T520 a lot of unknown devices

Hello,
I have T520 laptop, and device  manager shows me a lot of unknown devices (~50).
If I try to update driver of any of them, then I got the message:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
siFilterIP GigE Vision Filter Driver
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service
This is not a big deal, but it irritates me.

Yes, you are right. I guess this should be a device in the laptop, that can receive a video stream from a network attached camera. I never connected such a camera directly to my computer, but I suppose I could connect my laptop to a network, which has one. Do you think this could be a problem? Now I start wondering, if my laptop is supposed to have such a device that can receive a video stream from network? If not, then situation is weird. Also I have VirtualBox installed, and it adds some network interfaces to host. Maybe this is some feature of VirtualBox, so I could stream video from my webcam to virtual machine? I should investigate this.

  • Ipod Touch not being recognised/unknown device

Ipod Touch not being recognised - help!?
    It says it's a code 43 - Unknown device/device not recognised. Doesn't sound good.
Tried all of the things the itunes website suggested such as of course turning it off and on again, restarting services, reinstalling itunes. I know from experience that when you take it in to the shop they want to charge you almost as much as you bought it for to fix a minor problem. Thanks

    Hi,
Reinstalling iTunes *will not* erase your music library.
As a matter of course I do, and in fact Apple recommend that you back up your music library, there is an option to do this under "File" in iTunes. It is really quite sensible to have your purchased and other music files saved elsewhere as well as on your main hard drive, it can save a lot of time and hassle.
    Good luck,
    Dud.

  • Work-around to "unknown device" problem

I found a work-around to the "unknown device" problem, a pain to do, but much less painful than any alternatives I've found so far.
In my case, I can connect my Ipod one time. After I eject it, if I reconnect, I get the Unknown Device error. That's where this work-around comes in.
There is an INF file (a Windows hardware configuration file) in the Windows\INF directory that has a name that will be specific to your computer. Once you determine that file, you need to re-install it. Re-installing it allows the Ipod to be recognized the next time it is connected. These are the steps:
    1) Determine the file name on your computer. You only need to do this one time, and then remember the name. Using Regedit, navigate to HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-44455354 0000}. Then do an Edit / Find for "ipod" without the quotes, making sure that "Data" is checked and "Match whole string only" is not checked. It should find "Apple iPod USB Driver" in the "DriverDesc" value in one of the sub-keys. There will be another value called "InfPath". The data for that is the file name for the INF file on your computer. On my computer it is oem51.inf. It will be something like that on yours.
    2) In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Windows\Inf and find that file. In addition to "oem??.inf", there will be an "oem??.pnf" (same numbers), which is a binary version of the .inf file. Delete that file, or rename it if you prefer. If it exists, step 3 will not work.
    3) Right click on the .inf file and select Install. The computer will chug for a few seconds. The .pnf file should reappear and, more importantly, your iPod should now be able to connect one time. At least it does for me.
I hope that Apple puts out a fix for this problem sometime soon. Meanwhile, doing steps 2 and 3 every time I want to connect is annoying, but bearable.

I would like to apologize for posting this message. I promise that it did work and did seem to be the solution at the time I posted it, but it helps me no longer. My Ipod was recognized several consecutive times after I posted this with no work-around, but then it became an unknown device again, and there it stays, seemingly forever.
I am a highly skilled and experienced Windows system programmer, and this has me stumped. I apologize for any time that my message may have wasted for others. I have also tried every other solution that has been posted here and elsewhere, and none work.
I would recommend that Apple pay me a lot of money to find and fix this problem. Short of that, they should pay someone else to fix it. To have this many fatal problems for so many people should be considered unacceptable. Until a fix is available, I shall just be happy that I got as much onto my Ipod as I did before it became unavailable.

    Hi Simpleguy,
    Welcome to the forum!
In thinkpads, it's usually intel chipset driver. For AMD based G555, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the driver you need:- http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_2476.html
As for other unknown device, find it's PCI ID with any other known information and paste here.

  • CA-42 Cable Unknown Device

    Hi All,
I've installed PC suite 6.6 but when I connect my CA-42 USB cable my PC says unknown device which doesn't have any drivers.
The Nokia site says that for XP users PC suite has the drivers included and will be installed automatically.
I've tried installing the drivers again by themselves but I get the response that there already installed.
I'm not sure if my cable may be faulty but have no way of proving this first so I'm trying all other options first before looking at getting another.
I'm on Windows XP SP2, PC Suite 6.6 using a CA-42 USB serail cable.

  • Unknown Device Lacie Firewire DVD+/-RW

I have a Lacie dvd+/-rw 8X4X12 F A Porsche firewire that my mini won't recognize. Profiler say's its an unknown device. I had it working when I got it this summer, with panther, but remember it being a pain it the harddrive to install.
None of the software finds it including iDVD, Toast, and I tried patch burn today. Nope nothing. Tried the firmware update too. Seems to work OK with windows. I haven't needed it with Tiger and now I do.
Fairly new to Mac so please help.

The firewire bus reports it as an unknown device and gives it the standard firewire atributes of 400mbps. I can be more accurate if thats what you need but I am not on the mini at the moment. It is not listed under disk burners.
I have a lot of other equipment running through a router thing(?) including a Hard drive, Audio in/out device, and sometimes a Mini DV. None seem to have a problem. I tried the Lacie solo at least once, nothing. Also, since I posted I tried Lacie's utilities again and still nothing, although the firmware updater mentions a dvdrw in parenthases, but doesn't need to update it.
    It's a mini nightmare alright.

  • Unknown devices z60m

    Unknown device on other Devices
    FN+ Hibernate not working
    Fn+ Easy Eject Not working
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi sajimathew,
Could you please provide some more info about your computer and OS like what Windows version do you use and is it 32 or 64 bit? What is the model/type of your z60m? You should find a sticker under the computer in the format "xxxx-yyy" where the X is 4 numbers and the Y is numbers and letters (for example 4328-3EG). Do NOT post your serial number in public, i'm only asking for the model number.
Did you clean install Windows using a standard windows installation CD/DVD or did you use a Lenovo recovery CD/DVD set?
For the Fn + function key to work you need to install the hotkey features software. The other unknown devices is probably some missing drivers because you did a clean install.
I would recommend that you download Lenovo system update that will give you a list of drivers and lenovo software for your computer and it will give you the option to download and install all the drivers as well as other Lenovo software. That will save you a lot of time and work compared to downloading and installing each driver manually. You also have the option to deselect a driver or lenovo software if you don't want everything.
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/tvsu-update.html
Version 4.0 is for Windows 7 only while 3.14 is for XP and Vista. After using system update and if there still are some missing drivers or features that won't work you could reply to this thead asking for further help. In case of missing drivers it's helpful if you include the hardware ID which you can find by doubleclicking the device in device manager, select the details tab and select hardware IDs from the dropdown box.

  • [Helix gen2] Clean Install of Windows 8.1 - one unknown device left

    Hi,
I did a clean install of win 8.1 with the suggested procedure (System Updater, Solution Center)
Unfortunately, there is one unknown device left in the device manager:
Intel(R) Serial IO SPI Host Controller - 9CE5
    ACPI\VFSI6101\1
which I thought could be solved by this driver:
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-helix-series-laptops/thinkpad...
But without success. So could anyone help? Which is the right driver? Or what should I do?
    Thx Ralf

Good day and welcome to the community.
I found a few vague references of VFSI6101 being related to a Validity Fingerprint Sensor.
Looking at the Helix Gen2 driver pages: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-helix-series-laptops/thinkpad...
and specifically at the FPR software package page:
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-helix-series-laptops/thinkpad...
there's a reference to: "Synaptics FP Sensors(WBF) VFS6101". Pretty close!
So you might try that to see if it clears up the orphaned device.
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • Vista Ultimate on Equium A100 - 2x "Unknown Devices"

Equium A100-306 with XP Media Centre Edition.
Stickered as Ready so done clean install of Vista Ultimate (x64).
Now I have 2 "Other Devices" in Control Panel.
Did have 3, as Mass Storage Controller was in there too!
There is an x64 TI xx21 version that does not work, available from Download Centre.
Anyone know how I can track/identify the devices &/or the missing drivers?
Used DriverMax and online Update Driver but nothing shows.
PLUS - anyone knowledgeable about the A100-306 with T5500 duo proc......
Is this a true 64 bit device or is it a 32 bit system running a 64 bit processor?
I have x64 Vista loaded which should show 4Gb or more, but it still reads 3062Mb.
Having read lots, I find that some people differentiate between system and processor capability, others do not.
Is it possible to have a 64bit processor in a 32bit system?
Why has this issue not been solved?
If it is a 32bit system, why should we bother putting x64 OS on it?
Confused on this so any help would be great.
    Yep! I have latest BIOS.
Oddly enough, I did get XP_MCE to show 4GB RAM immediately after BIOS upgrade.
Finally, Thanx to everyone who has asked (& replied to) all those other questions I had.
I came, I searched, I got the answer.......
Just the above to sort & I'm a v. happy bunny.

Please not that the Toshiba Vista 64bit drivers are not available on the Toshiba page and therefore some unknown devices can appear in the device manager because of the not installed drivers!!!
    > anyone knowledgeable about the A100-306 with T5500 duo proc...... Is this a true 64 bit device or is it a 32 bit system running a 64 bit processor
Intel Core2 Duo Mobile T5500 is known as a Merom/64Bit CPU.
    > Is it possible to have a 64bit processor in a 32bit system?
Yes, the CPU supports 64bit OS and 32bit OS
    > If it is a 32bit system, why should we bother putting x64 OS on it?
You can install everything what you want but the question is if you will get all the right drivers

  • Unknown device seen by HH4 and allocated static IP...

    I'm setting up a new HH4.
In the list of home network devices it shows an 'unknown' device.  It seems it's a wireless device (connected through an access point; the AP tells me it's connected there).  I have no idea of what the device is.  On looking at its properties on the HH manager, it seems it's been allocated a 'static' IP address, within the normal DHCP range.  All my other devices show 'IP address assignment: DHCP' where this one shows 'Static'.
Any idea why this device would have been allocated a static address?  As far as I know, this is something I could configure the HH's DHCP server to do (but I haven't); I don't think it's something that the device itself can request.  So how does this come about?  I'm hoping this information will help me figure out what this device is.
    Phil
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Lots of my devices have registered as 'unknown' initially, then I've been able to identify them (using the MAC address, for example) and change the name.  But all these have been allocated addresses using DCHP (as I would expect).  What's odd about this is that (a) I still can't identify it and (b) it's been allocated a static address.  If I understood the reason for (b) I might be able to solve (a).

  • Ipod nano "unknown device"

I have just bought an ipod nano 4.0GB, and my computer doesn't recognize it, it says "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windowns does not recognize it."..In my device manager it shows as "unknown device", and no driver is installed...for what I've been researching, it seems to be happening a lot with Dell computers... I tried everything Apple support site says, and still no change, I even tried what other postings say, like reseting the ipod pressing the center whell and menu button...or even turning it to disk mode, I get the message, OK to disconnect...
    Can anyone help?
    Appreciate it

This is a comman error with many Windows XP Users. I myself had encountered it but fixed it with ease . You have to Reset your ipod and Get the Latest Ipod UPDater Software.
    To Reset your IPOD_
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
After that Plug it in to the computer with the LATEST IPOD UPdATER SOFTWAre from this site.
