T520 -- Connecting to a Plasma TV

I would like to display my computer on a Panasonic Viera TC-P50ST30. I am wondering what cable I need to accomplish this.
My computer has a "monitor connector" on the side which looks like a regular monitor connector that laptops have had forever.
It also has a connection the user manual calls a "display port connector". I have no idea what this is.
As for the TV--I am attaching screenshot from it's manual.
What kind of cable should I ask for at the store in order to be able to connect my computer to the TV?
Thanks!

To get best possible connection you need DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable. You connect DisplayPort side of cable into DisplayPort on your T520 (it's located on the left side) and HDMI side of cable to your TV (marked as circled A next to "Best" in your PDF). Such cable cost US $8 to $11 delivered on eBay or Amazon. Both video and audio signal will be passed to your TV this way.

  • Connecting Mac to Plasma TV via VGA Cable

I just got a VGA cable to connect my MacBook Pro (2009) to my Plasma TV. When I did, my screen on my MacBook looked like it went into a ZOOM mode where everything was bigger than normal and did not fit on the screen. Is this normal or is there a way to fix that? I did adjust my TV to landscape mode to view my open application.
    Suggestions?

Open System Preferences/Displays and see what both screens now offer for resolution options, set them both to the best sizes for your intended use. You may have to click the Options Tab then 'Overscan' on the TV panel.

  • Connecting to a plasma tv...

Hi there, I just bought a Panasonic Viera plasma tv and I would like to connect it to my iMac G5. I would like to use the HDMI slots in the tv as this is how I could get the best possible quality. Thanks for any help....

He could always buy a new Apple 802.11n Airport Express (when they are announced) so he would have something with which to broadcast to his new iTV box. So figure only $299 for the iTV receiver and another $149 for the Apple gigabit wireless router that would be necessary.
To be honest, almost any good gigabit wireless router should work, but 802.11n is really new and not a frozen standard yet. That means different brands of routers and receivers may not play well together. That long DVI cable thing is looking better and better.

  • Lenovo G450 - Want to connect VGA to Plasma TV with HDMI inputs

    Hello Community
I was hoping to get some verification on this from someone that owns a Lenovo G450 Model 2949. I want to understand if I can connect this notebook to my older plasma TV through the VGA output connector. My TV supports S-video, HDMI and Component. Can I purchase any one of those types of VGA to S-video/HDMI/Component connectors and it will work? Will there be any loss of quality when you push the laptop video signal onto the television?
Here's one off amazon for a VGA to HDMI converter:

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    Welcome to the forums
The quality of the display would remain like a normal vga connection as your laptop does not support hdmi/no hdmi port. So it is better hooking up via a vga cable.

  • Connect to a Plasma TV

Hi, I am connecting my MacBook to an Plasma Tv with an s-video cable, but the image is not fulling the screen, its boxed all arroud like 3 inches, please help me
    thanks
    sorry for my english

Did you try any other resolution choices in System Preferences? IF you Plasma has a spare HDMI input with a separate audio input, I would agree with the other poster that you should consider going that route rather than using s-video.

  • Connecting to a plasma

I wish to connect my 15" PB to a Panasonic TH-42PWD8 (825x480) plasma, do I
    A) Connect using VGA adaptor supplied wih the PB to the VGA input on the plasma
    B) connect using a DVI cable to a DVI-D input board I will need to purchase for the plasma (£150)
Am I going to get a better picture by spending the £150 needed to use DVI - on paper I might but is it noticeable

At 825x480, I'd save my money and run from the VGA connector. That is going to be such a low video frequency that pixel rise/fall times should barely enter into the equation in the A-to-D conversion, hence the quality would be nearly identical, I'd expect, between VGA and DVI.

  • Connecting imac to plasma

Hi, i was hoping someone could help me, i have an imac core duo and i want to connect it to my 42" samsung plasma, the plasma is not hd, what sort of cable would i need to connect. Any help would be great.
    Thanks

Your new iMac has a mini DVI out port. You need to at least get an Apple mini DVI to (standard) DVI adapter. Then (if your Plasma TV has an actual DVI connector) all you would need is a DVI cable. I'm guessing it has an HDMI port (which less than an inch long and really thin, vs. a true DVI port which has a lot of pin holes in it just like/is-identical-to the port on the back of a flat panel computer screen), so you would also want a DVI to HDMI connector or to buy a cable with an HDMI connector on one end and DVI on the other. Your TV MIGHT have an HDMI adapter that came with it.
I connect to my HDTV plasma just fine with that Mini-DVI to DVI connector->DVI cable->DVI to HDMI connector solution. The only thing you miss by connecting that way is there is no sound sent to the little speakers in your TV through the DVI to HDMI adapter.

  • ESATA/USB-Combo-Port on T520 connect to external Harddrive case

    Hello.
I have a eSATA/USB-Combo-Port on a T520. I think there are cables to connect a 2,5" Harddisk direct to the Port with only one cable for eSATA and Power.
I am looking for an external case for a 2,5" Harddisk that have a USB-Port (to connect to other Computers) AND a Port for my eSATA/USB-Combo-Port.
Does anyone know where to buy a suitable Case?
I Want to connect the Disk to my T520 using the eSATA speed (with one cable) with the option to connect it to other computers who only have USB 2.0.
    Thank you very much.
    Jens

    Hi Jens,
I haven't thought to look for one of those before.  Is this the kind of thing you're after?

I think eSATAp is the key here, if I understand your question.
[edit] the 1st link is an eSATAp only cable, so it doesn't help with your "other computer" connections.

  • Using Monster iTV Link to connect to 42" Plasma

    I have a 12' G4 iBook bought in October 2003.
I want to use the Monster iTV Link cable to play DVDs from te iBook and display them through my Panasonic Viera 42" Plasma TV.
Are there any issues I should be aware of, or is this a straightforward
    process?
Any advice at all would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kieran

Check out the resolution of your plasma. As i can assume it is wide screen... Also try to connect it via regular monitor cable. Besides this adapter goes with your laptop. It will be much better. DO NOT FORGET THAT YOUR iBook IN STANDARD MODE COULD WORK WITH EXTERNAL TV OR MONITOR IN MIRRORING MODE ONLY. To unlock possibility to work in extended desktop mode you could use SSD (Screen Spanning doctor). Suggesting you to use it as resolution of your laptop monitor and plasma is different.
Ask if something is not clear.

  • Connect t42 to external plasma by the VGA connector

    Hello
I have T42 type 2373 - when I connect the VGA cable that connected to a plasma TV I can not see clearly on the screen, only dots and lines. There is the display card - ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500
I try to upgrade the driver but nothing change.
Can anybody know this problem - I need it urgent today - we have a presentation.
    Liora

Near as I can figure is maybe you can use an HDTV to analog TV converter on the HD port or as I said a VGA to TV converter. Normally a card with TV out function will have a S-Video port/jack. If it had analog TV out function you would find it somewhere in the NVIDIA control panel.
If anyone else can provide more info it's your turn.

  • IMac video through AV amp to Plasma?

Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the following problem I'm having.
First of all the kit I'm using:
Intel Core Duo 2 iMac (17 inch),
    Denon AVR-1906 AV Receiver,
    Panasonic PWD8 42' Plasma,
Apple mini DVI to VGA adapter,
    VGA to Component Video Lead.
I'm trying to connect my iMac to the Denon AV amplifier to feed the video signal out of the iMac via the mini DVI to VGA to the component-in on my AV receiver then to my plasma.
So far I'm drawing blanks as when I connect the mini DVI to VGA adapter to my iMac, the iMac isnt seeing a display as connected (even though its connected at the other end to my AV receiver which is on and connected to my plasma).
Anyone know if this works or should I just remove the AV amp from the connection and go straight from the iMac to the plasma (which I know works)?
    Thanks!

Thanks for that, that makes sense, the more I think about them ore I think its not going to work.
As the VGA cable connected to the iMac (via DVI) is using only 3 of the D sub pins (one for red, green and blue) there's no way of the iMac detecting that there is a display connected.
Unless of course I can 'fool' the iMac into thinking something is connected, maybe at a software level. is this possible?

  • T520 won't operate with Droid Razr M Hotspot

I have tried a Click Away computer repair, Verizon and Motorola support but to no avail.
My T520 will not operate with my Droid Razr M hotspot.  The hotspot works with other computers.  The
T520 works with other hotspots.  With the Droid Razr M, the T520 connects , sometimes has internet access for a short while, then no internet access.  Most times it is no internet access from the start but the connection is made.
I have upgraded the driver for the Realtek 1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card, no change.
My other computer is an Ideapad Y550.  The hotpsot works fine with this.  I have no problem with my home Wifi
operating with the T520 either.  I have spent hours by myself and with others and have no other ideas. HELP!!
Click Away - could get other cell phone Wifi to connect with T520.  They thought the Droid Razr M was rejecting the
connection to the T520 due to a MAC ID flagged as bad by the phone.  Explained this to Verizon but they didn't pursue this.
Verizon - Opened a ticket to look into it and after a week still had no response. Customer agent that answered my call to follow up on open ticket said their network people didn't find anything operating incorrectly, thus no call.  Called 611 and phone person tried clearing cache and then resetting different settings to see if could get connection.
Motorola - tried extensively to test different setups, took over control of phone and did a lot I didn't follow,  ended running through different specified Broadcast channels ( rather than auto) to see
if that would allow internet access.  Their conclusion is that T520 is an incompatibility with the phone.

You can't. iPad Bluetooth does not support it.

  • Dvi trouble with plasma tv 42"

    Hello to everybody,
Finding somebody with experience on connecting AppleTV to a legacy 42" TV like mine.
I Just bought a new Apple TV (3th gen.), and tried to connect to my Plasma 42” with DVI digital input (not HDMI)
    o   Plasma details: Bluesky/Firstline FS4205PT , it’s not HD Ready, just EDTV (480p), year 2006.
o   DVI connection works fine with every computer I tried: PC laptop, my Mac Mini mid 2010, etc.
    -          When starting Apple TV (those 20 seconds with just the apple logo in the screen), the picture is perfect.
    -          But when going to the main screen, the picture flicks all the time.
    -          If I try to change Video resolution of ATV to 480p 60hz (the Tv’s native resolution), it seems to do it, but the picture flicks in the same way.
    -          I tried everything in ATV: all the resolutions (with the menu-up keys at starting) restart, recover, init… and nothing helps.
    -          I also tried two different HDMI-DVI cables. (those cables works perfect with computer)
    -          Talking with Apple Support by phone for a hour, they asks me for replace to another ATV, or returning back my money on the shop.
What do you think about this?
I just read some messages in this forum about “the HDMI-DVI works on some TV’s, and don’t works on some others..”, because of HDMI handshaking and/or HDCP compatibility issues.
Thank you very much in advance
    regards from Barcelona
    Carlos.

Wow, thanks for that info. I had no idea, though I was suspicious that my TV had something to do with it. So does everyone with a plasma just have to live with it? Or is there a workaround?
What does the APL do? Prevent burn in? I know that I can change my video to night/day/dynamic etc and adjust individual stuff within each preset, but I don't think I've seen anything to turn it off.
Is it safe to run my plasma when the APL automatically dims? Or is it trying to tell me something? If it were to actually display the levels at full brightness, would it be damaging the screen?
I guess its probably just trying to protect my screen, but the result is a little disappointing. Oh well, I guess I'll just use it for videos and stuff, and not so much for web surfing. Unless anyone has any other ideas.
    Thanks!
