T61 Window 7 don't start without power cable

I have T61 think pad with windows 7 64 bits and windows don't start with the battery only but they start when the electrical cable is plugged.  It's very strange, please help me.

Try booting to bios screen then insert a fully charged battery and unplug the power, if the laptop shuts off, then you have a motherboard problem, however I would definitely test the batteries in another computer just to make sure they work before you replace your board.
If it does run off the battery when the power is unplugged, but won't start with just the battery, try removing the battery and ac power and press the start button ten times holding 5 seconds each, then 30 seconds on the last time, then replace power and battery and try again. If that doesn't help you can try removing the cmos battery too and and repeating this step, but in most cases this too indicates a system board failure.
Good Luck

  • Bootcamp Windows won't display without power cable attached

Hey guys, I have a strange problem and I don't know when it first arose.
I have a MacBook Pro which I use a VGA adapter to have 2 monitors running (my laptop screen and the extra monitor). This runs fine in OSX.
When I try to use the same set up in Windows I get weird results. It works fine while I have the power cable plugged in. When I remove the power cable only the secondary monitor shows and the laptop's monitor powers down. If I don't have my VGA cable plugged in and try to run Windows with just my laptop screen, I can only get the screen to display while the power cable is in. As soon as it remove the power cable, my laptop's monitor powers off. It comes back on when I reattach the power cable. When I have the power cable in and the VGA cable in, both monitors display fine
Does anyone have any idea what this is about? I reckon its something to do with starting to use a 2nd monitor on OSX, but I have no idea where to start.
    Thanks in advance!

Since I heard other people had DVI
connections working, I tried that, and it worked.
Then, I plugged an analog monitor back into it, and
that worked too! Seems like it just needed a kick
    (weird).
I too have tried all manner of combinations and restarts to get Windows XP output to SVGA data projector. I get picture during windows start up and then it disappears - never to return once XP has loaded.
What order do you use to link up all the bits? is there a way to toggle external monitor in XP via boot camp on a Macbook Pro?

  • Oracle 8.1.7 on windows 2000 don't start automatic :(

Why Oracle 8.1.7 don't start automatic on windows 2000 :(
    Services
    Oracleora3Agent
    Oracleora3DataGatherer
    Oracleora3TNSListener
    OracleServiceORA3
are started autamatic. (ora3 is SID)
if I execute command "startup open" in Server Manager (svrmgrl), then DataBase started

    I've got the same problem.
However, I've found that if I set the OracleServiceXXX startup to manual, If I then issue a net start statement it works OK.
    i.e NET START OracleServiceXXX
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't start without power plugged in. (w/ fully charged battery)

when I don't have the power connected, my MacBook Pro (Intel core duo) won't boot from the battery. But the battery indicator shows it is fully charged. It's a pretty new battery and power supply too. As soon as I disconnect the power, the MacBook Pro shuts down... The battery is charging, according to the indicator in the menu bar of the desktop.
    Any ideas?

Take it in for repair. The battery may be bad or the charger is bad, or some other related hardware problem.

  • IPad won't turn on without power cable and when it does, it shuts down within a few minutes

This last weekend I went to visit my sister and when I came back, my iPad was turned off. I turned it on again and all seemed fine but then within a few minutes, it went straight back off. It won't start up without the power cable attached, and when it does, it says "No WiFi" in settings, not "Not connected", but it's greyed out and says "No WiFi". I did a restore which went OK, but when I was restoring it shut off too and the restore didn't carry through. I'm really worried! I can't visit an Apple Store for a week, so I just wanted to see if I could get a rough idea of what the problem is now?

Your iPad is in Recovery Mode.

  • Poor wifi without power cable

I have a Macbook Pro (not a unibody) for 6 months with OSX 10.5.6.
Recently, while I am on the internet without my power cable it will randomly stop receiving and sending packets. Videos, audio, and web pages will stop midway through and will not continue until I refresh the page.
Once I connect it my power cable everything is normal.

I know it's really cold in Chicago but why not make an appointment with the genius on Michigan Ave?

  • Windows 7 don't start on my new Imac ?

I used bootcamp and I used the 64 bit Windows 7 version. After register modifications, starting services and the complete installation indicator is halfway  I get a dark screen and the Imac is off and stays off.
Please be so kind to help me.
Have tried it several times with the same result. Also the 32-bit version.
Have done all the updates and foolowed the bootcap .
So I see the windows startup screen but it goes to black ...
    Thanks in advance.

Well, unless you have the 2.1 Universal version, it's not-a-gonna run. The only way you can get 2.1 is to upgrade to Final Cut Studio - which from Motion 2 is $199, but you get everything, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, SoundTrack Pro, etc...
If you only have Motion 1, you are SOL...

  • Can I use a PowerMac G4 Power Cable on a Mac Pro?

    Hello,
I got a Mac Pro 1,1 (1st Generation from 2006) and I don't have a power cable with it. I do, however have a PowerMac G4 with the same sized cable.  Would I be able to safely use the PowerMac G4 Cable with the Mac Pro?
    Cheers,
    Adam

Not a problem, the cables are rated for much more power than the machines will draw so they are interchangeable.  Any computer cable with the same three-prong connection will work.

  • Mac Mini (intel) don't start, power light is flashing WHITE !!!

First sorry for my last post, i make a misstake in the color of LED, but the color is WHITE and not GREEN.
Hello, yesterday i use my Mac Mini for make some Downloads, and after done i turn he off by quick press power button (i are using Windows XP PRO). Today when i try start he again, get black screen, no sound, no video, just the power led flashing green.
I try hardware reset by unpluging all cables, wait for 15 sec and plug the power cable again (without press POWER ON key), but nothing change.
I try POWER ON with +R +P Alt + Windows Keys, still not work.
I try POWER ON with Shift, Ctrl, D, X and nothing change.
The HDD is fine, because i withdrew and tested in other PC and boot fine.
If anyone has any ideas, please help.
    Thanks...

My response to your thread in which you report the power light to be green, but otherwise describe the same condition:
If the power light flashes after power-up, it is very likely to be that the system is failing the power on self test, and the flashing is the way it is reporting the fault to you. If so, the system should also beep.
The power on self-test resides in the ROM of the computer. This test runs whenever the computer is turned on after being fully shut down (the power-on self-test does not run if the computer is only restarted).
If a fault is detected during the test, you will not hear a normal startup chime. Instead, the system will beep as explained below. If you experience one of these beeps, you may call your Apple Authorized Service Provider for additional troubleshooting assistance.
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
+In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.+
This would suggest that your system has a major hardware fault, though as you can see from the above, 3 of the 5 POST failure reports relate to faulty or missing RAM. If your system is suffering one of these, and if you have opened the system previously, it might be timely to open it up again, remove the RAM and then reseat it or replace it with known-good modules to see if that fixes it.

    Sorry for my english

    Hello AmlnnN,
I understand have you finished doing a little maintenance   work on the computer it now freezes periodically is that correct? I will do all I can to help you resolve this issue.
First thing lets run a couple test on some of your hardware.
    See steps below:
    1.       I want you to boot into the bios menu this link will show you how.
    2.       Once in bios go over to the diagnostic option at the top.(Note you will need to use the arrow keys to navigate)
    3.       You may see 2 test there if that is the case run both test.
    4.       It may take some time so please have the ac adapter plugged in.
    5.       Once the test finished press F9 to setup defaults and then press F10 to save and exit.
Also find out while you’re in the bios if the computer ever freezes there.
Pleas respond back with your results at your earliest convenience.
    Thank You

  • MBP 5,2 wont turn on without power adapter runs fine after started even if unplugged

I have a Mid 2009 MBP 5,2 3.06 c2d 8gb-ddr3-1066 that wont power up without its power adapter however works fine once its started without the power adaptor for the full 4 hours battery life. I can put the computer into sleep (closing the lid) and open it and it works fine. When I push the power button I hear the fans spin up then it dies and if i keep pushing the power button then sometimes ill get to the login screen before it dies but it starts fine with the power adaptor.
I hate to spend $3200 and have it only last 3 years but its so embarrasing to have the computer not work in front of my coworkers.
I tried resetting the SMC and PRAM still unsuccessful in startup.
The computer stated just dieing on me out of nowhere initialy causing much grief and lost data but after resetting the SMC it seemed to have fixed the sudden shutoff issue.
Anyone else have this problem? Perhaps my battery is bad? Logic boards cost as much as a macbook air from what I've heard. Anyone have a 5,2 with this problem as well?

This problem isn't limited to the 5,2 model. My 2007 MacBook 2.16gHz model 2,1 exhibited the same problems that were initially "fixed" by the resets but now is out of commission with a dead logic board. You've done the things you can do, I'd recommend you take it in for service.

  • T61 Windows XP not starting

I was using my T61 with finger print to start windows, but when I deleted finger print I didn't realize that it went back to password to start windows.
I can't remember my password so I searched trough my manual on how to remove the power-on password &
followed all the directions, now  windows boots to the safe mode page. When I start windows normally it then goes to a blue screen with this following message:
A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow   these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured & terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, & the restart your computer.
      Technical information: *** STOP: 0x0000007B    (0xBA4CF524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
If I try to boot in safe mode or last known good config it goes to the blue page, it will not go past the blue screen so I shut it down with the power button.
    Can anyone help me please?

Hi tenere, welcome to the forums,
seeing as you probably removed the CMOS battery to remove the power on password your BIOS will have reset to default settings.  You will need to change your SATA setting in BIOS from AHCI to Compatability Mode.

If Layers is greyed out it possibly means that you are in Quick Mode. Select 'Expert' and all the options should become available.
Try permanently associating psd files with C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and see if that fixes the issue. Instructions here - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/choose-programs-windows-uses-default.
