T510 Windows XP 64bit - Multi Card reader no longer working

Just installed XP 64 bit from XP 32 because i finally got tired of windows only recognizing 2GB of RAM.
I have just discovered the multi card reader no longer works (it worked just a few days ago with the 32 bit xp).
i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (6hss03ww.exe - Ricoh Multi Card Reader Driver) several times, with no luck.
i do not have any uninstalled drivers, or highlighted items in the device manager.
Has anyone else ever has this issue, or can offer some advice? i am a bit at a loss... and ready to dump this thing out the window and buy a mac...

Hello mate,
Lenovo doesn't support windows xp 64-bit. If you have a look in the readme file it says
Added support for Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (on ThinkPad
W510 only).
Install windows vista or 7 if you want a 64-bit OS.

I guess I made the mistake of updateing my iPad software during the last sync. Now I get a low power warning when I try to use the Yeti microphone. The SD card reader no longer works as well. was told that I could use a powered USB hub. This kind of kills the whole portability thing.

  • SD CARD READER NO LONGER WORKS after IOS upgrade. Help!

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get my sd card reader working again? My generation 1 iPad worked fine with it until I updated to IOS5. Today was the first time trying to upload pics since the upgrade. Nothing. Not even an error message. I rebooted and still nothing. SoTHAT was $30 well spent. So now, in order to get the pics onto my iPad, I am sending the pics to myself from my HP laptop, opening the emails on the iPad, and saving from there. The card reader used to work great for pics and videos. Gotta love it when upgrades make so I can no longer do before the "improvements." I would just return the camera kit/card reader, but I purchased it a year ago, so that bird has flown. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!

  • My CF card reader no longer works with OSX 10.9

I am a video editor, I shoot my content on a Canon XF-305 which creates MXF files on CF cards. Until I updated to OSX 10.9 everything was fine and I used to insert the CF cards into my Kingston FCR-HS3 USB card reader and then import/convert the footage accordingly. However since the OSX update I can no longer access my video footage on my Mac. The card reader constantly throws up a generic error message through finder that says 'disk not ejected properly' even though it is still plugged in. I've only managed to import a few seconds using pavtube MXF converter before it all goes wrong. I have used FCP X, Canon disk utility, and pavtube MXF converter - all are up to date with drivers and software and none of them work anymore!
Just to let you know I've contacted Apple and all they said is to check all drivers and software are up to date - which I have done, although Canon has not released any OSX 10.9 plug ins or drivers yet - which might be a problem.
Kingston does have a firmware update, but only for PC.
My thought's were to go back to OSX 10.8 but apple told me I had to use Time Machine for this and the last time I backed up was ages ago and I will lose too much important data.
    Someone please help???

Had the same problem with my Kingston FCR-HS3 Cardreader (FW 0123, bought Aug. 2012) when using it on my Macbook Pro Retina 2012 with MacOS Mavericks 10.9.1 on the USB 3.0 port. Trying it on my MacPro Early 2008 with MacOS Mavericks 10.9.1 on USB 2.0 port everything was okay.
When trying to update the firmware of my cardreader to version 0131 (on a Windows 8 notebook) which is only available for Windows, I had an error several times and could not update. After changing to another USB-Port on this notebook everything went okay.
Now my cardreader is working fine and I even notice a rise in transfer speed from 100 (before) to 120 MB/s when using fast CF-cards (600x or 1000x).

  • USB Card Reader no longer works after Lion update.

My USB card reader/writers no loger work since I "upgraded" to Lion 10.7.4. All was well with Snow Leopard, but with no built-in SD card reader I must rely on USB readers. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Are there updates avaiable or coming soon to resolve this issue?

Hi MissMedia 83 and welcome to the forums!!
This has been a trend that a lot of AppleCare advisors have been seeing as call drivers. Essentially, many of the USB internet modems that are used widely require a 32bit kernel to operate. In Snow Leopard, although the system was in 64bit by defauly, people had the option of booting the computer into a 32bit mode to use the USB modems successfully.
With Lion, however, no such options exists. If your USB modem device is only compatible with a 32bit machine, then your only options are to either downgrade to Snow Leopard or find a different provider that supports 64bit.
Sorry to be the bearer of crappy news. My suggestion is to use something like a pocket wifi or personal hotspot, where you have a wifi network that is being created by a small device that connects to the cell network. Much much easier and your computer thinks it's just a regular wifi network.
This is what I think the issue is anyway. Could be wrong.
    Any other suggestions?

  • [SOLVED]Laptop Internal SD card reader no longer working

Two weeks ago I purchased a Raspberry Pi and set up my own SD card with Arch Linux ARM using the directions at http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv6/raspberry-pi with the internal SD card reader on my laptop and had no issues.  Today I decided to load up a XBMC distro to a new SD card, but my internal card reader doesn't seem to autodetect or mount my new card.  I tried inserting my other card with Arch ARM that I know is a good card, but it no longer works with that card either.  Here are all my logs that I could think of to post for any advice:

It seems I have all the necessary information, but I am not sure where to go from here.  It's obvious my laptop is detecting the card being inserted and removed, but the card reader is never listed in /dev so I can't mount it.  It's listed under lspci but not under lsusb.  I'm assuming that it was two weeks ago and that's why it worked, but I'm not sure how to get lsusb to detect it so it will work again.  Thanks for any help you guys have.

  • SD card reader no longer works on iPad 3.

After I downloaded the 8.1.3 operating system onto my iPad 3, the iPad no longer recognized my SD card reader. The card reader is an Apple product, purchased at the same time as the iPad and has worked fine for the years I've had it. I have tried substituting another card reader accessory and another SD card. Same results.

  • Apple Lightning to SD Card Reader no longer working with iOS 8.0.2

I just tried to copy photos from my wedding to my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini w/Retina(both with iOS8.0.2), and I get the message "This device is not supported". I find this odd, as it is the official Apple branded SD card reader.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this would all of a sudden not be working? I had no issues prior to updating to 8.0.2.
If it is just this version of iOS, I do hope that it is fixed in 8.1.

  • CF Card reader no longer works on 10.4. It was working on 10.3

PCMCIA to CF Card reader was working on 10.3. Is not working on 10.4.
I have read all of the articles about it in the archives here, and apparently there is no answer or even suggested answer.
Inserting the Adapter with the card installed gets NO response from my powerbook since the upgrade to 10.4. All latest patches installed are to no avail, and I can read the CF to PCMCIA card on both my Microsoft Box and my other Apple (Not Tiger).
Since I use this method to look and edit pics catured on the card, this is not a satisfactory situation.
I am a little unhappy with no infromation being available on this as a repair.

If you are using a Lexar 32-bit CardBus Compact Flash Reader, you are SOL. Lexar indicated many months ago that they would not be updating drivers for 10.4 compatibility. It's always a good idea to verify hardware compatibility before upgrading your OS.
    Good luck!

  • Hp officejet pro 8600 multi-card reader problem

Have officejet 8600 printer/fax with multi-card reader.  All worked fine when wired to Apple computer before. Went wireless last week...set up router etc. All worked fine till I tried to load an sd camera card in the printer like i had done many times before.  Doesn't recognize the multi-drive...all lights start to flash..tells me i need to turn printer off/on to continue....NEVER does recognize the card reader!...
I remember there was an update from Apple that had to do with printer drivers on Oct.15th....could that be the problem or do I need to set something else because of the wireless setup?
The printer works fine otherwise....it does recognize the wireless connection for straight printing. I haven't tried the fax part yet.

  • Windows 7 update breaks Card reader, causes random crashes

    Hi All,
I have a Satellite A500/026 which came with Windows 7 64-bit. Recently, I have found that a) the Card reader no longer works, and b) right after booting, I get an error message indicating that a Toshiba software component has crashed. These symptoms both appeared after a Windows Update, but I can't be sure which one.
The card reader works OK if I boot a live Ubuntu CD, but won't work under Windows, so I assume the problem is with a Windows driver which has been 'updated' during a Windows Update.
Is there a set of Toshiba drivers I should re-install after a Windows Update, or do I just have to wait until Microsoft fixes whatever-they-broke in whichever-update-it-was-that-broke-it?
    Any other ideas?
    Leigh.

Try to roll back OS to previous time using system restore tool and see if this will fix the problem.
For Windows update use important updates only. Do not install options updates.
Roll back OS at first and send some feedback.

  • Search for a driver: Ricoh Multi Card Reader for Windows 8 - for my T61 (6463) -

    Hi!
    I`m searching for a Windows 8-Driver for my T61 (6463).
I have a Ricoh Multi Card Reader inside and I can`t find a driver for this one.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you,
    Heiko
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
    Try downloading the following driver:
Name:  Ricoh Multi Card Reader Driver for Windows Vista, XP
    Version:  3.54.02
    Date:  06 Mar 2008
    URL:  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-68053
The drivers will extract to a directory named "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\4IN1\", if I recall correctly.  Once extracted, run Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), go to the entry where the unrecognized card reader is located, and perform an update, using the "Have Disk" option and pointing it to the directory in which the drivers were extracted.
I do not recall if a reboot is required, but in any case I would recommend doing one, at which point you should then be able to see the card reader from Windows 8.

  • Cannot update Ricoh Multi Card Reader

    Hello All,
I was updating Ricoh Multi Card Reader drivers on my W520 and the installation was not successful: It installed the driver, asked to restart PC, then I saw a message "installing new drivers". After all, a message "unsuccessful installation - device unplugged" popped up. How can I plug it or switch it ON?
I even cannot see Ricoh drivers under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers'.
Any suggestions how to fix that?
    Thanks!

A very very good question. I will check to see what answer you get.
Drivers and updated drives as well as released BIOS upgrade should be certified and guaranteed to work. I have seen cases where that is not the case. This is a new on. I am currently holding off on my BIOS update since there is no response about the 1.41 release. I don't want to brick my MB accidentally.

  • Memory Card "Stuck" in A720 multi-card reader

This is an embarrassing situation. Really appreciate if someone can give me some idea.
I just got the A720 for a few days. I used SD cards fine with A720's multi-card reader, but last night when I (gently as with the SD cards) slotted in a regular Sony memory stick in it (6-in-1, accepting MS/ MS Pro), the whole stick moved beyond the opening and well into the slot. The A720 could detect the card and I immediately copied all the file into the HD and ejected it on Windows.
Now the memory stick  remains in(side) the card reader slot, and I dare not touch it further lest it goes further inside. Is this a design flaw? I was appalled and am frustrated by how this could have happened -- I actually used my little finger to slot the card in!. I bought the A720 mainly for photo post-processing.
Any idea I can get the stick out (and even better slot it in without the same happening again)? Thank you.

    Hi
    Welcome To Lenovo Community
There are various reason for a memory card to get stuck inside the card reader
Most common is the direction in which the card is inserted, size of the card also matters or any obstacle which is their inside the card reader.
Push a little harder on the card and it might pop out. The spring mechanism on the inside is designed to release once it is pushed past a certain point.
If this doesn't work, you need to force it out using a flat tool. To do so Turn off your system , Press  the Power Button for 15 seconds to drain out the remaining charge
Now use a  needle nose pliers, areal long thin one. And gently pull the memory card out.
You can also try using a paper clip apply  glue on the edge. Very tiny amount that won't drip push clip in and touch the back of the card. Wait until it is hard in about 15 secs and pull the card out.
if this does not work contact Local Lenovo service center , we need to open the card reader to remove the memory card
    Hope This Helps
    Cheers!!!
