T60p with Win 7 32: blue screen

I installed Win 7 32 bit on a T60p.
The problem is that randomly I get a blue screen, and I'm not able to read the cause of the crash (too fast).
I downloaded and installed all the Win 7 drivers available on the Lenovo site; I downloades and installed the Windows updates.
The question is: how can I discover where is the problem? Is there a place where I can find the drivers up to date for T60p in Win 7 32 bit?
Thanks in advance

Go to Solution.

Hi Occam,
If you want to stop it from flashing away and find the complete error code then do this. Click on Start, then right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced, under Start up and Recovery click the Settings. Thereafter, under system failure uncheck 'Automatic System Restart'.
You can also install BlueScreenView to do this:- http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
Hope it helps.

if it's restarting directly into an error, you can try troubleshooting (might be painful) or re-install windows with boot camp

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

I am a Vista SP2 user that has been getting blue screens recently when trying to boot up. I have gone and cleared cache, temp files, temp internet files and removed new software that was loaded and I am still getting the BSOD. I can come up in safe mode, sometimes with networking but when I go to copy data to my external HDD so I can do a system restore again, I get the BSOD. I have tried to restore from a chk point and still get errors. I need to gather my data off the drive so I can do a restore but I cannot get my data due to it fails in the middle of the copy. Any ideas what could be causing this.

  • Win XP Blue Screen of Death while playing music in iTunes

For the past two weeks I have been trying to fix a problem with my computer, that crashes everytime i play music in itunes.
The music stops playing, or gets hung up on one note for several minutes, my screen freezes, and then I get a blue screen with error message 0x0000007A.
I have already done checks of the hard drive and RAM and according to the computer's diagnostics there is nothing wrong with the hardware.
I tried re-installing itunes but this does not help.
    Any ideas?

im just gonna keep all sound disabled at first.  then if there are no errors, ill enabled onboard, still if none, ill put audigy in a different PCI Slot and update drivers.  come to think of it I dont think its drivers were the most recent ones...
by the way, I have a question about my motherboard.  In another forum on this site I told about my problems with it (rather, my stupidity).  At first I put the backplate on the motherboard with no insulating thing on it (had ripped it all off lol) so I had powered on the comp many many times shorting out the circuits surrounding the cpu socket.  When we took it off, we pryed it off (was very hard because it was sticking), being careful not to scratch any circuits.  My question is, is it possible that damaged the motherboard, and is causing my problems with the blue screen?  It seems to me that if Ive made it this far (played games on the comp at full load and what not) then the motherboard must be fine.  But I could be wrong..?

  • Win XP Blue Screen of Death!

Sometimes when I shut down Windows XP, I get a blue screen of death.  It includes messages like:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."
    "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION"
    "Beginning dump of physical memory"
It doesnt happen every time I shut down, just randomly, it seems.  I am thinking that it is either a memory or motherboard issue.  I have installed the Athlon 64 1.1.0.14 driver.  You can check my specs in my sig.
Do you guys think a BIOS update for my K8T Neo would help?  I am currently running BIOS 1.2 = \

  • HELP PLEASE!! Boot problems with Snow Leopard (Blue Screen Loop)

    Hi guys!
My MacBook (the model before the current one) wont boot up. It started stuttering and acting strange and then froze so I did a force restart. It then loaded all the way up until a blue screen when the mouse appears and can be moved. This flickers off after a few moments (the screen dims) and then comes back. The process repeats as if in some infinite loop.
The main problem is that I've lost my snow leopard disc so I'm pretty limited to what I can do until I can borrow / buy another one and I need to get my laptop back up right away for work.
I've tried booting in safe mode, no joy
I then tried to repair the drive in fsck, which repaired something. I did it again and it said all was ok but then booting stuck at the same place.
Finally I read on another forum that removing /Library/Preferences/com.apple.security.plist fixed login loop issues. I attempted this in single user mode but it said the file didnt exist?
Can anyone help me out here? I'm pretty stressed out as all my work stuff is on there for my new job...
    Thanks!!

I had this same problem -- machine would boot, but loop at two blue screens before the login window. I sshed into the machine and checked /private/var/log/system.log and /var/log/secure.log which showed a unexpected character in /etc/authorization. Basically, the authorization file was corrupted (most likely by bad RAM.) The solution was to replace this file with one copied from another machine. I didn't match models, but did match OS when copying the file (i don't know if this matters at all), and as soon as the "cp" command was entered, the login window popped up. <-- totes awesome. The machine has been reliable since (all of 15 minutes)

  • Crashes with dbs dreaded blue screen when loading certain sites -

Periodically - probably twice a week I load a screen that causes Firefox to crash - I get the dread blue screen so can't get stats although I do see errors when I log back in and bring up firefox.
You have the right config details.
Let me know what other info I can send you
By the way - when I restart Firefox it generally gives me the Oops message and lets me pick whether I want to continue or restart - I restart as if I don't I get blue screen again

Although turning off java script did help on many websites, it didn't solve the problem on all of them, but that could be the website itself.
Unfortunately I had to turn java script back on again because most forums or discussion group web sites seem to use it somewhere.
Only turning it on when required didn't work either because you have to start safari for the change to take effect.
However, one thing I noticed - and it happens quite consistently - if the download stops (As seen in the status bar at the top), if you the click on the 'stop' and then on the 'reload' button, the site loads right away on the second try.
Would that confirm that the issue is with java script or would that point to another problem with these sites?

  • HP Pavilion with Vista keeps Blue Screening

After being racked with blue screens and too much stuff piled on my PC, I did a system recovery and restored everything to factory. However, now, a couple weeks later, I am being bombarded with blue screens.<br><br>The computer will glitch out, freeze and sometimes repeat a sound over and over again while showing blue screen and no matter how many times I restart, nothing fixes. Sometimes it wont even load past the blue HP screen or even to the logon window.<br><br>Currently, I'm getting the error ***STOP: 0X0000007F (0X0000000000000008, 0X0000000080050031, 0X00000000000006F8, 0XFFFFF800020E8834)

Sounds to me like a bad memory chip.  Do you have memtest86 on a bootable CD?  I would try to run with just one chip of memory installed at a time and see which one it blue screens on and if it works fine with another. It actually could be bad capacitors on the video card and/or mother board (check for bulging/rounded/leaking). The fan on the video card could be stuck or burnt out.  Your hard drive could have a bad sector so download the drive certification test iso image from the hard drive manufacturer and make a bootable CD. That will tell you if the drive is good and can fix bad sectors and some minor problems.

  • X200 with OCZ ssd blue screens when booting from docking station

The x200 blue screens when booting from the docking station. If I take the laptop out of the docking station to boot and then dock once booted the laptop is fine.
The issue started happening when you I upgraded the laptop form xp to windows 7 and installed an OCZ vertex 2 solid state drive.
I have tried updating the firmware on the ssd using this utility
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-69806
The program showed that my ssd was running firmware version 1.29 and did not need to be updated.
I have also tried updating the x200 to the latest BIOS. Nothing seems to work.

  • Right mouse click problem on T60p with WIN-XP SP3

I have T60p model. After upgrading my WIN-XP to SP3 i am facing problem with Right mouse click. Right mouse click starts working as left click. Initially when I reboot my machine it works fine but after sometime I start getting above mentioned problem. I even installed the latest mouse drivers(ultranav) from Lenovo site. Has anyone got this same problem? Looks like Lenovo should fix this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

This isn't necessarily a driver problem, and it's not necessarily Lenovo's problem.
The primary and secondary mouse buttons can be switched by a program you are running, although it wouldn't seem that this is very likely.
Windows Start Menu | Settings | Control Panel | Mouse. This will take you to the Mouse PropertiesTabbed Dialog. Click on the Buttons tab. There you can see if the primary and secondary buttons are truly switched. If so, you can switch them back, without rebooting the machine.

  • My daughters Ipod Touch is stuck with a black/blue screen. She downloaded the game Breakaway from the App store yesterday and today she opened the game it said this game is not connected to game centers and the screen went black/blue reset didn't work

She downloaded the game Breakaway from the App store yesterday and today when she opened the game it said "this game is not connected to game centers" and the screen went black/blue.  I tried resetting without the power adapter and with the power adapter and nothing happens.  She has only had the Itouch for 2 weeks.

I did try that numerous times and nothing happened.  However, I did eventually get it to work.  After trying to reset it numerous times and the screen still just staying frozen I logged into the Home Share portion on the Home computer and deleted the Bubble Birds game.  Eventually the Itouch died and I was finally able to reset it by plugging it in and holding down the buttons.  I doubt the deletion of the game helped, but since it seemed to be the cause, I went ahead and deleted it.  Thank you for your reply.

  • Thinkpad T60p with Win XP - Lost color on external monitor (only black & white)

Hi, I have a ThinkPad T60P, and a couple of weeks ago, I lost color on my external monitor (connected by VGA cable)
I have done a lot of testing, and found a couple of strange things around this:
    *  when using docking station with two monitors, only monitor nr "1" inCatalyst Control Center shows colors, but not "2".
    * When using external monitor (or projector) I don't get color
    * When showing video on the external monitor, color works(!) This is only on some type of videos, I think. Flash videos (ie. YouTube does not show colors)
    * When getting a bluescreen, the external monitor displays bluescreen with colors. When rebooting after bluescreen, colors were working while booting (windows logo with colors), but as soon as XP was up, colors were gone(!)
    * I have tried updating to the latest graphics driver (79d533ww.exe), and all the settings in Catalyst Control Center /  Control Panel
As a result of these findings, I beleive it must be a software problem, but since upgrading the drivers didn't work, I don't know what to try next.
I see also that there are other people experiencing the same problems, but I can't find any solution to this problem.

Cats seem to have a strong affinity for that display mode — remarkably often we hear that they've typed in the correct keystroke combo for it, and yet they never seem to set it back to normal after using the computer. Not very considerate, but you know cats: consideration isn't part of the package.
