T61 Opening/Closing Lid Changes Display on Windows 7

Hello!
I have T61 laptop running Win 7 which I have installed the Latest BIOS (version 2.27) & Display Drivers (Nvidia) and the external LCD-monitor to the analog VGA-port. I make to FN+F7 "projector only" for view to the external LCD-monitor. But when i close and re-open the lid the automatically changes on the laptop display ("computer only" to FN+F7 menu). It's not handy very.
I found this topic
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/T61-Opening-Closing-Lid-Changes-Display-...
but when my laptop running Win XP i have not this problem.
I found
"Fixed an issue where the external display might have blank screen after closing the lid "When I close the lid: Do nothing" was selected in Power Options on Windows Vista."
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-68451
but i have BIOS 2.27 and don't help.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Try the Vista driver:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67231
After the download, you might have to go into C>Drivers>Win>Display and run the setup file from there.
Good luck.
Cheers,
George

  • Carbon w Closed Lid & External display?

I have a 32" LCD and i want to keep the Carbon below it inside a stand shelf nicely tucked below connected to the port replicator.
    is it possible?
i am aware Windows 8 allows to keep the laptop on while the lid is closed, but would the lcd stay on and get damaged?
is there a custom option for such a scenario as i describe? i dont want to use the Carons display or keyboard, just the cpu/hd/video

Sorry, I don't know the answer. I just wanted to report that my setup with MBA and 23" Cinema Display works the way you would expect. If nobody else has a solution, taking it in to the Apple Store seems like a good idea. It should be easy for them to reproduce the problem.

  • Trial Balance opening &  closing balance changing.

    Hi
In this financial year, we closed the all the period upto mar-11.The closing of balance of all items is correct. But, now for april month I am running the trial balance, the closing balance of Mar-11 is not tally with the opening balance of apr-11.
I want to know changing of account type say fior eg., from. liablity to expenses, or revenue to assets in the mid of the year for account segment values, what the impact.
    Can any one helping me.
    Regards
    Zunaitha.J

    Hello.
When you say balances do not tally it is because the difference has gone to Retained Earnings account. This is probably due to an incorrect account account definition (Expense instead of Asset or something alike).
This means that you have to find which is the wrong account, set it's balance to zero WHILE IT'S DEFINITION IS STILL WRONG and then reverse the correction journal whith the account already in it's correct definition.

  • Storage location wise Opening/Closing Stock on posting date (mb5b)

    Hi,
Report mb5b gives opening stock and closing stock as on date. In the selection screen, if we do not enter specific storage location then the opening/closing stock is displayed as sum of all storage location stocks for a given material.
Where as if we enter storage location, it gives storage location specific output. (with Storage loc/batch stock radio button)
My requirement is - without entering storage location in the initial screen, the system should display storage location specific opening/closing stock.
To get this, presently I need to execute mb5b transaction individually for every storage location.
    Warm regards,
    MS

    Hi Madhavi
This report you can have in T code MC.6 and another t code for opening and closing stock in t code MC.9

  • My MacBook Pro screen turns off when I open the lid!

This has been driving me nuts, and also apparently Apple as well.
When my MacBook Pro is connected to a power adapter, if I close the lid it sleeps like a good little Mac. When I open the lid, the display comes on instantly. Then after about a second, it goes black. The LED backlight turns off. I can get it to come on using either of two ways: 1) touch either of the brightness buttons, or 2) remove and replace the power connector.
Now, here is the weird part: it only seems to do it when I am logged in as me. If I login as guest, it doesn't happen. That would seem to imply it is something about my profile that causes it to happen. So I whacked ~/Library/Preferences and it still happened. So where is this particular bit of nastiness hiding?

OK, so I think I solved my issue.  It was caused by the system not going to sleep (The screensaver thing was a dead end).
When I ran the console app pmset, I got something like this:
    ➜  ~  pmset -g assertions
    12-06-29 9:11:06 AM EDT
    Assertion status system-wide:
       PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep             0
       CPUBoundAssertion                       0
       DisableInflow                           0
       ChargeInhibit                           0
       PreventSystemSleep                      1
       PreventUserIdleSystemSleep              0
       ExternalMedia                           0
       DisableLowPowerBatteryWarnings          0
       EnableIdleSleep                         1
       NoRealPowerSources_debug                0
       UserIsActive                            0
       ApplePushServiceTask                    0
The process that was causing PreventSystemSleep to be 1 was "org.cups.cupsd" which is the print service.  So I checked all my printers, one of them was "In Use".  When I opened it, there weren't any jobs listed.  I went through the options and selected Jobs > Show Everyone's Jobs and sure enough there was a job there.  I deleted it and everything seems to work now.
The odd thing is that print job was probably from my other account which didn't seem to have this screen problem.  Anyway, I hope this helps anyone out there....

  • Can I change the settings for sleep/wake when display is opened/closed?

Every time I try to close my display the clasp doesn't catch completely & the display pops open causing it to wake from sleep mode. I have to put something heavy on top of the display when it is closed to keep it closed. The clasp is broken & I was wondering if I could simply change the automatic setting of waking the computer when the lid is opened? Everytime I move it, it pops open & I don't want my battery depleted.

Hi, desire. To set PB so opening the display doesn't wake the computer:
    Applications > Utilities > Terminal
Type or paste the following in the Terminal window:
    sudo pmset lidwake 0
It will ask for your password. Type that in, hit return, and quit the Terminal.
To change it back so the system wakes when you open the lid, type:
    sudo pmset lidwake 1

  • 15-r007TU-Display does not turn on when it automatically turns off after closing lid.

I just purchased hp 15-r007TU, Windows 8.1 x84. I'm facing a strange problem. After all initial setup, I put the laptop on to download and install all lates Windows 8.1 patches. The display is set to tuen off automaticaaly after 5 minutes. After 5 min it did turn off as set. But then I can not turn it back on. I pressed all (except power) keys, used touch pad, closed lid and opened but it stayed off. Laptop was on and running as I could see HDD lights flickering, I could hear system sounds on pressign mute/volume keys, also I could toggle WiFi with key. I then pressed power off key to turn Windows off normally. I did turn off. I again turned it on, I could see 'hp' logo with spinning wheel and then nothing. Display is off and I don't see start screen. I have to hard reset (press power button for more than 5 seconds) then display is normal. This happens every time the display turns itself off automatically after set time or I close the lid. Only after hard reset it works normally and I see the start menu.
The power settings I use are:
    1. never put system to standby after preset time. (either on battery or AC power)
    2. turn display off after 5 min. (both on battery or AC power)
    3. when I close lid - do nothing. (both on battery or AC power)
    4. when I press power button - shut down
I am using Windows 8.1 x64 with all latest patches installed. BIOS updated to lates available. All latest drivers installed.
I have not yet set password to the system to log in.
Help would be immensly appreciate. The device is still in warrenty if it needs to be replaced.

    Hello K1200LT,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the computer will not sleep when you shut down the lid. You seem to have already done most of the troubleshooting I would've suggested.
To be honest,  it is either a hardware or software-related issue. To determine this, I would like you to reinstall the operating system. It will clear up any software conflicts and allow you to start fresh.
First, please ensure you backup your files. Here is information on how to do this: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8)
Once this is done, it is safe to reinstall the operating system. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
If the same situation occurs, the computer likely has faulty hardware. At that point, please contact HP phone support. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know what happens. Thanks!

  • MacBook Pro crashes when closing lid while in windows 8.1

I use a late-2011 MacBook Pro with Mavericks for work and run Windows 8.1 as my daily driver via Boot Camp. I've been running this setup for about a month without incident, but within the past week whenever I close the laptop it starts acting really weird. Normally it has alway just gone into sleep mode with the white LED on the front of the base pulsing slowly, and when I open it back up (even after a day or two) it snaps right back to action.
When I got home from work one day about a week ago I noticed that the computer was completely turned off, and when I booted it back up it went to OSX (I have it set to boot into Windows by default). I didn't initially think anything of it, but I soon realized that every time I closed the lid it was crashing. After closer examination I saw that the white LED wasn't flashing after closing the lid and that I could hear the fans still running. Oddly enough everytime I open it immediately after seeing this occur, the LED starts blinking when the lid is open yet the screen is black, the computer is unresponsive, and yet the fans are still humming. Eventually the computer just turns itself off completely. I've tested the same sequence of events while in OSX, yet everything works as it should: the LED illuminates immediately after closing the lid and the computer is fully operational the moment I open the lid.
I haven't made any major changes or performed any sort of updates since setting everything up initially, so I'm completely baffled as to why this is occuring. I've tried to reinstall/repair the Boot Camp drivers while in Windows, but to no avail. I'm at a total loss... I defintely am hoping to avoid having to wipe my fully configured windows installation and starting from scratch. Has anyone experienced anything like this and hopefully have any suggestions? Thanks!

I would be looking at the Quad core MBP for Parallels. A Quad-core vs Dual-Core is not a fair comparison.
For the same CPU, the two bottlenecks for Parallels are RAM and disk speed.
You will see an improvement if you max out the RAM and the disk speed. The SSD in the MBP will be much faster than the HDD in the iMac.

  • Wireless mouse and Keyboard Issue after closing the lid - external display

Can anyone give any insight. Recent purchase of a new Late 2008 15" MBP. I have connected it to an external 24" Apple monitor on my desk and use a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard on my desk top. I have configured the laptop to wake on bluetooth devices. So here is the problem: The laptop when the lid is up recognizes the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I close the lid/screen. Laptop powers down... the after several seconds I move the mouse and the laptop comes alive... But after that there are no bluetooth devices attached. When I use the mouse, I get "connection lost" with a white figure of the mighty mouse on the screen. The wireless keyboard is not there and I have to open the lid and manually find the mouse and reconnect. The keyboard seems to work however....
    Apple..... any thoughts..... anyone?????

Hi Stentdoc; I'm thinking, 'connection lost ~= sorta low AA batteries in the Mighty Mouse? (I would put in fresh AA batteries in the mouse and keyboard, to eliminate as an issue that the 'connection lost' is due to low batt voltage; that this is causing the failure to wake.) ... then, in System Preferences > Hardware > Energy Saver, settings for Power Adapter > Sleep, set to "never" for "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for ..." to eliminate that as a conflict when trying to wake with bluetooth from sleep induced by closing the lid ...
Check your current "Sleep" setup (I left my MBP as "3")
    go to Utilities > Terminal
After you launch Terminal, the first step is to determine which sleep mode your Mac is currently using. You can both view and change the sleep mode using the Unix program pmset. To see your current settings, type (or, copy and paste)
    pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
    press 'enter'
You should see something like this:
    $ pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
    hibernatemode 3
So your machine is using mode 3 ... thanks to the documentation for the handy Deep Sleep Dashboard widget, which puts your machine immediately into hibernation mode (so you don’t have to yank all the power sources to invoke it):
    * 0 - Old style sleep mode, with RAM powered on while sleeping, safe sleep disabled, and super-fast wake.
    * 1 - Hibernation mode, with RAM contents written to disk, system totally shut down while “sleeping,” and slower wake up, due to reading the contents of RAM off the hard drive.
    * 3 - The default mode on machines introduced since about fall 2005. RAM is powered on while sleeping, but RAM contents are also written to disk before sleeping. In the event of total power loss, the system enters hibernation mode automatically.
also, I enabled this (to change back, input "lidwake 1":
    go to Utilities > Terminal
type in sudo pmset lidwake 0 then "enter"
it will ask for your password. type it in, that's it!
Now, when your computer is sleeping with the lid closed, when you open the lid nothing happens until you press any key ... nice: keeps it off when accidentally opened, like in a backpack?
WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.
To proceed, enter your password, or type Ctrl-C to abort.

  • Advice about using the laptop with closed lid while connected to external display

    Hello all HP forum members!
I have an ENVY 17 with Win8.1 64bit, a great laptop, but I need an advice about using it while connected via HDMI cable to an external display (TV).
When I play heavy 3D games, the computer produces more heat than usual (of course this is normal), but doing so with closed lid, could this harm the  display in some way, as a result of the heat?
    Thanks!

    Hi @VVel ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 17 Notebook and issue with keeping the Notebook on while closing the lid. Here is a document on changing the Power option.
Control Panel - Power Options - upper left - Choose what closing the lid does.
Change Plan Settings and also check Advanced Settings. Make sure you do this for both battery and power.
    Hope this helps.

  • Permanent Crash related to changing display settings while FCP is open.

Recently, the display settings (arrangement) on my two monitors started changing by itself while I was working in FCP 6.5. I'm using ancient monitors (Viewsonic MB90 and Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 920. I just don't have the money to upgrade right now). Tis was annoying but I dealt with the problem by creating two different windows layouts. Then things got worse (the only thing I had done was install 8 gigs of additional memory on top of the original 2). FCP started crashing and now I can't even open the application. It doesn't react.
Apple recently posted a not very informative acknowledgement of the problem with changing display settings while FCP is open, but it doesn't suggest solutions to my problem. It would be helpful to know a) what resolution and refresh rates are best for these old monitors and b)how to open FCP again. Your help is greatly appreciated.

    THIS IS IT!
Disabling the nVidia deep colors for 3d applications solved the uber-annoying "flicker-screen-settings-and-disrupt/crash-other-programs" issue. I specifically only disabled deep colors for Premiere, not for all 3d applications I use, because none of them have caused the same problem as Premiere.
This display-screen setting issue probably occurred because I use a Dell u3011 monitor which displays Adobe RGB color gamut, not just sRGB.
However, now this brings up another question with disabling deep colors (effectively disabling the Adobe RGB use of the Dell monitor):
QUESTION: If I have CG-rendered frames that seem to be created in sRGB and Adobe RGB (in two different programs), what color space should I be mixing/editing them in?
I'm somewhat of a novice with the color spectrum/gamut issue. From what I understand, if I edit both CG images in sRGB, I'll be losing color data from the Adobe RGB-created CG image. If I edit both CG images in Adobe RGB, will I create minor banding effects on the sRGB image because it doesn't have the color range that I'm editing in? Perhaps my question is more relevant to AfterEffects compositing of the images rather than simply/only editing them in Premiere.
The end result is something like an architectural film/ flythrough.
    Thanks,
    -Matt

  • Power up Macbook Pro with 23" Cinema Display without opening Laptop lid?

    Hi there,
I've just bought an Apple 23" Cinema display to use with my Macbook Pro.
I just have a quick question for working this setup. I'd like work with just the 23" display in use (i.e. laptop lid closed, due to desk space), but can't figure out how to turn on the Macbook Pro without opening the lid to the laptop for the power button!
This may sound like a silly question and I may be overlooking something as I've only had the setup for a hour, but it'd be a major pain in the ar*e if I had to open the laptop to turn it on every day, then close the lid again (and possibly go through the 'Are you sure you want to go into sleep mode...' process each time).
Can I avoid opening the laptop when connected to the 23" display? There is a power button on the display, but it only seems to put the Mac into sleep mode when it's already on, i.e. it didn't seem to work when I tried to use it to turn the Mac on from being off.
Thanks for any advice on this.

How to use your PowerBook G4, MacBook Pro or MacBook with the display closed
How to use your PowerBook G4, MacBook or MacBook Pro with the display closed and a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse
Just a final question about Sleep mode - does this have any negative effects on the life or performance of the laptop? I'm so used to Shutting down the laptop each day that I worry about Sleep mode having some sort of drain on the components or something.
There are only two practical differences between Sleep and Shut Down:
    1. Sleep will wake instantly, so you don't have to wait for startup.
    2. Sleep will drain a new, fully charged battery after several days without being woken or plugged in. If you shut down, the battery charge lasts much longer. Obviously, if you only sleep it overnight, you'll still have plenty of battery left in the morning.
Don't sleep it more frequently than necessary, though. Frequently turning the backlight and hard drive off and on can shorten their life. Just do what's reasonable. I usually leave mine awake until I have to transport it in a bag, along with sleeping it overnight. On battery, I'll sleep it more often to preserve battery.

  • How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window?

    Hi champs,
Just a simple non-technical question: How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window on Windows 7 desktop?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Did you mean change the Lync: Change the Default Font and Color of Instant Messages just as Edwin said above?
If not, as I know, there is no natural way to change it.
If yes, on the latest version of Lync 2013 client, there is a new option “IM” on Lync client “Options” list. And you need to change the default Font and Color of IM in the interface of “IM”.

  • Track changes in opening / closing FI period

Does SAP have a standard report to track the changes made by opening / closing FI periods in a given date range for a particular company code using T Code OB52 and also track who has made the changes.
If there is no standard report what is the solution to get this

I would like to know steps or T-CODE for end year closing.
    1) With TC: F.16 we can carry forward the balance to next year.
    2) With TC: OBH2 copy the number ranges to next year
    3) Open next year periods by selecting the Posting Period Variant.
    4) Then test by posting the transaction in F-02
How about TC : OB52, when we can't run that steps?
    Check List:
In order to arrive at correct profit or loss for the month following checklist can be followed:
    Month end closing Activities
    1) All the expenses including amortization, prepaid expenses, Preliminary expenses and accruals have been booked.
    2) Complete Bank Reconciliation
    3) Make sure that Sum of Inter company balances is Zero
    4) Suspense Accounts should be cleared regularly.
    5) Ensure that all documents related to MM & SD have been entered in system.
    6) Ensure that all billing documents are released to accounting.
    7) Calculate Overheads on all process Orders (CO43)
    8) Technically complete all process orders which are fully processed (CORM).
    9) Calculate Variance (KKS1)à (Relevant only if Standard cost is calculated).
    10) Settle all process orders which are technically complete (CO88).
    11) Close All settled Process Orders
    12) Close MM period (Transaction Code: MMPV).
    13) Carry out GR/IR clearing (F.13) transaction
    14) Depreciation Run (AFAB) has been carried out for the month
    15) Close FI Posting period after the month end closing activity is over.
    Year end closing Activities
    1) Calculate production work in progress on process orders which are not technically complete.
    2) Carry out Assessment cycle for Cost Centers.
    3) All month end closing Activities should be carried out.
    4) Carry Forward Balances to next year
(With TC: F.16 we can carry forward the balance to next year.
With TC: OBH2 copy the number ranges to next year
Open next year periods by selecting the Posting Period Variant.
then test by posting the transaction in F-02)
We donu2019t use TC:OB52 for end year closing?
I have replied partly to your query. sorry for that. I have sent you the opening new year reords.
The closing procedure is as follows: -
    1. Carry forward Vendor & Customer Balances: TC: F.07
    2. Assets:
    i) TC: OB 52 - for assets 2 years can be openned at a time.
ii) check which year is closed: TC: OAAQ
iii) Close the year 2004: TC: AJAB
Note: Unless depreciation for all the months is posted for all the assets you cannot close the year.
iv) Open year 2005: TC: AJRW
Hope the above clears your doubt.
