T61 Biometric Fingerprint Reader Disconnecting and Reconnecting out of Sleep

Hey guys. I have an annoying issue with my T61. After doing the SP1 update and installing the new drivers for the Fingerprint Reader, I noticed that when waking up from sleep, I can hear the chime of a disconnecting USB device and then the sound that it makes when it connects. So basically at startup, the fingerprint says "Please connect fingerprint device" and then a few seconds later, it connects and I can use the fingerprint reader.
It is utterly pointless to have that kind of lag as I can just type in the password. I searched the forums and nothing really helped me. I changed the power management settings for the fingerprint reader under Device Manager and it didn't seem to fix the issue. Thanks a bunch for your help and I hope to be able to contribute as well.

Sorry, I don't have a solution for you.  But, I'm considering a T61 with 4GB of RAM to replace a dying desktop PC, and I was even considering going with the Vista Business or Vista Ultimate option.
We've all heard A LOT of complaints about Vista and drivers not working well with it -- sounds like you're a victim of this even after the SP1 update.
Maybe I'll just go with my gut feeling to stick with XP, now.
Good luck solving the problem!

  • IPod sync failed. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again.

Over the past month or two, I have gotten this message quite frequently with my iPod. It usually happens after I sync my iPod once, leave it hooked up to my iMac for charging, and then try to sync again (sometimes not even more than a few minutes later). I also often have trouble getting my computer to recognize the iPod (or getting my iPod to recognize that it's supposed to start syncing) without having to disconnect and reconnect it and shake the USB cord around a few times.
I had a little bit of this problem with my iPod 5G and XP PC, though no "iPod sync failed" messages ever. This is a new iPod classic and an iMac. What's going on?
Does anyone else have this happen to them?

I'd been having this same issue and kept trying all the suggestions on the forums to no avail. Then I just disabled "Enable Disk Use", which required me to first disable "Manually manage music & videos". I unchecked all of my music, videos, podcasts and photos, applied the settings, then chose which media I wanted in my iPod. I synced successfully and even cleared it out completely a couple of times to re-sync. No issues anymore.

  • MY IPOD IS DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING ITSELF.

Okay I've been having problems with my iPod ever since I did the loading my whole library onto my iPod. I've been getting the stupid ! with the folder symbol. It always gets frozen and I can't get it out of being frozen. When I connect it to my Computer, it's not recognized and it keeps on disconnecting and reconnecting itself and showing the stupid apple logo then the folder with the "!" on it. 10 Seconds later it does the same thing. It connects then reconnects. AND ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT IT'S MAKING THIS WHIRRING SOUND AND SKIPPING ALL OF MY SONGS WHEN I'M NOT EVEN TOUCHING THE BLASTED PIECE OF CRAP!
SOMEONE HELP ME!!! THE STUPID CRAP IS PRACTICALLY SENDING ME INTO A FIT OF TEARS BECAUSE IT WON'T STOP BEING STUPID!

okay I've sorta of fixed it. I don't know it just started to get recognized by the computer but I still ahve a problem. My iPod shows the apple logo and it's lit up and it's NOT GOING AWAY NO MATTER WHAT. Someone help me please.
    I've like tried EVERYTHING.

  • Frequent Bluetooth Disconnects and Reconnects

I have been following this topic for many months under many thread topics.  Whether the iPhone 3GS (and I presume the iPhone 4) is connected via Bluetooth to a headset, handsfree, or some automobile systems, it may experience frequent and intermittent disconnecting and reconnecting. (Those devices giving voice prompts every time it disconnects and reconnects can be annoying )  Many replies have confirmed similar experiences and some have recommended various fixes ranging from resetting various network functions, to re-pairing the phone to the audio system, to keeping the charger to the phone plugged in, etc.  I have discovered that if an active connection is made, e.g. phone call connection, music streaming, or gps navigation connection, the bluetooth connection remains solid and stable throughout the connection.  A downside of course is one does not want to have to have music streaming or the gps app runniing in the background on the phone all the time either.  I think a temporary fix would be a simple non obtrusive app for the phone that runs in the background that does nothing but keep the connection active would work to resolve this issue for all.  Hopefully it would not use much battery either.  P.S. I have experienced this issue with two Motorola H-17 headsets and one JabraCruiser2 Hands free units, and two separate iPhone 3GS devices.

A follow up.  The Apple Genius Bar yesterday witnessed my above symptoms, reset the network connections which did not cure the problem, finally diagnosed the phone bluetooth transmitting device was not functioning properly.  Of course my phone was out of warranty by now, so I upgraded to an iPhone 4 and now all is well. Posting this for information.

  • Several times a day my HP Laptop disconnects and reconnects to my WRT600N router.

    I’ve installed a new WRT600N.  (Firmware Version: 1.01.35 build 5_20080115).
My install was a “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” guided and is generic.  SPI Firewall Protection is enabled.  Security Mode is enabled for WPA-Personal.
The laptop I use with router is an HP/Compaq 6710b (also new), running XP Pro.  The built-in WiFi adapter is a “G” type (Intel PRO/Wireless 394ABG) with “Windows Wireless Network Connection” enabled.
Presently I don’t use the “N” capability of the router.  However, I plan buy a 2nd laptop with an “N” WiFi adapter soon.
The router works well…most of the time. Signal strength is “Very Good”.  However, several times a day my HP Laptop disconnects and reconnects to the router.
Each time this happens I get a “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” prompt stating “Network Problem!...the connection to the router is not working”.
After experimentation I realize that most often the connection will restore by itself…or worst case; I can re-detect and restore the connection using either the “Linksys EasyLink Advisor”  wizard OR the “Windows Wireless Network Connection” wizard.
Besides losing the connection, the most annoying part of this is that after the connection is restored and the “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” wizard message remain indicating: “Network Problem!...the connection to the router is not working”.
    Suggestions?

There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from WEP to WPA encryption.
If you continue to have problems, try the following:
For wireless n routers, try setting the "n Transmission Rate" to 162 Mbps, and the (wireless g) "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
If you still have trouble, download and install the latest firmware for your router. After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Internet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.

    Hello
I have Verizon fios, and my internet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting immediately, over a 10 minute period, many times a day.
I am not wireless. Im directly connected to my router.  It seems to happen at the same time each day, lately its been getting worse, it will happen about 3-4 times a day .  It will start disconnecting, then reconnect, every minute or so, for about 10 minutes.
Ive contacted verizon over the phone, they kept saying to check my router and wire (which I did, and everything seems to fine), after a while on the phone with them, they just hung up on me.  I checked my router, wire, computer, and everything is fine there.
Can anyone help me? This is beginning to be a major issue.
    Please help
    A.W.

I was having this exact symptom for weeks and it was driving me crazy! However, I did find the problem and a solution and maybe it will benefit others as well.
Problem: I had added another device that had a static IP that conflicted with my router's IP.
Solution: In my case, I changed the other devices static IP, but you could also set the other device to use DHCP (best) or change the Verizon device IP.
This can occur for a variety of reasons, but the most common is when you add another router (like a wireless router). Another common cause is that another device on your LAN is running a DHCP server, and since the Verizon router is expecting to be the sole DHCP server they can server the same IP #s out. I've had many cases where a Windows machine just magically started serving DHPC requests, and all versions of Windows I've tested for some reason have the DHCP server running by default!
    Hope this helps!

  • When leave I nano 4th gen connected to either of my cars it no longer restarts playing when car is restarted. Instead it shows 'no entry' in the song title on the car audio display and won't play until disconnected and reconnected.

Nano has worked fine for a couple of years being left connected to either one of our cars. However, every time car is restarted it won't play without being disconnected and reconnected. I have done a full restore.
Current cars are Range Rover Sport 2011 and Jaguar XK 2011.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Thanks,

I had a similar problem. Try resetting and erasing the phone and restoring from a known good backup.

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

  • Podcasts no longer appear under ipod device in I tunes library.  I can access podcasts on my ipod but I CANNOT access podcasts on I tunes library.  I have disconnected and reconnected.  I have restored my ipod.  I have checked for updates. What else?

'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library.  I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library.  I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music.   I can add more podcasts to ipod.  The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts.   When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device.  So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library.  I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod.  I have checked for updates.  I have restored the ipod to it's original settings.  My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

To be clear, the podcast icon disappeared under Ipod device in Itunes.  I can access and manage the podcasts in the itunes library.  I can't manage podcasts on my ipod via itunes (which means I can't delete podcasts from my ipod). I can access podcasts on my ipod, itself.

  • How can I troubleshoot this problem with the iMac keyboard? My keyboard disconnects and reconnects within seconds but all the typing is lost while it was offline.  This is usually 5 seconds or less but happens 2 or 3 times in a minute.  Annoying!

My wireless keyboard disconnects and reconnects within seconds but all text that was typed during the time offline is missing.  i have to go back and retype missing parts.  What can I do to troubleshoot this.  The computer is only about six month old.  This problem is new in the last couple weeks.  Thanks for suggestions.

Beat me to it, Donald.     But there is a possible alternative.  If the batteries have been replaced since new, were they replaced with the same batteries or another make.    There are examples around which do not fit perfectly and leave a certain amount of movement inside the battery housing.  That could lead to instability such as the OP describes.

  • Time Capsule disk disconnect and reconnect every 5 minutes

This problem began with Airport Firmware 7.6, and has continued to perist with every subsequent firmware version.  Reverting to firmware version 7.5.2 eliminates the problem.  Running with the latest firmware version 7.6.3, on OS X 10.8.2, the Time Capsule disk is disconnected and reconnected every 5 minutes, and this is seen in the console log:

Welcome to the club.. there is a very long thread.. here.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3526741?tstart=0
There seems to be any number of factors.. where the solutions are little silly things..
Start from the end of the thread and work backwards as this has been ongoing for a long time.. and experience has improved.
What you are seeing btw is the change apple made in Lion and 7.6 to higher security version of AFP.. but it is a mess IMHO.. and has not worked at all well.

  • Have an iMac 2008/09 on starting today I have a white screen, an apple icon and a constant rotating sun, nothing else. I've tried turning off and disconnecting and reconnecting the power lead with the same results. Any thoughts? Many thanks Matt

Have a 2008/9 iMac on starting up today I have only a white screen, apple icon and a continuous  revolving sun. Have tried turning off and on and disconnecting and reconnecting the power with no affect - any thoughts or advice please. Thanks Matt

If your iMac came w/system DVDs, do the following:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your DVD that originally came w/the iMac while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.
