T510 Nvidia Display stopped and recovered
Hi Everyone,
I'm experiencing some problem with my 4month old T510 laptop. Today, while I was using my laptop, the screen went black for one second and came back on again, with a little notice at the bottom (near the time setting) saying something like the Nvidia display has stopped and recovered.
It has happenend about 3 times since I received the laptop, does anyone have the same problem, im using a windows 7 system, it is a serious problem, or should I not worry about it. I've never had any trouble with my older Thinkpads, but this one seems to cause me problems. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
JO
I am having the same issues on my T510, with Nvidia NVS3100 graphic card.
Occasionally the driver will stop respond, and thus recover. There is not a specific way of replicating the problem, it just randomly occurs.
About my installation, its a clean Win7 installation - no preload (hate preloads)
3 days ago I reinstalled my Win7, for troubleshooting purposes with a slow boot to Windows 7. So I have the newest drivers from Lenovo right now, and yesterday it happened again, sadly.
Current driver installed on my system:
8.17.12.5738 (Graphics)
1.0.15.0 (Audio)
I dont think it is a hardware failure, think its a driver issue - so Im hoping a new version will be released that fixes it. Untill then, I am just happy that it doesnt occur often for me.

Nvidia Driver Crashed and Recovered
I've been getting errors that say my 258 version nVidia Driver crashed and recovered. It's happened probably five times since I got my new replacement machine.
This time, it managed to corrupt a 3DS max file I was working on for school, so I just lost a bunch of work. I'm really close to just throwing my machine away and spending another $2700 on a Dell or something.
Before I do that though, what could cause a driver to crash like that? I've updated to the version on nVidia's site, since Lenovo's driver is over a year old. Do I need to revert?
Every day I'm more disappointed with the build quality and reliability of something I spent so much money for. I do believe this is the last time I will *ever* purchase anything from this company.xtsubarublazin wrote:

It is not recommended that you use drivers from Nvidia's Website for your system(It may have a customized version) .... didn't you get a warning dialog when you tried to download them?
Cheers and regards,

Acrobat causes Nvidia driver to stop and recover
I accidentally started this in the Photoshop forum in an nvidia thread - I was told to move it, so here I am. Apologies.
I am running an EVGA nVidia GeForce 7200GS 512 MB VGA/DVI/TV-out PCI-Express Video Card (model# 512-P2-N430-LR).
Windows 7 (32bit), 2X2.6ghz, 4gb ram, dual monitors.
I'm running Adobe Acrobat 9.0.0 Pro, as a part of Web Premium CS4.
When I run Adobe Acrobat, I see the driver fail and recover - 11 times in the last 30 days. It's often when I'm using Acrobat in a pretty heavy handed manner, like opening 3 large documents at once (but not always that heavy). I updated my driver on June 6th and it still happens.

Description:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
I'm installing roughly 1GB of updates for CS4 right now, so hopefully the issue will stop.
I realize this is a video card issue, since it is stopping, but I also realize this is a video card stopping only with the help of Acrobat. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash all have had no trouble from what I can recall.
I have posted a similar issue at the nvidia website, but they have a horrible website and I can't even tell if they support the 7200.
Thanks so much for any help in finding a solution.
Joby9.3.3 apparently fixed it. I haven't had it happen since I updated and the usual reproduction doesn't stop the driver.
Thanks for the help!!! -
Satellite M300 - display driver stopped and recovered keeps popping up
Hi
I am new to this forum took me half hour to find how to post this.
If any one knows a fix please helpHi
As I understood your very short posting: you got an message that the display driver stopped or crashed and recovered again.
Right?
Maybe an new display driver installation would help to sort of this issue.?
I would recommend you to uninstall the previous driver.
Clean the system using CCLeaner (or other 3rd party tool)
Reboot the unit, download and finally install the newest version of display driver released for your notebook model. Reboot the unit.

Nvidia keeps crashing and recovering
Just bought a secondhand Msi GT683r-232NE and my graphics card keeps crashing and recovering when I play wow. No other games. It only crashes when my laptop is plugged in, so I can game with the charger disconnected. It's a Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 if thats any help. Ive been looking fora solution for over two months now so i'm getting desperate. The previous owner never had this issue, though he only played FPSgames.
Seems to be a common WOW problem. Somebody got rid of it by enabling vsync. Running the game in DX9 mode seems to be the most used solution.

Graphics driver has stopped and recovered
While playing Max Payne 3, Bf3, Far Cry 3 and War Thunder I encounter crashes (After around 40-60 min) with the "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message. I have been monitoring the temps of my motherboard, gpu and cpu and none are exceeding excessive temperatures. My GPU temps maxes out at 75 c under full load 60 min ingame.
It only seems to crash when playing DX10/1X games. Been palying Arma 2 for hours and hours online and never had any problems. Same with source games.
Now the strange strange part. When I play the games in Windowed mode I never encounter these problems.
Anyone had this fixed?

Urgent solution to this problem "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from timeout failed"
Hi wonderful people at HP,
I would be glad if you can solve this problem in my system. I want this to be urgent enough because I am graduating by March 1st 2011 and I want many things to be completed on my system.
I have previously purchased warranty with hp for three times for tune out service, software and hardware help but nothing has been materialized, I am sorry to say but I just lost my money.
My system, from the time of purchase, had the same persistent problem of overheating and also heavy noise, I told this to several people of HP but they never seem to respond properly. In fact my friend had a similiar problem in DELL and they responded promptly and sent him a new computer system. I don't know what to do. It will be ok if my system can function for one more month. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL TO YOU IF YOU CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
Regards,
KBPNRe your 116 BSOD...
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

BSOD "ATTEMPT TO RESET THE DISPLAY DRIVER AND RECOVER FROM TIMEOUT FAILED"
Have reinstalled many video card drivers- does not correct the situation.
How can it be determined if this is a hardware problem?
If the video card driver is disabled, is the video card dead or is it running from some crude driver in the bios?
Thank you.Hello again @myk120,
Thank you for the updated information on your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-180t CTO Desktop PC. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7), which will walk you through the process of recovering the original drivers that came with your computer. As we know that these drivers worked when you got the machine they should resolve your current issue.
If however they do not I would suggest a backup of your personal information and a full factory recovery to put everything back to how it was when you first bought the computer. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.
If the above steps did not resolve your issue please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

Nvidia display driver has stopped responding and has recovered
Hello,
I'm fairly new to the boards. I recently purchased my first laptop, the t510. I have noticed on 2 occasions, about a month apart where the screen flickered and received the nvidia display driver message above. On the first occasion, I was running Google Earth. On the second occasion, I was playing a demo of a game. The power settings were on low in both instances. Is the problem that the video card was not receiving enough power or am I looking at imminent hardware failure. I have the 3 year depot warranty so I can certainly send it in for repair if necessary but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a power setting. Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.

ChadLook at this thread:
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T510-Nvidia-Display-stopped-and-recovered/m...
You are not the only one with this problem scout929.
Its not the best idea to do a direct comparison with the W510 thread, since that model doesnt use the same graphic processor as the T510 - but its a guideline to the driver being faulty nevertheless. So I guess we just have to wait for a driver that works better... -
Problems with Nvidia GeForce 210 and windows 8.1
Hi all, I have Windows 8.1 Pro update 1 64bit installed, two weeks ago I started giving problems graphics card NVidia (even has me
given several blue screen).
I tried to update the drivers for the card but I got the same problem. It was working properly with generic
drivers, and if I went to Computer Administrator me a yellow triangle appeared
on my graphics card and the properties told me the following:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.
(Code 43 )
My machine is as follows:
Mainboard : Asus P5K SE
Chipset: Intel P31/P35
Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2400MHz
Physical Memory : 3072MB (3 x 1024 DDR2- SDRAM)
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
Hard Disk : Seagate ST3320620AS ATA Device (320GB )
Monitor Type: LG Electronics L1919S
I just formatted
the computer from scratch, and
I still had the same problem with the graphics card,
so I imagined it would be a hardware problem
and bought NVIDIA GeForce 210.
In the end I
upgraded to Windows 8.1 update 1 with
the latest drivers for the GeForce 210,
and after 6 days running everything correctly, a few days ago
returned to give me problems,
the screen sometimes freezes and will not
let me do anything and after a while
giving me a blue screen and reboots
me, I suspect that the graphics drivers
are giving me problems, and I had to
disable the graphics card and work with
generic drivers from Microsoft, and even then I
was restarted once.
I installed Driver Booster and all the drivers are updated.
Could
anyone analyze
dump files dmp ? Download here
I got another dmp:
C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP but it is too heavy.
Thanksyes, I check the dump files
this cause by graphic card, on which graphic card you reformat your PC and update
.NET framework maybe cause this driver corrupted
my suggestion is try using internal graphic card, just for testing
Just in case you don't believe me, please check this dump file

Satellite P105 - Can't install nVidia display driver
I tried completing the download multiple times for the nVidia Display Driver 9.7.5.4.
The first times the setup would not complete citing "that this computer does not have the correct hardware.." , then the Windows message came up and said that "if this setup did not complete successfully click here blabla" and I did that.
Now when I run the setup it still stops in the same spot. But now it says that *"the setup can not be completed because this driver only runs on Windows Vista, and this is not Windows Vista." But the thing is I do have Windows Vista!*
Current Display Driver: Mobile Intel(R) 945 GM Express ChipSet Family
Laptop Model: Satellite P105-S6177
Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bitHi
> Current Display Driver: Mobile Intel(R) 945 GM Express ChipSet Family
And then you want to install an nVidia display driver?
LOL :D
I think you can not install an nVidia display driver because your notebook is equipped with a Intel chipset and graphic card.
You will never be able install nVidia display driver and so did get the message that you don’t have the correct hardware.
Intel graphic cards and nVidia graphic cards are different things so do not mix it!
Some P105 was equipped with nVidia cards and otheres with Intel card and it seems that you have an Intel card. -
Nvidia Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered, kernel mode 186.60
I have tried just about everything, including first downloading new drivers, HP put in a new display card and has had it back to the factory two other times.
It still happens and produces a black screen anywhere from 8 to 15 seconds. It happens in all programs, showing no one activity over another.
I think it has to do with the TouchSmart technology, because it's a large "laptop" in technology. It finally happened during the night when HP Advisor was monitoring and they asked for feedback. MAYBE they will discover the problem. It's particularly hard when I had to ship it back to HP (at their expense) and do without it, then have to reinstall things all over again!
I wish someone had the answer!Sorry it took me a while to get back to my TouchSmart. Here are the details on the "Optional" Windows update that seems to resolve this issue. Hope this helps -PH

Satellite A500 - NVIDIA driver stopped responding and has recovered
Hello.
I have a TOSHIBA Satellite A500-1GP. I bought this laptop 1 mounth ago, and from 2 weeks before I start to have problem with it. The screen it goes black, like 2-3 seconds, after is appear this message " Nvidia driver stopped responding and has recovered" Is really start to stressing me. I install the laptop with all his original driver, and his original Windows 7. I didn't make any reinstall, or something else.
The updates ar UP TO DATE, and I have no ideea what he should want from my life. Like this are all the new models ? Start to make problems from the begining ? I'm waiting some answers..
Thanks..My config:
- Toshiba Satellite A500-1GR
- Process: Intel Core i5
- RAM: 4096 Mo DDR3
- Graphic card: nVidia GeForce GT 330M
I had the same problem the graphic driver installed was the 258.96 Version. I kept it up-to-date using nVidia official web site... Afterwards, I believe I was wrong to do so.
I did as you suggested.
- I went to the [Toshiba Support Center|http://fr.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/]
- I downloaded and installed the 20/08/10 BIOS Update
- I downloaded and installed the 08/06/10 Display Driver
After that, I checked the version of the GeForce GT 330M driver, it's now 188.75.
I have no problem since I did this in the beginning of this afternoon. What a relief !
Thank for your Support!
If I encounter the issue again, I will notify it in this thread, but I hope this issue is solved and that I won't need to! -
「Display driver has stopped working and recovered successfully」
I have a MSI GS60 2PC GHOST laptop.
Graphic Driver: Intel HD Graphics 4600
When I was playing a game on my laptop, it suddenly lagged or the game screen turned black, then recover, turned black then recover... multiple times and each time I get a message saying that the "display driver has stopped working and recovered successfully" on the bottom right.
I have tried updating the graphic driver and it worked for about an hour or so, and the problem came back.
Need help in solving this problem!Does this happen when you run the game by using dGPU(NVIDIA graphics) or iGPU(Intel graphics)?
(Check the color of your power button light, it lights red when dGPU is running and blue when iGPU is running)
Does this happen on all games you play or just one single game?
Tell your current graphics driver version(both NVIDIA and Intel graphics driver).
If you're running the game with NVIDIA graphics, check your vbios version in NVIDIA control panel(Right click on the desktop> NVIDIA Control Panel> System Information>Video BIOS). There is version 80.04.EF.00.22 released on the MSI website, and if you have a different one, I'd suggested to update the VBIOS and see if the problem still remains.
