T540P Dual Graphics Nvidia Issues

I just updated all of my laptop drivers and bios through the lenovo utilities.  Now I am unable to open the nvidia control panel and the Device Manager says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" for the Nvidia Geforce GT 730M.
I have  uninstalled and re-installed the latest package from the lenovo website.  I have looked in the bios and I dont see any option for Switchable Graphics.  The bios version that I currently have installed is
BIOS Version/Date LENOVO GMET59WW (2.07 ), 2/12/2014
I am at a complete loss as to what is going on.  I saw this issue when i first bought the computer and it was due to mismatched Intel and Nvidia drivers but  since I am installing from the approved driver package from lenovo i would assume that isnt the problem.
Any ideas?
Dustin

Well after trying to install everything again it still doesnt work...
Getting my laptop sent back for servicing for the 4th time.  This is rediculous.  If the repair people were as good as the customer service people on the phone this wouldnt be an issue but half the time they appear to be incompetent.
So frustrated.

  • NVIDIA GeForce 9400m graphic installation issue.

After installing Windows XP with SP2 32-bits via Boot Camp, I inserted my OS X that does all the installation of drivers which is said to include the graphic drivers but after restarting the computer, my screen resolution went to 680x520 and to 4-bits. Everything were big, fat and ugly with geeky colors everywhere.
I've been trying to solve this problem for about 2 weeks already but still with no luck even asking this question again and again in a dozen forums. People tried and gave me the download links for the graphic driver though non of them works as most gives me the error 'Couldn't locate the compatible driver for your current hardware' or some stuff like that.
And to anyone of you that has the same exact computer as mine which is the iMac 20inch 2.66 GHz with NVIDIA GeForce 9400m graphic card that could install a working driver and is able to play games now .. PLEASE give me the link to that driver. So that I can test if it's my computers problem before handing it to the stores.
And one more question - are notebook GPU drivers suppose to work on desktops too? I've received much download link but all I see are notebook GPU drivers. Please help me with this massive issue.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hey Daveyx1,
Have you checked all the software updates and installed all of the available ones? especially the EFI firmware? Check the EFI firmware version on your system and verify that is the latest from this link. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237.
If the version is not right you need to install the software updates and restart the Mac. After installing the firmware updates install the Boot Camp drivers again.
Also I know that you had tried most of the possible stuffs to get the issue resolved. However if you haven't tried that please try this.
    1. Boot to Windows in Boot Camp
    2. Right click on My Computer and select Manage
    3. Check the display drivers installed
    4. Right click on that and choose to update driver
    5. When the wizard comes up let it search for the drivers first
    6. If it is not finding the appropriate drivers repeat the steps and choose to install from the disk
    7. Insert the Boot Camp driver disk (i.e. Mac OS X install disk) and try to update the driver.
This should update the drivers for the graphic card and the issue may be resolved. If the issue persists, please run an AHT as there may be an issue with either the Boot Camp drivers in the DVD or the Card itself.
You will need to contact the Apple store for a different disk and try installing the Boot Camp drivers or analyzing the Graphic card issues.
    Hope this helps you............

  • Lenovo z5070 graphics card issue 'nvidia'

i bought a new laptop .. i have windows 8.1 ... Z5070 - Graphics cards issue (Unable to play heavy graphic games. Nvidia Card) Z5070 with Nvidia Graphic card is having problem when playing high graphic games. The Nvidia graphic card is not detected and it is only using the Intel Graphic card.i install latest updates for everything.what is the problem pllz i want to play games

Hi abdallah650, By default the graphic cards used by computer are switched automatically, depend of application to run. You can check and change this for each application in NVidia Control Panel - 3D settings.
Also you can run each application with right click on it and choose the prefered graphic card. Read this article: switching between Intel and NVidia graphics and here.  I hope that will help you.

  • AMD Radeon HD 8650G + 8750M Dual Graphics and lower WEI score... and keyboard "softness"

    HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC
AMD A10-5750M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
    16GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 8650G + 8750M Dual Graphics
Hello I just purchased this machine. Given are the basic specs.  Why would the AMD Radeon HD 8650G + 8750M Dual Graphics  score a 5.9 on the WEI when my two year old hp with an A8-3500 with the 6620G + 6750M scored a 6.5.. I am wondering if this new machine is actually graphically slower. Any Advice?
Second question: Is it normal for the envy to have a soft spot in the keyboard where you have visible flex. while pressing the W, S, A, D, E there is visible deformation.  All the other keys seem solid.
I am debating returning this machine already. Any help.

Are you comparing WEI scores from the same OS??? That is Windows 7 to Windows 7... Windows 8 to Window 8... or Windows 8 to Window 7???
Comparing scores generated by different generations of Windows doesn't mean anything. Notice that the scale on Windows 7 runs from 1 to 7.9 and Windows 8 runs from 1 to 9.9 .  Notice that the graphics scores for both 2D and 3D graphics are lower on Windows 8. Windows Vista, 7, and 8 all use different parameters to determine the scores.
Also, the architecture of the APUs has changed a little of the past couple of generations. And an 8750M and  6750M are basically the same GPU, so the scores should be roughly the same when using the same driver and OS for a comparision.

  • How to get dual graphics card to work together?

I have an L series satellite with dual graphics card that wont work together. Its an AMD Radeon 3400m apu with an HD 6520G integrated , and a 6400m discrete graphcs card.
The 6400m will never turn on, I have used amd system monitor to see if it is ever used, but it never is.
Even when the 6520g is at full load it wont turn on.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi
As far as I know this theme has been already discussed here in the forum and the switch between internal and external ATI GPU is not supported.
Just the Optimus technology designed by nVidia is supported
So you can switch between Intel GPU and nVidia (if both would support the Optimus technology)

  • Nvidia Issue or just broken? - Macbook Pro 17 inch 2008.

My screen intermittently started going into this very weird textured looking dark pale blue colour... sometimes with some lines sometimes with just the texture. For a time it would just start working by itself. I've been quite hard on the computer travelling extensively on bumpy rides, so I wouldn't be surprised if something is just loose.
The reason I want to try and figure it out first is that the first place I took it to said it was water damage, kind of funny. They said I needed to replace the screen, I said no just give it back... and then when I fetched it the screen was working again!... they apparently stepped on it by mistake - Im not kidding! The whole body is slightly bent. It worked for about a year now, but stopped again last month. There is a photo of how it looks here:
    http://nic.co.za/images/laptop_screen.jpg
I bought a 27inch imac to work on but desperately need my older machine to be mobile as well.
I've tried to find the exactly the same issue online but they all seem slightly different. I bought my laptop in Los Angeles but am currently in South Africa.

Hi m, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Sounds like it could be a connection, a cable, or the GPU. Read about the NVIDIA issue, but given water damage and physical damage, I strongly doubt the machine will qualify for the free repair. Still, it wouldn't hurt to have it tested and see.
I'm sure it's too late now, but if a repair shop stepped on my MBP, they'd be repair the damage or compensating me for it . . . .

  • Do all E545 laptop sub-models have dual-graphics?

Looking to purchase one soon, and will be used for occasional gaming.
I see the same sub-model listed on one site as having the HD 8570M along w/ the iGPU from the APU, but others do not. This is very confusing. To add to the confusion, the main product page for the E545 on lenovo's site shows it has it, but when you customize a unit, it doesn't.
If all E545s do NOT have dual-graphics, can I please have a list(US, CA, and international models) of all sub-model codes that do?
    Thank you

You won't see the 6459 in the current Jan 2009 version because Lenovo only keeps the latest models on that reference source.
However, I found my answer at the ThinkPad Forum here:
    http://www.thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=60786
It appears that there is indeed 256mb on the GPU in question and there are some typographical errors on the Product Info Pages.

    Hi ashwani26596,
Let's start by using the HP Support Assistant to check for any updates and drivers to see if that resolves the issue. If that doesn't work then go your Control Panel and then Programs and Features and uninstall the Catalyst Control Center. Then try installing both the Intel High-Definition Audio Driver and the AMD High-Definition Audio Driver.

  • Lenovo g505s dual graphics?

I purchased a Lenovo G505s from PC world a few months ago and just wondered whether it actually has Dual Graphics as stated by the sticker....This laptop is is an A8-4500m with AMD Radeon HD 7640g, and 4GB RAM, upgraded to 8GB. I have seen other posts about this before by nothing can solve this issue, I tried every software to try and find out if there is another graphics card in there but there is definitely not....what does this green 'Dual Graphics' sticker mean? :/

    hi candywolf,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

  • Extended warranty valid for secondhand mbp without receipt? (nvidia issue)

I have a black screen and proably the NVIDIA issue (as described in article TS2377 on the apple site). I am going to local apple stores tomorrow to get some tests done. However I have traded the mbp3.1 with an iMac last year and I dont have a receipt. Would this be a problem to get a new NVIDIA and logicboard free of charge?

Hi. I dont know the original owner. we traded through a secondhanded apple site. he came over. we swopped but i have no further information.
the macbook pro is from june 2007, but it has the NVIDIA issue which should be fixed free of charge, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2377
The mbp is a little over 3 years old, but this should not be a problem as apple says in the article ^^
+If the NVIDIA graphics processor in your MacBook Pro has failed, or fails within four years of the original date of purchase, a repair will be done free of charge, even if your MacBook Pro is out of warranty.+

  • Display dead, then comes back to life- can Nvidia issue be intermittent?

I have a MacBook Pro MA896LL (Core 2 Duo Santa Rosa) that I use with an external display most of the time.
Rebooted a few days ago only to see nothing- sleep light on the computer was solid but laptop and external displays were blank. Disconnected external display and power-cycled, same thing- discovered that the computer is actually on but just no video (can boot in firewire mode, etc.). Tried the usually stuff, reset PRAM, SMC, left it off for a while, nothing. Figured I must have the dead Nvidia card issue.
Anyway, booted it back up today in Firewire mode to finish backing it up, and lo and behold, the display is working again!
Question- can the Nvidia issue be intermittent, or is it just working or not?
I have AppleCare, but repairs unfortunately involve me flying to Miami and hanging around for a few days while they repair it, and I'd hate to go and then they tell me it is not that problem, only to return home and have it again.
    thanx

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I think that the NVIDIA problem can be intermittent, and the fact that the external display was also blank does indicate the graphics card.
While the display is working, you might try running the extended version of the Apple Hardware Test and see if you get anything in the way of an error code.
Also, call Apple on the telephone to report the problem and to get a case number. Explain that the problem seems to be intermittent, and for that reason you would prefer not to fly to Miami for the reasons you gave. Ask if there is an AASP in your area that could do a diagnostic test. Apple has some sort of special procedure for testing for the NVIDIA issue, and it may be that someone local can do this for you.
If you get any results on the AHT or any other diagnostic test that would confirm the problem, then you can arrange to have the repair done at your convenience.
In the meantime, you might keep a log of when the problem occurs. For example, the chip may work fine when the computer has been off a while and is cold, but the problem might occur when the computer has been on a while, and maybe with intensive processor activity. If you can discover any conditions which will reliably cause the problem to occur, you will be much more successful at showing it to someone at Apple.
    Good luck!

  • Need Help With AMD Radeon HD 8750M + HD 8000 Series Dual Graphics

I recently purchased the ENVY 15z-j000 and upgraded it with the  AMD Radeon HD 8750M + HD 8000 Series Dual Graphics. I wanted the dedicated HD 8750M for playing games and whatnot. When I first opend up my new laptop, I performed a clean install of Windows 8 from a USB drive. This completely wiped all of the preinstalld HP drivers, software, etc.
I installed the beta drivers for my laptop from AMD's website.  Here is my issue. How do I know my dedicated video card is working properly? I ran some games and they seemed to do fine. But when I checked my system with CPUz and dxdialog it said I was running the integrated graphics. How does dual graphics work and how do I make sure I am taking advantage of my dedicated card. An in depth explination and how to for using the AMD dual graphics solution would be apprechiated.

I'm no expert on Switchable Graphics, but you may find the answers to your questions in Overview of Switchable Graphics or Dual GPUs or Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Dual AMD GPUs.  Be forewarned though, the documents were written for HP PC's using the appropriate HP drivers, if you are using Beta drivers from AMD, then the documents may not match what you see on your system.

  • Dual Graphics in H535: Non-updatable ?

I have Lenovo H535, Windows 8.1 with dual graphics set: AMD Radeon HD 8670D and AMD Radeon R7 240 + HD 8670D Dual Graphics (as copied from Device Manager). This combo showed nasty problem in past, with unability to update drivers. Every attempt (manual or automatic) led to graphics crash and revert to old drivers. This was not problem until today, when Windows 10 update started. Windows 10 Installer is trying to update graphics drivers which causes distorted BSOD, recovery attempt and then revert back to Windowd 8.1. Is there any way to bypass this error, or to get them up to date to bypass Windows 10 Installer update attempt ?

Moan Guide..... please read it first... the link is at my signature.
Anyway your issue is very interesting. I don';t have 3 monitors to try out but I have 2 N6800... (but I'm afraid they might burn my power supply )
But first thought, that is definitely Driver and Hardware limitation! The video cards are not sharing the same video frame buffer, definitely expanding the desktop across different video card output is unacceptable. Unfortunately the driver isn't smart enough to detect this "impossibility", and prevent it from happen, but it just hang itself up.
However, why you have to uninstall and reinstall the driver to resolve?
What do you mean "mon 3 still not controlled, but driver thinks its mon2" ??

  • Ye olde G505s dual graphics question.

Hi, I have seen this topic a couple of times but for higher models than mine - 20255 AMD A8-4500M - as to why there is a dual graphics sticker on the laptop. The other machines do appear to have a discreet GPU linked with Crossfire that was difficult to find. After removing the back cover of my machine I am pretty sure the empty gap on the motherboard to the left of the fan is why myself or Crossfire is never going to find a second graphics processor. Just for peace of mind, so I can stop looking, do Lenovo just stick this sticker on all laptops regardless of capabilities or is the graphics card hidden somewhere really clever?
Thanks in advance to anyone with an answer.

If in the device manager you don't see any unknown device than you don't have a discreet graphics card installed.
If you do see an unrecognized device, than apply the solution from this post:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/G505s-Windows-7-brightness-issue/td-p/1311281
essentially you need to install the latest AMD Mobility BETA driver (not the regular one). the solution is shown for Win7. Modify it to match your Windows version

  • G505s-Dual Graphics Question

    Hello,
I recently purchased a Lenovo G505s laptop. It is the version with the AMD A8-5550M. It stated on the feature tag that it had dual graphics. When I asked about dual graphics at the store I was told that means it has an integrated graphics chip on CPU as well as a separate graphics card for heavier things like gaming.
My problem is that in Windows Device Manager and the Vision Control Center, etc, the only thing showing is a HD  8550G graphics adapter, which it seems is the integrated chip. For the life of me I can't seem to get another graphics adapter to show up. I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them with the latest on the Lenovo driver site, I've tried looking in BIOS for an option, but nothing seems to work.
Does dual graphics mean something totally different and I had an unknowledgeable salesman, or is it possible something may be borked with the other graphics card? Or is it simply a matter that I don't know what the heck I am doing or looking for and it's staring me right in the face?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If any other information is required, please let me know. Thank you!
