T60 doesn't seem to like DVD+'s

I have a T60 w/XPP and I am trying to install Visual Studio 2008, my college is distributing a copy to the students on their license, and the copy is burned on a DVD +R. I installed this on my desktop, which didn't make it through a transient power event, and until I get a new power supply, I wanted to get it installed on my T60, so I don't fall behind. When I try to load it, the autorun never seems to execute, when I go to Start > My Computer > D and try to run the disk, My Computer stops responding and the DVD drive locks up and has to be opened with the manual release. The T60 then needs a hard reset as it becomes a paper weight, cursor movement seems to be retained but nothing works. After a reset, it is back to normal. I tried a USB Pioneer DVD multiburner and the effect is much the same, with that drive even locking up to the point that the USB cable must be disconnected and power cycled to be able to open the drive up. The DVD works fine, I have installed it on my desktop and I have popped it into a few others' computers and the autorun comes right up. I bought the 3 year warranty and am only about 9 months through the first year, I'd hate to start a trend by sending it in so soon. Any ideas?

This is NOT a software problem, it's a MATSH!TA dvd drive problem. Any VS.NET 2008 or Office 2007 dvd will crash explorer when these drives try to read those dvds. Other dvds as well. My failure rate on 20 data dvds was 45%. Moive dvds all seem to work fine.

PS: open up device manager and see who really manufactured the "pioneer" external dvd drive... the name on the outside isn't always the name on the inside!

New MacBook doesn't seem to like my Airport Express

Hi,
I just replaced my old PowerBook G4 (Aluminum) with a MacBook and it doesn't seem to play nicely with my Airport Express when it comes to AirTunes. I live in an apartment building and with my old machine I could see 4 or 5 networks but the new machine sees about 18 different networks (newer hardware, better antennas I guess) and AirTunes keeps dropping out. I also get rather random drops of the signal where my AirPort status in the OS goes to zero and I have to reconnect. It's frustrating!
I've tried adjusting the channel multiple times and I've used iStumbler to try and figure out what channel other networks are using and although I've found an unoccupied one (2 right now, other people seem to love 1, 6, and 12), AirTunes still drops out frequently (maybe 3-5 times every five minutes, usually in clusters). Interference Robustness is enabled.
Does anyone have ideas on how to improve the situation? I hate to throw hardware at the problem, but I'm even thinking about getting an Airport Extreme because maybe 802.11n will help the cause? (But will my AirTunes with Airport Extreme problem still exist?)

Ibooks doesn't seem to like ios 5.01 on ipad1, anyone know what to do?

ibooks doesn't want to function, tries loading and then shuts down.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, same result.
I tried the RESTORE button on itunes, it tried restoring the ipad to ios 5.01 and disconnected at the end for network issues
I tried RESET SETTINGS on the ipad itself and nothing happened
The funny thing is that I updated to ios 5.01 to be able to load PDFs from Safari directly into ibooks and not ibooks is not working and I cannot even revert to my old operating system ios 3.2
Many people have been complaining to Apple about this crash but with no response

X-Fi DD-DTS doesn't seem to work right playing DVD Movies with VLC Player or anything els

I have an X-Fi Platinum with the bay and When I try to Play a DVD with VLC Player And choose a/52 over s/pdif it sounds HORRID skipping and pausing and not functioning at all.. I must choose 5. channel to have Listenable Audio. The Same goes for AC3 Encoded Files If I chose A/52 over S/PDIF in VLC player it sounds like **bleep** and doesn't seem to decode it right. I must chose stereo 2 channel to listen to AC3 encoded video's.. NOTE The dolby Digital symbol DOES appear when i chose A/52 over S/PDIF so it does know it's a digital signal.. And I have the software set to USE hardware decoder and S/PDIF in Decode selected. NOW Here's something that REALLY makes me wonder wtf is wrong, I can connect my Home DVD Player or Cable Box over the Optical?in OR the S/PDIF in and the SOB works Fine, The Dolby Digital symbol comes up and everything sounds great! Macbook Pro doesn't seem to read Dual Layer DVDs

I was trying to restore my laptop using the original restore/install dvds that came with it. When I slip the installation discs into the optical drive, my Mac doesn't seem to read them; it just ejects them.
But I tried inserting audio CDs, data DVDs (4GB max in size) and they seem to work and recognized by my mac. My mac doesn't recognize the installation discs only. I have even went the extra mile of purchasing another Snow Leopard installation disc and the disc, which is sealed, new and fresh from the store also got ejected by the machine. I have read somewhere that the installation discs are Dual Layer DVDs. Seems like my optical drive is not reading dual layers discs anymore.
Any advice how I can mitigate this? Are there any firmware updates that I can upgrade or downgrade to? How will I know which firmware my optical drive is running on?

You can reset the SMC and see if that helps. If it's a unibody or Retina, follow the method for "a battery you should not remove yourself."

To burn DVDs - You know that they come in two versions ?
Data-DVDs - to store files (even movie files) onto - Can not be played on any Video-DVD-player.
Video-DVDs - as commersial movie DVDs
Data-DVDs - can be burned directly from DeskTop/Finder (but only one time/DVD - no incremental storage)
Video-DVDs - needs a DVD-authoring program.
• iDVD - is the best possibly for most of us (not avail. from Apple any more)
• DVD Studio Pro - best ever made ? (not avail. from Apple any more)
• Roxio Toast™ - I like (I got, I use - rather often)
• Compressor - $50 from Apple
• Free DVD Creator.app - free from Apple Store (very simple - Quality ?? not sure - looked problematic reg. Interlacing)
• Burn - a free alternative from Internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD

If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.

No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.

Then your basic issues are: too little RAM, incompatible software, dysfunctional installation.
Add more RAM or kill as many programs that you use until the computer is running normally.

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

You have a password, so good move on your part. Whether you erase it or the thief does, they still get to use the iPhone as theirs. Which is more important (pick one), protecting your data or punishing the thief?
Ringing occurs at the carrier. Chances are you're going to voicemail after only two or three rings. If you have an iCloud backup also a good move. Re-read my question in the first paragraph.

Applications you download from the Mac App Store store any extra content within the application package itself.
To see if you have the content, right-click, or control-click the Motion 5 icon, and choose "Show Package Contents" - in the new window that appears, open the Contents folder. If you have downloaded the extra content you'll see a folder named Library Content, which should be around 1 GB in size.

Hi it's a headphone jack and two larger (microphone type jacks?) at the other end. Please excuse my not not knowing the name of anything - I know where everything goes but not the names! So if I press Alt and the sound icon at the same time what output should I be choosing?
I've tried plugging into the red and white tape in tape out and the front of the amp with a headphone/red and white jack lead and a slight sound comes out but of bad quality.
When I'm going through my bose it's an easy headphone to headphone lead and is working perfectly.

This is my second iPod (I had to send the first one back to get it replaced) and it's getting ridiculous. About three months ago it stopped working again (the new one) and I got a box to send it back, but I tried installing new software and updating it and all, which fixed it, or so I thought. Now it's not working again. I can't even get it connected to my computer without the computer freezing completely. iTunes refuses to load when the iPod is connected, and "My Computer" (I have a win laptop) quits responding when I connect it too. If I could get it connected I would reset it completely, which I don't midn doing, but it doesn't seem to be able to do that. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd really appreciate help with this problem because Apple says I can't send it back... even though it's my second one. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks in advance.

Wacom Tablet doesn't seem to work all of the time?

I have a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet, not more than a year old. I recently installed it onto my Macbook Pro and it worked fine, but when I unplugged it and came back to work with it later, it doesn't seem to work. The mouse doesn't respond to where I click on the pad.
So, I've reinstalled this a couple of times and was able to make it work perfectly, but today when I went back to work in photoshop, it doesn't seem to be responding again.
Does anyone have any tips? I know that Leopard likes you to eject USB devices instead of just pulling them out of the slot, but I don't see anywhere to eject it.
Does anyone know what's up?
