T61: DVI output without docking station? Possible?

I was wondering if there is any way to have DVI output on my T61 without using a docking station. I need to use this output frequently and carrying the docking station around is not very practical. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Rodrigo.

I see, but how about picture quality?
I mean, I'm going for DVI because I want to plug the PC into a full HD display.
If I'm going to use a VGA 2 DVI converter it's better to use VGA straight, isn't it?
How is lenovo's VGA output quality in high resolutions?
Thanks for your help.

Can anyone please help. I have a T22 laptop with a docking port/ port replicator. The docking port has a dvi output port. Can I connect this to a large screen monitor? Does the T22 support dvi output? I dont want to spend out on a cable if it will not work. Thanks for your help.

It should work without any great difficulties, depending on what you plan to do you may want to change the settings in the BIOS > Config > Display menu for which, or both, screen (s) should be used to display the boot sequence.
In Windows you can configure things using Presentation Director. If you don't already have it installed you can find it here.
Let us know how you arrange your setup.

  • T510 dual external monitors without docking station

Hi, didn't find this one in google or at this forum...
can I connect 2 external monitors with resolution 1600X900 to t510 without any docking station? (one to the VGA and the other to the HDMI port). do I need the Nvidia m3100 or some other graphic card to support this? or the internal intel cpu graphic card can handle this?
same question above about 3 external monitors...

I've got a T510 with the Optimus graphics (4313CTO), one monitor connected to VGA, the other connected to the DisplayPort.  According to this: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-76617.html,
I should be able to connect two external monitors, but it only allows on active external monitor at-a-time.  Is that support site inaccurate?  I would assume having to video cards would allow two external monitors, but this seems to be an issue for this laptop.
    Best Regards,
    Mike

  • T520 Beta Sound Driver doesn't support multi stream output with docking station

I always used (and loved) the ability to use the laptop speakers and the headphone jack as independend outputs. For Windows 8 it doesn't work. Neither Win8 beta driver nor the latest Win7 driver brings this feature to Win8.
The option for Multistream is still selectable in SmartAudio. Selecting this option makes Win8 installing some things but doesn't actually make MultiStream work
Hope this is just because of the drivers beta stage...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The new audio driver for windows8 brings back the multi stream output. It also fixes the crash on selecting VoIP-Settings in SmartAudio application Driver is here.

  • T61 /Advanced Docking Station Problem

I have a problem undocking T61 from an Advanced Docking Station ----- Message" You cannot eject your computer because one of the devices in the docking station, "Printer Port (LPT1)" cannot be stopped because a program is still accessing it"
No hardware is attached to any printer port and as far as I can tell no program should be running.  If I shut down I can then undock. The docking station was new yesterday!
    Any help/advice would be appreciated'

  • T61 with Docking Station: can it handle two 21" external Monitors?

    Hi
I would like to know if somebody knows if the T61 laptop grafic card can handle two 21" monitors attached at the docking station. Our internal IT guys are confirming two 19" are fine, but they do not know about two 21".
    thanks
    GC

If I remember correctly, you have the Intel-graphics-chip, and the docking/chip-combo does not support the dual-monitor setup via both VGA + DVI. You should be able to get image on the laptop-screen and the DVI output, I think?

  • Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet Docking Station - Dock Firmware won't update or output to any monitor

    Hi,
Just bought a Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet Docking Station and it won't output to any monitor via HDMI or Displayport.
I've tried updating the firmware to V02 and V03. I get the message:
    Current On-Board Firmware is 0.41.9
Do you want to update with firmware version 0.41.23 (V03) 0.41.19 (V02)
When I select yes I get the following error:
Error: Please unplug the power connector from the Dell desktop dock for 15 seconds, then plug the power connector back into the Dell desktop dock and try again.
This I keep repeating but it will not update.
The model number of the dock is: K10A001.
The only other thing I notice is that the power adapter does not appear the same as any of the pictures I have seen and is a Dell 74VT4 (65w) which seems be for a Dell XPS 18 (1810).
Please help as I think this may need to be sent back.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I've exactly the same problem. I've also the model number K10A001 and the current Firmware 0.41.9, and it is also not possible for me to flash the docking station.
This is also problematic because only one monitor of the two connected monitors works. An this monitor shows only a picture, if it is plugged, after the dockingstation and the Venue 11 Pro has been started.
I think there is maybe an improved flash utility required in order to allow to flash the docking station? If some one had succeeded please respond.
    Thank you

  • T410 with integrated graphics - DVI output not working on Mini Dock 3 (4337)

I tried connecting my external monitor to the DVI output of the Mini Dock and it did not work.  I have since connected it with no issus to the VGA output.
However, I want to use the digital (DVI) connection for my monitor........how can i fix this issue?
NOTE: I have a T410 with the integrated graphics so my laptop screen does not display while docked (I keep the lid closed).

    Hi MarkinIt,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with no Display when connected to docking station on your ThinkPad T410.
Have you checked updating the Intel graphic driver from Lenovo support site?
Please provide the current Graphic driver version showing in device manager.
Is the system having Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS?
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • Is it possible to get iPhone audio (telephone calls) from Lightning connection? Music works, but calls switch to internal or extenral speakers, not lightning (for e.g. docking station, car...)!

Is it possible to get iPhone audio (telephone calls) from Lightning connection? Music works, but calls switch to internal or extenral speakers, not lightning (for e.g. docking station, car...)!
I want to get the audio out of the lightning connection (the way you get audio when you connect it to a dock). It works properly with music, but when making a telephone call, it switches to the internal speraker. You can change to the external spekers, but you cannot select another audio out. It's also possible to get the telephone audio from the analogue connection, but that's not what I want. I want telephone audio from lightning...
Would be so great if anybody has an idea

I must also say that the second update ruined my Lumia's battery life.
With the first (out-of-the-box) update the phone usually had 30 percent of battery after a quite hard day (e.g. more than an hour of talking via bluetooth handsfree, more than two hours of listening to the music via bluetooth, more than an hour of browsing via wifi, and reading hundreds of e-mails via two mail accounts). I never managed to discharge it after one day (e.g. 14-16 hours) of continous use, no matter how much I talked, listened and browsed.
Now, with the secod update, it discharges to 20% after 12 hours of laying still almost without use (30 mins of music, less than 15 mins of talking and nothing more), and discharges completely with the usage pattern described above.
Did the second update contain some Android code?

  • T60 w/ Docking Station DVI - HDMI 1080p problems.

    Hi,
Im currently running vista 32bit on a T60 with a docking station trying to externally display to a 1920x1080 LCD via the DVI port on the back of the docking station to the HDMI port on the LCD (Samsung N series 40").
The problem im having is when i set the resolution to 1920x1080 the output on the LCD is not crisp and there is a 1" black border around the whole screen.  If you lower the resolution right down to 1024x 7xx (cant remember exactly what it is) it fills the screen and is crisp., but everything is just mega big..
I have the latest video drivers off the lenovo support page.
I also have a T43 running vista and it displays 1920x1080 via the DVI port on the docking station fine.
Has anybody seen this before and have any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks, Cam

  • T61 won't undock from docking station

After a year of not using my mini-dock port replicator/docking station, I tried docking my T61 onto the station. Now it won't release. The eject button goes down part way but it won't release. After prying as much as I could, the right lock would release but the left lock won't budge. Also, it sits on the station and it can 'wiggle' a bit more than my co-workers' T61's when docked. Is it possible to take apart the dock to release it and can it be put back together to work properly? Any other advice please to get the T61 undocked? Thanks.

So after trying some more I think I found the trick.  Some post suggested I roll back Turbo Memory drivers and that made it so I could not get to the desktop aka bricked)
So reinstalled OS (W7) and when updating (through Thinkvantage Update) I 'unchecked' the update for the fingerprint reader (I read that that fixed it somewhere).
    Now it is sleeping!
If you haven't tried this then you should.  I thought it was hopeless!
    Good Luck!

  • T61 overheat and suddenly shutdown on docking station

I have this T61 just over a year and was pretty happy with it.  Recently I got an advanced Mini Dock and I noticed that the machine seems to get overheated and sometimes it suddenly shut down and I couldn't turn it back on after 20 to 30 mins later.  Can anyone help me with this?  Thanks.

    1. if its still in warranty, use it
    2. find the intake and output air vents and make sure they are free from obstructions
    3. if the intake vent is underneath, dont use the laptop on your lap, laptop is just a term, they are not really supposed to be used on your lap
     4. if the intake vent is at the back, is the docking station blocking it?
     5. if your out of warranty, consider reading the maintenance manual first, then when you feel brave enough and in a good state of mind, opening up the machine and checking the fan and cpu heatsink are not completely bunged up with chit

  • DVI/HDMI connection for Thinkpad R61 (with IBM 2504 Docking station) and Samsung LNT4665F LCD TV

I am trying to connect my laptop (Thinkpad R61) with my TV (Samsung LNT4665F) using a DVI/HDMI cable. Because the R61 doesn't have a DVI port, I am using it in the IBM 2504 Docking station. I have docked the computer, connected the DVI/HDMI cord (using HDMI in 1 on the TV, which I believe is the only DVI accepted HDMI on the TV). I followed the Samsung instructions to then hit "Fn-F7" on the laptop. Unfortunately, nothing is happening. It doesn't appear that any signal is pushing out to the TV.
I am not very tech savvy. Can someone please tell me what I need to do?
    Thanks for your help.

Which model R61 do you have? Could post the Type and Model Number Please do NOT post your s/n.
