T510 with discrete graphics and 65W AC adapter?

I realize the T510 + NVS 3100M comes with the 90W AC adapter.  What happens if you plug the smaller 65W adapter into the unit?

Not much...
Case 1, battery is full:
Everything will run fine.
Case 2, battery is empty:
Everything will run fine, too.
However, in this case the notebook might speed down and it will take a long, long, long time to recharge the battery.
Case 3, no battery inserted:
The notebook might speed down.
Also in Case 3 the notebook theoretically could shutdown without notice. (If it doesn't get enough power.)
So, if you do so, I'd encourage you to use a full battery and not to overload the notebook with work. (Meaning not to run OpenCL simulations or so when using the 65W adapter...)

  • Problem with discrete graphic card and DirectX 11

If I try any application to launch with discrete graphic card (nvidia geforce 740m) that using directx 11 it always crashes.
There no problems with directx 9 on on this graphic card.
There are no problems with integrated graphic card whether application using directx 9 or 11. Problem occurs only with discrete graphic card and directx 11.
    The things that i did:
    - Reinstall Windows
    - Install latest driver updates (I also tried to uninstall latest and install recomended driver downloaded from the oficial HP support 'driver download' web page)
    - different options on nvidia control panel 3d settings page
I also tried microsoft 'Direct3D Tutorial Win32 Sample' source code to build and debug. It is failed in function IDXGISwapChain:resent with code DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED and ID3D10Device::GetDeviceRemovedReason returns DXGI_ERROR_DRIVER INTERNAL_ERROR.
Is there any chance that is not hardware malfunction?

    @Enegue ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forum.  In your situation I would consider keeping with Directx 9.  The reason I say this is your notebook is not a performance gaming machine.  It is designed to be fore general use.
Some cards will notice issues when upgrading to direct 11 from a lower level.
Not to mention with your notebook you will want to stick with the drivers only provided from the HP support site.  They are proprietary for the notebook and could be the reason why the directx 11 is not working.
Here is the link to your systems supported drivers.

  • T500 with discrete graphics card availability

Im close to purchasing a T500 but have 3 questions.
1.) The T500 with discrete graphics no longer appears available on the canadian site. Can anyone confirm when it is likely to return?
2.) I want to get the keyboard change to the T61 (I have used the T500 keyboard and it is not fantastic) Can I order this when I place my order for the T500?
    Cheers
    Peter

    1) When you are in the advanced mini dock, the displayport is active, so is your VGA and DVI. I am using the displayport on the laptop driving a Dell U2410 at WUXGA resolution, and the DVI port on the dock is driving another Dell U2410 LCD.
However, if you have a switchable graphics card and you switch to intel gpu, then the dvi port on the dock is disabled, only the the vga would work.
    2) To your question of your the laptop's vga and displayport driving these monitors the answer is yes. The VGA on the T500 should be able to drive a WQXGA (not recommended as the picture quality is heavily degraded) and the displayport can also drive WQXGA.

  • Customize ThinkPad T400 with discrete graphics

In Customize ThinkPad T400 with discrete graphics, why the Display type didn't have the option of 14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ led Backlight, Camera ?
I just want to buy it.

That LCD option is most likely out of stock. As soon as the LCD panel is in stock, I'm sure the option will be made available for purchase.

  • Does the Advertised T410s with Discrete Graphics Exist?

On Lenovo's website (even on the purchase page) it says you can get a T410s with a Nvidia discrete graphics card, however I cannot configure one with that option. Does anyone have a link that shows the T410s with this option?
Maybe it will take them a month or so to get this option activated.
    Thanks All,

the ones with discrete graphics are "announced", but not "available" yet

  • 3.86GB usable with discrete graphic card????

    the system tells me
    memory: 4.00GB ( 3.86GB usable )
i have a discrete graphic card on my t510
and my system is 64 bits
    how can this be happened?

Yeah same here with my G555. In both XP and Win7 it says 3g with 2.7g usable. But I'm not sure if my GPU is dedicated or not? In XP it only shows 700mb. In Win7 it shows 256mb dedicated and can share up to 1.1g for a total of 1.4g. Weird to me. But I'm loving Crysis on high though.

  • Windows 8.1 freezes while booting up with discrete graphic card T520

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me here. If I use my discrete video card (nvs 42000m) to boot into windows, it will freeze on the sign in page or sometimes on the metro page however when Optimus is enabled it works just fine.
So I thought it was a driver issue. I went to Nvidia and downloaded their latest video card driver for windows 8.1. No help
Uninstalled that, went to Lenovo's support site and installed their recommended driver and all other windows 8 drivers. Again it would freeze
Booted into safe mode uninstalled that, turned optimus back on, and this time used Windows update to install my video drivers (intel and Nvidia both this time).
Didn't work. So I spent maybe another hour or so fiddling and after many restarts i finally found the culprit. It was the Lenovo monitor driver. As soon as I uninstalled that, everything worked fine and I could finally use my laptop with optimus disabled and discrete video card enabled.
Windows update keeps recommending me to update the monitor driver but if I do, then it freezes again so I'm just leaving it as the default generic monitor.
The reason why I made this thread is to inform and save potential users in the future who have a similar laptop to mine (t520 with hd 3000 and nvidia 42000m) with Windows 8 installed and they happen to choose to solely run their laptop with the discrete graphics card, remember to uninstall your monitor driver.
I am open to recommendations and other alternatives.

  • [GE60 OND] Strange issue with discrete graphics

    Specs:
    MSI GE60 OND
    CPU: Intel i7-3610QM
    Memory: 8gb
    discrete graphics: nvidia 660m
    OS: Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
Was having issues with laptop, i reformatted and updated all the drivers. still did not fix.
    The issue:
When playing games (tested on BL2, CSGO, The Forest, TF2) with the 660m it runs fine for about 5min then starts to freeze/stutter (both sound and video).  The FPS drops from around 120+ to around 20 for about 30seconds then snaps back to 120+ for another 30, then repeats.  This does not happen when using the integrated video.  Temps are staying in the 40-70c range.
    Thanks in advance!

  • RFC calls with SAP JCO and IBM resource adapter for SAP - basic tuning

    Hi experts,
we are working on a java portal connected to a backend system SAP by calling RFCs.
On our first integration tests, it appears to be quite slow fetching data from SAP by calling the remote functions from the custom portal. We are using SAP JCo 3.0.6 and IBM resource adapter for SAP 7.0.0.3 to integrate SAP with our portal.
Is there any basic tuning to achieve to improve performances or any hint of where to tune in SAP ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot,
    Jamal

    Hi Jamal,
I understand you have already checked performance issues in the SAP Server. We had some problems with certain RFC calls and it turned out to be a badly developed ABAP sentence.
I'd recommend you to use httpwatch or another tool to check the response times from the browser, so you can point accurately where the is.

    Hello
I have a task - To use one email address for several interfaces. In this case I think XI Message is the choice.
The question is How to tie payload and SOAP header?
Do I need to pass SOAP Header as mail message body and payload as mail attachent?

    hi,
    >>>>I have a task - To use one email address for several interfaces. In this case I think XI Message is the choice.
you can store the address anywhere
(in XI table, in R3 table)
and just get if from the mapping (via lookup)
and then put it in the adapter specific identifirers
    (THeaderTO field)
then mail adapter will use it

  • Help with merging files and calling SOAP adapter in BPM

    Hello All,
I have a scenario, where am merging a header file and item file and calling a webservice in ECC. The requirement is that the no. of calls to the webservice depends on the no. of lines in the header file. Mapping is developed according to this rule and the operation mapping is also set for multiple messages. Testing the mapping produces required results.
But when I run the scenario invoking BPM to merge the files with 2 lines in header records the webservice is called just once. On further analysis into SXMB_MONI_BPE, MESSAGES_OUPUT table in the mapping step has 2 messages. The instance ID of the message gone out shows a checkered flag with processed successfully status, but the second line is stuck in status "Transfer To Process Engine" .
Any thoughts what I should be doing to push second message out automatically.
    Prashanth

    Hi Prashanth,
to find out what has happened to the message try checking the workflow log,
i.e., select the message with the 'Transfer to Process Engine" status in SXI_MONITOR and drill down in the outbound PE column.
Once in the workflow log select 'List with Technical Detailsu2019'.

  • T510 with docking station and SD-8821 external keyboard - stupid Fx key settings

So I have a 510.  Its running XP Pro.  It is attached to a docking station and I have an SD-8821 external "slim" keyboard pulgged in.
My problem is the row of function keys along the top.  I need to use F1 through F12 often in my work, the keys are set to control stuff like volume, sleep, lock, etc.  In order to get the Fx function, I have to press the Fn key first.
I have scoured the internet and there seems to be a an app to change this but my notebook does not have it.  I cannot find it on the Lenovo web site either.  How do I get it?  This is driving me nuts.

  • T510 w/ NVIDIA NVS 3100M -- Window 7 not recognizing discrete graphics card

    Hi --
I just got a T510 w/ discrete graphics card, ie, the NVIDIA NVS 3100M w/ 512mb of dedicated video memory.
However, when I look in "Performance Information and Tools" under the "View and print detailed performance and system information", I see the graphics as "Intel(R) HD Graphics". Under the "Graphics" section I see this:
    Graphics
    Display adapter type
    NVIDIA NVS 3100M
    Total available graphics memory
    1696 MB
          Dedicated graphics memory
    64 MB
          Dedicated system memory
    0 MB
          Shared system memory
    1632 MB
    Display adapter driver version
    8.17.12.5738
    Primary monitor resolution
    1920x1080
    DirectX version
    DirectX 10
This is a bit confusing, because now it says the adapter is NVIDIA, but the dedicated memory is only 64 MB. Seems odd as I should have 512MB?
    Thanks

I'm fairly certain you can force Optimus to be discrete only or integrated onlyin the BIOS or in some of the Power Manager settings. Otherwise, you can try loading DirectX and seeing what dxdiag tells you about your graphics card.
In addition, Lenovo's implementaiton of Optimus seems to allow you to run certain programs on the IGP and other programs on the discrete chip simultaneously, so it may simply be allocating the Windows benchmark thread to the IGP instead of the NV chip, thereby causing the flawed readings. Don't know exactly how one forces a process to run using the discrete GPU though.
