the BIOS to see if I could disable optimus and use just the intel GPU, but I don't even see a setting for disabling it or reference to the NVidia GPU at all. I'm positive it was there before.
I've swapped hard drives and memory modules out. Even tried to do a fresh install of Windows and it still won't load. I'm out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Try and applied the machine updated in Safe mode. It usually works. If your install is from MS DVD then be sure all the foundation software is installed. Chipset tool especially and build from there.
You could also run the memory diagnostic after booting from the MS Windows 7 DVD. Eliminate a bad memory module. (If you have two) take the first on out and move the second one into the first slot. See if its stable, remove and insert the other SODIM into the first slot. Why, normal mode is very intense on RAM and also address a lot more memory.

Satellite P100: No Windows Vista CD but only Recovery CD
Hi I recently purchased a toshiba satellite P100, but it doesn't seem to have come with a Windows Vista disk, just preinstalled Vista.
The laptop is running fine at the moment, but I'm a bit worried that if something goes wrong in the future i'll have no way to reinstall the OS.
The laptop came with a recovery disk, and I'm not sure if Vista is included on this?
If not is there anyway I can make a copy of vista from the one installed on my HDD?

dont worry, you dont need to make a copy of your HDD since you already have a vista on your recovery media.
If you got problems with your system and you want to re-install it, then backup all your data to a external media, put the recovery in your CD/DVD drive, boot from it and then just "recover" or "reinstall" your system. The recovery process is working automatically and you will have a "factory-like" installation after recovering your machine.

Whenever I reply to an e-mail the window comes up but without the paper airplane in the top left corner. The only way to send the reply is to close it and save as a draft. Then I can pull it up from Drafts and it has the airplane on it.
Launch Mail.
Click "New Message" in the Toolbar.
When the new message window opens up, click "View" menu in the menu bar.
Select "Show Toolbar" from the dropdown.

Select "Customize Toolbar from the dropdown.

I created a photo album on my iPhone 4s - edited photos etc. but I cannot figure out how to transfer it to my pc (using Windows 8). The only folder in the iphone drive is the one which has the Camera roll photos Help please - I really need the photos!
The camera roll is not part of the sync process at all.
You should be importing these photos to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. Youc an organize them on your computer and sync the to the iphone if you wish.
The photos sync from the computer to the iphone is one way.
The iphone mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced. -
I ordered the new Iphone 6 and it will ship on 10/31, on 10/15 I completed the paperwork to return my iphone 4 8GB, but it appears when my paperwork was emailed to me and I didn't notice until today. It has my return phone listed as an iphone4 16GB...is this going to be an issue? I was quoted a trade in value of $200 and need to apply this to my iphone 6, if the trade in is not going to be $200 I need to cancel. I did call the verizon store today and the woman told me it should be no problem, but I keep hearing horror stories about this trade in program and I need to be sure.
