im just wondering if lenovo offer any diagnostic tools for the t61.
i have one here thats running very hot at the moment, even though the fans seems to be running ok.
its not giving any issues at such at the moment, but i dont want to fry it either if its overheating.

Windows 8.1 HP AMD laptop gets very hot and brightness wont change from max

Hi i recently bought a laptop off my friend because my computer was very hard to read and i needed something smaller, it is only a year old and has a AMD A10 processor. Yesterday we recently tried to factory reset it and reinstall back to windows 8.1 to wipe data, we had a bit of a problem and it took a few hours due to the blue screen problem but i finally got it to boot, after installing windows i have noticed there was barely any programs on the computer except for internet explorer, i also noticed the brightness was on maximum and would not change from there i press the buttons adn the slider will go down but it wont actually change, this makes it very uncomfortable for eyes to read at night or in a dark room. i am also noticing that on the left hand side near the fan the laptop gets very very hot much hotter than my old intel i5 hp laptop, could you please help with these issues ASAP as it is driving me crazy and he wont even take the laptop back until i can fix the overheating and brightness issues. thanks very much

To test the hard drive determine what brand of hard drive you have. You can check the Bios/Setup to find out or run SIW or Belarc Advisor. Go to that manufacturer's support site and download their Self Booting Diagnostic CD ISO image, create the CD using the Burn From Image option (see http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm for more information on doing this), then boot to it and run the most exhaustive tests available. If you have a Toshiba drive you will need to use the Hitachi Drive Fitness Test as Toshiba doesn't supply their own.

) I have a problem. My installation was hanging, so I installed every component individually. The problem is that EAS (reverb, etc.) and the remote control do not seem to be installed or working. This is PIII system with XP sp2.
2) I really don't care for the control panel (volume) with X-fi. a) is there any way to use my older SoundBlaster Li've! or Audigy 24bit software to control the volume and reverb of the system? I also have the EMU 0404 card, but don't have it installed because I thought X-fi would do what I wanted. Could I use that software? The install on any of these do not recognize the X-Fi card.

Ok I feel stupid now. I thought the SoundBlaster option was going to install the drivers only and I had already downloaded the latest so I never choose that option. Plus I thought I had read somewhere here that it did not come with much software like the Audigy so I never really even botherd to look. I will go slap myself then run the install.

Oracle RDB version 7.0 - any extraction software available

Hi, our client has an old application utlizing Oracle RDB version 7 (note - not the normal Oracle 7 database) - is there third party software that can facilitate the extraction of adds/modifies and delete records from the audit logs? We have logminer activated but would like to know if there is a better way to extract the records. I have seen two software products but they don't read the old RDB databases. Thanks in Advance!
