T540p Trackpoint - clicking virtual buttons on clickpad gives no response

I've just gotten what I hoped would be an awesome new T540p. So far, the experience is going horribly because I can't seem to use the Trackpoint reliably. Specifically, when I click the trackpoint button on either side - left or right -(virtual buttons along the top edge of the clickpad), absolutely nothing happens. No right click menu, no mouse click - no action of any kind is recorded. Let me be clear - the clickpad is visibly and fully depressed. There is no doubt at all that the clickpad has been depressed. But there is no actual mouse click action.
In order for me to get a reliable "click" out of the Trackpoint click area on the clickpad, I have to move my thumb down and in to the tracking area of the clickpad. This is very awkward and involves wrist movement. Compare this to the superior design of the old T530 trackpoint buttons - they are angled and shaped so that they are perfectly located to be pressed by your thumb without having to bend your thumb or move your wrist, your fingers get to stay right on the home row where they belong.
Lenovo: I use and love the TrackPoint. It and the keyboard are the reason I purchase thinkpads. Without it, I could and would buy any other manufacturer. Please put my TrackPoint buttons back. Or at least let me choose to order the T540 with a T530 keyboard/trackpad so that we have a choice! I would easily pay an extra $100 for the old TrackPoint buttons.

You are not the only one experiencing these problems.For a TrackPoint user the new "clickpad" is a physically flawed design. Too much pressure is required for a click, and the erratic behavior has not disappeared with any of the driver updates.
It seems that the whole physical desing of the "clickpad" without separate mouse buttons is flawed. The ergonomics of the keyboard not very good either.
I do not know any TrackPoint user who thinks the new desing usable at all. Some people liking it have written about it, but apparently most of the people who like the new desing are not TrackPoint users who do not move their hands when writing.

For a while now, I have wondered why the virtual buttons shown in the utility http://imgur.com/Lljj1Z7 don’t function as advertised. According to the utility, I should get a left click if I depress the left are of the touchpad, a middle click if I push on the bumps, and a right click if I depress the right half of the touchpad. In my experience, I get a left click regardless of where I depress the touchpad. The only exception is when I depress the bumps in the top middle of the touchpad—when I do that, the mouse enters some weird scrolly mode where I scan scroll stuff with the trackpoint. It definitely does not emit a middle click. But, more importantly, I cannot figure out how to get trackpoint mode to emit a right click. How do I get trackpoint classic mode to work? Is there a way to downgrade the drive or use a non-lenovo branded driver to get it to behave properly? Right now, I’m relying on an external mouse just to middle click and right click. I’m using Windows 10 b10240 and, as in the post’s title, my trackpoint driver is the latest listed on Lenovo’s support site (which I think WU actually installed for me)—19.0.12.61. Why don’t the virtual buttons work and are there any other workarounds that don’t involve using a mode other than Trackpoint Classic?

Pop up on clicking a button

Hi All,
Problem : There is a custom screen in a CRM Transaction. In the screen there is a table which displays data.and there are a few buttons which provides a few functionalities like delete records, display attachments etc. The functionality is provided in a CASE statement. The problem now is I need to provide a popup as soon as the user clicks on a button. this popup will display a list from a table.
I am not able give a popup when i click the button. this will be something like when i click a variant button on a report screen it displaying the list of variants and one of the variants being selected. How do i provide this funtionality it ?

After updating to v. 24.0 (and restarting, several times) ALL add-ons (regardless whether they work or not) are marked "(disabled)". I tried clicking "Enable" button for each add-on and nothing happened. There is only one add-on which is marked as incompatible with this version (but it was also incompatible with previous version, and so marked).
Clicking "Update Add-ons", gives a short list of add-ons but "Install Updates" button is pale and doesn't work. I can only sort list by name or last update.
Also, I disabled Ask Toolbar and that went well. When I click "Enable" button (button works ONLY for this add-on) it takes forever to get note: “Ask Toolbar will be enabled after you restart Firefox”, I used to get this info in seconds time before this update. (I do not really want Ask Toolbar, I just used it to see whether if I disable and then enable an add-on might do the trick.)
Bottom line – I can not tell if add-on works (i.e. if it is enabled or disabled) unless I try using it.
Even when I posted this question and installed Troubleshooter, it's also marked as "(disabled)"

Cannot click radio buttons after Windows Updates

Hello,
We approved the following Office updates back in December and since then, our users cannot click radio buttons in Word documents. This month, we pushed all updates stated in the following article:

We've also removed .exd files from users' computers and this still hasn't resolve our issue. This is critical for us as we use these documents across the entire organization. Please help!
I've tested this both on Office 2013 click-to-run and Office 2010 with the same results. 2013 is the latest version and I've deleted .exd for this as well, using Fix It, script and manually.

How to get sequence value on click of button in OAF Page

I have a requirement to get a field called Bankrefernece number populated with sequence value on click of apply button ; i mean inserting new record in database for new transaction.
Sequence Value should be something like this:
Example

means every day sequence should start with the date initials.

Opening a long URL on click of button in CRM Web UI

Hi Experts,
I am facing an issue while opening a long URL (length greater than 255 char) on the click of a button in CRM Web UI.
I have declared an attribute zv_url type string and populated the variable in event handler.
Thereafter I have written below logic in .htm:

But the logic is not opening my URL, it is just opening a web window 'res://ieframe.dll/http_400.htm' with error page HTTP 400 Bad Request.
If I try to modify the variable zv_url in debugging with a short url say 'http://www.google.com', it works correcly but due to the length of url, the logic is opening error page.
Can you please help me out with this issue?

Lenovo Thinkpad Compact USB Keyboard with Trackpoint: Middle mouse button and scrolling

I got this keyboard (KU-1255).
Unfortunately, it generates bogus mouse button events if I click the middle mouse button and use the trackpoint:
With "thinkpad scrolling mode" disabled, the middle mouse button is released as soon as I move the trackpoint while still pressing the button!
Expected behaviour: The middle mouse button is pressed, the event created. Moving the trackpoint moves the cursor normally. Releasing the middle button creates a corresponding event.
With "thinkpad scrolling mode" enabled, the button is registered as pressed, then scrolling occurs as I move the trackpoint and the button is released if I release it.
Expected behaviour: No middle mouse button event is registered if I move the trackpoint. Pressing and releasing the middle mouse button is only registered if I click the button without moving the trackpoint.
When will there be a firmware update available for the keyboard, like for the SK-8855?
Since I am also using Linux, I would be really interested in fixing this in the firmware, not only getting a new Windows driver.

Click a button in Safari

I want to locate a button on a web page and click it. That's it. Sounds easy but I don't how to locate the button.
I can't link to the web page because you need to be a member to view it. I also want to learn from this so I can locate a button on a different page in the future.
I tried UI Element inspector but didn't see the info for the button when I hovered over it. Well it gave me info I'm not sure what I'm looking for though.
I found the name of the button in the source for the page if there is a way to take that rout.

Safari button are notoriously hard to pin down. Get UIElement Inspector active and while hovering above the button in question press Cmd-F10. This will freeze the Inspector window. Then post the lines from the Inspector window up to 'Attributes:'. They should look similar to this:

Changing region position on submitting the page by clicking a button.

Hi,
I have 3 regions in my APEX page.
1. Region having 20 LOV's with the width between them as 300. The display point is "Page Template Body (1)"
2. Region having 3 buttons.(Go, CLEAR,CALCULATE) The display point is "Page Template Body (2)" Template is "Region without title" and column = 2 and align = "center" in HTML table cell attributes
3. Region having a report with 25 display columns.
Now the problem is,
a) When I click "GO" button , 25 column report displays and it goes beyond the page layout. Hence button also shifts to right(means center position of the page when it is extended by 25 column report). User cannot see the button.
This button shpould retain its place. How to do this?
b) When I click "GO" button , the gap between the LOV's increases and LOV's also shifts to the right side.
These LOV should be in its place. and should not move on click of button when page submitted.
How can i achieve this. ??
Any suggestios would be welcome.

Hi,
If I understand well your problem... You don't say what theme you are using, but usually regions have width=100%, meaning that they should use the whole width of the page (not just the visible part on the screen). Because of this, when the region containing the report extends to the right, it forces all other regions on the page to resize themselves accordingly, that is why your design is getting messed up.
One way to fix it is to tweak the region templates (I would suggest making a copy instead of changing the existing templates). Simply remove the width=100% setting, or hardcode it to a fixed width (for instance, width=300px).
It is a bit complicated to explain here exactly how to do this, but I hope this gives you an idea...

3.1.2 double clicking home button when music is not playing

Is the bug that double clicking home button while music is not playing didn't bring up the iPod control fixed? I don't know it's a design change or a bug, but for me it seems definitely a bug since it doesn't give anything good. Clicking home button once already terminates the application, why would anyone use double clicking to exit the application too?
This is why I'm still using 3.0. Is this fixed in 3.1.2?

It's a design change, not a bug. Although I do have to agree with you on that I preferred what double-clicking the home button originally did. There is even settings (in general settings if I can remember right) on what double-clicking the home button performs, but that isn't even an option on it.
And nope this is not fixed or redesigned in 3.1.2.
