T61-T8300w​ill not stop asking me to reboot, now will not accept any other updates

I purchased the T61 about 2 weeks ago, I immediately allowed it to update my system in productivity center.
I chose all the updates at once and let them run.
Immediately after the updates were done and now, every time thereafter that I boot up it brings up a message: "restarting computer is required: The computer must be restarted before updating can continue: yes/no"
I have restarted it over 50 times and the message will not go away.
I see in productivity center that one update failed to install fully: ThinkVantage rescue and recovery update (4.10.0314.00)
I removed it ( I think) and Add/remove programs, still happens.
System update advised I reinstall it, I did, still happens.
I looked for a system restore point that was earlier than this faulty installation; there was none earlier.
I have requested an update to my system in productivity center and it does not solve it.
I did a reinstall/repair of windows. It did not fix it.
Now windows update is unable to install any updates, The yellow shield advises me windows updates are installing, but they are all failing to install.
I cannot upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0.
I really like the laptop, but I am getting frustrated with this problem

1. i would do a complete system restore, then update your OS through Windows Update.
2. Setting Restore Point
3.Update your Thinkpad Software. Please Note: Some updates requires a specific order to install. Like Hotkey- Wlan- AccessConnectios- Powermanager!!! Notice the install notes in your System Updater!!

    Brand new iphone 4s stopped functioning (another one bought at the same time now has the same issues) wouln't call or send texts. Followed backup adn restpre now won't restore - get error msg - an unknown error has occured(1).
    Have tried repairing then removing and reinstalling itunes, disabling antivirus etc. It still keeps failing two thirds of the way thru restoring.

    Have now spent an hour on the phone with very helpful Apple Support people who agree it is a hardware problem which cannot be resolved and phone will be replaced. Thanks for suggestions anyway!

    ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them.  Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password.  Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.

    Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database followed by Option #1 to reapair permissions if #4 doesn't help.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
    4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
    If still not working log into another user account on your Mac and try a slideshow from there.  If it works there then the problem is limited to your account. If it fails there it's system wide and may require a reinstall of iPhoto or the system.

    You probably have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
    Pages 5 in your Applications folder, will open Pages '09 files but will alter/damage them. It can not open Pages '08 files.
    Pages '08/'09 in your Applications/iWork folder which can not open Pages 5 files.
    When you were shutting down you probably had an unsaved document open.
    You probably are opening the wrong versions of Pages to open the wrong document format.
    Pages 5 has had over 90+ features removed.
    Most users are going back to Pages 09 whilst Apple sorts this out.

    Reset the device:
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    Files cannot be downloaded from Safari on an iPod touch.

    What signal is it picking up? Are you joining wireless network? If so don't.. it is really poor way to run things.
    Is it connected to a cable modem? Full router or just a modem type?
    Try a reset?
    Plug in via ethernet.. turn off everything.. wait 5min then restart cable modem.. if that doesn't work, give it a longer off cycle.. 15min or overnight.
    We need more info.

    Open this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109 print it from the computer and follow the steps there. You need to backup your data from the first device and then restore that to the new device.
