T530 multiple display in dock, single without dock

Hi
I have a problem with dispplay settings on my T530 with nvidia 5400m. If i Boot the computer in the docking with lid closed I get two displays (fine!). If I boot the computer with lid open in dock i get all black screens (three) but i can move the mouse in between the screens. (all three are acting as thre individuals, no clones) If i boot without dock it also appears as a black screen. However here I can go into bios and change to intel graphics card and then it displays and works on the integreated display.
So I probably need a way to change the settings for undocked devise using nvidia so that I donæt need to access BIOS in order to make it work.

although i cannot find this 2429CTT on lenovo site anywhere, is available for selling on a known european supplier.
and my propose is to have 2 Monitors connected, so I'll follow this inquire very closely and hold my order until then.
do you have any update on it?
just by curiosity, what about the rest? how does the PC feels to you? everything else is working?

I have a Lenovo T530 2429CTT and I am having some trouble when trying to set up my multiple display configuration with a Lenovo ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3.
I have an external Samsung LCD monitor which is connected to the Mini Dock via DisplayPort.
I am running Win 7 Prof.
The problem I see is with an application which uses DirectX. The display looks fine in the following configuration:
- Laptop open
- External Samsung LCD Monitor on
- Display cloned so that both devices show my desktop
The issues appear when I close the laptop. I do this because in my office I only work with the external monitor so I don't need the internal display of the laptop at that moment.
When I close the laptop the following happens:
The external display gets dark for some seconds. It comes up again, gets dark and after a while (maybe 10 sec) it stays active. Sometimes I see a notification that the color scheme has changed to Win 7 basic.
Everything seems to be fine now but when looking at the DirectX based display of my application I have some problems for example with the refresh (the display looks very weird).
BTW: The laptop has an internal and an external graphic card (Internal: Intel HD 4000, External: NVIDIA NVS 5400M).
So it seems as when the laptop gets closed, the internal graphics will be turned off. Due to this the display on the external monitor also changes the settings of the graphhic card (maybe it gets turned in an energy saver state).
I was looking at many of the NVIDIA settings without any success so hopefully somebody in this forum has an idea what is happening there.

T530 multiple display configuration

I have the T530 with the NVIDIA Optimus option that should allow a triple display configuration (two external displays and the laptop LCD).
I have been able to get a working configuration with the laptop LCD and two external displays over DisplayPort through the docking station.
I have found that upon some boot cycles, I am either stuck with just the laptop LCD as the only display or I am able to turn on only one external display. Sometimes a reboot will change it, sometimes it will not.
What's strange is that the NVIDIA control panel and the Windows display settings show all three LCDs, I am just not able to turn on one or both of the external displays (even if I turn off the laptop LCD).
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

There are updates available for both your BIOS and Optimus that may help this issue. The BIOS update can be found here and the Optimus update can be found here. Looking over the ReadMe for the Nvidia update, part of the update does help with issues connected to multiple displays through docking stations so it may help.

T530 multiple displays with dock

I've got a new T530 Lenovo ThinkPad, with a Mini Dock Series 3. I've found spec's online that explicetly state that this combination supports two external monitors from any two of the multiple video ports on the dock. I've attached monitors to the VGA and DVI outputs, but only one of them will work at a time.
I've verified that I have the latest BIOS update.
I've found numerous posts in the forums with similar problems, but so far I haven't found any with a definite solution.
Any help would be appreciated.

W540 - 4k monitor at 60hz without dock possible?

I am having issues using my Phillips 288p 4k monitor with my W540. It runs at 4k resolution, but only at 30hz. I have read a few threads on the forums which suggests it will display 4k at 60hz using the Ultra Dock, but I was wondering if there was a way to force the GPU to display it at 60hz without the dock?

IIRC, the W540 drives the onboard external ports with the Intel card instead of the NVIDIA card. Intel's notorious for locking out custom resolution and timing settings, so you're probably out of luck.

Writing multiple arrays to a single xml file at seperate times without overwriting the previous file?

Hi my name is Dustin,
I am new to labview and teststand... I am trying to right multiple arrays of data to a single xml file. I can do this with a cluster but I have to create a variable for each of those arrays (21 arrays) and I was hoping to use the same variable for each array. Meaning I obtain my array of data write it to an xml file then replace that array in that variable with a new array and then call up my VI that writes that array to an xml file and write it to the same xml file underneath the first array without overwriting it. Attached is my VI I created to write an array to an xml file. Again I am wondering if there is a way to write multiple arrays to a single xml file at different times without overwriting the previous xml file.

i am trying to insert multiple rows using a single insert statement like the below one.
The below one works fine..
But is there any other change that can be done in the below one without using dual...

Traveling Abroad, Lost Iphone, Can I use a new one without docking to my computer back home?

Hello, I am traveling in Thailand and lost my Iphone. I would like to buy a new one but am concerned that I can't use it without docking it to my computer which is back in the USA. I am currently not under contract with any carrier, so new one will be an Unlocked Thai one. Can I buy one in Thailand and still get new apps? Also, can I add music from a different computer then the one I registered it on? I have no timeline for returning home and kinda need my Iphone for all sorts of stuff!!! Thanks a lot!

It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
Rather than buying a MacBook Pro to replace your MacBook you can just get a bigger hard drive. You can get a 1tb drive for around $100 and they are easy to replace in a MacBook.

Wired Magnetic Charger without Dock

Hi Sony Users, recently I bought wired Magnetic Charger without Dock from an online shopping portal. It just looks like an USB charger, except the fact that instead of USB pin, its magnetic one (it doesnt have a Dock). I just want to know whether this product is genuinely from Sony. Because in Sony website, under accessories section - I couldnt find such kind of product and the product came in Genuine Sony Product package.

They work just as good as the magnetic dock, although, I've read other user's comments and its a hit on miss

I'd like to keep the display on when it's docked, but I can only set it for 30 seconds max. Is there any way round this?

Hey,I have an issue with the WEBI reporting.I have a data source that has multiple columns say ( month1, month2, month3, month4,.....month 12, month 13, ....month24) with the sales data for each month.Now say I call the month 1 to month 12 as "current year", and call month 13 - month 24 as "previous year".I want to put a prompt in the report which allows me to select between "current year" and "previous year".Based on the prompt value we get a graph of the sales vs month ....as in if we select "current year", then we get a graph of the sales Vs time( remember that the sales data for each month is in a different column.)and if we select "previous year" then we get a graph of the sales Vs time for previous year..( sales vs time for Month 13, month 14, month 15....month 24).I am not able to pull data from multiple columns into a single object that I can use to populate the graphs.Any help on the same will be appreciated .

How do I get the menu bar to appear on multiple displays without mirroring displays?

I keep finding things about the new Yosemite update that I do not like. The most recent is that apparently you can't have a menubar on multiple displays, unless you mirror the displays. This does not work for me. I want to keep my thunderbolt display as my primary display, but I am working in photoshop on my Cintiqu and I can't afford to drag my mouse all the way back to the thunderbolt display every time I need to access the photoshop menu.
Is there some sort of fix for this that I'm not seeing?
If not I sincerely hope that the apple engineers fix this ASAP.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Multiple displays, great. single display tricky in Mavericks.

I bought a new external display to work on a MacBook Air through Thunderbolt but when I close the lid of the MBA the display goes black / sleeps. I've reset the SMC and it worked until shut down, and upon restart was back to going black. I can get it to work with the MBA open and use multiple displays but this is not what I want to achieve or have the desk space for.
Does anyone else have the same issue or even have a solution?
I'd be interested to hear anything.

for a Mid 2010 model, you’ll need to use something like the Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Mac Edition multi-display adapter with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter to connect your current display. If your current display or your second display has a DVI input port, then no additional adapter would be needed.

Spaces with Multiple Displays

I have been using Spaces with my MacBook with an external display, without mirroring to extend my desktop. Overall, it works really well and has certainly made things less hectic when I have 1-8 windows open per application and up to 5 applications.
One thing I figured out by playing is that you can have windows from the same application in different spaces. For example, I have FireFox open with three windows, and can position one FF window in each of three spaces. The only way to do this that I have found is to drag the individual windows from the Spaces view (F8), but it's really useful for me to have web-pages organized by Space (personal, work, Google, etc.). By the way, if I shut down FF or restart the machine, the windows do not "remember" which Space they were in, which is not surprising to me. I assume that is a limitation of FF, not OS X.
Now here is the issue/problem I have experienced several times: Every so often, I will completely "lose" one or more windows. For example, I have two FF windows open in Space 4, then upon switching to another space and going back to Space 4, the windows are gone. They still show up in the list of FF windows (from the "Windows" menu in FF itself), so I think they are still open, but it's like they were assigned to Space 0 or something. There is no way to get to them or bring them back that I have found. There is also no good explanation for why this is occurring or any reproducible set of circumstances.
I can accept that I am pushing the envelope on Spaces using both multiple displays and splitting windows from one application across Spaces, so I am not expecting this to work flawlessly (yet). However, it sure would be useful to be able to recover from this when it occurs.
By the way, as a tip I have mapped my mouse button 3 (external mouse with a scroll wheel that has a button) to show Spaces, which has been very handy for me.
One last thing: Does anyone else think it would be cool to have Spaces act more like true individual Desktops? In other words, be able to set background image per Space and maybe even have different files on each Space/Desktop? Files would be more involved since Spaces are less permanent than a real Desktop, but background images seems like an easy thing to be able to code for.

Just to be clear, you CAN run an application and split its windows across different Spaces by dragging those windows in the Spaces view. So open Firefox in Space 1, open a second FF window in Space 1, then F8 and drag the second window into Space 2 and voila. It's somewhat random what happens when you click on the application icon in the dock when you do this, but it does work.
Good point about the background being very resource-intensive. Never mind.
