T61 stuck on BIOS until command given

Hi guys:
I was the one who had asked about T61 / T60 HDD compatibility, and so, I tried it.
The T60 HDD was able to install Win7 properly on a T61 with the required drivers, however the following "error" occurred on one of my deployments (I'm not sure if this is a constant issue or just a one-time thing, but I did the same setup on 5 other machines that seem to be stable).
When i first turn the computer on,  I get the BIOS screen that says "Press the Blue ThinkVantage button... (blah blah blah)", but it stays there indefinitely until I press F1, F12, or the blue thinkvantage button and choose a path for the computer to start on.
Is there any reason why the BIOS screen would just be there for an indefinite amount of time? -- shouldn't it pass this at some point??
I checked the BIOS settings themselves, and even went so far as to set them to default, to no avail. Rebooting works fine, but after a shutdown, turning it back on is a pain (gets stuck at BIOS screen...).
Does anybody have any ideas as to what would cause this issue?

I checking the specs for that PC, it is supposed to have a keyboard and mouse, which would help explore more items.  The items listed are wireless keyboard, but I suspect a USB keyboard would work also.  If it is stopping at the HP BIOS screen, there is probably a problem with the hard drive, but you need to be able to enter the BIOS setup to check any further, so find a USB keyboard to consider trying anything beyond where you are now stuck.

  • Windows 7 Stuck At BIOS Cannot Enter BIOS or Change Boot Media

My laptop has no problem before. Recently I try to install Windows XP. First attempt fail, so I change SATA at BIOS from AHCI to Compatible, success. However the partition that I want to install Windows XP to is not available.
So just to test I choose my Windows 7 partition. Since it want to format the partition, I cancel the installation. After restarting windows, it stuck at bios. I restart again and change SATA to AHCI. Restart, still stuck at bios. This time I cannot enter BIOS, recovery or change boot media. Assuming the boot sector has corrupt, will reseating the cmos battery will fix this  problem. Please help. Thanks in advance.
    Solved!

    hi kiebloom,
Yes, you will need to boot without the HDD to try and access the BIOS again. If you're able to access the BIOS using this method, reload the BIOS defaults by pressing F9 then press F10 to save and exit.
From here, you can try to:
    1. Re-insert the HDD and press the OneKey Recovery button to reinstall Windows 7
    2. Create a recovery disc for Windows 7, format the HDD and downgrade to Windows XP
    3. Dual-boot Windows 7 and Windows XP (see this guide)
    Best regards,

  • C220 m3 server stuck in bios

I keep geting stuck in a loop wen setting up the c220 m3. I updated all the drivers and rebooted the server but keeps coming back here.
    any idea?
    thanks

    Tony,
Actually the server is not stuck in BIOs, it is getting to the HUU utility cause very likely the FlexFlash has the HUU partition active.
You can do thi, go to Server> Inventory> Storage> Select the FlexFlash and clicki on "Configure Operational Profile", it will show you something like the image attached:
    *SCU= Server Configuration Utility
    *Drivers
*HV= Useful if you want to have a Hypervisor installed in this FlexFlash partition
*HUU= This is the screen you are getting when the server boots up.
Enable/Disable this options accordingly, disable of all them if you want to boot from the local disk.
    I hope this helps

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8K Stuck at BIOS after BIOS is flashed

    Hello all,
I used Toshiba's BIOS update utility on this machine. It was working fine before, now it gets stuck with the Toshiba splash logo. Pressing F2 and/or F12 do not work. Pressing esc. Gives the following error. No TPM or TPM has problem. Everything else seems as normal. It show Bios 6.00 which is what I'd in theory flashed it to.
I'm guessing the flash went bad. Is there an emergency recovery procedure for this?

    Hi guys!
I have a great news for all, who still fighting with "no tpm or tpm has problem"!
    I find a solution!
That is an instruction how to flash old bios to Toshiba Satellite A100-712 (PSAA9E):
    1. Get USB Diskette Drive
    2. Download Phoenix Crisis Recovery Disc with phlash16.exe 1.6.5.4
    3. Create Crisis Disk by running CRISDISK.BAT (Phoenix Crisis Recovery Disc)
    4. Download this version of San Antonio BIOS (5.90) from there: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20070709111839.zip
    5. Extract files from archive and find files s10gm590.rom or s10pm590.rom
    6. Copy one of this files to recovery diskette you have created before (you have to delete BIOS.WPH):
6.1 s10gm590.rom - if you have intel gm video
6.2 s10pm590.rom - if you have ATI, GeForce video
(Also you have to copy to disc file "phlash.ini" and change in this file option UI Advanced=0 to "1" this will give command to BIOS to downgrade)
    7. Rename copied file "s10...m590.rom" to BIOS.WPH
    8. Remove battery from your notebook.
    9. Remove AC cord.
    10. Plug USB Diskette Drive to notebook
    11. Insert your recovery diskette.
    12. Press and hold keys "WIN" and "f"
    13. Plug AC
    14. Push ON (sometimes is better to push 3 keys together "WIN" +"f" + "ON")
    15. Your diskette drive had to start working - if not try again p.12-14
    16. For a while your computer starts to beep (near 2 minutes approx.).
    17. Wait until computer will reboot.
    18. Press F1 when chesksum error will occurs.
    That is all!
    Have fun!

  • Install new GPU and PSU and am stuck at BIOS splash

I purchased an HP a bit over two years ago (Summer of 2012). The computer is an h8-1240t. I had selected the i7 3770 CPU, 300W PSU, 8gb RAM, and a GeForce GT 530.
I am replacing my card with a MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G card as well as a new 500W Corsair CX500M power supply.
The install went fine. I made sure all devices were firmly seated in the slots. When I was finished I powered up my computer and found that I was getting stuck on the BIOS splash screen where it tells you to press 'Escape' for options. If I leave the power on it will eventually make a few intermitent beeps and eventually go to a blank screen with a dash in the upleft corner.
If I am quick enough, I can press 'Esc' and get to the BIOS settings, but then the computer becomes stuck again and same thing as above happens.
After having those issues I put the older GT 530 card back in and everything powered up as normal.
Is this possibly an issue with my motherboard? Here is a CPU-Z screen shot http://i.imgur.com/VDaLmlZ.jpg
Any help will be appreciated as right now that $350 card is as good as a paperweight hah.

Yes it's an 8 thing. The only solution I have seen is to flash the video BIOS on the video card. Video card manufacturers are aware of this issue and many have made a video BIOS available which will make the card work with older systems. You would obviously have to do that on another computer. Also some video cards have a hardware switch on the PCB board that lets you switch the video BIOS from true UEFI (Win8) compatibility to legacy compatibility. Look carefully for such a switch.

  • Stuck at BIOS splash screen

    I own a lenovo b570e model 20713.
I was trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 on it, and after installation I rebooted.
Now the computer is stuck at boot splash screen, will not let me press f2 or f12. Just hangs there at the splash screen.
    Any suggestions?

Did you perform a clean install of Ubuntu following the instructions on the Ubuntu forums? There are specific steps required to install Ubuntu on a system that uses UEFI instead of legacy BIOS.
You can try removing battery and AC power, then hold down power button for more than 30 seconds to reset the UEFI settings.  Once completed, reattach battery and AC power, then enter UEFI and disable Secure Boot.
    Good luck.

  • T61 Stuck at Start Up page!

after i accidently plug out my T61 without the Battery, when i try to restart it, it always, forever stuck at Microsoft Configuration loading Bar page, i have tired for like 20 times, and once i have waited for 10 min...!!
Seriously, wat happened? How to solve it or wat is wrong?

you probably corrupted a file when you unplugged, this is why it is advisable to install your battery when you use your laptop.
You would need to reload from a backup.

  • B570e stuck on BIOS lenovo screen

    Hello everyone!
I have a problem with notebook B570e - it stucks on a BIOS with a nice Lenovo logo.
I have removed battery, HDD (which was definitely broken, with some extra sounds during work), optical drive, WiFi module, Bluetooth, and tried to replace RAM from working (I'm certain) notebook. I have also removed mainboard battery to clear CMOS - nothing helped. I have also tried to plug in WiFi card on each port to see if every USB port is not short-cirrcuted. And power supply seems to be OKay.
What could be broken and how to test it?

    Hi lpm11,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your B570e Laptop is hanging at Lenovo Logo even after performing all the possible troubleshooting steps, please let me know if the computer is passing Lenovo Logo after the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is removed also attach a snapshot if any error message is displayed while checking the issue.
    Hope to hear back soon
    Best Regards

  • T61 - after Lenovo BIOS update (through thinkvantage) can't boot

I hit the power button and it lights up, i hear the drive click, and then the lights 1 and 2 go off. I have power cycled and removed battery, etc.
Beyond that I cannot even get BIOS to load up. Any suggestions I havent thought of?

Have you any peripherals connected to your laptop? Any external HD, for instance?
The reason I ask is that I had a quite similar problem two years ago with my T42. To further complicate the diagnostics, it would boot fine at times, and not at all at other times.
By some funny happenstance, I noticed that my Western Digital HD was ON during one of those "non-booting" situations and I just thought "what if?..."
So I turned off the WD drive and... Voila! I was right. The booting proceeded normally. Checked a few more times, drive ON and drive OFF and that was it!
Since the problem was resolved, I never went back to find out why that was so, but I suspect it had something to do with the booting priorities in BIOS.
Just wondering whether your problem might have anything to do with any hardware attached to your computer. If you suspect it might be the cause of the problem, why don't try disconnecting all peripherals and if that allows you to boot, then try reattaching one piece at at time until you discover the culprit.
    Good luck.
