T61 touchpad won't drag to mark or drag Windows

Since a recent update to the Ultranav driver (15.1.19) I've got a problem with the touchpad:
can't use the touchpad to mark text (shift/drag on touchpad), though I can do this with the trackpoint.  Never used the trackpoint much before but am glad I can now still do this basic function with it!  This happens in all programs:  editing programs, IE8, etc.
Can't use the touchpad to move windows around the desktop either.  You know -- click on the top bar and shift/drag it around with the touchpad.  Can do this with the trackpoint.
I also get minor pauses intermittently using the touchpad to move the cursor.

PS: sorry to hear of so many problems with T61 series batteries, graphics, etc.  Mine's been working fine for over 3 years (can't say the same of my old T42 -- it bit the dust after 4 years).

A good site with links to various hotfixes is here - you will have to register to download the hotfixes But it's better than having to e-mail Microsoft begging that they send you the link to the hotfix you need..
BTW, the hotfixes designated  "KB" and the "Q" are interchangeable so if you can't find the one that starts with Q, then substitute it with KB.... "Q" was the old Microsoft designation for a hotfix, while "KB" (Knowledge Base) represents the new designation.
To fix the problem, I would also suggest the following for you (after you install the above hotfixes):
1) Re-install the Lenovo Power Management Driver for the T61. (Note that there is the Power Management Driver and Power Management Software - referred to as "Power Manager". You don't really need the "Power Manager" but you do need the Power Management Driver!! The driver is what tells your computer to do when you close the lid, i.e. go into standby, etc.. Notice in the Lenovo site there is a hotfix associated with the Driver to work properly (Q918837)).
2)  re-install the hotkey driver from Lenovo (makes the Fn buttons functionable)
3) Also, check your settings in "Power Options" in the Control Panel, making sure the actions are associated with the proper event. You may choose to enable hibernation there as well.

    Not sure what I'm doing wrong but when trying to back up my (original) Macbook Pro onto an external hard drive (to create a bootable backup) the MBP disk icon won't drag into the Source of Disk Utility Restore....

    Disk Utility is not very prolix when it comes to error handling. Try this:
    Start "Utilities -> Terminal App"
    in terminal start:
    "/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app/Contents/MacOS/Disk Utility"
    the normal disk utility comes up. Try what you want to do - and check for error messages on the command line. maybe you can correct the problem.
    -------------- IF THAT FAILS AND YOU WANT TO RESTORE IT BY HAND:
    use the disk utility to
    1. mount your target drive
    - double click on the target drive - make sure it's mounted
    2. get information about target drive
    - click the PARTITION (not disk) you want to restore
    - click INFO. Note the Disk Identifier e.g. disk0s2
    3. mount your source image
    - go to 'restore' of some drive. select image
    - search for the image to restore
    - image comes up in list on the left. double click it
    close the disk utility.
    open Terminal.
    check with 'ls /Volumes/' which Volumes are mounted. Check which Volume is your SOURCE.
    you can use 'asr' to restore your drive e.G.:
    asr restore --source "/Volumes/Mac HD" --target /dev/disk0s2 --erase
    PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU GIVE THE CORRECT SOURCE AND ESPECIALLY TARGET!
    asr is the restore tool used by disk utility. Be sure to have a second backup of all your data. If you use it in the wrong way, you can delete all data (including the backup attached via USB).

    Have you tryed to do a Windows Restore to a point in time before you were having this issue?

    You cannot drag the effects themselves to the timeline.  You add them to a clip in the Viewer, just as you have done. 
    If the clip was already in the timeline when you  opened it in the Viewer (by double-clicking it in the timeline to open it in the Viewer) and then added the reverb effect, there is nothing further to do, you have added the effect to the clip.  You don't drag it back to the timeline.
    You only have to drag the clip to the timeline if the clip was not already in the timeline (for example, if you opened the clip from the FCE Browser; or set different In and Out points in a master clip to use a different portion of the master clip in a different location in your timeline).
    Depending on the effect you add, you may have to render the timeline after adding the effect.  But I don't think reverb requires immediate rendering.  One other note, you said you were working with an audio clip ... audio clips need to be AIFF (not MP3 or something else) and preferably 16-bit stereo.

    Please restart the computer and re-try. Also, going forward please provide a more descriptive paragraph of exactly what steps you have taken.

    Rather than dragging and dropping, try this.
    In the computer you're moving music to, select the home shared library you're moving music from, as per the following screenshot:
    Select the songs you want to transfer. Now click the "Import" button down in the the bottom-right-hand corner of the screen, as per the following screenshot:

I am doing the tutorial's but for some reason my color sample in the library won't drag across.  Seems like the simplest thing in the world, but I just can't make it work.  What silly thing am I doing wrong?     Thanks for replying Brad. In the Muse tutorials for Katies Cafe, there are some things you download straight into your library... a colour sample, a contact form, social icons etc.  You're then supposed to drag them onto the page you're building  Try as I might this will not work (I'm following the tutorial step by step).
    If I go into the widget library where the forms etc are those things drag and drop across fine. It's driving me crazy.  I've reloaded the files into Muse, restarted my computer, all that stuff.  I'm stuck, and need to learn this programme for a client of mine.
    Any thoughts?

  • My apps won't drag to another screen

    I have an iPad 2. I am trying to rearrange my apps. I hold down the app to make it jiggle so I can move them around and the apps won't drag to another screen. I can't get the apps to move beyond the edge of the screen without jumping back to where it was to start. I can rearrange them in iTunes but not on the iPad screen itself.

    It takes a little bit of practice. Once the app starts wiggling, drag it to the edge and hold it for a second. You should then be able to slide it over to the next screen. The key is the slight pause.

    The error code is a short Disk Self Test failure and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.  This is also consistent with the start-up issue.
    If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.

    Do your images show, if you disable the option "Do not import duplicates"? If yes, then check, if the images have already been imported, eg. using Photo Stream, if you are using Aperture 3.3 or later.

    I didn't have this issue with CS5.5 on 10.9.5, only started with CS6.
    Anyway, you're probably right re living with it.
    Maybe someone has experienced the same issue and found the reason.
