T510 trackpad acting odd...

I've got a T510 and the trackpad does this strange thing where it's acting as if the button is depressed even when it's not. When you move the cursor around on the screen just by moving your finger, not touching any buttons, it will draw little boxes everywhere, as if youv'e got the button presed. Also, sometimes the left-click button does not select things as it should. The buttons don't appear to be broken at all, it's been well cared for. I'm pretty certain it isn't a software issue because I've done a complete Windows reinstall and it still does this...
Any ideas?

Maybe Windows picked up the wrong drivers? Try running a Linux Distro out of a CD or USB Drive, just to rule out any software problem

  • Iphone acting odd

My son's phone is acting odd now. When I tried to update all apps on it, it keeps saying there is no space in storage and I need to take care of the storage. I deleted a bunch of apps and the music from what I downloaded onto my iphone and it still says the same thing. I don't understand what is going on with it. He said he went on some **** sites but I don't know if that is what is the problem that is causing this. Is there something I can do to fix this? Or a reason why I have to update all one by one instead of all at once?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Backing up, Updating and Restoring >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first..

  • Trackpad acting weird after spill

    Hi,
I am in kind of a problem right now. My trackpad is acting weird after some juice spilled over it from a drinking straw. Everything else works fine. I have turned the power off just to be safe. I need advice as to what to do. I bought my mac (late 2013 15" retina display) in USA. I live in Ghana and there are no Apple stores here. What is my safest option?

  • Trackpad acting funky but mouse okay

Okay so suddenly after having my 12" 867 PB for almost 3 years my trackpad is acting up. Its almost acting elastic like I can only move the pointer out so far before it snaps back. If I don't have my finger on it the pointer just kinda wobbles in place a little. If I plug in a mouse the mouse works fine but if I still have the trackpad enables it wobbles while the mouse is plugged in but otherwise works. If I click ignore trackpad while mouse is plugged in the wobble goes away. If I use the mouse anywhere from a few seconds to minutes then unplug the mouse the trackpad then seems okay for a while...then out of the blue it starts acting up again (usually within minutes).
    Any thoughts?

help me it's getting worse! Now I can't click anything! I restart it often but it only works for a few minutes :(

  • Merge acting odd. Merges image in front of some and behind others.

I use the Merge with background function A LOT and have never had an issue... until today.
Suddenly, when I select Merge (or CTRL + M) the image I am trying to merge is only 'partially' merging. Oddly enough it is being placed in front of one image on the slide and behind another image on the slide. Super weird.  I am expecting it to just place it in front of everything as it usually does.  I am dumbfounded.
I have combed thru the forum for an answer but I cant find an answer.
NOTE: I do NOT have "Use Master Slide Background" selected (.... and never have had it selected as I dont work with Master slides). I have also closed and reopened CP6 and rebooted my computer.

    Rod,
I do not have Master Slide Objects On Top selected either.
For now I am going to leave the image in the timeline to cover the old image but I still just dont understand why/how Master slides would have anything to do with why trying to merge the image is acting so strange.
I continues to place the merged clipart between other images that are part of the original slide... like a deck of cards and placing the merged image between two other cards.
Lilybiri - Do you have any suggestions on what I might do with Master Slides to get the Merge to function?
    Thanks

  • Where can I find the update to fix the problem with the trackpad acting up?

My trackpad has been acting up lately, with the arrow going everywhere by itself, and not being able to control it. I googled and found that it's a common problem for the 2011 Macbook Pros, and that Apple had released an update to fix the problem. Where can I find the update on the Apple site?

If an update is available, it will appear when you select Apple menu > Software Update...
But you should also read this support article:

  • Trackpad behaves oddly when firewire is used

All of a sudden my trackpad start to behave oddly when I have a firewire device connected. Specifically a MOTU Ultralite mk3 hybrid paired with a MOTU ultralite mk3 firewire. The problem started yesterday when I launch Logic Pro X. a minutes after the trackpad starts to be unresponsive and the pointer moving in wrong direction or jumping.
I tried to reset the PRAM with no luck. Even worst, when I tried to boot the macbook pro after rebooting the system freezes on the logo screen when the firewire port is used with that device. when I disconnect the firewire port the problem totally goes away.

    RE: Guiness (nee Harpoon) Solution
Perhaps it is now time for the Harpoon solution (aka the Guinness solution in the mid and far west)
for those not in the know:
    1. turn everything off.
    2. unplug firewire cables
    3. unplug power cords
    4. get up from well worn chair
    5. walk to refrigerator
    6. open refrigerator
    7. remove bottle of Harpoon (Guinness, local micro brew, etc)
    8. pop cap
    9. pour into glass ( you AREN'T going to drink it from a bottle, are you?)
    10. sip responsibly. enjoy the moment. think pure thoughts
    11. return to kitchen. If less than 15 minutes has elapsed, have another. Otherwise, retrurn to edit room.
    12. Plug everything back together
    12. fire up external monitors, VTR, external hard drives & computer in that order.
Does it work now? If yes, congratulate your self. If not, oh well, but at least you are in a much better frame of mind to begin some serious troubleshooting.
    cheerios,

  • MBP Mid 2010 Trackpad acting up after installation of Yosemite.

I recently Installed Yosemite and after installation my built-in trackpad now acts erratically. This include causing cursor to travel in directions that are in no way similar to gesture. Also clicking on words and showing def without being prompted to. Random gestures at random times.

    In Applications->Utilities  start  SystemInformation.
In the Hardware section of the navigation panel on the left, look at "Power" then look at  "health information": give us the 'Cycle Count' and "Condition".
(even if you don't think it has anything to do with your issue)

  • Magic Trackpad acting erratically

My trackpad started acting erractically today. Anytime I move it across the screen it selects and clicks everything in its path. It is extremely sensitive. I've checked the trackpad settings and it is not checked to be sensitive or to touch to click.
Any ideas how to fix this or is it a hardware problem that can't be fixed? I've since turned it off and am back on my Mighty Mouse.
    Using Late 2009 iMac. OS

There are a lot of us getting this problem Lance.
It looks as though OSX 10.8.2 broke something
Have had to take batteries out of Magic Trackpad now, because even after disconnecting it in Bluetooth Connection, it 'magically' reconnects itself then starts to do its 'magic' clicking all over the place.
Here's a fun thing to try... just hover your pointer over the close button of any open window then just walk away... right away form your computer... come back a few seconds later and the window will have been closed 'magically' for you by your misbehaving trackpad.
Very unlike Apple to introduce a fault like this and not fix it quickly

  • Magic Trackpad act funny

I have not seen any area for TrackPad support so this sections seems to me the next logical place to put this post.
Have my Magic TrackPad on a MacMini, believe it was JAn 2009. Everyonce in a while when I use it and move the pointer it selects and area. I sometimes cant get rid of the selecting mode. Tkes several tas. Also it moves wildly and it is difficult to select an item because it moves so erractically. I have it slowed way down in System Preferences. It will work for a while and then act frustrating erratic.
If someone can direct me to a solution it would be appreciated.

I do have a wireless Panasonic phone in the house. Though I don't use it now, I did have it configured so when I was in the house, my cell phone would also ring and visa versa. I don't know if that part of phone is still on. I also use this with the Apple Wireless Keyboard. Come to think of it, the original mouse used to do the same thing which is why I got the track pad. I use this all as my media server in the living room and the coffee table is glass so I had to use the optic mouse on a magazine. I figured that was part of this disfunction of the mouse. THe trackpad does work better but it still does the auto-select and erratic movement. It's hard to zero in on a button to choose if you know what I mean.

  • TRackpad acting wonky - any advice? constantly changing font size

New macbook pro in my lap right now, but the trackpad is acting strange...every time I try to use two fingers to scroll in an internet browser, scrolling doesn't happen and instead my font size changes.
Is there any way to lock my font size in my internet browsers?

This happened to me quite often, but it wasn't computer failure but human failure
The way I was leaving my hand on the laptop caused an extra finger on the trackpad and that confused the computer causing the fonts to grow and shrink depending on what I was doing. Perhaps this what is causing your issues.

  • My MBP has been acting odd since installing N wireless update.

Since installing the N wireless protocol on my MBP my machine has been acting weird. It fails to see wireless networks, the system preferences fails to open at times. OSX freezes, Force quit doesn't actually quit the programs after they have frozen. Basically its so bad i am thinking about re-formatting my machine and starting again, (its only a week old)
Am I the only one who has this?

    Well..that is a bummer....
I did notice something else, don't know if it makes sense or not, but if the mac crashes while connected to my Airport Express at home, the Airport Express stops responding and all of the clients that are connected to it stop getting access to the Internet until I unplug it and plug it back in.
When the issue first arose, I thought it was a problem with the AP express, but since it happens even more frequently when using other routers, I know that is not the issue. Besides, everything was fine until I installed the Wireless-N update. I wonder if there is any way to remove the update?
I'll keep playing with it, but hopefully they find a solution soon. Being that our problem is exactly the same, I would be surprised if no one else is having this issue as well.
