T61 /Advanced Docking Station Problem

I have a problem undocking T61 from an Advanced Docking Station ----- Message" You cannot eject your computer because one of the devices in the docking station, "Printer Port (LPT1)" cannot be stopped because a program is still accessing it"
No hardware is attached to any printer port and as far as I can tell no program should be running.  If I shut down I can then undock. The docking station was new yesterday!
Any help/advice would be appreciated'

I use a 320GB in my advance dock and don't have any problems with it.  I'm running a z61p so perhaps that is where the issue lies..

  • Which HDD is compatible with HP 120W Advanced Docking station (NZ222AA)

    Please tell me which HDD is compatible with integrated SATA upgrade bay of the HP 120W Advanced Docking Station (NZ222AA).. I can't find the info neither in user's manual nor at HP site. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Please check this:
    While neither station can be upgraded, both feature an upgrade bay that allows you to install an extra hard drive. If you choose to install the extra drive, you will add additional gigabytes to your current laptop storage space. However, if you choose to take advantage of the extra space, a standard hard drive will not fit in the upgrade bay. HP offers a 500GB hard drive specifically designed for the upgrade bay on the 120W and 230W; you would need to order the upgrade hard drive through HP.

  • Advance Docking Station Audio out

    I have set of Harman / Kardon speakers that work fine when connected to my HP laptop headset outlet. The laptop is an HP elitebook 8560 running Windows 7. The laptop is docked onto an Advance Docking Station (NZ223aa). When I move the speaker cable to the audio out outlet on the docking station, the speakers are silent and the laptop speaker continues to work. Any suggestions?

    Also please check Lenovo.com for an updated driver.  I think there have been 2 drivers out in the past 3 weeks for the Conexant.

  • User misplaced key after locking 2504 Advanced docking station

    My company employs lots of remote users, one user in particular has locked her T60 notebook onto her type 2504 Advanced Docking Station and 'misplaced' her key.  The machine won't boot now and I need to be able to get to the battery in order to begin to troubleshoot it.  It won't power on if I have the power cord plugged into the docking station.
    Can anyone give me any pointers on how to undock this notebook so I can get her initial problem solved?
    Thanks,
    Eric O.

    The canned answer is order some new keys.
    A locksmith might be able to turn the lock barrel.  A toolsmith might be able to bust the machine out of there without damaging the base cover of the ThinkPad but maybe not without damage to the dock.

  • T42 docking station problem

    Hi all.
     Having this weird issue with one of our worker's T42. Whenever she connects her T42 to a docking station and closes the lid of the laptop, mouse starts moving around, no emails can be selected in outlook, no option to restart the computer (start->shutdown brings up the dialog window, but can't choose anything from there.)
    She has tried another dock, but no difference, same problems.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Lullaby, welcome to the forum,
    Some suggestions to try;
    1) replace the dome TrackPoint cap with the Traditional "hairy" one, it has a lower profile.
    2) remove the Trackpoint cap all together
    3) ensure that the keyboard is seated properly, removal and installation instructions can be found here (You could maybe also try bending the keyboard a bit if you remove it)
    4) disable the Trackpoint using the UltraNav utility or in BIOS
    As you can probably guess, I believe your problem maybe that the Trackpoint is in contact with the screen when closed.
    Hope this helps

  • T61 with Docking Station: can it handle two 21" external Monitors?

    Hi
    I would like to know if somebody knows if the T61 laptop grafic card can handle two 21" monitors attached at the docking station. Our internal IT guys are confirming two 19" are fine, but they do not know about two 21".
    thanks
    GC

    If I remember correctly, you have the Intel-graphics-chip, and the docking/chip-combo does not support the dual-monitor setup via both VGA + DVI. You should be able to get image on the laptop-screen and the DVI output, I think?

  • T450s Docking Station Problems: Unexpected Shutdowns

    I recently got a T450s and I've been having issues docking/undocking the PC.  Generally, the issue is with undocking. I put it to sleep, wait for the "sleeping" red LED on the lid, then undock; upon opening the laptop a few minutes later (and pressing power), the PC is having a fresh boot.  Windows logs confirm this was an unexpected shutdown. In another instance - one off and potentially unrelated - the sleeping laptop was docked, and upon pressing power, I was greeted by a BIOS message asking me to check date/time.  I did - BIOS settings were wiped - date was 1/1/2001.  I noticed I had some static charge on me (not much though, summer time in Seattle) when I docked.  This particular issue has me wondering if also an ESD bug; I know certain T-series or W-series ThinkPads had issues 5-7 years ago docking station ESD issues. Regardless, this is big problem for me.  I can't reliably leave any documents open when undocking.  I updated to the latest BIOS and it still had the unexpected shutdown.  I am running W8.1. This is the log from the BIOS update:
    [2015/6/23 16:48:58]
    OS = Windows 8 64bit
    Driver Loading....Done
    System BIOS Version -> JBET48WW
    Applying BIOS Version -> JBET49WW
    System EC Version -> JBHT13WW
    Applying EC Version -> JBHT13WW
    AC adapter/Battery check....OK. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Hemanth,Thanks for the suggestion.  I ran the utility and the only thing available for the ThinkPad Pro Dock (65 W) was a firmware update utility.  I ran the utility and it appears I have newer firmware than what's posted on the site.  See utility output below:CHIP ID: VMM2322
    CHIP version: A3
    Firmware version: 2.22.000Update to version: ver2.17.000!!! As such I did not run the update. That revision appears dated 2014 - is there something newer posted elsewhere? Thanks for the suggestion!David

    hi leapfrog,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Ensure that the ThinkPad Basic USB 3.0 Dock driver is installed (with DisplayLink Core Software Version: 7.6.56275.0) or update it here (DisplayLink Core Software Version: 7.7.60366.0).
    2. Ensure that you're using a DVI-I to VGA cable and that it's inserted on the DVI-I port on the docking station

    3. If the external monitor that you're using only supports a certain resolution (eg. 1600x800), navigate to the Display Properties and set the Display Link resolution accordingly (eg. 1600x800).

  • Problem using DVD/CD drive with Thinkpad Advanced Dock -- drive gets "lost" on start-up

    Hello, I have a Thinkpad Advanced Docking station, a Thinkpad T60p, and an UltraBay Slim Super Multi-Burner Drive (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4083N) that I use in the docking station's expansion bay.  Whenever I restart the docking station and computer, the multi-burner drive becomes "lost" -- I have to physically remove the drive and re-insert it for the computer to recognize the drive.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Does anyone know how to get around it?

    Yes, I have had the same problem. I have the HP Pavilion 14.1" but similar stuff. I don't know if you noticed searching but there are a LOT of people who have this problem. Apple won't help me because they say its not them. HP and Costco Tech Support can't figure it out and I don't have another 3+ hours to sit on the phone more to figure it out. Its an issue with Apple and Windows believe it or not, I am considering selling my ipod and not using itunes to purchase music and movies anymore. So are friends. The ONE way to fix it is you go into the regedit and delete the upper and lower drive filters for the drive. The problem with this is now when you go back into itunes it will no longer recognize your drive. So two options you are left with A) Itunes working without your cd drive working at all OR B) your cd drive working for everything BUT itunes and when you use itunes you get that message about not finding your cd drive. So no matter what you do, itunes and your drive will never work together. That is just how it is and NO SOLUTION has been found. Apple doesn't know or care. HP or Microsoft has no idea because its something Apple did. And despite people frantically trying to find solutions online, there really doesn't seem to be any to this point. If someone finds a viable working solution to this problem to get your drive and itunes to work TOGETHER even after restarting, I would be VERY HAPPY as well as 'computerguy'!

    No problem. It is an older monitor. But being a small business, we can't afford to discard a working monitor that costs $1500 to replace.
    The annoying part is that we tried to do a lot of research prior to purchase to find out exactly what resolutions the Lenovo docking solutions supported. We asked our rep to check because of the total lack of Lenovo documenation on this. We would not have wasted all this time trying to get it to work if we had known.
    Even now, no one from Lenovo has come right out and stated that their docking stations don't support Dual Link. I think that they actually have no idea.
    We've been bounced around and around between the same Lenovo sales, support and customer service numbers so many times in the past three days that they are now just dropping our calls in the hope that we will go away. No one at Lenovo has offered a solution of any kind.
    FYI, we've even been told that because we ordered the W540 through CDW that there is 'nothing Lenovo can do.'

  • T410 Docking Station Compatibility

    I just ordered a new T410 to replace a T61.  I have an advanced docking station, Type 2503, will this docking station work with the T410?  Thank you.

    After doing a little more research, I noticed the Lenovo site shows the Hardware Compatibility for the Advanced Dock and it lists the T400 - All Models.  Am I wrong to consider the T410 a model variant of the T400?

    Hi,
    Based on the following specs, the existing docking station uses 90W adapter:
        https://h10057.www1.hp.com/ecomcat/hpcatalog/specs/provisioner/99/VB041AA.htm
    The following docking stations are compatible with the Zbook machines:

    HP 120W Advanced Docking Station

    Source: http://h71016.www7.hp.com/dstore/html/pdfs/HP_ZBook_15_WW_Datasheet.8-30-13.pdf
    Given they use same connectors, you need more power otherwise the system will display error messages all the times.

  • Advanced Dock and hard drive in drive bay

    I'm trying to set up a backup hard drive for a Lenovo T61 in the Advanced Docking station.  Whenever I boot up with the hard drive connected it takes around 20-30 minutes to boot to the Windows log in screen.  When the T61 is disconnected for the boot up it will take the normal time to boot.  When I connect the T61 after start up it will see the hard drive that is in the bay.
    What seems to happen is when the T61 is connected to the docking station, it runs a chkdsk on the drive in the bay before loading Windows.  This happens every time that the laptop is connected to the docking station upon powering up or restarting.
    The hard drive that I have in the bay is a Hitachi 160 GB, 7200 RPM (the one supplied by Lenovo).
    Any help on getting the boot up to go at the normal speed would be appreciated!

    The_Sauce, welcome to the forum,
    a shot in the dark; does the bay hard drive show up in the BIOS boot list? What happens if you exclude it?

  • Docking open T61p on the Advanced dock powers off the laptop

    Hi,
    I have noticed a weird problem with using the T61p with the advanced docking station. I undock the laptop and then close it, so that it goes into hibernate mode. Then a few hours later, if I open the laptop and work on it undocked. After that if I dock the laptop without going into hibernate, the laptop just powers off, i.e. as if the Power off button was kept pressed.
    The laptop does not give the OS the shutdown command, just switches the device off. I am running Win XP professional.
    Does anyone know how to solve this issue? This causes all work to be lost, when the laptop is docked.
    Thanks in advance.
