T60 1951 WAT LOST DRIVER

I seem to have lost(?) the driver of a USB device in re-loading windows XP. My research tells me it's possibly to run a sierra wireless mini-card. Where can i download it........this the last of about fifteen lost in the process of this escapade..........can anybody help on my first visit to this happy bunch of Lenovo Lovers......Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you might be missing the WAN adapter driver.

  • Trouble setting up X with FreeBSD 7.1 on my Thinkpad T60 1951-FCG

    Hi!
I'm having some trouble setting up X on my Thinkpad T60 1951-FCG running FreeBSD 7.1. When I run whatever config, either the one I get from X -configure or one edited after my settings, all I get is a black screen. The screen is a tad bit lighter than when my laptop is powered off though. This effectivly locks my laptop up -- the only way I can get out of the "black screen of death" is to SSH in and kill the process, which then turns my monitor into this: http://folk.ntnu.no/sigurdhj/laptop_fail.jpg. The only way I can get back to a normal screen is by rebooting. If I try to start X through SSH, I get prompted with the message: Failed to load DMI info, X60 TV quirk not applied.
I've given the 'vesa' driver a go aswell, with that I can get a picture at least, but still loads of error messages. My monitor works perfectly with Windows XP, Ubuntu, and PC-BSD -- which leads me to believe that my monitor is fine, and that it's just a matter of configuring it right.
After the read of 'man intel' I'm thinking it could be something with the setting LVDSFixedMode, but the information about that was just too advanced for me to make anything of. I've included my xorg.conf.new file aswell as the Xorg.0.log file.
Hope there is someone out there bored enough to help me sort this out.

If you check the info on the AirPort Utility 5.6.1 download page, this application is for Leopard and Snow Leopard....10.5.7 to 10.6.8
It will not run on Lion
Instead, you need to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion

  • Ethernet card disappears after SP3 install (T60 1951-45G)

    Hi!
I updated my Windows XP to Service Pack 3 yesterday and now it seems my ethernet card has disappeared. i.e. it acts at it has been disabled in the BIOS (not showing up in device manager etc.). I've tried entering BIOS, hiding it, booting, restart, enable in BIOS and new boot but no luck. In another thread I saw people complaining about broken MS update and that a clean install might resolve the problem.
My question is if anyone else have had the same experience and if it is solvable without a clean install of a streamlined SP3.
    My machine is a T60 1951-45G.
Everything else seems to run just fine by the way, but I'll post back if I find additional problems.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are reports of SP3 breaking LAN/WAN connectivity on many laptops (TechNet, MSFN, MS forums). Not quite certain what the resolution is at this point, and not quite certain whether a streamlined SP3 fresh install would be a fix for the issue. For some, SP3 disables WAN completely, while for others the issue is with LAN. It seems certain "newer" drivers are the culprit.
Before doing something drastic, try re-installing the LAN drivers from Lenovo to see if that fixes it, otherwise you may just have to revert back to SP2 (nothing wrong with it on an existing machine that otherwise runs without issues). SP3, afterall, is particularly a cumulative update (albeit with some new "features"), so really there's no great reason to update a working and updated XP-SP2 system with this new service pack.
On a side note, be sure to check if KB941644 was inadvertently installed as part of the update - it's a "hotfix" that is known to cause a number of connectivity issues (unresolvable).
You can check here (MS XP issues) to see if there is a solution to your issue.
    Hope this clears things up

  • Restore the hard drive to the factory WinXP OS image - T60 1951-A31

I'm trying to restore the hard drive to the factory WinXP OS image on a number of 1951-A31 ThinkPad T60.
Found these instructions in the trouble shooting guide:
    1. If possible, save all your files and shut down your operating system.
    2. Turn off your computer for at least 5 seconds.
    3. Turn on your computer. Watch the display carefully. While the message, “To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button” is displayed, press the ThinkVantage button. The Rescue and Recovery workspace opens.
    4. Click Restore your system and follow the instructions on the screen.
The problem is that Restore your system does not appear.
I found a thread on Thinkvantage  looks promising:  No Restore Option
    The thread has this:

    kamszelei, welcome to the forum,
    from a lurker
which version of Think Vantage System Upate do you have installed?
If you have version 3.13.0009 installed please try the following; boot into Windows and run TVSU.  It'll update itself, restart, then update itself again. Hopefully the option to recover to factory content will then be available to you.
Please also check the following registry key; HKLM\Software\Lenovo\TVT Common
If the "System Type" key is 1, change it to 0. If it is already set to 0 don't change anything and let us know
Unfortunately my Thinkvantage update system is saying it cannot connect because it is not running
Here are my questions about ThinkVantage:
How do I get Thinkvantage update to run?
How do I find the version number for Thinkvantage
How do I "boot into Windows and run TVSU
    My other question is this:
Can I simply buy the backup DVDs with the original XP?
    Thanks
    (mod edit: fixed broken link)

You need to have a harddrive installed that contains the original system restore partition, many people delete them because they are redundant and use up space and after a while, most of the content is outdated, meaning it will install 4-5yo system and software that you'd only want to replace or update anyway. I prefer to install from a windows setup disc, but you can buy the restore sets, it's a set of 7 or 8 CDrom, not DVD discs. Lenovo sells them I believe, or if you can find someone willing to copy a set and send them to you, it would save you some money. I can tell you that if I had a several of these to do, I'd much rather use a single windows setup disc, preferably one with the latest service pack and updates, so I'm done after a few mins and one disc, opposed to installing many discs, changing from one to the other, then in the end downloading and installing service pack three, then a few dozen hotfixes, it could turn into hours of work on each unit, but if you want them with all the preloaded software, then that is the only way. Good Luck

  • T61p lost driver for display card

    Hi,
My OS is XP and I found that driver for display card has lost twice. One symptom is that when I scroll my browser or a word document, the screen flickers badly.
It won't work properly if I simply reinstall the driver. I uninstalled anything containing "nVidia" from Control Panel and reinstalled the driver, it will work properly again.
My ordered OS is Vista Home Basic, and I changed to XP. The driver I'm using is downloaded from lenovo's website.
    Anyone knows why?
    Best Regards,
    enrico

Are you installing the drive from the device manager or from the actual nvidia installer?  Try doing both - and also remember to install the LCD monitor driver, which helps correct issues that may arise.

  • Lost drives

I have a G5 2.0 dual with a 500GB Seagate in the second drive, and connected via DLink bridge to Time Capsule.
About two weeks ago the main drive lost contact with both the Seagate and Time Capsule. This is bad because, among other things, I an a photographer and a lot of my photo archive is on those two drives. Never expected to lose them both.
Any hints as to how I can go about getting them back? (I'm a very nervous techie).
I just ran DiskWarrior on the main drive and it's OK (one unrelated problem with plist files for one application).

Try shutting the machine down. resetting the logic board from the cuda button on the logic board (it's located underneath the second bank of RAM). Hold for about fifteen seconds. Once you have done that then startup the machine and Zap the PRAM (holding down the Command [Apple], Option, P and R keys). I let it bong three times after the initial startup sound. After you Zap the PRAM the change the keys you are holding down to Command, Option, O and F. Reset the NVRAM. Once you get to white screen type in reset-nvram [Hit Return], then reset-all [Hit Return]. That fixed the problem I had with disappearing drives. If this doesn't help get an External Case and try then in a external case. Good Luck.

  • Think pad T60 CD-RW/DVD Drive .

It' may be shot , but thought  I would ask .
It makes a clicking sound when DVD CD is inserted and will not start them .
One note : I can insert an thicker DVD from a plumbing Co. in it and it WILL play .
    Any thoughts ?
Cheapest replacements I've seen are on E-Bay .

most drives will fail in an exponential fashion.... so they lose their ability slowly as the laser ages. T60 have 3 years of standard warranty, if you are still within warranty then you can get it replaced free. If you are out of warranty you can go on to the ebay or gumtrees.com (depending on the country of your residence) and find a ultrabay slim device for around 50 dollars or abouts. If you go marketplace forum.thinkpads.com you may also find a good used example for a fair price.
I have dvd drive that failed in that exact fashion, in the end nothing works.

    donian,
try going to the dell support site and go to Product Support, undert the menu select Downloads and Drivers, plug in your PC info and your Operating System and submit, search for audio drivers, see if they have a Creative audio driver for your machine. Follow the instructions to install if there is one..

  • HELP! LOST DRIVER DI

*crying* No! I've lost my driver disc. Creative Labs, being the jerks that they are, won't let me talk to a real person. Here I am with a 8Gb Microphoto and no drivers. My computer woj't recognize it and there's no place to get the drivers from! I don't give a **bleep** about the firmware! I don't care about all the other stuff they have for download! I WANT THE DRIVERS SO I CAN LISTEN TO MUSIC! IS THAT SO HARD!
WHY DOES CREATIVE HAVE TO BE JERKS! If I can't get the drivers I'm throwing out my (much lauded by Creative) Zen, buying a Microsoft Zune, and telling everyone I know to boycott Creative Labs. This whole company is a hunk of garbage. They can't release one good MP3 player! Judging by the forums here, no one that has bought a Creative MP3 product has been satisfied in the least!

There actually are no drivers for the Microphoto because the Microphoto is a Microsoft PlaysForSure compliant device. All such devices use Microsoft's driver which is built into Windows XP SP and higher. If you are experiencing driver problems, you'll need to contact Microsoft or at least try the standard troubleshooting for your problem found in our Knowledge Base.
