T510 Random Stuck Pixels?

I received my T510 FHD Thinkpad about a month ago and over the last few days it started to display random stuck pixels (always on - white).  I say random because they eventually go away when I open and close windows or reboot the computer.  Mysteriously reappearing later at random (not in the same spots if I recall correctly)???
After doing some internet research, I ran JScreenFix (http://www.jscreenfix.com/) for about an hour on full screen.  The problem persists.
My son suggested this could be a driver issue (supported by the fact that the pixel becomes "unstuck" when shutting down Windows XP and doesn't appear until Windows finishes booting up).  I am using the most recent Nvidia drivers so I'm hoping this is not isolated.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciate.
Thanks,
Stephen

Update
This is apparently an issue exclusive to Windows XP.  I used a separate HD and installed Windows 7 - no temporarily stuck pixels.
Have to assume this is a driver issue.  Hopefully, Lenovo/Nvidia will release a fix soon.
Any other ideas/fixes would be appreciated.
Thanks.

  • Stuck pixels? Not sure...

I've been reading a lot of posts this morning about stuck pixels, and I thought maybe that's what I have, but mine seem to be a little off from what others are experiencing. I woke up my iMac (bought in May 2006 from the online Apple store, so warranty is definitely over), and noticed a straight, vertical line of light blue going right down the entire center of the screen. I thought maybe it was just on the Safari page I had open, but it was on the desktop as well. I restarted, thinking something had fritzed, but it's still there now.
On some of the other discussions there were links to pixel programs to try and fix the problem yourself. I did the Pixel Fix widget, and it had no effect on the line. I also used Pixel Check, and when I tried all the different colors, the line was there for Blue, Green, Red and Black, but NOT White. I'm not entirely sure what that means, though.
So far massaging the line hasn't done anything, and I'm scared to press too hard and mess something else up. Does anyone have any ideas of something else I could try? If I have to live with it, I will, but it's pretty horrible being down the center of the screen. I can't imagine trying to watch a movie on here ever again with it like that.
    Thank you for any suggestions!!

It probably happened just as you turned it on that time. It wasn't random, just at the point when something failed. There's no telling whether the screen will get any worse or when, but I don't believe there's anything you can do to prevent it. If you can live with it, or have no choice, then carry on. Hopefully it wont bother you too much.

  • T510 Randomly BSODs - but not in Safe Mode

My brand new T510 randomly Blue Screens throughout the day, after installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit aftermarket.  I've downloaded all the 64-bit drivers from Lenovo and installed them, I've updated to the newest BIOS.  I've rebuilt several times now and tried leaving certain drivers uninstalled.  It still BSODs.  Sometimes it's once every two hours, others it's 3 times in 10 min.
I am about to do a mem check.  The CPU doesn't appear to be overheating...in fact it usually freezes and reboots when I am on the web, or in a directory.  It comes back up with the 124 error.  I've looked at the minidump and haven't gleaned much info, as it's a different service or app that causes the BSOD each time.
I'm just wondering if anyone else is having issues with 64-bit Ultimate on the T510?  It appears to me it's a driver issue, as I can work just fine in Safe Mode.  But it may be a hardware issue,  I dunno....any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

No stability issues thus far.  It's the factory-installed Win7 Pro 64.  And I haven't updated any of the drivers or BIOS.  Once the new BIOS is out that fixes the keyboard issue, I'll update it and probably all the drivers and tools.
So, you didn't burn the recovery DVDs first before you nuked everything?

Will the warranty cover a stuck pixel on my iPad 2?

Warranty should cover screen defects but not accidental damage. Only way to know is to visit an Apple store and ask.

  • Dead or stuck pixel

    Hello,
I'm new to the forum here having recently converted. I've done a search or 2 on this issue but found nothing of note. I have one dead pixel(well its green or white sometimes) in the middle of the screen and its very annoying. I've read through all the support pages and found the usual pixel anomalies page explaing all about it.
But It only mentions LCD's. There's no mention of LED screen, so would I be right in saying that there is no material specifying the restrictions of this and it would be considered a fault?

    Vermelho88 wrote:
But what I mean is, they have no policy for LED screens stated yet so therefore its just plain faulty, as in "not as described" so wouldn't they have to replace it straight away?
It's still an LCD display. The Al MacBook displays use LED (as opposed to fluorescent) backlighting. A dead/stuck pixel is still an LCD malfunction. One dead pixel is considered normal. If it weren't the cost to the manufacturer would be considerably more in terms of rejected parts and warranty returns.

  • I'm a student, non-earning, how can I get rid of this stuck pixel?

I recently saved up for a Macbook Pro 13" (2010) for my graphic design college course and I cared for it as soon as it came. It suddently got a red Stuck pixel near the centre on the right. I'm really upset because I have only had it for about 3 weeks. I was going to use it to design and create on, but this red pixel keeps distracting me.
I have tried JScreenfix a few times, left it on for about an hour, still was there. I feel bad leaving the screen on for so long anyway, considered leaving it on all night, but don't want to if it won't work. I have also touched it a few times, but that feels bad.
Any suggestions? I've booked an appointment with the Apple Store near me..

Hi you have an excellent computer - leaving it on all night will not harm it. If you follow the instructions in the link below the battery should give you years of service:

  • Stuck Pixels + Dust

I have had my iPod for 4 months now and have had 2 stuck pixels since i got it, they have only just started annoing me as i have now started watching movies.
Added to this i have quite a large amount of dust behind the screen mainly in the top left corner, there are also one or two coloured particles whitch i am unable to identify, they are the size of 4 pixels and still appear wjen the screen is off, clearly the seal is broken or somthing along those lines as i have allways kept my iPod in an Apple iPod sock from the day I got it. I feel rather dissapointed by theese factors as the Multi-Touch display is the main feature of the iPod touch. I would like advice on where to go next... Should i visit an Apple Retail store os Send it in Online? I would also like to know if a refund is a possibility because as old phone has now ceased to function, i would like to get the iPhone... Would this be possible and how could i do this.
    Thanks for Your Help Phil.

    Phil,
There isn't much you can do about returning it or trading it. Apple gives you the 30 day grace period after purchase to return for a full refund and clearly 4 months is beyond this period. My suggestion would be to take it in, have it replaced (as it is still under warranty), then try and resell it on CraigsList or eBay.

  • Qosmio G25: Vertical lines of stuck pixels

I have a huge problem with my Toshiba Qosmio G25:
My LCD screen has 2 lines of stuck pixels, one pixel wide, running from top to bottom. Before continuing I would like to stress that my computer has not had any physical trauma of any kind and generally is used like a desktop.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there any quick fix which I can handle on my own or is the only solution sending in the laptop for service? How are problems like this handled, will toshiba replace the screen or will they completely replace the computer? I would much rather prefer fixing this on my own with your suggestions as opposed to a lengthy wait on service.
All my schoolwork depends on my computer and I would be powerless without it for several weeks. Please if anyone has encountered this issue and resolved it, I would appreciate it if they could share their experience and knowledge.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello Makaroni
It is not easy to say if this occurs because of LCD malfunction or even because of defective graphic card. You can check how it works with external monitor to see if the problem persists.
Anyway I dont believe you can do anything on your own especially if the graphic card or LCD display is defective. The hardware must be replaced. I know that it is very annoying but I recommend you to contact service in your country. Save all your data to USB memory stick and try to finish your work on some friends PC.

  • X220 with backlight leak and stuck pixel

I just ordered x220 from lenovo. I recived the box yesterday and found my new thinkpad had many backlight leak and 1 stuck pixel at the center. I am very disappoint with it. Can I return it, change to new one or send to lenovo sevice center in thailand to change my IPS display.
I ordered it on 5/26/11. My friend in USA passed it to me on 6/6/11 then I recieved package in Thailand on 6/10/11.
    This is my backlight leak.

Unfortunately I can not take stuck pixel image.
I hope lenovo will help me fix this problem.
    Thank you.

    welcome to the forum!
the current policy is that a display must have three or more dead or stuck pixels to be considered defective.   one is simply not enough.
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69856
regarding the backlight bleed, it looks normal to me for an LED notebook panel.   i could create a condition where even $5000 IPS graphics displays show some sort of backlight bleed on a black background with brightness at full power.   no display is perfect in this regard.   my X220 IPS panel has a slight amount of bleed under the right conditions but is only noticable 1% of the time.
if this is unsatisfactory, you may try contacting lenovo support in thailand at 1-800-060-066 or 66 2273 4088 between 8AM and 5PM monday-friday.   however, please note that they will likely refer to the same pixel policy above.   whether or not they will make an acception due to the location of the stuck pixel is up to them.

  • Stuck Pixels

How is the quality of the iPhone display? Anyone seeing stuck pixels? Mine is free of stuck pixels but incase I find something odd in the 14 day exchange period I want to weigh that against the stuck pixel, which I would hate! How hard is it to remove the sim?

Go to the following link on your iPhone Safari browser. It is a handy (and free) web-based application that helps you see if you have any dead/stuck pixels.
    http://iphonedpt.bravehost.com/
A few posts have appeared on these forums about dead/stuck pixels, but it does not seem to be a major problem.
The SIM is easy to remove. See page 113 of the iPhone User Guide.

  • Any way to fix a stuck pixel?

I have a 5530 with one stuck pixel. Not dead. Glows white, so I know its alive. Is there any way to fix it, or should I bother complaining about it to the dealer? It really doesn't bother me much, because it is in the edge of the screen and normally I do not notice it, but I do know it is there, so I am asking for advice.
    Thanks.

I have da stuck pixel on my screen. On my iphone5. What can I do?

Hi! Sorry for the late reply.
You could go back to Verizon, though it's highly likely they might send it away for repair. If you go into an Apple Retail Store instead they tend to do everything on the spot.
Not entirely sure with Verizon's options (Im in Australia) but can only give it a try

  • Hp veer stuck pixels?

I have a new veer that i got off from someone unlocked over ebay. A few weeks i reboot the phone and notice that theres around 8-10 stuck pixels on the screen. I tried looking for a way to get it fixed over warranty, but it only gives a phone number to AT&T, which I dont have. Is there a way i can get the warranty for my phone over the stuck pixels?
    thanks!
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

You can call webOS tech support at 877-426-3777 to get a repair or replacement set up. If this device has been modified for another carrier it will be restored back to AT&T defaults including it being locked to AT&T.

  • IPhone 5 stuck pixels

i have 3 stuck pixels on my screen. Can i use my warranty for this?
what is the policy of Apple about the stuck pixels?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
I had my iphone in my pocket yesterday when I was in the workshop at college. I was in a car and my leg got wedged by the steering wheel, the leg with the iphone in the pocket. Checking it after, the phone was fine and is protected by a leather case. Later on, I was in my car using my phone to play music. I noticed a little cluster of greyish pixels. Thought not much of it, as it's a second hand iphone and is out of warranty, but this morning, (after my partner threw my phone across the room onto the bed), there are now lines travelling a long the screen from this small cluster.
I'm not sure whether they're dead or not. I would rather have apple look at it, but I want to know how expensive it is to get a screen repair, or whether it worth paying for a whole recondition phone.
Not having luck the past two months with phones. If I get a new one, it'll be my third.
