T61: One key got tough

One of the key of my keyboard has got a bit tough to type. Not a big issue, but it is rather annoying. I suppose that the problem is cause by something has got under the key and removing that alien object would resolve the issue. Does anybody know, how to remove the key of ThinkPad keyboard?

  • Lenovo G460 Windows 7 One Key Recovery with a Linux Partition

    Hi All,
I recently bought a Lenovo G460 Notebook and installed linux on it to dual boot with WIndows 7. There was a problem with sound which I got fixed and everything is working fine now.
    My question is:
Will me linux partition be there as it is If I recover the windows 7 partition using one key recovery?
How to create a rescue disk from One key recovery?
    Thanks in advance.

On part of the Linux partition, are you asking if the partition will be saved ? Or is it something else?

I purchased a Macbook Air 11" in January 2011. It has one key on the keyboard which sticks making an irritating clicking sound that I would like to get fixed. I took it into my local iStore but they were not at all encouraging, saying they doubt that Apple warranty will cover something like this, and also that the whole keyboard would have to be replaced as they don't do individual key repairs.
This is very unreasonable to me. Firstly, the keyboard does work (is not actually broken) although the intermittent clicking sound of a single key is very irritating to me and I expect more from an Apple product than a flawed keyboard.
Any thoughts, tips and insight on this greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to conclude by saying that I did go to an Apple store and after supplying proof of purchase and verifying the warranty etc, I had my MacBook checked out by one of the technicians who (after finding that my machine was immaculate bar the sticky keyboard of course) they replaced the entire keyboard within a week.
I was so happy with the helpful and prompt service and am now so happy with my new silent keyboard!
Also wanted to add that the young guy who told me at the iStore that he doubted Apple would support this and guessed Apple likely say it was due to user damage was being a tool, and he was obviously assuming  that I had done something wrong to break my keyboard.
This was my first Mac purchase and I was delighted to find that the support is genuine and not just a rumor... I have since gone on to purchase an iPad2 will probably buy the iMac too once my trusty PC needs replacing. I was never a PC hater and got on well with windows, and was actually reluctant to make the change - but so far so good :)
    Thanks for all the help!

  • How to update one key recovery on a G580

Hi guys, Does anybody know how to update the one key recovery to the current setup? If I allow it to make changes, will it update, or revert to the previous recovery point? Any help greatly appreciated, new to Lenovo, still not sure where I'm at with it Cheers Rick

    hi roadrash,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
OneKey recovery Will access the Factory image backup installed hidden on your computer,
It means that it will revert how you got the system from the store.
    Also
Windows 8 Disk can be ordered from Lenovo(fees may apply).
If you want to create an updated  backup
On a Windows 8 / 8.1 what You could do is a Backup drive using this method.
    Hope this helps

  • Offer a Noob help? General one key recovery question

So I'm new to laptops, especially Lenovo, and when I got my laptop I had barely found out about the One Key Recovery Backup application AFTER I installed quite a few games. So I decided to make the backup but it ended up being 49GB so I put it on my Harddrive.
Now I found out that there was a partition for the backup but mine is only like 23GB. It's too late for me to make a new backup now since I have added way more stuff.
I was wondering if there is some way that I can go and delete files I had IN my backup?
The reason this backup is a problem is because I'm runing out of Hard drive memory because of this backup
    Thank you

    hi Andy16,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Once you created the Backup File (backup.wsi files) I don't think you can open that and delete some files in side it,
Also not Possible Doing a selective Current system Back up.
If I understand you correctly you want to do another back up aside from the First one you made (the 49GB), But right now you're running out of disk space?

  • Ideapad Series Tools One Key Recovery 7

Ideapad Series Tools One Key Recovery 7
Additional Needful Things: USB DVD Burner Slimline , a mount of DVD writeable Discs (not practical CDs a lot more) , Time approx. 2-3 hours,a big portion of patience
Prefer this as First big operation when you bought the machine, later is possible, but not recommended.
Note : When nessessary parts or partition moved or deleted/overwritten  it is to late...
Start your engine , when Windows is ready to go...
Plug your DVD Burner in ...
Press the One Key Recovery key on your Ideapad or click the (from now abbreviated OKR) OKR Button on screen ..
You should see this Menu next..
Choose Create Recovery Disc got this next Select Recovery Disc Type:
Choose the Factory default recovery disc
click next button brings you to Step 2 Factory default recovery disc
Insert an empty writeable DVD ...
after a short recognition it shows you the write speed
when its ok ... press next ..
be patient OKR start writing and checked the whole disc , that takes time..
should be 3  discs  Windows 7 Starter or 4 discs when Windows 7 Home Premium
depends on preinstalled programs configuration ..
this procedure takes time, even on Atom based systems, from time to time it looks like machine gets hung up, but it doesnt...
If you want a bigger sized harddrive, and / or you want most all recovered, OKR creates a bootable first disc , so you can change your harddrive... if that whole procedure is done.
plug in your USB DVD burner , start your Ideapad.
press F2 to get into BIOS settings ...choose BOOT set first boot to USB-DVD and exit ...
or press F12 (Fn-F11) that provoke the Boot Device Menu, meanwhile insert your first disc that OKR create for you ...
boot from disc..follow the instructions to recover , OKR ask you to create new partitions (or delete old)
answer with yes ... when procedure is done , your new HDD is filled as same than the factory HDD, with one exception
you cant rewrite with OKR ,choose factory recover disc again, when press next ,
you got a warning, factory restore is not available...
But that doesnt matter ,  from now on.. you can , resize or delete partitions, without have to fear,
emergency recover via dvd is yours ...
Note: Factory Recovery disc creation could be done one time...
Note: Resulted Factory Recovery could not recover the procedure to do it again ...
If you like that program , you can save your straightline running windows with all your work via system backup..
and could create recover existing backup image or running system ... creates a bootable disc same as done above...
but recreate only your windows partition itself , not the whole hdd ...
Note: Why dont choose a flashdrive for "factory restore" ?
Its not provided by OKR 6 / 7 to save @ other media...but you can save your personal backup on those media...
complete HDD backup is around 20 GB .. so flashdrive size last min 32GB ...
at this time flashdrive more expensive than, bought a USB-dvd burner plus a mount of writeable DVDs..
Further information about One Key Recovery & more  you can found on
    http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/Video/LandingPage.aspx?lang=en&country=id
Info: Where residents the parts of OKR ... on 2 different partitions .. this shows the invisible content on driver partition
part 1 on driver partition in hidden folder/files & OKR part 2 on the "normal" invisible partition..as shown here
thats the reason why we first fasten your seatbelts & save the whole , before you want to change move/delete/format/resize on your harddrive

    hi there,
    Regarding your questions:
    1. You can try to install Windows 8.1 Enterprie (90 days trial). If that works, you can run a diagnostic on the HDD.
         - Try Windows 8.1 (download link)
         - Create Bootable USB or DVD with Windows 8 ISO
    2. You can try these steps to verify the hard drive's health:
     a. Use one of the bootable diagnostic tools below to test the HDD
       - Lenovo Diagnostic Solutions (see Bootable DIagnostics)
       - Seatools (for Seagate / Samsung HDD)
       - Data Lifeguard Diagnostic (for Western Digital HDD)
     b. Remove the HDD on the G570 and use a USB 2.5" SATA Enclosure to convert it to an external drive that can be read on another PC. From here, you can use HD Tune or the tools above to verify the HDD's health.
       - G570 Video Disassembly (see FRU Removal)
    3. Depending on the size, brand, and specifications, check this link on how much a SATA HDD would cost.

  • One Key Recovery for S10-3t

I got my new s10-3t and feel that there are certain problems with Windows 7 and/or driver installation. Secondary portrait screen orientation does not work, and, even more strange, I cannot remove the Lenovo Screen Rotation program from the computer (using Control Panel)  - after uninstallation it is reported to still remain there. There are other minor problems. According to Yigit's advice, I am going to perform a one key recovery (OKR) of the system in order to get clean windows and drivers.
There are several questions. Knowing the answers could help me a lot  during the OKR process, since by no means I might be considered as an experienced user.
    1. How to start the OSR process:
    a)  Use the OneKey Recovery program whose shortcut I have preinstalled on my desktop, and choose System Recovery
    b) Switch off the computer and then switch it on with a small button in the upper-left corner of the keyboard
Maybe a) and b) are identical?
    2. Are there any important choices (questions)  that I have to make (answer) during the OKR process? I mean really important choices, not  like language, time or user name choice, etc.
    3. Would it be possible during to OKR process to change the size of the partitions in my hard disk? Presently I have Local disk C: - 187GB and Lenovo D: - 30GB. I would personally prefer to have C around 100GB and the rest to be D:.  Disk C: should contain windows, drivers and programs, and D: my personal files, like photos, musics, movies.
    4) After OKR is over,  I will get the computer:
    a) with Windows 7 only, no drivers at all and no Lenovo preinstalled programs
    b) with Windows 7 and drivers, at least basic ones in order to get connected to Wi-Fi internet, to have sound and normal graphics
    c) as it was shipped to me, with Windows, drivers and all the Lenovo preinstalled programs like VeriTouch, VeriFace, SmileDock and others, that I have already removed as useless for me.
    d) Should I perform any backup prior to OKR? I have no personal files on this computer, i.e, absolutely nothing to loose. Presently I backed up (onto my flash drive) only the drivers from the Lenovo D: disk.
    e)  Does the system sit in \\?\Volume{64...} where it is going to get recovered from? I do not see this partition in Windows Explorer, but I do see it in Defragmenter.
Sorry that the question is quite long.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    lots of questions
    - how to start the okr process:
options are the same, if you select it under windows, windows will restart.
    - are there any important choices (questions) that I have to make (answer) during the okr process? i mean really important choices, not like language, time or user name choice, etc.
    nope.if application asks click "next"
    - would it be possible during to okr process to change the size of the partitions in my hard disk? presently I have local disk c:  187gb and lenovo d: 30gb. i would personally prefer to have c around 100gb and the rest to be d:. disk c: should contain windows, drivers and programs, and d: my personal files, like photos, musics, movies.
if you make changes on volumes, one key recover will stop working.
    - after okr is over, i will get the computer:
    c.
as it was shipped to me, with windows, drivers and all the lenovo preinstalled programs like veritouch, veriface, smiledock and others, that I have already removed as useless for me.
    - should i perform any backup prior to okr? i have no personal files on this computer, i.e, absolutely nothing to loose. presently i backed up (onto my flash drive) only the drivers from the lenovo d: disk.
if you have external dvd rom, i suggest you to burn factory default backup, just in case.
    - does the system sit in \\?\volume{64...} where it is going to get recovered from? i do not see this partition in windows explorer, but i do see it in defragmenter.
there's a hidden partition for system & recovery files.it's better not to see cause if you see hidden partition under windows, one key recover stops.

Just got a brand new MacBook Pro 15 in. with retina display...upon connecting to the WIFI that my old Toshiba laptop was connected to, my new Mac imported all this suff and filed it under my Safari Bookmark Favorites....I can delete them one by one, but it's too many to delete singularly. Is there a way to delete all that is in my Safari Favorites with one key stroke?

       Delete Safari .plist file.
Quit all applications. Click on an empty spot on the desktop to activate Finder.
Hold the “Option” key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select “Library” from the drop down.
       Library > Preferences >  com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click it and select  "Move  to Trash".  Close Finder window.
       Please don’t empty the Trash.

       Put back the com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”
Right click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back”.

One Key system repair is the worst piece of software ever.
I can't understand why Lenovo chose that system.
After failing to get my computer recovered ( read more here ), I deleted all signs of One Key and installed Acronis.
Now I feel much safer and it's so much easier and more reliable.
There are many postings about the issues with One Key and not one comment back from Lenovo anywhere on the Internet.
I think they realize their mistake but refuse to comment or fix it.

  • Need Help using One-Key to make a system back up to DVDs

I bought U330 in Sept and now that I have some of my own programs installed and running, I want to make a backup to D (I think?) and also make backups to DVDs so I could make backups.
I'm no novice, but I cannot figure out the instructions for this.
When I pick  Backup, even at Max compression, it says I don't have enough space.   I don't have THAT much on D:---did I need to repartition this before I even started using this computer?  Does this mean I can never use One-Key?
When I pick Create Recover Disc (to make DVD backups), what do I do next?
The dropdown for "Select Source From" has only two options, I am guessing I have to pick "Select another image", but then I don't know what to pick for the Image path.    How do I pick the whole C drive ???   Or??
Please tell me exactly how to do this because I am finding LENOVO's instructions totally inadequate.
A couple times I got to the DVD burner--not sure how--but then it just wanted to burn the sample music files.    I'm feeling quite frustrated--this should not be this difficult!!

I thought you've got error of another type - that error is fixed by simple software update.
Regarding your case - it's always frightening in first time. Believe me - there's completely nothing to be afraid of.
Resizing C drive may result killing your DATA on it only in case of energy is down during the process. Process is taking about 15-20 minutes on slow programs and about 3-4 minutes on fast programs. That means that even having problems with electricity you'll be able to finish everything correctly running on battery.
I'd recommend using Acronis Disk director Suite, but it is not free. One of the best free progs for that are bootable Linux livecds PartedMagic and GParted. They're all intuitive understandable.
You will get your NOVO recovery feature lost after C resize, but you can enable it later, replacing that factory backup in hidden partition with your own backup - your NOVO button will restore your system with all your software and settings.
it will be good for you to start with some basic principles on partitions organization schemes - why, what for and how questions are briefly explained here. After reading this you'll be able to ask right questions to get right answers.

  • B590 Windows 8 One Key recovery

    Hi.
    Today i got my new Lenovo b590 MBX29GE. (Windows8)
Unfortunately there isn't the one key recovery app installed.
Is there a possibility to use this tool anyways ?
    Thanks.

    hi vfbjohn,
Thank you for using Lenovo Community Forums,
Can we try to do a search, pressing Windwos button + W
Then try to type "Onekey" Check if there will be any results under Apps or Files, if you still have it on your computer it should show up using that search.
If non, It is just Okay OKR8.0 does not have an option to Created Recovery CD and its main purpose is to launch the Factory recovery within windows. Still it would do a restart launching the Actual Recovery.
You can also check this thread, they were able to create a Zip file of the Recovery 8.0.
In case you want to do a Factory Recovery you can refer to the User Guide Manual page 15/84
this was you don't have to use the Onekey Recovery Software within windows.
    Hope this helps,

  • Resizing C:\ Without breaking One Key Recovery

Hi just got a new G550 and i must say its a great laptop so far.
My one main question is this is it possible to resize c:\ and d:\ without breaking the One Key Recovery system.
I have made a backup of the Factory restore area but would like to decrease c:\ and increase d:\ so i can put all my 147+GB's worth of data into it so if C: is needing a reinstall i don't loose the d:?
If not is it possible to insert my old laptop hard disc in this new laptop without voiding the warrenty. Thank you!

You can use Norton Ghost or some other imaging product of your liking.  I use Acronis True Image - but Ghost should work as well.  Not sure what version you will need however.   Make sure you copy all of the partitions on the drive.  I know in True Image it will backup the hidden ones and show you what is out there.
After you do this your images will be safe on another dirve.  (Just in case you screw something up)
Now - you can use a partition manager to extend the size of the partition you want.  As long as you don't change the logical location or drive letter, it shouldn't care what size you make it.  The recovery program just needs to know where to go look for your backup.
I shrunk my backup partition because I don't plan on using it for recovery.  I will use the imaging software instead, and I would prefer to have more space on my "C" drive.
    Hope this helps.

  • One Key Recovery under Win 10, G50-70

    hello guys
my laptop is g50-70.I have got all the drivers for windows 10 64 bit

how to make the system image of the win10 if it is not provided???
    help me out....
Mod Comment: Moved post into proper forum. Edited subject to include model/issue.

Hi, I don't think this is the answer the user is looking for. Although the mentioned procedure does in fact create a usable image of Windows, the question remains for One Key Recovery. If used, OKR will revert the machine back to factory install, meaning Windows 8.Can Lenovo clarify if there will be some sort of update to OKR so it will revert back to Windows 10?Or our future options will be:1- use OKR to get back to Windows 8 and manually update to 102- update to 10, make an image and restore Windows 10, bypassing OKR? This post seems to be an alternative in case Lenovo won't provide a solution:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Edge-Yoga-LaVie-Z-Flex/Solved-Fix-Repair-Nova-Button-One-Key-Recovery-after-replacing/m-p/1829369/highlight/true#M26820  Thank you.

  • One key recovery continuosly asks for permissions

I've got U310 laptop with Windows 8 and One Key 8.0.0.1219 installed.
While I work on laptop (say, type text or watch film) One key continiously asks for permissions to make changes on the laptop.
I just don't understand why it needs something to do so frequent.
Maybe I am hitting a button which starts one key?
    How can I manage it?
I don't want to turn the notifications fully or deinstall One Key.

    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If you have an icon for the One Key or if you know where it is stored
Right click on its icon and choose properties.
On top, click on "Compatibility" tab
Below you will see now "Privilege Level"
Check the box that says Run the program as an Administrator.
Try running the Software or see if the pop up will appear again

  • One Key System Repair

I don't think it exists on my S10.... at least I see NO options for a factory reinstall. But there is a folder for the system repair under program files.
The computer came with the 160GB drive divided up into 3 partitions. C drive is 100GB, D drive is 30GB (for the One Key backup) and then an unmapped blank partition which I assume has the factory data on it, which is around 15GB
I actually used Gparted to combine the D partition into the C partition for more room, since the One Key backup software is insanely crippled, the 30GB space couldn’t fit anything. The “hidden” partition is still there though….
